At noon, I was downstairs, ready to do the last verifications for tonight's party and the arrival of Anastasia and her mother, who are staying until we go back to Hogwarts. My parents finally agreed to start a new "party chapter" in their life. Before my birth, my parents would organize winter and summer parties, they would travel all around the world and attends a lot of parties. They would work too. A lot. But travelling and partying were importants things in their lives. And now, thirteen years after their last party, they finally decided to organise a winter party. And they were giving me the organization of almost everything.The party will take place in the three major rooms of the ground floor : the ball room, the dinning room and the little salon. The guest comming with floo powder would arrive in the only fireplace of the manor connected to the Floo Network : a huge baroque fireplace near the stairs. Looking at it, I saw that the fire was guetting low so I added some wood. Then I went to the ballromme to check if the room was clean, the flying candles flying nicely, the magic instruments in place and the table for the small buffet in place. Everything was in place so I moved to the dinning room, where the large table was already settttted and ready for the guests arriving six hours later. I reajusted the flowers of one of the bouquets and went into the little salon.
The salon was actually quite big, and everything in it were in different shades of blue, gold and black. Three sofas and a fireplace were forming a square and a low table was in the middle. On the table, some card games were nicely disposed. Two huge windows were opening on the outside, both on the same wall and I could see somme snow in the front garden. The third wall was actually a library. A billard table was standing not far from the library. Everything seemed perfect, and I was pretty proud of it.
"You did a verry nice job, Astoria." I almost jumped of surprise and turned around to see my mother comming in the salon. She was beautiful in her deep blue suit. "Thank you Mother. I'm sure it doesn't reach your talents in organization but I'm happy of what I've done." Nervously, I watched her walking through the room, inspecting every details. "Actually, I think that at your age, I would have done something awful." she said with a laugh. "If you want a tip, work on the outside too." I smiled at the compliment and told my mother that I would take care of the outside right now.
I left the salon while Mother was replacing a family portrait. I called Kukka, my house elf. "Kukka, please bring me my coat, scarf and a hot chocolate. We are going to decorate the outside." The elf bowed and went running to my room, upstrairs. While she was looking for what I asked, I went to the hidden glove box and grabbed my white gloves. Kukka came back and I put on my coat and scarf, before taking my drink. "Now let's go. I'll need your help." "Yes Miss." I opened the door and we went outside.
Drinking my hot chocolate, I thought of what decorations would look good and told Kukka what I wanted. She snaped three times. One for the ice butterflies that were now flying around the iced fountain; one for the candles floating safly around the two tree boarders ans one for the Christmas decorations that appeared ot the first floor windows.
It was freezing and I was ready to get back inside when I heared the gate's bell. It was probably Anastasia and her mother. Happy about it, I walked fast to the gate and openned to my best friend and her mother. "Hi! How are you?"

I had helped Anastasia and her mother to settle in, because they would stay with us until Ana and I would go back to Hogwarts. I had explained to her the program of the party and then we both changed. I was wearing a gold and silver dress, with black heels. I went back downstairs, where my parents were already checking the very last details with Anastasia's mother. We were now ready to wait for the guests.

My hand was a little bit shaky when I applied my eye liner, but the result was good. I was sat in front of a mirror, in the room that I was going to occupe for the next few days. When Astoria invited my mother and I to her winter party, she proposed that we could stay at her place and go back to Hogwarts together. She was my best friend, I wasn't going to say no. So there was I, preparing for the party. I didn't even knew who was comming. Astoria told me that her french cousins were comming, and the others were Hogwart's students.My make-up ready, I added a pin to my hair and stood up. My mother and I were the only one alowed to wear black, because we were still supposed to be mourning my father's death. He died in April, and back then, I was almost in depression because I kinda blamed myself for his death. But now I'm getting better - thanks to Peter and Astoria - and the black dress was more symbolic than anything else. And I also really liked the cut of it.
I grabbed my lace gloves that I bought last year and thought that I was never wear. Finally ready, I went out of my room and went downstairs to find my mother, also wearing a black dress, Astoria with a gold and silver dress and her parents, wearing matching silver outfits. They were ready to start the party. But was I? I think so.

