Winter Sky Letters

Dialogue: X | Thoughts: X
The sky was a light blue-grey color and the soft breeze was blowing cold. The all picture gave the sensation of freezing in time. It was the last Sunday before the winter break, and Irina was walking melancholic through the stone arcs at the Courtyard. She wished muggle tecnologie could work at Hogwarts, she would love to have her AirPods and her phone with her so she could be listening some music. In the future, she could try to create something like it! She made a mental note for that future project. For now, the only sound she could hear was the sound of raining water, made by the beautiful fountain in the middle of the cobblestones ground, and the soft giggles and voices from other groups of students that were also outside enjoying the fresh air.
She was mumbling a soft song while looking down on her footsteps, when she heard a familiar move sound in the sky. She looked up to find Luna a barn owl, her family's owl. What is she doing in here? Did mother sent me a letter? She thought intrigued, walking slowly to the open space, so Luna would see her better. The beautiful bird landed on her left shoulder with a letter on her beak, reaching it towards Rina. The curl-haired girl took the piece of parchment from her Owl friend and offered her a small treat wishing her a good travel back home. The lovely owl nudged Irina gently with her little head on the girl's cheek and took flight again, towards the winter sky.
Irina sighed at the vision, she also missed home, she wished she could go with Luna. But then she turned her gaze down to her hands. It was a simple envelope with her mother's beautiful and delicate letter.
Sighing Irina let her arms fall at her side feeling her heart a little sore by her mother's words. She closed her eyes meditating about what she had just read. Deep down she knew her mother was right, she knew, rationally that she'd not shown the best side of her. But she got so bored sometimes...she felt the need to get rid of her numb limbs and that itchy energy! Also, the adrenaline of being breaking the rules was something she got addicted too, that makes life so much fun! She knew she would not be able to explain her parents all of that, they would not agree with her, not in. a. single. word! But she would be visiting her grandmother! She also didn't knew how to feel about that! She always loved to go visit the Dark Forest and it's magical creatures...but the wolf community can be tough and harsh on her. She's a half-blood, the only one in there with that blood status and she knew she was only accepted and tolerated there, because Greta Meyer, the ancient wolf, was her grandmother.Dear Irina,
Hope this letter finds you well, however we need to have a talk. I know I could wait until you got home for these winter hollidays, however there are things that need to be said at the right time. I've received a letter from headmaster Lear telling me about what you've been doing. Let me tell you that what I felt reading it was nothing but shame and disappointment. What is happening in your head Irina? Two detentions? One for sneaking out after curfew and another for being at Hogsmeade? Who do you think you are young lady, to be above the school's rules? This is not how I've been raise you! You're better then this!
Haven't you been reading the papers your father sent you? The world is not a safe place! There is a constant threat over our heads and we have a reputation that we need to contradict! You know that! Me and your father had been fighting all our lives to change things, to educate you to see things clearly and not make fool decisions! You're not a baby anymore Irina! You've twelve years old! You're a child but not a silly, empty headed one! You know the consequences of our acts! You know when one of us acts reckless it's an image that got imprinted in all of us! You have that responsibility! You're at Hogwarts for Merlin's sake! A full community of witches and wizards! The same community that one day will be on our side or against us! Remember that child, you're building your future! We'll talk about it when you get here! Mom and Dad missed you so much!
Another thing, your grandmother Greta Meyer sent me an owl yesterday. You're going to pass the 26th and the 27th december with her in Wolfach. I'm hoping, and I'm serious Irina, that you'll show a better behavior there!
With love,
Ingrid Meyer
Suddenly Irina senses got caught in something else...a scent that kept mixing with her own, since they share the same small space every night. She could hear her soft footsteps approaching. Opening her eyes, Irina turned slowly on her heels, to face her friend and dorm mate, Beatrice Dupont, "Hey Bea! How are you? It's pretty cold day isn't it?" Irina asked with a small but friendly smile.

