Amina was bored. She hadn't flown all last week and gradually the ceiling fell on her head. Or rather, the ground was too much for her. Besides, the weather was bad. Not that that would stop her, but right now she just couldn't find enough people who would venture out onto the quidditch field just before the tournament and risk catching a cold.
All the pent-up energy was looking for a way out and that would definitely not lead to anything good. Amina whistled softly a tune she had picked up from Valentin (Katyusha) and playfully hopped from one leg to the other while she walked next to the snow-white seeker. Yes, the castle was beautiful and all. But yawn! Why was there nothing going on right now?!
With flashing eyes, she spun around her own axis and grinned teasingly at Valentin. "I'm bored. Let's do something fun. We could go get the brooms and fly up to the roof. Then take a run-up and jump down and see who dares to fall longer before we fly on!" Her brain was already spewing out suicidal plans to lighten the crushing boredom a bit.
While other children felt sick at the thought alone, the risk filled Amina with anticipation and adrenaline.
In the meantime, she walked backwards in front of Valentin, that certain glimmer of stupid ideas in her green eyes. she had gathered her red-tinted hair into a little ponytail. She had exchanged her school uniform for her favorite washed-out jeans and a dark red sweater that, as always, clashed beautifully with her hair.
She boldly brushed a loose strand behind her ears and nodded affirmatively at her own suggestion, still walking backwards. "Now that sounds like a great - oh whoops!"
Suddenly stumbling, she spread her arms like a tightrope walker and elegantly caught herself again. Frowning, she looked around to find out the cause of her stumble. Next to the armor, which stood in the corridor as if it were a matter of course, a shield lay on the floor. "Sir, I think they lost this!" Friendly, she picked up the shield and tapped it against the empty helmet of the armor. The clanging sound rang delightfully in the ears.
"Do you need this again?" She was about to put it back on her arm when she made up her mind and turned to Valentin. "Or...."
Her eyes slid to the stairwell right next to them and a joyful tingle spread through her belly. Anticipation. Unreason. Danger. Fun. Her favorite mixture. Thoughtfully, she propped the shield on the ground in front of her and nodded down the stairs. "I bet I can slide down those stairs, and I can make the first turn. What do you think?"

As they walked side-by-side, the familiar notes of “Katyusha” drew Valentin to join in with Amina’s whistling, punctuating the melody with soft singing of its lyrics. Like her, Valentin was languishing under the slow pace of life walking the castle halls, and the music brought a modicum of relief to the girl's kindred spirit. Even that couldn’t stymie the chaser’s thirst for adventure for long, however.
"I'm bored. Let's do something fun. We could go get the brooms and fly up to the roof. Then take a run-up and jump down and see who dares to fall longer before we fly on!"
Chuckling, Valentin loved when Amina thought of something fun to do. It was one of the best parts of being around her.
“I’m in.”
Amina continued by walking backwards in front of Val, only to soon stumble. Valentin extended his arms and lunged forward in case she needed something to grab onto, but when the redhead spread her arms like a tightrope walker, she elegantly recovered on her own. Amina was actually quite coordinated – why had she stumbled? There – a shield had fallen from a nearby suit of armor. As Amina tapped the shield against the armor’s head with a clang ringing out, Valentin laughed again and watched as she continued on to indicate the stairs with the placement of the shield nearby.
"I bet I can slide down those stairs, and I can make the first turn. What do you think?"
“I bet you can. In fact, I bet you can make the second turn, too. Show me, and I’ll go next.”

Stamina: 5The whole tournament was really boring. Like… deadly boring. Like… please-come-Avadra-me-boring. Finally deciding to end my torture, I left the room and snuck out to the corridors. As I traveled down the hallway, I frequented from hopping down like hopscotch and running and jumping. I was lively okay!
"I bet I can slide down those stairs, and I can make the first turn. What do you think?" who was that? I don’t ever think I’ve ever heard before. Getting curious, I walked closer to the voice.
“I bet you can. In fact, I bet you can make the second turn, too. Show me, and I’ll go next.” another one! Wait, this sounded really dangerous… and fun! I just knew that mum would disapprove! She would hate that I am thinking of surfing down the stairs! And grandpa! “You’re meant to be a gentleman!” he would say. There would be no voice change but his body language would scream disappointment, he would sigh and not look.
“Can I join?!” I near enough shouted, a hopeful grin spread on my face. They sounded like they were racing down the stairs! But even more fun! “Please! I’m really bored and that sounds dangerous… but fun!” a mischievous smirk played on my lips. “I’m Lucian! Feel free to call me whatever nickname you can make from that. Be as creative as you want!” I added.
I looked at one of the girls there, she looked older than me but she caught my eye. After dragging my eyes away I spoke to them both. “What do I need to do?”

