Quidditch Slytherin vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2023

She watched the skies carefully, ready for any falling badgers like last game. Luckily, this seemed to be going a lot better, seeing as though she was still in the sky and no Hufflepuff players had fallen yet. All they needed to do was keep it going a little longer.

Jack heard Dan tell Avery he would be first string from now on. Well, good for him; Avery deserved it. It seemed like everyone was focusing on the game, now, since Percival hadn't even bothered to respond to Jack's question about whether or not he was still with Opeila. Perhaps it was too painful to dwell on or talk about or he simply didn't care about the matter enough anymore.

Regardless, Percival's attention was on the sky, not on him any longer. It seemed his rivalry with Avery was more important to him just then. Jack could only imagine what he was thinking when he saw him watching the other players and grinning.

Looking at his teammates on the pitch, the redhead saw that their seeker had caught a glimpse of the snitch; a very real chance that they could win the game at this point in time. Maybe that was what Percival had been grinning about. It certainly made things optimistic for the Cloud Cobras at least.

Glancing Flash's way yet again, Jack grew concerned to see his roommate breaking out into a sweat all of a sudden. His brow furrowed with worry. Was it because of the game? "Flash...?" he murmured softly, leaning over. "Are you alright...?"

- In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).
- In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.

It felt beyond great to still be in the match and more importantly to be helping his team as well as he was on the field for a change. With that as extra motivation he let out an excited yell. And kept it going.

xxxIt was all Maggie could do not to scream in Hufflepuff’s face that she got them so good, got them. She’d scored thrice, those badgers had no clue what had hit them. She had half a mind to just end the game right there, Seeker be damned, to run in circles around the perimeter of the field, screaming her victory.

Third round. No one knew it better than a veteran Quidditch player. Most matches ended in three or four rounds. By the sounds of it, either team had it in one or two more rounds. Her leg bounced up and down in a state of anxiousness. Neither team had serious injuries yet, but she had a bad gut feeling that something awful was going to happen. Perhaps she doubted her own team too much. No, it wasn't that. Slytherin was a fierce competitor in this sport, and she didn't want to underestimate them. After a large exhale from her nose, her mouth formed into a thin line, shoulders squared together with tension as she sat hunched over on the bench, waiting. Would it be a day of celebration or of defeat?

It would be a stunning game if they somehow pulled a win out of this after their slow start. She was somehow optimistic as she *thwacked* the bludger with the heart of her bat. It made a loud cracking noise, and while she half expected the bit of wood to break, to date she has not busted up a bat.

She would look over at stupid, handsome Jack and let out a huff of annoyance. Why couldn't she use her bat on people? Make them less pretty and distracting... easy, the food lady would be mad at her and she did not like it when the white haired lady got sad. Pretty sure 'mad' was not something she could do, mad would be better. Mad was always better than sad.

CHASERS

This time around, Maggie wouldn't be fast enough to be able to stop Howard. With Koko preoccupied by the potential for falling Slytherin players, Howard was able to score uncontested again and again, earning a nice 50 for his team.

"Oh, and it looks like Maggie's luck's run out as Howard keeps getting the Quaffle, totalling another 50 for Hufflepuff!"

However, Koko would not see any of her team tumble from their brooms, and could only wonder if she should've been blocking the rings than waiting for something that may never happen.

BEATERS

Rita and Atlas would maintain their protective stance around Ethen, and it would prove to be the right decision. Erin skilfully aimed a bludger towards them, and the impact hit hard. But not so hard as to knock them from their shared broom.

However, their job wasn't over. Tyranni would also aim to blatch Ethen, coming into contact instead with Rita and Atlas, sending both from their broom. Luckily for them both, Clark would be able to come to Atlas's aid, and Alma would also be able to save Rita a second time from falling to her painful doom.

"Saw that, Whitethorn! Penalty for you!"

Quinn would look on, maybe a little out of it like Slytherin had once been, potentially about to hit a bludger but not quite managing to do so. Meanwhile, Cassandra would keep a careful eye on Dan and make sure nobody would go near him.

SEEKERS

Ethen, after helping to score, would be ready to catch the snitch. He'd attempt to, but find it get away from his grasp.

But Dan couldn't let Ethen be the only one to, so enlisting Avery's help, was swung around with all the strength Avery had in the direction of the snitch. But it was just not quite enough and he'd fall just a little too short, letting it slip from his grasp and flit away.

"Blatching for another time? So, the snakes' team Cloud Cobras likes foul moves so much? Thankfully, there is Alma and Clark on save duty!" Rita thought with some anger when the players in the snake team used the foul move blatching once again, and knocked her off Atlas` broom once again, along with Altas, who was sharing a broom with the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater. Thankfully, their first-string chaser and Quidditch co-captain, Howard, successfully grabbed the Quaffle 5 times, and it was another 5 points for the Hufflepuff team.

"Thank you for saving me, Alma." Rita whispered to Alma while staying on her broom, then called out to the Hufflepuff team, "Anyway, let`s go, badgers! I wish everyone good luck in the next round! We got this, and we can win the match!" Hopefully, they will bring another win back to the house of badgers. The Second Year Hufflepuff beater was looking forward to the next round.

He zoomed around the quidditch pitch, looking at Rita before yelling once more. "GO HUFFLEPUFF! SHOW THEM THAT WE'RE THE BEST! BEAT THEIR BUTTS!"

Maybe he shouldn't say anything but what difference did it make for him? His eyes followed his fellow teammates, to see what's going on. Perhaps he should intervene when needed.
