It's funny how Cash had sworn to themselves that they never set foot inside of Duelling Club ever again. And yet, here they are standing in the middle of one of the piste. Having the Duelling Captain or Co-Captain was Henry dream. And now it become theirs. Although the throbbing pain of missing their best mate - Henry Knight - slowly subsided, that didn't mean it hurt less.

But it happened in the past and now the fourth year can do is moving forward. There was no use reminiscing about the past. And so, the young Ironwoods looked down on the piece of ripped parchment that contain the name of today's Duellist. Cash cleared their throat and started to call out the name that is shown on the parchment.

"Alright! Bienvenidos welcome to the next stage of Duelling Championship,"Cash said with the best enthusiasm and manner of how a game show host would greet their contestants. "When I called your name, please take your mark on the piste,"They continued. The green eyes looked down again at their ripped parchment.

Three out of four names that were shown on their parchment, Cash knew them but they did not know about the last and definitely the youngest Duellist that will take on today's match. Cash took a deep breath to give the audience a little bit of dramatic pause. "Callista Lovis, Hades Schweighöfer from the house of Hufflepuff to the stage,"Cash called out the badgers.

"Rose Moon and Kim Aoki from the house of Gryffindor also take your mark,"They instructed the Duellist even more. When all the Duellists stood on their respective sides, Cash would shoot them a small smile. "Welcome to the gate of hell and be prepared to meet your doom"The Cuban descendant let out a small chuckle.

"I expected all of you to know how the rules and regulations 0f Duelling since this is not your first,"Cash addressed this to Callista Lovis, Kim Sato, and Rose Moon. "And for the freshie, if you don't know how Duelling works, tough luck! You can ask your seniors about it,"The Slytherin Beater said some more.

"I know you can't wait to annihilate one another. So without further ado,"Cash then took out their own wand from the wand holster that was strapped on their left upper arm and pointed up in the air. "Wand at the ready! Get set! Violaceous!"They said the perfect incantation and move their wand in a perfect fluid motion for the Purple Firecrackers - Conjuration Charm.

As the purple firecracker boomed and fizzled out above the Duellist's head, the four of them may begin their duel. "Let's the battle begin!"They instructed in case the four of them missed the first time Cash said it.

It was Saturday, January 29th at around 12:30PM.

Earlier, three people who considered themselves to be friends of his, had done their own matches.

Eun-ji, Monica and Taizu were the ones referred to. Although Kim did feel a connection with each of them, only the former was someone he actually felt close to. By close, he meant regarding sharing personal things with at random times. Of course not everything but there were certain things they found themselves sharing with eachother from time to time. Monica he'd come to get to know better during that time she'd gotten them both locked into the abandoned toilets for awhile. And Taizu.... well that boy had always stuck to him...

From the very beginning back at the sorting ceremony in 2021, Taizu had immediately clicked with him. Probably because Kim had been able to speak Japanese, and speaking in Japanese made Taizu a lot less nervous. He'd been able to cheer Taizu on from the spectator seats earlier, along with Eun-ji and Monica too. Thankfully, both matches had taken place during the morning time, which meant they didn't get in the way of his own match in the afternoon. Kim was glad he was able to support Taizu's first official match here now.

It was something he hadn't been able to do for Eun-ji.

Because he'd been supporting Gia at the time. But he'd gone to see Eun-ji after her first match at least.

This time he'd been able to support all three of his 'friends', although Match 4 had been a bit conflicting for him. After all, Eun-ji had been up against Monica and Kim supported both of them. However, he did feel a bit more inclined to cheer for Eun-ji just because of not being able to do so the last time she'd gone up onto the piste. Returning back to the present, Kim headed up onto the stage as his name was called out. The moderator for his match this time was a familiar face. Cash. They happened to be part of his Tri-Cook Club...

And a few of the other clubs he was in too. It was surprising to have his preferred last name called out, as this was an official event, but Kim was grateful to Cash for taking his preferences into account. As he stepped onto the piste, he glanced over at his opponents. Hopefully, this time would be better than the last time. Win or lose, all Kim wanted was to make sure he had a fighting chance this time. He'd look out for his partner but didn't want to have to carry the whole match by himself. Kim might have had insanely good luck.

But that didn't mean he was invincible.

Not against two people at the same time. He might be able to survive for a round or two on his own.

But eventually he'd get worn down and taken out. That was why matches were set up two vs two. Not two vs one. When one got taken out, the advantage went to the other side. After taking his place, Kim looked over and inclined his head to his new partner. Rose Moon. He didn't really know her but she seemed focused and determined just like him. This was a good sign and he had a good feeling about this particular match. They would crush their opponents! Ironically, their opponents were Hufflepuffs again for this particular match.....