Writing as approved Durmstrang iNPC Vyacheslav PreobrazhenskyIt was just over a week until the start of the Hexwizard Tournament and Slava was excited. Not that he was participating, no no, he would be a spectator. And a proud one at that, for he was a Durmstrang student and he knew that there was no universe in which his school did not seize the victory. Besides, the people representing the school were great too, some of whom he’d call friends. So, all in all, he would be cheering so loudly when the day came that it would burst the eardrums of all who made the poor choice of sitting near him.
For now, he was wandering the corridors of Hogwarts with a smile, looking for anything interesting, vaguely concocting ideas for pranks in the back of his mind as he went. He jogged down the unfamiliar hallways, dark curls bouncing gently as he went. And that was when he heard it—the clanging. It sounded sort of like a gong, but tinnier. More unnatural and irregular. Surely that meant something interesting was at its source. Slava’s eyes lit up and he picked up his pace, running in the direction he reckoned the sound had come from.
He arrived shortly, spotting Amina and Valentin, Durmstrang students that he knew reasonably well and was certainly very comfortable around. He skidded to a halt near them, almost falling with the lack of transition between the speeds, arms windmilling to regain his balance. «Приветик Мина, Валя,» “Hello Mina, Valya,” (nicknames, and an affectionate “hello”) he greeted with a grin, giving Valentin a playful punch on the upper arm. He noticed the other student with them—presumably from Hogwarts, speaking English without a foreign accent.
Slava lifted his hand to the space above his forehead to tip an imaginary hat to the whole group, a little chuckle escaping his lips. “My name is Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich, but please call me Slava,” he informed the other boy—Lucian, he had said? The Russian had arrived in time to hear them sizing up whether Amina could make it down the stairs on the shield that she had placed in front of her. “YEEEAHHHH MINA,” he yelled obnoxiously, cheering his encouragement for the world to hear, a giant grin spread across his face.

Amina beamed at her pale friend and felt the strong urge to express her affection. He always was down to go stealing horses with her. Nothing could make the young Bulgarian happier. ”I am so glad I got you! I never had friends that wanted to do all the fun stuff!” Following her impulse, she would give the star seeker a quick and warm hug with her free arm, pressing him against her and then backing off, softly poking him between the ribs with a giggle. Teasing was how she expressed her love and affection.
With a twinkle in her green eyes she seized up the stairs. two turns, carpet. Fairly long and steep. Shouldn’t be too hard, right?
“Okay, let’s see! Ready, steady…?” And just when she was about to place her improvised surfing board down on the edge of the stairs, more people joined the fun. Apparently her drum solo on the poor empty knight had summoned more students in the same spirit - getting a nice and fun distraction on this boring afternoon! Amazing.
The first boy was a younger student she had never seen before. A young little lad looking for an adventure. The redhead tilted her head, she offered him a wide grin. “Hello, Luci! Of course you can join.” She immediately took him up on his offer to use a nickname, although her creativity was probably more useful when it came to ideas to kill time. With a frown, she looked at the stairs. “Not too dangerous, I guess, but still a lot of fun! I will try it first and then we can see who makes it the furthest!”
All excited, she turned back to the stairs again as another Durmstrang joined. Slava. She really liked the boy, he was fun to be around and always down to try things. "SLAVA!" Her greeting was appropriately enthusiastic and she did a cute little hop of joy on the spot. With wildly sparkling eyes, she looked back and forth between the three boys. "This just keeps getting better and better! Oh! I HAVE AN IDEA!" Now she was really bouncing up and down like a rubber ball. "What do you guys think about collecting more shields and making a little game out of it! A chocolate frog for the prettiest or funniest stair surfer? And by most beautiful, I mean the type of surfing, not the person. Otherwise I would have won already and that would be boring." Amused, she stuck her tongue out at her friends and playfully winked at the young Hogwart student. Of course, she was just kidding, but if she could embarrass people with it, all the better.
She solemnly placed the shield on the floor and spread her arms like a ballerina about to balance on a rope. Actually, she had wanted to sit down first to try out how the shield slid over the stairs. But the audience and Slava's cheering spurred her on to take more risks. And Amina loved the risk. "Dear audience! Pay attention! You will now admire the first stair surfer!"

