This was Delilahs first duel that she was modding, she had spent the last two years just being on the other side of the field, but this time she was the one making sure nothing went wrong. And she was watching none other than Dmitri, the first person she had ever duelled. Even though she wasn't supposed to be biased, she definitely wanted him to get knocked around a bit, maybe it would curb off some ego. But anyway.
"I'm sure you guys know the rules, you've all been at it a while. But just quick run down, only spells allowed, don't go punching anybody, lets keep it fair! Everybody who gets knocked out will be treated immediately." Del had a feeling this duel was going to be mildly brutal, but it was going to be fun.
"Everybody ready? Lets go!"

Dmitri strode into the dueling stage like he owned the place.
And to be fair, he—out of anyone in the club—has the right to say he probably does with the number of victories he had achieved in this room.
Coming off of the high from winning his first duel, albeit very narrowly, the boy squared his shoulders and loosened his limbs. Just another easy game...
This time, he was paired with Winters, one of his previous teammates. And though the girl did have a few wins under her belt, Dmitri did remember doing most of the work in their prior duels.
"Would you finally be able to carry your weight this time around, Winters?" He'd remark snarkily.

When Opeila first heard of it, she thought it was a joke. They paired her with Dmitri, the most arrogant snake around, again? Somehow she thought that after last year everyone had enough of the two of them obliterating other students, but... apparently she was mistaken.
On the day of the duel, Opeila turned up rather grumpy. So not only was she to duel side by side with the disliked ex-captain again, but also against another 4th and 6th year... Fun.
And of course he couldn't resist to be a bully before the duel even started, but Opeila wasn't down for it this time. "I'm sorry, Jones, were you saying anything of relevance?"

They were back at it again. The second stage of duelling had arrived, and this one promised to be even more stressful than the last. While Evelynn had committed herself to solitary practice, determined not to demonstrate that she was just as capable a duellist as she was a seeker, her confidence had waned some when the pairings had been announced. She would be partnered with Vanes, a notion that was a touch bittersweet. On the one hand, he was a familiar face and somebody she had always greatly respected and admired. There could be a certain sense of comfort having that baseline of trust in their dynamic. On the other hand, he was a familiar face. Which meant the shame of a poor performance would be greater. Not only that, but he was one of their captains. She was under the light, and it was rather uncomfortably hot.
If she thought that was going to be the worst of it, however, Evelynn had another thing coming. Resolute, with head held high and shoulders squared, the lioness had climbed the steps to the duelling stage only to feel her stomach fall a few inches. If she wasn't already so pale, members of the crowd may have been able to see her blanching. Jones. Of everyone she could have been paired against, it had to be one of—if not the—the most renowned duellists on the scene. Ruthlessly skilled with an attitude to match. And Seilun. Someone Evelynn would rather not have had to face as an opponent for feelings of sentimentality. This could prove to be a rather unpleasant contest indeed.
Her gaze flicked over to Vanes to read his expression (and perhaps for a touch of reassurance), the pad of her thumb idly rubbing at the polished wood of the wand hovering low near her thigh. "How shall we go about this?" she uttered quietly.

Alan hopped onto the stage with light feet and joined Evelynn. It has been a while since they stood next one another in a sports event, last they had been flying on brooms attempting not to get killed by a stray bludger. His gaze dropped onto their opponents and Alan steeled himself, trying to be an image of confidence and competence though he knew that their opponents were scary this time around.
Eve's words carried over to him and he returned her gaze with a reassuring grin. "I'd say we beat them, Dmitri truly deserves a taste of loss, don't you think?" there was no malice in his word, just a strong hint of well intended challenge, perhaps a bit of hopeful confidence.

Eve is blindfolded
Despite Delilahs both fear and excitement of chaos, not a whole lot of chaos occured, both slytherins tried to put up a shield, one of which succeeding, one of which failing. Alan caused the slytherins to be shrouded in fog and finally Eve tried to blindfold Dmitri, much to her own detriment as her wand puffed with a small amount of smoke and the blindfold slapped itself over her own eyes.
Okay maybe there was a little bit of chaos.

Dmitri smirked even as his vision blurred under the influence of a conjured fog, courtesy of the Gryffindors. "I mean, I did say Winters, so I guess there is just a touch of irrelevance there..."
Chuckling to himself, he'd finally face his opponents, who honestly really just didn't capture his attention enough—only to end up letting out an audible laugh at the way one of the Gryffindors' spells just backfired on them.
"Elementary."

How much worse could the first round have gone? Well... alright, maybe it was a plus on their side that Evelynn managed to blindfold herself instead of Dmitri. A big plus. But immediately, of course, immediately Alan had to conjure a cloud of fog on their side. How much time had Opeila spent in her last duel battling smoke and fog? If this duel was to go the same way...
As for Jones- she could only scoff at this... yes, quite pathetic comeback. "Don't you ever get bored by yourself?"

Alan looked over to Evelynn in light surprise when he noticed how her spell backfired and grimaced slightly. "Are you alright?" he wondered. Perhaps her nerves were really getting to her after all. She was duelling against two quite experienced duellists after all, but Alan needed her to try to be confident in her abilities. "Try to calm down, then we will have no issue winning," he said with a nod, that she couldn't actually see now but perhaps she could hear it from the tone of his voice.

The sliver of a smirk was cast in Vanes' direction at his proposal to defeat Jones, but it wouldn't last long. Of course it would be nice to deliver the Slytherins a nice loss, the lioness had been hoping for something a little bit more substantial. Her senior always did seem to be more relaxed in his approach, reminding her of water that would ebb and wind in whatever way it needed to descend a hillside. But she was hoping for something a touch more concrete to carve their way to victory.
When the call to start sounded, she moved swiftly. Perhaps too swiftly. Aiming to disorient and incapacitate Jones to give them some breathing room, something went amiss. In a flash, the stage went dark. Her stomach dropped. A sliver of hope pleaded that it was only because of the fog sent forth from her partner, but the tightening hold of linen around her face strangled any such notions. Her heart spiked, a foot stepping back reflexively. By the sounds of it, both of their opponents had opted for a defensive start. That wasn't likely to hold, though.
"I am fine," she answered back to Vanes hastily, a hand already lifting to feel out the blindfold. It needed to come off, and it needed to come off fast. A snake could taste weakness, and Evelynn had already stumbled in her casting.