Winter Sky Letters
Beatrice sat on one of the benches in the Courtyard, feeling the cold wind go through her clothes. They felt heavy on her but she didn't feel heavy at all. In her mind she was soaring through the blue and grey colored sky, not as a human on a broom but an owl in the wind. She felt free at Hogwarts and Beatrice wanted to take this free feeling with her, soaking it all in before she had to go home into those trapping walls. Clocks from Coldplay was playing in her head. It was one of the only muggle songs she knew. She mentally thanked the Wizarding Wireless Network that constantly played on an old wizarding radio in her room. The lines "You are, You are Home, home, where I wanted to go. Home, home, where I wanted to go. Home, home, where I wanted to go. Home, home, where I wanted to go" were specifically standing out to her as she sat there, watching the snow fall.
Scotland was beautiful in the winter. Everything was covered in snow, a little sun shining through the clouds and a peaceful wind blowing through everything and everyone. Hogwarts was beautiful and she wanted to stay. It wasn't that her home wasn't beautiful. It was big, had a big garden and even a private quidditch field as well as a pond that froze over in winter. Her siblings and her always played on that when her parents weren't around. But what was a beautiful house and garden when there was so much pressure and an awful energy? Beatrice let out a breath, watching a squirrel run across the courtyard. There were a few people standing around or talking. Some were even having snowball fights and others were building snowmen.
Beatrice stood up at once and started walking. She still hadn't stared packing up her things and it was the last Sunday before winter break after all. Even tho she didn't want to go home, she still needed to get everything done before she had to leave. There were a few things she had bought for some people and she still wanted to give those things to them. Irina was one of them who suddenly called out her name.
"Hey Bea! How are you? It's pretty cold day isn't it?" Her friend had a small friendly smile playing on her lips. Irina was very beautiful and Beatrice just stared at her for a split second before starting to smile as well.
»Hi Irina! It is pretty cold, but the snow's really nice.« Beatrice stopped in front of her friend. She didn't really feel cold, which was weird since she was only wearing one of her thick jumpers, a skirt, tights and boots. However, the thermometer said -10 degrees Celsius which was in fact very cold. »How are you?« only a second had gone by so Beatrice felt like she could still ask this without interrupting Irina.Word Count: 493

Winter Sky Letters

Dialogue: X | Thoughts: X
@Beatrice DupontIt was obvious that Beatrice had been distracted in her own thoughts and steps, judging by the way she first looked at her, like she was surprised to hear her own name be called, "I'm sorry I didn't meant to interfere with what you were doing!" Irina excused herself. She didn't wanted to feel like she was being inconvenient by calling her friend at the wrong time. Beatrice was smiling at her tho, and Irina felt relief that she wasn't really disturbing her friend, at least she hoped she wasn't and she hadn't misjudge her room mate.
"Hi Irina! It is pretty cold, but the snow's really nice." Beatrice said when she reached her in the middle of the courtyard, "How are you?" the beautiful girl finished asking her gently. Irina sighed again, it looked like she got a new habit there... She smiled faintly and looked down at her feet while softly poking a small stone with her right foot, "I'm okay...I guess!" She answered before looking at Bea again. A gentle smile was now playing on her lips, "Just got a letter from mum...she's not very happy with me it seems." She explained, "I can't judged her, I'm not being in my best behavior and I know it. Couldn't have expected that Headmaster Lear wouldn't tell my parents about it!" She admitted shyly as she was folding her letter and putting it inside her bag. "And you're right, the snow is really nice!" Irina said looking at the blue-grey sky again. "I miss home..." She said releasing breath, "How about you Bea? How are you? Do you want to have a seat?" She kindly asked indicating with a nod the edge of the fountain, "Feel free to say no if your busy!" She ended with a timid smile.

@Irina Sousa"I'm okay...I guess!" Beatrice furrowed her eyebrows in a bit of a worried frown. She still remembered the day Irina had her nightmare very vividly and Beatrice was certain that it hadn't been the first or last time Irina had suffered of such a nightmare. She had also noticed that her friend sometimes doesn't stay in their dorm and Beatrice was worried that she might stay in the Hospital Wing from time to time because of stuff that she doesn't want to talk about but Beatrice isn't brave enough to ask her. Irina had a gentle smile on her lips as she looked at Beatrice and Beatrice returned it, listening as her room mate started to talk again. "Just got a letter from mum...she's not very happy with me it seems. I can't judged her, I'm not being in my best behavior and I know it. Couldn't have expected that Headmaster Lear wouldn't tell my parents about it!" Irina explained and Beatrice nodded in an understanding way even tho she didn't fully understand what Irina could mean. She didn't know a lot about Irina's family or her relationship with them. Irina folded the letter and put it in her bag. She almost started talking, when Irina said that the snow was indeed very nice. Her friend looked at the blue-grey sky and Beatrice did the same, just staring at the clouds passing by and watching some snow fall.
"I miss home..." Irina said releasing a breath into the cold air. Beatrice looked back to her friend. I don't. She thought. "How about you Bea? How are you? Do you want to have a seat?" Irina asked in a kind voice, indicating with a nod to the edge of the fountain as if she was asking her to sit down, which she technically was. "Feel free to say no if your busy!" Irina's smile was timid. Originally Beatrice had planned to go pack, but she would much rather to stay here with Irina.
»No of course, let's go sit down!« Beatrice said with a smile, starting to walk closer to the fountain. Once the were seated I'm just assuming that Irina sat down with Beatrice, let me know if you want me to change this!, Beatrice decided to answer her friends question after a little bit of silence. »I honestly don't really want to go home. But I'm fine, thank you.« she said with a soft smile, playing with a lose stray of her long hair. She recently thought about cutting it a little shorter, it really bothered her sometimes. »Irina...« Beatrice trailed off a little, not entirely sure how to ask this question. »Are you... are you okay?« she looked into her friends eyes with worry. »I've noticed that you sometimes don't sleep in our dorm. Are you sick? Do you need help?« Beatrice really was worried about Irina. She had noticed that her room mate sometimes wasn't feeling super well and then she disappeared for a night and came back, looking a little more exhausted than usual. She didn't want Irina to struggle or be sick and Beatrice wanted to help if that was the case. She wanted her room mate to be able to talk to her and be okay and feel safe in their dorm and with Beatrice. »You can talk to me. I'm here for you Irina.« Beatrice took Irina's hand in her own, giving it a little comforting squeeze.