Winter party
Cynthia had been wavering about clothing. She finally decided on the Billowing Ballgown from Gladrags Wizardwear. Of course, she thought about the Gown of Seasons — pretty as it is — she might never use it other than this occasion. Alas…she had even considered the Cloak of Ravven…but that really did not go with her Billowing Ballgown — which was white. She stopped at the Cloak of Ravven though — some contrast might be nice… yes fine… she was buying it.
Back in her manor, Cynthia started to consider her hair…quite short, for a girl. Finally she decided that she would let the Magic Hairpin she bought decide. It braided two ponytails at her side and then joined them up on top of her head. It looked quite good.
Cynthia was not unfamiliar with makeup — despite her young age. She applied a reasonable amount — but nothing too overblown. She thought she looked good in the mirror. Cynthia smiled at herself. Now, shoes. That was not a problem — she had bought a pair of white high heels — seemingly non-magical — with silver filigree. She slipped on her lace gloves with again — silver filigree (they came as a pair).
‘Mother…Mother! I’m ready!’ Cynthia’s mother stepped into her room. She smiled at Cynthia and they conversed shortly. Finally, they stepped out into the cold winter air. Cynthia’s mother, still familiar with the flying horses of Beauxbatons — managed to get her and her daughter a flying carriage.
They finally arrived. When in the carriage, Cynthia looked over the guest list. She only knew two people — Kim Sato and Pea Elena Fowl. Kim led the fashion club — which she was in… as for Pea Fowl…they disliked each other — but Cynthia still kind of admired her…yet she was trying to keep all of that secret. All in all...it was just complicated. ‘Mother! You should have told me the guest list! I don’t get along well with Pea Fowl.’ ‘Worry not, child. I heard she is lovely…quite pretty, too!’ ‘That’s just her veela charm getting to you! Inside she’s quite horrid…let me tell you!’ Cynthia protested. Her mother pursed her lips. ‘Now now child — let us not disregard her simply because she is not completely human! This is not nice — it is prejudice, my child.’ ‘ I didn’t mean it that way, mother.’ ‘Come on, dear child. Our hostess is waiting.’ Her voice turned steely and cold. Cynthia stayed put quite stubbornly. ‘Un, duex, trios. One, two, three. ’ Oldest trick in the book, but Cynthia sighed and jumped out of the carriage.
Her mother went over and pushed the doorbell. She gestured for Cynthia to hurry.

As soon as we received the invitation, my mother could not help but jump for joy. And my father seemed proud. I understood later that evening why both had such good reactions. My father, Oshi, had joined me in my room to talk to me for a while.
- You know, Kai, he said, this is a great way for you to grow among your people.
I replied in a defensive tone:
- But father, the girl who invited me is not even pureblood..
- If she invited you, then there must be other purebloods at the party. Take the opportunity to widen your circle of acquaintances, that's how you'll have better relationships and connections later on.
With that, he left me to think about how the evening would go.
That evening, my mother had taken care of my outfit herself. Totally in keeping with the theme, she had chosen to make me shine, bringing me a suit with a gold jacket. I got my jet black hair from my father, and my older brother, James, the eldest in the family, didn't hesitate for a second to mess it up after my mother straightened it.
- Hey, that's not cool James ! I shouted at him in Japanese (as we often spoke to each other in my own grandfather's language)
- You look better like this, bro.
After that, it was time to go. After a quick goodbye to my sister Jia and a friendly tap to James, I headed for my fireplace, praying I wouldn't arrive full of dust.