It was almost as if the fates had intervened to give him back his lost chance at a win. Kim didn't recognize the Hufflepuff girl, Callista Lovis. But he recognized her name. The other was new to the dueling scene but he was already familiar with him. Kim had met Hades back in May, when he'd been in the greenhouse. He'd known Hades had wanted to join the dueling club but hadn't actually known when it would be, or that they'd be paired up against eachother. It hadn't been until later that year that their relationship suddenly changed.

At the Sato Yule Ball.

"Let's do this!" Kim said as he glanced over at Rose again, preparing himself for the match.

Unlike many duelists, Kim didn't try to irritate his opponents. He was very quiet and straightforward. The teen liked to amp up his own side and have a fair fight between them. It was just how he was. A faint smirk came to his lips at Cash's words about the gates of hell opening up and he glanced over at Hades and Callista. As Cash started the match with the conjuration of a purple firecracker, Kim quickly got to work, doing exactly what the two of them had discussed beforehand. Whether it succeeded remained to be seen....

Duel: Stage 2
────────────────────
It was the second duel Hades attended. Unlike the first, this was the first official duel in which he was involved. That had caused him a tumult of emotions difficult to describe.

Since he knew who he was going to compete against, he couldn’t help but feel a pressure on his chest. Sometimes he couldn’t help but think that he could cause enough damage to who his rivals were. But there was another feeling that prevailed over the others, one that was

difficult to resist. It was his loyalty to the Hufflepuff house. That had made the badger decide to strive and lead to glory. He shook his head and waited to be called. He was examining his rivals, assuming they were to be from other houses. Instead of feeling nervous, he was indifferent, his presence highlighted by his height. He was tall, though Kim nearly caught up with him.

He was waiting and that’s when the girl mentioned his name, making him stand up and walk to the right place. Then they called his rivals, who turned out to be a girl named Rose ― was this name too common? And Kim. Although it was up to him to face Rose instead of Kim, which had made him more willing about which spells he could use and his hesitation about whether it would cause damage. He raised his eyebrow looking at who it was called, unable to avoid it “It is ironic as I could have brought the hell myself.” joked with a smile. His eyes focused on his rival “Good luck, also you too Kim.” he replied, preparing his wand as he tried to think of a perfect spell.

Mentions Galton Landsdale, @Kim Sato, Alec Mason, @Cassandra Ironwoods, and the Hufflepuff opponents
Another day, another duel. After the past few weeks of preparation, the day was finally here. Rose had been up way earlier than she probably should have, thinking about dueling. Instead of just letting herself sit in the thoughts of worry, Rose busied her hands. She finished up some homework, she braided her hair, then decided she didn't like it, and un-braided it, then braided it again. Her hair always needed to be out of her face while she was dueling, like with most things she needed to focus on. She didn't mean to get up that early, of course, but she just couldn't push it from her mind. The intermittent hope, with the constant dread.

Her last duel had been disappointing. She has been the only one to be knocked out in the duel. At least Galton had checked on her in the hospital wing, which she appreciated. Galton had been an excellent partner. Rose was crossing her fingers that she wouldn’t be the weak link in the group of duelists on the stage.

Again.

Over the eight duels Rose had fought (eight was right, wasn't it?) she had at least six dueling partners, Kim being the seventh. Rose couldn't remember one that she didn't like, but she had to admit she was a little biased towards Alec, who she won three of those duels with, and saw outside of dueling multiple times. She didn't know what it was about him, but they just seemed to... click when it came to dueling.

But Rose had decided that so far, she liked Kim. They had been planning their strategy and practicing together outside of lessons, so that they were fully prepared for their duel. He seemed like a strong duelist, even though he had a little bit less experience than her. They had a good chance of winning that day. She tried to tell herself that, but anyone who was paying attention could see from her fidgeting hands that she was nervous.

Cash called them up, and Rose brightened a little. She liked Cash. The Slytherin was a little chaotic, as most Slytherins were, but it was a good chaotic. The type of chaotic that made life more interesting and more full, and not darker. The drama was evident in their voice as they introduced the duel.

Rose took her place. She was hoping that it wouldn’t be as bad as Cash was ramping it up to be, since that would make for a quite violent duel.

She grinned towards Kim as they took their places. “Best of luck,” she said warmly. (Even though she didn’t really believe in luck.) “We’ve got this.” She wasn’t sure if it was more to Kim or to herself.

