I just cannot help thinking that it is just weird to see two different characters with same fc...
I know it is quite common on this site, but it is just weird... :joy:
Yeah same. I prefer if people didn't have the same face claim because it doesn't make sense IC. Even in real life, there's a chance someone could look almost the same as you yes. But they wouldn't look EXACTLY the same. And even if they DID look the same, you would 100% remark on it and be like "Why do we look exactly alike? Are we related?" Because it doesn't make sense for you NOT to remark on that IC because in real life you wouldn't just ignore it, everyone who is your friend, family member or people you hang out with would make a remark on how much you two look alike. It would make sense if you are related to the person, maybe a twin or a twin you never knew about. But if you're not related at all and have the same face claim it really doesn't make sense IC for two or more people to have the same face claim imo. But that's just my opinion.
Most sites have a face claim list so that people can see who is taken and not use that face claim. It's to prevent confusion and adds realism. This is the first site I've seen where millions of people could have the same face claim and it's fine. It does take some getting used to if you're unlucky enough to have the same face claim as someone else but it is what it is! Thankfully, I think like 95% of all the characters on the site have different face claims and only 5% have the same. So it's not too much of an issue. I'd think it would be a huge issue though if it was reversed and 95% of the characters all had the same face claim. Like all the guys were using Damion White's Timothy face claim and all the girls were using Eun-ji's face claim (the girl from It's Okay to Not Be Okay kdrama).

I also feel relieved, but not lucky. I just spent an ungodly amount of time searching for pictures of people with different colored eyes.

Guys, people IRL look similar/identical all the time. There are many, many cases of irl 'doppelgangers' meeting who are completely unrelated. Yes, realistically if you met, there would be comments on it and a bit of confusion with friends and family. But Hogwarts is a fairly big school... chances are you just might not cross paths ever IC. (At my own high school, I feel like I see a new face every day, and of course there are so many people who I've literally never spoken a single word to.)
That's not me saying that you should tell people with the same FC to never interact with you or your friends, by the way. It's totally possible to make plots out of identical faceclaims if you really want to. Long lost twin, shared ancestor, secret cousin... you get the gist. It's also 100% ok if the other person does not want to make your characters related, and you should never pressure anyone to make a plot because of a shared FC or demand that they change their FC 'because it's unrealistic'. Plus, there's a lot more to a person than just their face that can distinguish you from someone else with the same FC - how do they dress? How do they wear their hair? Do they wear makeup? How do they carry themselves? How do they speak? What is their general 'vibe'? What's their demeanour, resting face, posture etc...

For example, when I was a first year, there were four active RPers with Mackenzie Foy as a faceclaim (there could be more, but from my memory it was me, Anastasia Beckett, Opeila Winters, and Logan Baird). Ana and I made a half sisters plot out of it and really played up the identical aspect of it, while Ivy interacted with Opeila once or twice but the same-face thing was never commented on between the two of us. People close to Ivy and Ana also occasionally commented on it, using varying degrees of 'OMG you're identical'. Some characters instantly noticed the similarity while it was a bit more vague with others. If I recall correctly, one person barely correlated Ivy and Ana with each other, because despite being friends and 'identical', their vibes were completely different.

Plus... gatekeeping faceclaims sucks. If everyone on hio did it, all the popular ones would be gone by now. But I digress. That's just my advice for anyone struggling with this topic.
