The ultimate guide to recruitment.
That is what Simon Kincaid needed as he started up his very own (wizarding) photography club there at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To make the club work, members were the most essential part as he had figured out all the other details - so now he just needed to get the word out and get others interested in joining!
He was going with the 3Cs approach to recruitment - Clarity, Communication, and Closure.
He had already worked on Clarity.
He had clearly defined the vacant role - members needed for the LUMOS! Camera Club. That was an obvious realization. His second step in Clarity was for candidate attraction and advertising the role. He had made posters which now currently hung in the Small Hall, Study Room, the Lavatory, and Library. This spilled into the second C in his approach to recruitment - Communication.
Another added part of Communication was happening that very afternoon. Simon had now also created smaller flyers in which he was going to pass out to students to help get the word out. He placed one of these in the Hufflepuff Common Room and got other students to place one up in the Common Rooms of the additional three houses. He also went out to canvas for his cause personally, handing out flyers when he saw someone that might be interested - rather a friend or someone he had yet to talk to before.
It was out on the Grounds that he spotted the shorter dark-haired girl. "Looking for a way to light up your time at Hogwarts? Think about joining the LUMOS! Camera Club," he said with a big grin because of the cheesy play on a light pun. Maybe it wasn't his best opening line. Still, he handed out a flyer to her so she could look it over in case she hadn't seen the information posted about it around the school.

-----Rarely would you find Caoimhe sitting outside on the grounds during a brisk December day, but with her belly full from breakfast and a restless desire for a change in routine, Caoimhe decided to switch things up today. Green eyes would scan the grounds for a familiar face to possibly interact with, but today she'd find only upperclassmen from each of the houses parked here. Not that there was anything wrong with that, of course, Caoimhe was a social butterfly and would talk anyone's ear off if they let her.
Sitting alone on the cobblestone bench, Caoimhe dug into her small handbag and pulled out a letter written by her parents wishing her a happy belated birthday. The girl could barely believe she was 12 now with how fast time traveled during the term. Her head hung low and a few strands of her long, brown hair slightly concealed her face as she read each word with care. A white-painted fingernail brushed each stroke of ink that would be scrawled on the paper. She smiled somberly at the thought of them but knew that they'd be reunited in June.
Approaching footsteps caught Caoimhe's attention and she set the letter aside to give full attention to the stranger. Instinctively, the young girl moved with haste trying to fix her hair which was now slightly out of place. The young boy stood tall beside her and spoke: "Looking for a way to light up your time at Hogwarts? Think about joining the LUMOS! Camera Club," he spoke with a cheeky smile while handing her a flyer. Caoimhe was familiar with the design as she'd see them on her way to her classes and one in the Slytherin common room.
Her eyes scanned the flyer admiring the detail that was put into it by the older student. Perhaps this is what Caoimhe needed to get her mind back to ease - a hobby of course! She looked up and smiled brightly at him. "Actually, I'd love to join. Can you tell me more?" She would begin to put away the letter that once resting at her hip into her bag, and give the flyer and student her full attention. Caoimhe was genuinely excited about joining a club and capturing art with other students, and all the new friends she'd make too.

Tell her more? Oy, this wasn't in the plan. He didn't have some prepared speech to deliver and he was caught off guard, but not scared away. Simon Kincaid enjoyed talking to others and so he sat himself right down on that cobblestone bench beside the girl and smiled to her brightly. "Yea, of course!"
He, too, had his enchanted satchel over his shoulder and when he sat down he pulled it onto his lap. He placed the extra flyers he had for the club inside as he began to root around, looking for something in particular. It didn't take him long before he found it and he pulled out his wizarding camera.
"I've recently become interested in photography and wizarding photography. We'll use something similar to this, or this one if you'd like to borrow mine, and we'll take some film and develop it and turn it into photographs - moving photographs." He wasn't sure if she was purely from the wizarding world but if not, he knew that would be an amazing thought because it was to him and everyone else he had talked to that came from the muggle world. It was like a gif on the computer - but one you could print out and hold in your hand. Absolute magic!
"We will do photowalks and hopefully some other gatherings as we learn the craft and maybe meet a new friend." And at that, he looked up from the camera and to the girl. "Which...leads me to a nice segway - Simon Kincaid, Third Year Hufflepuff, founder of LUMOS! Camera Club, and potential new friend" he said, placing the camera ontop of the bag and extending his hand out to her.
