Quidditch Slytherin vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2023

Howard turned to Ethen and gave the signal. A maneuver they had practiced before, but now it was time to put it to use in real time. However, Maggie would again foil his best laid plans. Howard’s first urge was to unleash a torrent of expletives, but with a practiced patience, he quelled the urge. In its place came a sense of admiration as it was impossible to deny the Slytherin’s skill. However, it also ignited his sense of competition. The Cloud Cobras would again get the upper hand on the quaffle, but not before Howard and Ethen could score 20 points of their own. Hopefully the next round would bring them continued luck…

Well, this round is an OK round for the badgers Quidditch team, not very good, but also not that bad. Maggie from the snakes team really was a strong chaser, but the badgers were still in the lead when it comes to the total points! Hope it would last! As for the beaters, Quinn`s strong bludgering backseat really caused a lot of damage of the snakes, which is a plus point this round! Still sharing a broom with Atlas, who thankfully saved the Second Year Hufflepuff beater from the foul move blatching from the snakes team, Rita continued to cheer for her team members and wished their Quidditch team would have better luck in the next round.

Jack was one interesting guy. Someone who admitted that he felt friendships were difficult to handle, despite being so easy to talk to? Avery couldn't quite wrap his mind around it. What could Jack possibly have meant by that? There seemed to be a lot more to his dormmate than Avery could decipher at this point.

He clenched a fist to his chest as Jack urged him to move forward after the Valentine's note debacle. "Yeah! I guess we'll both have to move forward together!" he said, hyping up the both of them.

Soon enough, he was speeding through the air, feeling the wind in his face. He bowed slightly (as much as he could on a broom, and almost fell over), when @Maggie Hawkins clapped for him, and when @Cassandra Ironwoods congratulated him. He'd come a loooong way from being stuck in the air during their first little flying lesson together, and he had them to thank.

Now, he was ready for his next move. What would it be? He looked to Captain Dan for instructions.

The boy continued to benchwarm, not paying much attention to the goings on around him. His fellow badgers fought against the serpents, but he hardly paid attention. His focus had drifted, and the first year found himself considering quaffles in general. Maybe he would enter the fray, maybe not.

The team wasnt doing too badly, despite the setback. Dan looked at Avery and gave him his instructions. Very rarely did the guy get to see action, but after this, he would be first string.

"Ye'll be seeing a lot more action now, lad. Get ready. As of now, yer first string."

As Dan returned to his searching, he caught that golden glint that he loved so much. The snitch!
He immediately took off after it. They could actually tur this around!

While keeping his eyes on the snitch, Ethen could still see an opening to work with his team to bring a bit of added points. Not wanting the squander the opportunity, Ethen moved with Howard's lead and did his best to focus on assisting while not losing sight of the snitch. Just as he saw Howard toss the quaffle toward him, Ethen allowed his broom the honor to sending it straight through the goalposts. With a smirk, Ethen nodded his approval of the plan. Again they would find themselves able to pull off the synchronized maneuver and part of Ethen started to enjoy the thrill of getting the quaffle through the goal posts. But he knew he had another job still to do.

She loathed hearing that Slytherin was getting points on her undefended posts. But with her companion on the broom, it seemed that they were better suited to watch over the crazy seeker that was Ethen. For the time being, Atlas was willing to serve as her boyfriend's bodyguard.

Despite the points being scored, she was a little pleased that no one took a chance at attacking the seeker who seemed to be enjoying scoring. She assumed that the other team saw the protection detail and just knew that trying to get through would be impossible anyways. So far it seemed that things were still going well for their team, and Atlas was more than willing to keep protecting and saving any teammates that might need her.

10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll.

Percival grit his teeth together as he looked up towards the players zooming through the air. He would not lie that he was beginning to feel restless. He could not lie he was jealous of Chen for being able to play this round. The want to join in the fight for victory was strong, especially when coupled with their slowly losing streak. Though, it was impossible for him to join unless he wished for one of the other beaters to be taken out. A part of him knew it was wrong to think, but he would not really if one of them went down. As long as he was able to feel the air in his face and able to hit things, well more like people. He wondered if he hit the bludger hard enough could he hear the crunch of bones? The boy blinked slowly bringing himself out of his thoughts as he grinned up at the players.

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

Things were going well for the Cloud Cobras - or, at least, as well as they could possibly be going, considering the near-disastrous first round. However, that was nearly gone from Koko's mind as she watched Maggie score even more points for Slytherin. Things were definitely turning around, she decided (ignoring how Howard and Ethen had managed to score point for Hufflepuff), which meant she really needed to focus on being there for her teammates in case any vicious Hufflepuff decided to try and knock them out of the sky. She had the room on her broom, and, with any luck, any falling Slytherin would catch her eye.

However, as Koko scanned the Quidditch pitch for falling children, she would find herself squinting to spot anything because there were none. This was a good thing, actually, and while Koko would remain on high alert, she was most definitely not discouraged.

Excels at catching falling allies as well as getting them back to their broom quickly.

This broom can carry multiple people. When someone uses the catch option to rescue a falling teammate, they can catch one additional teammate in a given round. If the user has the ability Catch then a user can catch an indefinite number of teammates in a round, but for each person they catch after the first there is a stacking 20% auto-failure chance.

On the next round, as a free action (meaning both users can make a normal action) the rider and ONE passenger (if there are multiple sharing the broom, it would cost both of their actions to return them to their broom also) can retrieve a single broom.

Avery remained on the edge of her seat as the game continued. She was simply thrilled that their entire team was still in the air, even if it meant the gap in points had narrowed a little bit. Having been on the receiving end of multiple bludgers last match, she couldn't help but be grateful the badgers proved more nimble this game. So far so good.