She smiled at the other team, a small offering of friendly peace before the duel.

Alright, let's be honest. Calli was just a tiny bit more confident after winning her last duel (the first one in almost two years but shh). She was still vibrating with nerves as she waited to be called up, and her leg was bouncing uncontrollably, but there was a little less anxiety and little more anticipation.

This match would probably be much more difficult than the previous one, considering poor Starlee's partner had refrained from doing much of anything, leaving the Slytherin alone against Calli and Jake. Calli highly doubted that would happen again this round─Rose and Kim both looked quite bright-eyed. It didn't help that she had a new partner, a fourth year relatively new to the duelling piste... again. She didn't know Hades as well as she had Jake, but he seemed approachable when they had briefly discussed strategies beforehand.

As the duellists ascended the stage, Calli managed a smile at Cash's joke. Perhaps she was more nervous than she'd thought because her breaths were coming out short and quick─rolling her wand between her fingers, she took a deep breath. As inconspicuously as possible, she let her gaze wash over the Gryffindors, mentally recounting what she knew of them.

At least they seemed friendly! Unlike some duellists she knew. Calli returned Rose's smile, glancing once more at Hades before readying herself for the duel.

As the signal had been given by the Beater, four sets of wands are pointed from different directions. The first one who slings her spell was Callista Lovis. The badger said the perfect incantation and made the perfect wand movement for the Blindfolding spell. With precise calculation, the black fabric was produced from her wand and fly towards Kim Sato, and that make one less blinded lion.

Although he is a new face and a rather unknown name in the Duelling world - at least in Hogwarts ground - it didn't deter Hades Schweighöfer to cast his own spell. With a resounding Expelliarmus, he pointed his wand towards one of Gryffindor's tenure Duellists, Rose Moon. Tough he might try, his Disarming spell didn't hit his intended target.

As Rose Moon perfectly knew the wand movement by her heart. Perhaps it is why Rose Moon could evade the spell before it could hit her. Rose Moon's wand is still intact in her hand and thus the duel continues. On the Gryffindor's side, the lion duo had their own strategy on how to take down their opponent.

Copying what just Callie did to her partner, Rose Moon also tries to casted her own expertise of the Blindfolding spells. But unlike Callie, who successfully blinded Kim for the time being, Rose Moon's brand of Obscuro didn't hit Callista Lovis as the badger could dodge the incoming attack. The last one who slings his spell was the youngest out of the three, Kim Sato.

Kim Sato had been a bit longer in the Duelling Club than his opponent Hades. Although he is blindfolded, he still could be cast out for the Curse of the Bogies. But perhaps if his eyes weren't being blindfolded by his opponent, his spell could hit Hades Schweighöfer. Unfortunately, it was not the case since Hades are dodging the incoming assault and free from the spell.

It was an official duel.

One where he'd been paired against someone he actually knew. The teen's relationship with Hades was...

Complicated. Up until the Sato Yule Ball, they had been relatively 'friendly' to eachother. But it hadn't been anything more than that, Kim had to admit he thought Hades was actually closer to Shiro than him. However, all of that had changed when they'd been introduced to eachother. As in officially introduced, and it had come as quite a surprise to both of them. After that, things had changed between them and now they had a complicated relationship, one where they didn't exactly know how to behave around eachother... Yet...

Eventually, they would both have to meet in private and discuss the matter, but Kim had been really busy and Hades probably had been too. Or else he probably would have come to seek him out by now. Maybe both of them had been avoiding bringing up the matter because it hadn't quite sunk in yet. And now, they'd been paired up against eachother in an official duel, not only that but it was Hades's first duel, which was always important. Part of Kim wanted Hades to win his first duel, as he'd done with Galton. But at the same time.....

For Hades to win his first duel...

That would mean Kim would need to lose. And that wasn't something he was prepared to do.

Not even for Hades. Not after what had happened last time. He was determined to win this one and get back on track again, as long as Rose remained focused and in the game, unlike what had occurred with his last partner. As greetings were exchanged between the participants, Kim was glad there would be no unbecoming behaviors. Duels should be respectful by nature, especially since there was the potential to be severely injured in the process. You also didn't want to get a bad dueling reputation, as it might carry further onward.

Kim was currently wearing a dark blue silk outfit that had a sprig of flowers with stardust scattered over them on the left hand side of his chest. He was also wearing a multiple blue toned necklace and matching earrings with a white beaded headpiece on top of his head too. The blue haired teen's diamond pride bracelet and pearl bracelet could also be seen around his left wrist. Kim nodded when Rose spoke. "Focus and win. That's all there is to it!" He murmured to her, trying to encourage the girl and ramp up her confidence....