The latter part of this month had been hectic and crazy as usual for the Sato family. Kim was exhausted. He wasn't really the type of person to go to balls, events, parties, celebrations etc... but was forced into it by his parents. After all, he was a Sato and as such he had a reputation to fulfill, regardless of his own feelings. Kim was able to hide his last name at school from people, other than staff members, but at events like these it was impossible to do so. Not to mention the fact that balls and parties such as these tended to have what seemed like hundreds of people. Of course, that was not good for his condition. But no one cared about that. By this time, Kim had already gone to two holiday balls, including his own, and his parents had gone to eight others. Together, the Sato family had gone to ten so far and there were still more to attend later on. They'd already RSVP'ed for seven New Year balls and had signed Kim up for three more. Unfortunately, the family couldn't attend those three as they'd already promised other people to go to theirs. However, that was what they had Kim for, to send in their stead and they'd made sure he knew they expected a full report back home. On everything that went on at those balls. This evening, Kim was going to yet another ball, this time it was Astoria Swann's ball. He didn't know her. Well, not well at least. He'd seen her around Hogwarts now and then but hadn't ever had the chance to meet her. The Swanns were known in the wizarding community though, so naturally Kim needed to get to know them better on a social basis. That was what his parents had told him anyway and that was all that mattered to him right now. At least keeping busy like this was making it easy to not think about his own troubles. He was getting worn out just attending all these balls and events. Maybe he would be able to actually sleep later. Kim was wearing an entirely white suit with gold designs all over the outer jacket. A white belt with gold clasps was wrapped around his waist, holding everything together. Below, a pair of white pants and high lace-up boots completed the outfit. A lone silver and black crusted earring was somewhat visible from beneath his green hair and a silver ring graced his right forefinger, along with a thin gold bracelet which completed his look. The whole outfit made him look quite dashing, but then he'd always been a bit attractive. A fact the teen had come to hate... and a sigh escaped his lips. Kim didn't want to go but it wasn't as if he had a choice in the matter. Therefore, here he was. At least Bailey would be there. He wouldn't be completely alone. Kim tilted his head to the side to ease out the built-up tension inside his neck. The teen reached up to tuck a stray strand of green hair behind one of his ears. He'd been informed via owl that guests could arrive by use of the Floo Network or through other means such as by door. Kim had decided upon the former and since Bailey didn't have access to wizarding transportation he was going to pick her up. Once he'd done so, he'd explained to her about how this worked.. Clear pronunciation was very important. Thankfully, she didn't seem to have any trouble on her first attempt at using the Floo Network, at least this time that is. How did he know this? Because if she had, she wouldn't have ended up in the same place as him. After they'd arrived at their destination, Kim glanced around the area. They'd emerged from a huge baroque fireplace near a set of stairs. The green haired teen turned to glance back over at Bailey. "You alright? Let's head in." Kim said and set off to track down their hosts.... Ah there they were. Kim spotted a younger person in a lovely gold and silver dress with black heels and zeroed in on her. She was definitely one of their hosts. The girl even looked somewhat familiar. Perhaps she was the one from Hogwarts? Astoria Swann if he remembered the name correctly. There were two adults standing next to her, both in silver outfits. Yes, they were the hosts of this ball. "Come, let's say our greetings and move into the main area." Kim murmured to Bailey as he headed towards them. Once in front of the hosts of the party, the green haired teen inclined his head towards them. As always introductions would come first.... "Kim Sato. I'm representing the Sato family, who extend their apologies for not being able to come. They already made prior engagements at other balls but are looking forward to seeing you again next year." Kim told them. Of course, the Satos already knew the Swanns. They knew everyone in the pureblood community and were at least aware of almost all of the wizard-borns and halfbloods too. Naturally, they would have seen the Swanns at some point in time. "This is my plus one, Bailey Glade." Kim added, glancing down at the girl by his side. |

Bailey was a social butterfly, there was no denying it. She was enjoying all of the balls and parties she had been attending, though they were slightly confusing and a tad tiring.
But today she was letting Kim take the lead, as he seemed to actually have experience with these sorts of things. There was way more about his family than he had told her, but she hoped that there was a time that he would feel comfortable telling her exactly who his family was and what they did and such.
Bailey was excited and nervous when Kim arrived to pick her up, and her nerves grew as he explained how they would be arriving at the party. Traveling by Floo powder was something completely Foreign to her, but she was excited and also terrified to try it.
Kim did a great job at explaining, and when they arrived Bailey controled the urge to look around in awe. Holding onto Kim's arm, with her own arm mostly covered with silk gloves, Bailey smiled at Kim when he asked if she was alright.
"i'm great - and i forgot to say this, but you look... really good." Bailey started off with a strong smile, but as she completed her sentence, Bailey dropped her gaze, blushed and then quickly looked back up, hoping Kim hadn't noticed her blushing cheeks.
whyyy am i likeee thisssss???????? she moaned in her mind. thank goodness Kim can be oblivious sometimes... especially to things like this.
As they walked inside, both Kim and Bailey immediately spotted their Hostess, and Bailey let Kim lead her forwards. Bailey held the hem of the skirt of the dress her mum had bought with her grandmother, for her own use all those years ago. The dress was precious, and Bailey was careful not to trip over her own feet. Heels could be hard to walk in at times.
Kim introduced Bailey after introducing himself, and Bailey smiled.
With that smile still in place, Bailey nodded her head slightly, and said "the decorations look truly wonderful - you did a delightful job!"
Bailey glanced up at Kim, though the distance between them was much smaller than usual, and she smiled a different smile, one she kept just for him. One that had previously been used for her first love, James.

Damion had made his way to the Winter Ball. He was pretty excited for it. He was sure he would be more excited for it once he saw the younger boy he was crushing on so hard. He was hoping that Kim would be here in this shindig. He was not sure about it.

