Bridget came to the rescue as Astrea seemed to losing her breath to the continuous attack from the opposing team. A vivid Healing spell did a nice job to give some hope to her fellow Slytherin. But not for long.

Aida sent a decent Flipendo her way once Astrea let her shield fade, but missed. The unfortunate little failure was quickly fixed by Delilah, who sent not anything but a bright fiery explosion, which made a scar on the floor where Astrea stood.

"Finally," Meenauh said under her breath as she was hurt by the same very spell back in their duel.

It did hurt quite a lot, but duelling was duelling. Astrea was back to her failing condition, but collected all her powers to split a decent Disarming charm. The bright light left her wand, split in two, right between the two pairs. One hit Aida and send the wand flying quite far without anyone seeing where it landed. The other split was predicted by Delilah, but she failed to avoid it. The wand flew out of her grasp but landed not far from her, which she instantly noticed. Still, while they did not learn to cast wandlessly, they had to collect their weapons.

Aida huffed with disappointment at having missed yet again. Hadn’t they practiced more than ever? Wasn’t the connection between Aida and the old wand stronger than ever? What did all of those hours in the duelling piste mean, wondered the white wix. They really were improving, weren’t they? With an apologetic tilt of the head to Delilah, Aida perked up when Del’s spell landed.

“Wow, you are so cool!” warbled the younger Ravenclaw before having to confront another wave of dejection when both their wands shot out of their hands. “Aww, boo!”

One metaphorical fire was put out, that of them moving much too slowly, but another one had taken its place: Astrea had taken several hard hits, and was looking worse for wear for it. They couldn't have that; it was much too early in the duel to be down her teammate, and Bridget would stand little chance against Delilah and Aida as it was. She needed to keep Astrea in this.

So she cast Reparifors, healing light glowing easily around her teammate, and she was happy to see Astrea had chosen to send both opponents' wands careening out of their hands. Wonderful, they'd bought some time, to regroup and resume a more offensive approach.

What was less than wonderful was the explosion that rocked their side of the stage. Bridget threw a hand up on instinct, flinching away from it, but it was Astrea who bore the brunt of the heat and force. That had undone all her efforts, hadn't it?

Delilah mirrored Aida's frustration at their wands being thrown to the side, her gaze flicked between her wand and Astrea, a look of not disappointment but definitely just mild annoyance at the move. It was understandable, every move was understandable, but that certainly didn't cease the look on Delilah's face as her head flicked around.

A white-hot explosion hit her square in the chest with a vigorous mercilessness that only genuine intent to hurt and duelling could bring out in a caster. It was less the pain and more the shocking heat that truly threw Astrea off-balance, stumbling back into position some steps away from the scarred ground that she formerly stood upon. It was all muscle memory that directed a return to her readied stance as her vision snapped back into focus. What little semblance of vitality her partner's clever spellwork had restored was undoubtedly disgraced with the bitten-off taste of copper pervading her senses, but Astrea was not to fall just yet.

The true sign of an experienced duellist was the efficiency with which Astrea swiftly retaliated in disarming the two birds. Indeed, she was unwilling to subject herself to more foul treatment in such quick succession. How dishonourable it felt to be considered the weakest link and sole target of spellwork... Even so, this setback was but a portion of the duel's full potential and Astrea sought to see it carry out for as long as she could.

There is always this moment in every duel. Keep calm, mend your wounds, chill, relax, compose yourself before unleashing the hell on your opponents.

And this was it. Both Ravenclaws disarmed, Delilah almost stepped on her wand, which meant it was really close, so she instantly picked it up, and moreover — noticed Aida's wand (feel free to RP this how you wish, not forcing you). And Aida was able to go and pick it up too, despite no one at first could notice where it landed. Nice catch!

It seemed that while the opponents were practically unable to cast any spells, they were vulnerable, and were decent targets. But the Slytherin played it safe as the two Healing Spells from Bridget and Astrea, both aimed at the second witch, healed her nicely to provide some space for the next moments, when the duel would continue its pace.

“Ugh, it’s one of those matches!” groaned Aida. “Students knowing how to heal, guh! This could have been over already if we weren’t all so OLD and STUDIOUS.” Aida wasn’t quite used to these upperclassmen duels, at least, not enough to avoid complaining about them. “Ngggh, why have I never learned how to hold onto my wand properly… Sorry about that.”

Helping Aida look for her wand, Delilah was glad to see nothing coming for them while they were down, although she almost ended up as her own downfall as she stumbled over her own wand. Grabbing it quickly and helping point out Aidas wand to them.

Del couldn't help but chuckle at the old and studious remark. "To be fair, I don't think I've ever had a class in grip." She added, trying to relieve some of Aidas worry. She didn't want anybody to feel they let down the duelling team, it was a fun game after all.

With both opponents temporarily incapacitated, Astrea could focus the bulk of her attention on recovering from the flurry of spells that had been sent her way. This round had the potential of only a brief reprieve, but it was one which she appreciated dearly.

What Astrea could not enjoy, however, was the sudden lamenting of the Ravenclaw team's white wix. Indeed, their experience and academic vigour complicated duelling as a seemingly straightforward sport - that she could not deny - but wasn't the strategy a highlight instead of a detriment? Astrea, ever an heir of particular interest in good conduct, could not produce any positive sentiment for the criticism even if she willed it. Such obvious complaints were meant for moments of vulnerability away from enemy eyes, where the founts of frustration could be safely watered without fear of thwarted sensitivity. They were not for the highly publicised duelling piste nor the equally vicious society Astrea was meant to grow into. Granted, her restricted upbringing was far from a universal experience... and she had never been one to shamelessly voice such dissenting opinions.

Bridget wasn’t particularly thrilled about having to repeat her work, but Astrea needed as much of a boost as they could give her. They had a moment of peace, at least, to just concentrate on healing while the Ravenclaws hurried after their wands, and by the time they had them Bridget could only hope Astrea was ready to go.

She blinked at Aida’s complaint. She was… old and studious? That checked out actually. Now she couldn’t say she was sorry about healing her teammate, and Bridget hadn’t been hit yet so the duel wouldn’t have been over that fast, but she could sympathize with the sentiment of preferring an action-filled match. Bridget was itching to get back in on the action, to be sure, but patience was key, and Aida would just have to bear whatever the Slytherins found most strategically sound.
