WHO WE ARE?
*Please note that this is an IC Club (In-Character Club)
LUMOS! Camera Club is a photography-based student club at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was founded by Simon Kincaid in 2023 and was originally sponsored by Hogwarts' own former Caretaker, Finley Greer, who was a former professional photographer herself.
WHAT IS OUR MISSION STATEMENT?
LUMOS! brings together people with a love of photography, where photographers of all levels build friendships, inspire creativity, and grow as artists, while fostering artistic and technical development.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Activities of LUMOS! Camera Club include taking photographs, developing film, making prints, photo critiques, photo walks, photo challenges, guest speakers, an art show/gallery, workshops, coverage of various school events, open darkroom time, and compiling a photography notebook.
WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?
LUMOS! is not only the wand-lighting charm, but in this case is also an acronym for Let Us Meet On Saturdays, as the Club meets in the Room of Requirement the first Saturday of every month - with darkroom use, breakout sessions, and other events happening throughout the year.
WHAT WILL I NEED?
You won't need your own, but any manual, mechanically driven (that does not use any electricity or batteries) camera can be used at Hogwarts. Caretaker Greer and others have graciously offered to loan out some equipment for students who either do not have a camera of their own, or would like to try something new. Darkroom equipment and supplies is supplemented by the school.
To meetings, bring your camera, film, prints for critique, your wand, a photography notebook, a quill/pen/pencil, an enthusiastic attitude, a thirst for knowledge, and a smile!

- March 2026 - A whimsical curious tea gathering to practice using cameras with refreshments, snacks, cameras to try out, and a "random prompt draw" activity for subject matter.

What sparks your interest to join?: Music, food/sweets, arts, crafts, drawing/sketching/painting, writing, sports, pretty much everything there is in the world that can be done for entertainment, Kim has dabbled in. Mostly because his curiosity could never be quenched and he wanted to learn about everything he possibly could at a young age. This in turn tended to get him into trouble all the time as a child but he never lost that sense of wonder when he focuses on a project.
He also has been interested in photography and camera work all his life too. Using wizard cameras he's developed portfolios and scrapbooks of his time as a child and his many projects. So he is no stranger to this particular topic. He also has some decent skill. While he might not consider himself to be an expert, he's decent when it comes to wizard cameras and developing pictures taken on one.
But Kim has no experience when it comes to muggle cameras. Upon seeing Simon's poster, he immediately signed up, since it's about photography and he couldn't pass up a chance like this.