All her quidditch experience clearly gave her a strong advantage on this task. She lightly hopped on the shield, using the momentum to slide down the stairs. Softly crouching in her knees, arms stretched out to both sides she managed to keep her balance. As the first turn approached, she used her bodyweight and a strong impulse from her legs to force it around the first corner, sliding down the second level with a good amount of elegance. Arriving there she jumped off the shield and let it bonk against the wall.
Looking up to the guys standing on the top of the staircase, she waved and squeaked full of joy. “THAT WAS AMAZING!” Eagerly, she collected the shield and sprinted up the stairs. Oh man, she had missed exercise!
Taking three steps a time she was back up there in no time. Her cheeks flushed in excitement, she placed the shield back down and ran to a few more knights that stood on the wall. Returning with an arm full of shields, her smile was even wider than before.
Just dropping them next to the staircase, she made an extravagant bow and gestured at the new acquired boards. “C’om on! Next! I’d say we can start when the other person reached the next level so we don’t have to wait that long!”

“Eyy, Slava!” grinned Valya from ear to ear following the other boy’s playful punch to his shoulder. Val loved that kind of greeting, especially from people he really liked, such as the ex-beater. Things are about to get even funner, thought the frost captain. “Are you going to watch the match? Stribog, it’s been too long since we got to do much together. Have you gotten your grades back up? I wish you’d come back to the quidditch team. It’s really not the same without you.” Before he could continue, a Slytherin boy approached and Valentin tipped his head in greeting.
“Nice to meet you, Lucian.” It was a curt greeting, but Valentin had an objective in his sights and wanted to get to it ASAP. Val didn't bother to introduce himself, for that matter, as he was used to most people knowing him even if they'd never met before. Turning his silvery eyes to the stairs to watch Amina, Valentin began to cheer as she started her descent. This is our chaser, alright. Making it look easy. Clapping with perfect rhythm, Valentin grinned as Amina flew down the stairs like she was born for this. When she returned, Val squeezed the girl tight, just as affectionately as she'd hugged him earlier.
“Alright, guess it’s my go.” Literally sprinting at the next shield, Valentin leapt into its concave metal with the hope of going extra fast from his added momentum. With arms out like a surfer, Valentin cruised into the stairwell standing up like a surfer. His eyes glinted with joy and determination as he beamed a toothy grin. This was why he loved Amina. Now he had to show her only his best, applying himself with as much focus, speed, and skill as he could summon while he attempted both turns.

@Aida Mórsgor-Ama Ellwood, @Ileen Knight & @Ruby CazarezHouse Colours: GryffindorCalming Presence in EffectYawnarama. That was honestly how the boy was feeling about his experiences in the school insofar as classes at this point. Yeah, sure, there were the foreign students... but they literally just lived here like parasites as far as Piérre was concerned. As far as he knew, they weren't even attending any classes or anything, they were just hardcore vibing and possibly causing trouble when the staff had turned a blind eye to them. To be honest, he would have much rather been a foreign student at this point of time as opposed to being a boring Hogwarts student. It seemed like those foreign peeps had more freedom of action in the walls of the school; they certainly didn't seem to get into as much trouble as some of the Hogwarts kids that Piérre was acquainted with, for instance (himself included).
Well, after the debacle that was both the Fall Ball and the first trial of the Hexwizard tournament, Piérre definitely had two different strains of thought; one was that honestly, people could have died at that Ball due to the presence of that cursed whatever the Hell that thing was that had decided to splashdown in an area with a high concentration of young students, and that Piérre was probably lucky that he didn't have to answer to any higher ups concerning the incident (he had made sure to clean the 'crime scene' well, if you know what I mean), and he had of course tried his best to follow up after the whole Hexwizard event just to make sure from a distance that his brother had not suffered any further bodily harm than he already had. Poor Romeo usually had a lot to deal with anyways... the least that the flightier of the Gemello could do for his taller sibling was to ensure that he was able to stay standing long enough to keep fighting for another day.
Gaaaaaahhhhhhdddd... the stairs. Piérre hated stairs. It was always such a waste trying to climb them quickly, and then if you climbed them too slowly you were either late to class or your thighs burned like nothing else. It wasn't too bad on its own, but he was also wearing a satchel at his side that had all his books and he had Figaro around his shoulders. Fortunately he had had the insight to not wear heavy clothing, electing instead for his thinnest school robes inseamed with Gryffindor red (ew) and a pair of black dress pants/shirt underneath so that he was 'modest'.
A sound from overhead caused the boy's piqued ears to suddenly pique forward just in time to witness a redhead come hurtling down the stairwell towards. With a start, the boy froze like a deer in headlights, bright eyes going wide as a sudden look of concentration appeared on his face as he decided the best way to leap to avoid the hurtling shield. With a decision, the boy took his cat into both arms, tossing Figaro gently towards a suit of armor while he himself dove for cover near a bench by the wall, pressing himself up against it as flat as he possibly could as he watched the person hurtle by... on a shield?
Okay... now Piérre was intrigued. Certainly he had thought about shield surfing before... but he had never tried it with all the prefects that were usually crawling around the general Corridor area.
Mmmmmmmaybe that was high time to be changed.
"Ey, mama mia! I'm-a walkin' 'ere!" Piérre waved a fist at the girl in a teasing gesture, playing into a mocked up New York/Italian accent as he grinned. "Salute!" He shouted up towards the small gathering at the top of the stairs."Mind if I join in as well?" He called out gaily. It wasn't until he managed to shut out the trick of the light through the grand castle windows, that the boy realized that there was a certain pale boy that seemed just about ready to perform his own trick.
Oh, how interesting. Surely that couldn't be the one and only Valentin Schnell, the King of Durmstrang's match and the king of the pitch.
How innnnnnnteresting, indeed... That was the one guy who *cough cough* seemed to have a *thing* for his brother that was visible from literally miles away. Perhaps this would be a good chance to get to know the kid better... maybe he could even observe, observe and try his best to glean as much knowledge as he could about this strange, yet surprisingly sweet, kid.
"Aight, gimme one. Hmmmm, this one's good." Piérre collected Figaro, who had been laid over the shoulders of one of the suits of armor, putting the bengal back upon his own shoulders, and then gently taking the shield from the armor. "You don't mind if I take it, right? I'll give it right back when I'm done, okay?" The boy smiled towards the defensive suit before finally climbing the stairs one by one and then reaching the top with a couple of steps of leeway. He was going to try and be fancy with it, but he was just warming up. First he had to wait his turn, of course... then he could really blow them away with a disastrous failure or an applauding success.
For him, there tended to be no in-betweens.