Winter Sky Letters

Dialogue: X | Thoughts: X
Irina felt the fountain stone first with her hand, it was freezing cold, so she made sure her coat would protect her when she sat on it. Cleaning it slightly first, from one or two still remaining leafs she then tightened her coat around her and sat.
She felt happy that Beatrice also has chose to stay. She always loved to talk with her friend, they both had become really close to each other since the beginning of the year. It felt so good to be around Bea, she was always so calm and kind. "I honestly don't really want to go home. But I'm fine, thank you." her friend had told her. She doesn't want to go home? Irina thought feeling concerned with her friend. Who doesn't miss home after so many time away from it? Irina slightly frowned towards Beatrice, but it had been almost imperceptible, "You...you don't miss home?" Irina asked timidly, she didn't want to be nosy about her friend's life, so she felt that she needed to add, "I...I mean...we don't have to talk about it if you don't feel comfortable with it!" She assured with a kind smile and looking at her friend's green-blue eyes. Rina hoped she hadn't gone too far with her question. She waited for her friends answer while she was seeing her play with a strand of her dark long hair. Irina always thought Beatrice had a beautiful hair, she wished hers always looked so soft and shiny, instead it was always a mess of curls bouncing on her shoulders. She had quit for long to try to make it look better! Or at least that it had seen a hair brush!
"Irina..." Beatrice came to her sounding a little hesitant. Irina felt it odd and curious, so she let go of her random thoughts about hair and focused her full attention on her friend trying to understand what had made Bea feel so unsure of what she was about to say. "Are you... are you okay?" Bea asked with a concerned expression. Irina raised her eyebrows in surprise, she wasn't expecting that question. Okay her hair was a little too disheveled but did she looked that awful? Instinctively, she put her hand in her hair and tried to straighten it out a little. "I've noticed that you sometimes don't sleep in our dorm. Are you sick? Do you need help?" Beatrice had continued and Rina felt freeze at hearing her friends last questions. She literally felt incapable of moving a muscle. What she just asked? Irina felt the fear grow inside of her, like a cold invisible hand holding her in place. She started to breath faster when panic started to show up. It's not that she hadn't thought about the possibility that one day Bea would notice, that one day she had to tell her. But tell her what? That she's one of the monsters that everyone had warned her about? That at those nights she leaves because she would transform into a deadly beast? At every thought, she curled more into herself. She lifted her feet from the ground and was now holding her knees to her chest, her eyes were fixated in some random spot while her thoughts run wildly to find a better way to tell her secret to her dorm mate and best friend. What if she lied? Just this time? Perhaps....perhaps she should wait? Wait for a better time? A better opportunity? "You can talk to me. I'm here for you Irina." Beatrice assured her reaching towards her hand and holding it gently, like if she was comforting her and giving her courage. Irina held her friend's hand too, intertwining her fingers with Beatrice's. It was so cold outside but still, Bea's hands felt warm compared to hers.
Rina finally got courage to look at her friend's eyes again. Taking a deep breath she decided that there wouldn't be a better day to say it, or a better moment...she had to let go of her fears and trust her friend. Lying would never be a solution, Beatrice would find out sooner or later and a lie would harm their friendship and trust...Irina would never want that to happen she cared too much for Bea.
She felt tears starting to form in her eyes, she was terrified thinking about what Bea's reaction would be at hearing her truth. But she knew she had to say it... then she closed her eyes and tried to breathe normally before slowly turning her gaze back to Beatrice, "I..." She started but her voice was to weak, her mouth felt dry so she took another moment to find her strength, "I'm sorry not to tell you earlier" Rina apologized, her eyes now full with tears that she was trying to contain, "When I was seven, I had my first instance of magic. In my family when that happens there's..." She stopped, finding the right words were just so difficult. Even if she had to tell her story everyday it seems she would never be able to make others understand it. "There's something we must become." She looked down then, a feeling of shame taking over her. Common just say it Ree! She thought encouraging herself. "My family...they live at the Black Forest in Germany. They, uuh...they're werewolves, all of them. It's their community and I needed to become part of it." Rina bit her lip with so much strength that she thought she could tasted the blood, "I...I'm one of them Bea..." She told in a shaky voice, small tears were now falling down her rosy cheeks from the cold, "I'm a werewolf...That's why at some nights, full moon nights, I don't sleep in our room. I have to leave for a place...a place where is safer to make the change..." Rina finished then, she decided she had said enough for Bea to assimilate everything at once. She decided to wait for her friend's reaction. She hoped, with all her heart that she didn't leave her, that Bea would remain her friend and would continue to trust her and see her for what she really is, Irina Sousa, not a dark monster.