The first round began.

Unfortunately, Kim was hit by Callista's spell right off the bat, as he tried to cast his own at Hades.

As a result, his spell didn't find its target, as his vision became obscured by a familiar black blindfold. This was what had happened during his last duel too. But he'd been able to remove it within a matter of seconds. He'd been somewhat panicked last time. This time wasn't as bad as last time. Kim believed he could hang on for a bit, even if he didn't manage to get it off his eyes. All he had to do was focus on the duel and not let his imagination run wild or his focus stray from his current situation. There was only one problem to face now...

Make sure to dodge any incoming spells. He'd done it before and could probably do it again but it was still inconvenient for him. Kim heard another spell being cast, this time by Hades, but he didn't hear any resulting reactions or hits, so assumed the boy's spell had also missed its target. As for Rose's spell, Kim wasn't entirely sure whether hers had hit or not because his eyes were covered at the time. There weren't any audible noises either from either side, so it was hard to tell if it had found its mark or not. Could it have hit??

Kim couldn't help but hope for the best because he wasn't in the best situation right now and felt exposed.

Not far away, Kim heard someone call out his name. Shiro was there. A faint twitch of his lips was seen. Lately, it seemed as if Shiro followed him everywhere. He couldn't help but admit that it was rather nice to 'see' a familiar face all the time. Part of him warred about feeling this way, telling him that it was a bad thing because it could become another weakness to destroy him from the inside should things go wrong, like with Sophia... But at the same time... Kim still didn't know how to handle the chaotic feelings inside him. Not yet.

Duel: Stage 2
────────────────────
The first time Hades cast a spell in a duel... And he failed. That made the badger feel confused, a little angry because he had felt embarrassed. That wasn’t a positive feeling, really. How was that possible? And to get into the worst, he had been exposed to the group of spectators in which they had come to watch the duel. He tilted his head... At least his partner had gotten Kim to be blind “Good job, Callista. You did it!” the boy told to Callista. At least there was something positive.

Rose had failed to perform the same spell as Callista, only that it had failed being hit to her target. With Kim, he tried to hit Hades with a spell, but the boy, taking advantage that his friend was blind, was able to dodge it. Well, he was safe for now. The only one who had been affected was Kim, being blind. Being the first time he was in a duel, he wondered how long the blindness could last. All the four were able to move on to the next round, and here is the new attempt to perform a spell.

Feeling a little insecure, he looked at Callista for a few seconds, seeking advice. But as he did not want to distract his partner, he remained focused, looking at both rivals for a couple of seconds. At this point he was thinking about who his next target should be. Hades did not have the luxury of thinking too much, he needed to concentrate and empty his mind, in order to perform the enchantment. Now he was ready, decided who was going to be his target.

@Kim Sato, @Cassandra Ironwoods, and the Hufflepuff opponents
The duel started, and the chaos began. “Obscuro!” she said under her breath, aiming her wand at Callista. Callista was able to dodge the spell, however. Rose saw the spell that Hades cast at her rushing towards her, and slid out of the way. Okay, she was alright this round.

But Kim wasn’t. A blindfold wrapped itself around his eyes. Rose could remember the panic of not being able to see, even if it was only for a few seconds. The blackness was scary enough, but when coupled with the adrenaline of the dueling stage, it was so much worse. “Hang in there,” she murmured, so that just Kim could hear.

One spell hit for the Hufflepuffs, and none for them so far. They had to bounce back, to be on top. Their first impressions on the Hufflepuffs were messy, but they could fix this. It was just the first round.

And Rose was not going to let the Hufflepuffs win.

Theory: A little bit of confidence leads to better performance?

This round certainly seemed to be going better than her previous first rounds, but it was also likely that her memories were fading and (a little bit) distorted. "Obscuro." Calli's enunciation was smooth, and the flick of her wrist was a practiced one. This spell was a personal favorite of hers; seeing the black cloth tie neatly around Kim's head sparked a bubble of satisfaction in her stomach.

With a swift duck, Calli sidestepped Rose's own blindfold with a breath of relief. Rose, too, seemed particularly on top of her dodging game, and she evaded Hades' spell with ease, much to Calli's chagrin.

On the bright side, the Hufflepuffs had the advantage (for now)! It was up to them to keep the tenuous grip on their lead.
⠀Kim I have so much respect for your lengthy duel posts