Writing as approved Durmstrang iNPC Vyacheslav PreobrazhenskySlava grinned widely at the reception he received between Amina jumping up and down and the reward of Valentin’s smile. “Of course I will watch the match, who do you think I am?” he responded to Valentin, clutching his chest dramatically and looking at the white-haired boy with mock disgust, as if he was thoroughly appalled at the idea that he could ever think Slava wouldn’t watch something like that. “I will be the loudest cheer when you win.” Valentin mentioned Quidditch and Slava felt a pang of longing, sad that he had had to leave the team of his companions and favorite sport in the first place. “I miss you guys too. I will be there before you know it,” he assured him with a smile and a small pat on the shoulder before his attention returned to Amina and the chaos she was about to begin.
She proposed turning it into a full game, where everyone grabbed shields and the best would win a prize. Slava was extra invested now. Not that he cared about prizes, no, he was just there for the silliness and to spend time with friends, but he always enjoyed competition. Really, this couldn’t get any better—competition, people he liked, and adrenaline were all present. A perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. “Mina, Mina, Mina,” he began in a “tut tut tut” kind of way, shaking his head in disappointment. “You’re pretty, yes, but have you met me?” He fluffed up his curls and put a hand under his chin, tilting it slightly up in a playful pose to showcase his “beauty”. He stuck his tongue out at her in return when he was done. She was pretty—really pretty, in fact, so much so that his gaze lingered for just a little longer than it would on most people (Lovely Creature)—but he could never pass up an opportunity to show off in any way possible.
Amina gracefully surfed the stairs, so naturally that it was almost like she was born for it. Slava clapped loudly and whooped, continuing to hype her up and make sure she was celebrated. “That was incredible!” he praised as she made her way back up the stairs. He picked up one of the shields that she had gathered and watched as Valentin started his turn. “Let’s go Valentin,” Slava whooped, emphasizing the last syllable in a playfully deep voice and clapping. Being cheered on would not be an unfamiliar experience for Durmstrang’s Seeker, but it never hurt to add to it. Slava firmly believed that boosting people’s ego was not a bad thing—it would be great if everyone had confidence in themselves.
A newcomer arrived and Slava gave him a quick nod and a smile. The new arrival’s attention seemed to be more on Valentin, which was perfectly understandable, but Slava would offer a “Welcome to the chaos,” anyway, accompanied by a cheeky grin. The short Russian would then drop his shield at the top of the stairs, making sure Valentin was out of the way before he made his own attempt. “Watch this,” he said with a playful, cocky smirk to no one in particular. He then leapt into the air, spinning in a full rotation before (hopefully) landing on the board and setting it into motion, a “wheeeee” and laughter fading in volume to the observers as he (presumably) made his way down the stairs, curls bouncing with each step the shield thumped down, the hair blowing out of his face from the breeze generated.