Anyways, he was pretty excited about it. He was glad that he had not gone back home during this vacation or else he would have missed these parties. Well he was pretty excited about it now. He wanted to see what the whole thing was all about.
He made his way to the party and smiled. He was very happy to be a part of this thing. He looked around as he walked inside the Swann Manor. He spotted @Cynthia Beaufort. He smiled and walked to her. "Hello Cynthia." He said looking at her. "That is a really pretty white dress." He said smiling.
He nodded to her as his eyes scanned the room for the one person his heart was set on. Yes! KIM!
He spotted Kim with ugh Bailey. A part of him hated that they were always together. He made his way to @Kim Sato and @Bailey Glade and smiled. "Wow you two look really pretty" He said. "Especially you Kim." He added as he blushed. It was no secret that Damion was falling for the younger Gryffindor boy.

It was 10 in the morning, and Eloïse was already starting to get ready for tonight's party. It's not that she was super exited - she wasn't - but the Duciel were currently in France, in the Vosges, and the party was in Scotland. The journey from la Maison Duciel to the Swann's Manor was three hours long with their flying carriage. So they had to leave by 4pm.

Five days ago, when Eloïse went to get breakfast and saw the invite on the table, her first reaction was to sigh. Astoria and her wern't in best therms at the moment but their respective parents didn't know. She knew she'll have to go that party because her parents would obviously think that Astoria and Eloïse were still best friends. So she decided that she was either going with her boyfriend or not going at all. Eloïse knew that this party was for Pureblood and for Purebloods only but since it wasn't written on the invite...
The reason why Eloïse was getting ready six hours before leaving was because she decided to dye her hair in a darker and warmer shade of red and cut them a little. She also had to choose a dress that was ok with Astoria's dresscode, and all her accessories. Once she had her hair done and her outfit disposed on her bed, she went to eat lunch. And at 3:30, she was ready. What she had planned with Lloyd was simple. Between 3:30 and 3:50 she would go to his house with floo powder and then they would return to Eloïse's house by the same route. And then, Lloyd and Eloïse's family would go in Scotland with their flying carriage.
After three long hours in the carriage, the group finally arrived to the Swann's Manor. They entered and Kukka took their coats. Hélène hugged her sister and Astoria gave Lloyd and Eloïse an icy look. One room, two different moods. Three, actually. After hugging her aunt and uncle, she looked at the room to see that they were definitly not the firsts to arrive. Two girl were here with their respective mothers, a boy was here by his own, there was apparently a couple and an older boy who was greeting everybody. Two guests were wearing black, a very pale girl and her mother. Hadn't they read the invite card?
In the huge hallway of the Swann's Manor, there was three different moods. The family reunion mood, the icy mood and the friendly mood. This was promising.

Lloyd was so excited! His love and girlfriend, Eloise, had invited him to a Christmas or Holiday party, one that she was also attending.
In preparation for the ball or party, Lloyd had requested that his sitter Rose, who wanted to be a fashion designer.

Taking her hand, they headed to her home and set out on their journey
Arriving, Eloise seemed to know people, so he stood a step behind her, smiling happily. If addressed he would shake any hands offered, and in his French accent introduce himself.

Therefore, when Bailey told him he looked good, Kim simply nodded and wrapped an arm around her waist to pull her towards him. "You do too. Let's head inside." He said smoothly and ushered her forward away from the fireplace. After all, others could be arriving via this method too. The last thing they wanted was for someone to end up running into Bailey and causing a scene. That would have been a nightmare for someone like Kim. After the introductions were over, Kim steered Bailey away from the crowds and over towards a more open area. Where he could breathe. It was then that a familiar face showed up, Damion. Kim gave him a faint smile and nodded to his friend. "You too." The green haired teen said in response. "Tell me, are you here with anyone?" Kim asked, curious. Who had Damion brought with him? There weren't many people present at the moment but then the party had just started. Some guests were probably just running a bit late. Kim made a cursory glance around the area. Astoria and her family were present of course, with the former donning a lovely gold and silver dress. One family stood out, as they were clothed completely in black dresses and outfits for some reason. Kim wondered why they'd chosen to go against the dress code? But he didn't say anything as it was not his place to do so. This wasn't his home and he wasn't in charge of things here. If the hosts had a problem, they would let them know. If they didn't mention it, that meant they'd already given permission. Kim glanced behind him, sensing the arrival of someone else. It was an Asian boy, one who looked somewhat familiar to the teen. He couldn't quite place him though right now. |
