it was yet another potions class in the dark basement. guinevere was nearly asleep, with her head on her hands, pretending to take notes. besides her sat a hufflepuff girl, who was named rita, if she remembered correctly. she had seen her when getting ready for the fall ball.
although she got okay grades in potions, it was a tiring class to attend. she needed motivation like, yesterday. a good idea suddenly shot into her head. bets. bets could motivate her... bragging rights as a reward and eternal shame if she lost... yes, that was the perfect idea! she turned to rita.
"hi rita," she started awkardly. "so, i had an idea that we could do a bet, since i'm kind of in a procrastinating slump, so i thought this could help. so the goal is whoever has the most house points by the end of 2022 wins. would you be interested?"
she spun her quill in her hand, careful not to splatter any ink on the people near her. at that moment, the professor announced that they could start brewing their potion, so she stood to go get her supplies and ingredients, which were at the table at the front.

How About A Bet?
Alright, another potions class in the basements. Rita had mixed feelings about potions class, she likes brewing potions and discovering the different and interesting effects of those potions, but sometimes the long and quite boring lectures of the professor made the Second Year Hufflepuff want to sleep, and she did not like walking a long distance and having classes in such a dark basement. Maybe she just needed some sorts of stimulation. Or she just wanted to have some food after the boring class.
Suddenly, the Second Year Hufflepuff heard someone calling her name. She turned around and found out it was that Slytherin girl she met when she was preparing for the fall ball in the lavatory last month. Her name is Guinevere Russetwood, if Rita remembered correctly. The Hufflepuff then listened carefully what the other girl was saying and found out Gwen asked her if they could do a bet to find out who had the most house points by the end of the year 2022. "A quite interesting idea, I`ve never thought of that before." The black-haired Hufflepuff thought, "I don`t think I am a really competitive person but maybe it can at as a stimulation for me to work harder. Let`s do it then. Maybe she could even win the bet."
"A bet? Sounds very interesting, I`ve never done anything like that before. Let`s do it then. I think I`m in a quite slumpy state as well, maybe it would stimulate me to work harder, let`s see. Don`t look down on me then, I can be quite competitive if I try to do so!" The Hufflepuff finally replied to the other girl, before also getting up to get her ingredients for the potion.
