I am so late to this, but I was reading back: I personally think it is dependent on your character! For more reserved, bookish students I recommend the Augureys. If you’re more jumpy and excitable I recommend Jackalopes, and for those more in the middle I recommend unicorns! Really, though, it’s up to you and what you think might interest and excite your character best. Jackalopes and Augureys probably have the most potential for a personal connection—just because there are more! Happy creature caring.
