The first meeting of the KOLTC Club PV club members Closed

Bailey was finally ready to start. She introduced herself then instructed them to do the same. Kim went next, saying he’d never read the series. That would mean we would have to be careful what we said. I tried not to groan.

A late arrival came next, Bellatrix. She was a kind looking Hufflepuff who apologized for her lateness. I flashed her a grin. Lateness was a great way to earn the spotlight. Unlike me, the hufflepuff didn’t seem to care for the spot light and took a seat quickly.

Valarie was next to speak. I gave her an encouraging smile, knowing that she could be shy at times. ”Hello everyone! My name is Valarie Song. It is nice to meet you all. I am a first year in Ravenclaw. I’ve been reading Keeper of the Lost Cities since they first started coming out. I actually brought all my copies of the books. I hope that is alright,” My eyes widened. She had been reading the books since they had come out? That would have been a long time, probably since she was very young, maybe five or so. I now knew why she was a Ravenclaw. She then said that she had brought all the copies of the books and I looked at her strangely. She had brought all nine, basically ten books with the 8.5? That was an impressive, and expensive, feat.

I realized it was my turn to go and stood up like Kim had, so everyone would be able to see me when I spoke. “Hello everyone, I’m Ava.” I didn’t bother mention her last name, it held none of the royalty other names in the room had. “I actually only started reading the series this year because I saw someone else reading it.” I looked at who was here and was disappointed to see the nameless person who had unknowingly introduced me to the series wasn’t here. “After I finished the series, I just knew I had to drag this one into it with me,” I shared a smile with my friend, first friend, from this new world. Charlie. Suddenly I felt like I was being a little serious, and I decided to tease a colorful haired boy. “I’ve read the entire series, unlike someone.” I let a grin pull my lips so everyone would know I was joking and not being rude. “Yeah. Uh, that’s me.” I sat down and stared at the cookies, waiting for them to do something magical and snap at me. When they didn’t I grabbed two and sank my teeth into them, absorbing the sweet goodness.

It was time for introductions. I knew some of the people, but introductions would be good, so I didn’t have to question myself before I tried to talk to someone.

Bailey went first, and then Kim who mentioned he had never read the series.That’s a relief. I thought, glad I wouldn’t be the only one who hadn’t read the books. A hufflepuff named Bellatrix came in, and seemed alright mad at herself that she was late. It was fine. Valarie went next. I was surprised she had even heard of the series, especially because she was a pure-blood.

It was Ava’s turn. Ava was next to me, and luckily she introduced me. She even rubbed in the fact I hadn’t read the series yet, even though I was holding the very first book. At least I wasn’t the only one who hadn’t read it.

I still felt like introducing myself so I stood up and went after Ava was done. “Hi, I’m Charlie,” I said quickly. “I’m in Ravenclaw, and I am working on the series.” I said as I held up the first book that I was halfway through.

I was done talking, so I sat down and stared at the cookies that were sitting on the table. After Ava grabbed two of them, I followed her lead, but just grabbed one.

Both Bailey and Kim spoke when Beatrice entered the room and asked if this was the meeting she was supposed to be in. Kim kindly told her to sit down and Bailey welcomed her as well. Beatrice gave both a small smile before walking over to one of the chairs and sitting down. She hadn't sat down next to anyone, two empty chairs where on either side of her. Since Beatrice didn't know anyone here, she felt awkward sitting next to someone. She had seen Kim and Bailey walk around the halls, but Beatrice had never talked to anyone here. Apparently the Club meeting was starting now, because Bailey stood up and started introducing herself. Kim was next. He said that he hadn't read the books yet and Beatrice started becoming a little anxious. What books were they talking about? Was this Keeper of the Lost Cities name not a metaphor but a book? How could she have missed that if it really was a book? She bit her lip, listening to everyone else as they introduced themselves as well.