MODERATION ROUND ONE
The fire that burned in Amina quickly spilled into the other members of the small group. At least to most of them. Valentin (@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood) was already almost on his own shield as Amina came running up the stairs after her own successful surfing attempt.
On her way down she had almost hit the poor @Piérre Marchonné. Instead of getting out of there as fast as he could, he decided to join the fun and relieved one of the knights of their shield. However, very politely. We will see if and in what condition he would return it. Judging by the mischievousness in his eyes, it would probably be a few dents and scratches richer. Let’s stay tuned. Maybe he should give a shield to the quiet boy, @Lucian Mornstern.
The two Durmstrang boys, Valentin Slava (@Ruby Cazares), who had clearly been enthusiastically cheering and praising Amina, now decided to show what they were made out of steel.
Both were experienced athletes and most likely had a penchant for adrenaline kicks. They didn't want to just surf down, no.Their fans and their audience should experience something special. They wouldn’t do a testrun. All or nothing.
All excited and beaming, Valentin (@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood), the white seeker, prone to be quick and fast, went first. Following the style of the elf Legolas, he threw the shield on the ground, like a stone that was supposed to jump over the water, and ran after it.

Apparently, his fine motor skills to catch the scampering snitch applied not only to his hands but also to his feet. Elegant as a gazelle, he leapt onto his shield - that was the moment when his long experience as a Quidditch player kicked in. With ease, he landed precisely on the slippery metal, balancing his own momentum perfectly. As if he did nothing else every day, he glided down the first set of stairs, unaffected by the increased difficulty the momentum brought. With strong pressure from his legs and just enough drive, he maneuvered around the first curve and continued his success.
But as he prepared for the second turn, the board suddenly began to lurch. The Seeker would try to bring it back to its steady course with his legs, but the rattling steps caused him to veer and he felt how he slowly lost control over the board. Although he would have steered the sign perfectly again this time, he couldn't get enough momentum with his legs to bring the vehicle in the new direction.
Valentin noticed the imbalance and would jump off in time. He landed elegantly on the last landing and caught his shield before it could take off on its own.
Attentive as he was, he would also spot Slava, who was now making his way as well, and stepped aside to make room for the next Durmstrang.
Slava (@Ruby Cazares) was already in the starting blocks when Valentin got over the first flight of stairs. He would also start with an experiment. A full turn in the air and then landing on the prepared shield - that was the plan. Less speed, more ballerina style.

Although it was a daring maneuver, the boy managed to stand a good landing and then slipped on the stairs. He was less fast than the Seeker and less elegant than Amina and Valentin, but he had a firm grip on the sign with his legs - and quite honestly, what he lacked in elegance in surfing, he had made up for with his start. and it was still very coordinated. This Quidditch player also had an easy time with this task.
He also mastered the first curve with ease. It was almost boring. These kids were just too good at risky ventures.
But as the second one approached, his right leg suddenly stopped playing along. A cramp, probably caused by the unaccustomed strain, suddenly put it out of action. It simply buckled out from under him and catapulted the young boy off the shield. He would land on his feet with enough opportunity to stretch the cramp out of his muscle while his shield did the running on its own. Alone, it slid down the last flight of stairs and would be the first to make it all the way down. But without a rider.

Bypassing Trouble

German | English | Mother | Father | Grandad | Brother
1) Style of sliding (sitting, crouching, standing etc.) - StandingEveryone flew down the stairs and I watched as someone agilely flew down the stairs on the shield, secretly cheering them on, when they lurched. Sadly they managed to caught themselves before any major harm was done. I watched everyone else go, sad I didnt see a major crash. I just know that I will end being yeeted across the place! “My turn!” I yelled.
I took a moment to look at everyone, I had never met any of them before. I wouldnt even know where to start with introductions! Ilene seems nice though! And I hope the others are too! I got in place with my heart beating in my chest, I quickly tucked my snake necklace under my shirt and wearily looked down. I got the shield and placed it where I think would be best, “Really hope I don’t die!” I shouted, running up and jumping onto the shield. “Woa- ahh- whoooooo!” okay so what if I nearly slipped as I jumped on, I didn’t! Not yet anyways!
I spread my arms out to keep balance and bent my knees slightly, leaning back a little. I was at least going to make it down the first set of stairs! I grinned and my heart lept as I felt myself move.
2) If you attempt to do a turn (2 are the max, then the stairs are over) - Both
3) If you want to start your sliding in a special way (e.g. get pushed by a friend, run, just sit down and slide etc.) - run to shield and jump