@Irina SousaFebruary 28 Update: Thread is finished with this and being closed because of a few OOC reasons<3Irina hadn't looked at Beatrice once. The whole time that Beatrice had been asking questions, Irina seemed to get more and more anxious. Irina had actually kind of curled up into a ball. It looked like she was trying to mold into nature. Or into herself. She had lifted her feet off the ground and was holding her knees to her chest. She wasn't looking at Beatrice, but fixating onto a spot somewhere in the snow. Beatrice wasn't even sure if her friend was listening, which got her more concerned than she already felt. »You can talk to me. I'm here for you Irina.« Beatrice took Irina's hand in her own, giving it a little comforting squeeze. Surprisingly Irina also started to hold Beatrice's hand, interviewing their fingers and holding their hands together, close to each other yet there was distance between the two friends. When she sensed that Irina had looked back up, Beatrice's eyes snapped from their hands to her Friends face. Irina took a big breath. Both of the girls must have looked extremely worried with each other and possibly some people that would see them would also be worried about the pair, but what where both of these girls worrying about? One that her friend was deadly sick or had something else wrong with her and the other how her friend would react to what she was about to tell her.
Beatrice's eyebrows lifted as tears formed in Irina's eyes. »Oh I'm sorry- you don't have to talk about it Irina!« Beatrice felt utterly bad for making her friend cry but apparently Irina did want to talk, because she started to form shaky words. Beatrice listened to every single word that Irina had to say. Her attention was only on her and she could not look away from her friends eyes. They seemed full of fear and worry. "When I was seven, I had my first instance of magic. In my family when that happens there's..." Beatrice's heart picked up the pace. What was Irina about to tell her? Was it something awful? Had Irina's family done something awful to her? Beatrice squeezed her friend's hands tighter. "There's something we must become." Beatrice's breathing seemed to become faster, just like Irina was struggling with keeping calm, Beatrice was now too. She felt connected to Irina. She did not know why, but she did. Even after so little time, she already loved her friend so dearly. "My family...they live at the Black Forest in Germany. They, uuh...they're werewolves, all of them. It's their community and I needed to become part of it." Now it felt as if Beatrice's heart had stopped beating. Everything around them slowed down and she couldn't hear anything for a few seconds. A werewolf? Irina was a werewolf? No? That couldn't be! Her parents had told her that Werewolves were bad creatures that only mean to hurt the Pureblood's and other people. But was that true? Irina could never hurt a fly, could she? Her name meant peace. Beatrice felt Peaceful around her. Even now that she had just said that, Beatrice didn't feel scared of her friend. She was surprised, maybe even shocked, but not scared. "I'm a werewolf...That's why at some nights, full moon nights, I don't sleep in our room. I have to leave for a place...a place where is safer to make the change..."
»Oh Irina.« Beatrice whispered. Small tears had fallen down her friends cheeks and Beatrice felt tears building up in her own eyes. She swallowed hard. How awful. Her family had forced her to become a werewolf. They had put her in this pain and fear. Beatrice was eleven, she didn't truly understand what all of this meant or what it could mean. She just felt that someone had purposely put this on her friend. She still loved Irina just the same, but had her friend had a choice in this? Was she okay with the way things were? Irina seemed so scared of Beatrice's reaction and it broke her little heart. Beatrice got up at once, not letting go of her friends hand but getting down on her knees beside Irina and hugging her friend very tightly. Almost as if she was giving her a promise to not leave her or be scared of her or feel anything other and pure love and friendship towards Irina. »I'm sorry.« she said. »I'm sorry you have to go through this every month. And I'm sorry that you felt like you couldn't tell me this.« she hugged her tightly, not even attempting to let go.