Another girl bursted in. Beatrice didn't know her. Everything was soon settled down again and a girl named Valarie started talking and introducing herself. She also was a first year and in Ravenclaw. Apparently everyone in here knew what The Keeper of the Lost Cities was, which was a little inconvenient for Beatrice. She felt out of place. Ava started talking next. She had started reading the books this year and Beatrice thought about how she had certainly seen Ava in the common room. She seemed nice. Ava pointed out that she brought her friend here, who started introducing herself next. Charlie was her name and she was also a Ravenclaw. There seemed to be a lot of Ravenclaw's here. Beatrice waited a little, but no one else started talking so she took it as her turn. She cleared her throat, looking up at everyone.

»Hello.« she said. »I'm Beatrice Dupont and a first year in Slytherin.« she smiled a little but felt really awkward. »I actually thought this was just a club to talk about books..?« Beatrice blushed in shame. Now she looked stupid. »Uhm, I can leave if you would like..?« Beatrice felt very unsure of herself, which wasn't like her at all. »Or you can just introduce me to the books? I'm sorry, I know this must look like I'm dumb. I do really enjoy reading books and I'd be happy to read this, uh, Keeper of the Lost Cities book.« Beatrice felt like disappearing into the ground but sadly she could not do that and it was rather unlikely for a bit whole to appear, that she could just fall into.

OOC Note: I have yet to read the books but unlike Beatrice, I actually already know what they are about etc. Not sure if I'm going to buy them any time soon tho because I don't really have any space for more books right now. Do I definitely need to read them for this club and does someone know if there is another way of reading them, like online or something like that? — Side note, I know that my Mum read some of them to me when I was little but I don't really remember anything

Bailey nibbled on a cookie, and Kim followed her example, doing the same.
Kim said that he thought her treats were better, and bailey was about to argue when he said a very true statement - everyone probably thought similarly about their own creations. This thought cleared her mind enough to make the blush from Kim's complement fade.
Bailey did her introduction, and then Kim went next. it was only right that he would go next, even if he hadn't read the books. He was her VP and best friend after all.
Bellatrix entered then, and apologized for being late. Bailey smiled and said "no worries! We were just getting started with some introductions!"
Next up for introductions was Valery, a first year Ravenclaw. She had brought all of the books, which bailey thought was awesome!!! She was followed by Ava, and then Charlie, a snek and then another of bailey's fellow ravenclaws.
Another first year snek was the next to introducer herself, and this made bailey think - the only guy at the meeting was kim. the only guy on the member list was Kim. and he's only here cause i dragged him here! she thought. She made a mental note to fix this.
Bailey said to Beatrice "No worries!!! This is kinda just a book club, but for the first year or so of meetings we are gonna focus on the KOLTC series!! it's ok that you haven't read them yet, this first meeting is just to meet each other, see who's read the books, and give copies of the first book to those who need them! In the next meeting we will actually discuss the first book, but today was just an assment meeting of sorts!"

Ava listened to each introduced themselves, doing her best to not fall asleep. She wasn’t trying to be rude, but she had barely slept the night before and people talking about themselves was the surest way to get her to fall asleep. Despite her sleepiness, she tried to take note of something about each person.
Charlie talked about how she was a Ravenclaw and had read the series.
Beatrice talked about how she thought this was just a book club (lame).

(OOC NOTE: it would be assumed your character introduced themself even if you haven’t posted them doing so but plan to.)

By the last person, Ava’s eyelids were drooping and she could hardly remember what she had noted about each. In a last attempt to stay awake, she jumped up and shouted “I’m awake!”. Luckily for her, a yawn cut off most of her sentence and saved her from the librarians wrath.

Ava answered the question Valarie had asked with as much dignity as she could muster. “My favorite character is Keefe. He’s so funny!”.

Ava wasn’t trying to be rude, but they weren’t really talking about anything at the moment. Only boring discussion questions. She needed to spice things up. She closed her eyes and tried to conjure up good juicy questions. “I know!” She stood up. “Who in the series would you kiss, who would you marry, and who would you…crucio.” She came up with the last option thinking about for defense against the dark arts class.
