Prompt #13: Things That Make You Feel Something Just by Looking At/Thinking About Them

Hi everyone! Once again, I'm so sorry for such a long wait, and thank you for the continued interest in our little club! The reality is, I'm just not very active on the site anymore, so my prompt-posting rate is going to be erratic. But these are really fun and it seems like everyone gets a fair amount out of them so I'll try to remember to sneak on here every now and then to post a prompt. Thanks for the grace.

Ok. *claps hands together* So. Today's prompt is a relatively simple one, but hopefully you can run with it. I want you to think about something that, like the title says, makes you feel something just by looking at or thinking about it. The "something" is just literally any emotion that you feel is noteworthy/important to you. Love, disgust, irritation, contendtedness, anger, melancholy. Could be a childhood stuffie, a letter from a lost friend, clouds, a person, a lamp post, a random autumn leaf---anything. Then write a poem/prose/short story/whatever you want about it. I know that's not a lot of guidelines so I'll also say one idea is to include a description of the emotion it brings up and/or the thing itself, using the senses. Or you could write the piece as a letter to that object/person/etc. Or maybe talk about how your life is different with/without that thing. Idk, just some potential jumping-off points.

As always, use as much or as little of the prompt as you wish, adhere to the site ratings, and have fun!

P.S. does anyone else think the guy on the right side of the leaky cauldron background looks like he's wearing a fish on the end of his hat? Its supposed to be part of a chair or one of those on-tap beer things I think but all I ever see is fish.

Dear Snowflakes in the late November,
Thank you for coming into my life. You know, it is unlikely to see you in winter where I leave, even in the coldest December and January, but this year you come in the late November, November 30th to be specific, so it is nearly December. You know, the temperature the day before was like nearly 20 degrees, and the day when you come, it was 0 degree to below 10 degree. It was like winter in one second. Yesterday I was wearing a jacket, and suddenly, I need to put my warm clothes on. I remember it was sunny that day until 2 pm in the afternoon, and it began to rain. Then, you come with the rain! When someone had said you would come earlier that day, I could not believe it, but you did come! What a surprise! What a delight! You know us kids like snowball fights, making a snowman, and the stunning silver scenery after you come! You can never imagine how much fun and happiness you brought to us when you did come that afternoon!

There is a saying in Chinese called 瑞雪兆丰年, meaning if you comes in winter, it will predict harvest in the next year. And guess what? When you come that afternoon, it did brought some good luck to me. The evening, I received a letter informing of a interview of one of the colleges I applied! When I told my teacher about that good news, she said your brought good luck to me! Oh, I wish you could come here more frequently to bring more happiness and luck! So, could you come next winter? Please do come next winter to bring us joy, surprise, and good luck! Hope to see you next winter! I just could not help smiling when I think of the exciting activities I can have when you come!

This is definitely an odd example, but i think it qualifies.
My grandmother's homemade vanilla extract. This definitely an odd choise, but i have lots of memories wrapped around this. One of my earliest memories of my grandmother, who lives in Poland with her husband, my grandfather, and me. we were in the kitchen, and she was teaching me and my mum how to make her vanilla extract. It is such a pure and happy memory, it just warms my heart just thinking about it.
another collection of memories is the fact that i gave some to my best friend @Kim Sato. As we both love to cook, a gift like this really means a lot. It just helped us bond i think. I do want to show him how to make it one day.. maybe if we open a bakery cafe together, we can serve things with it. I'll definitely have to show him before then...

Prompt #14: Characters

Hello W.O.R.D.ies!! I hope your lives are all going wonderfully and that you've been having fun on the site. After a...*calculations*...more than year-long absence (!!) I'm finally back with your next prompt! ~Ta-da~

Today I want you to think of a character in a book/show/movie/comic/even song that you

have strong feelings about or whose personality/arc you are inspired by in some way. Maybe they're your favorite character, maybe you despise them. Maybe you hadn't thought about them much before but reading this reminded you of their complicated subplot with their long-lost sister or painfully unrequited love for their best friend and you just got an idea. Either way, write a poem, story, or whatever combination of letters strikes your fancy about some aspect of your chosen character, be it directly from their perspective or just loosely inspired by their vibe. You could find the similarities between them and you and then write something about yourself if you want a more personal angle. Maybe you start by quoting their most memorable line. Or you ask them for advice, or blur their world with yours in some way. If you want to, you could even make up your own, brand-new character. Go nuts! Of course you don't have to say which character/story you picked, but if you'd like to, that would be a cool thing to mention along with your piece.

Here's mine! It's kinda silly and in the perspective of Pearl from Steven Universe bc I love her character.

But then she picked him, loved him, became for him. Disappeared and left me

I became half of something that day,

I could see her smile still, but not her face.
That Rose-colored world was gone and I was alone in a hollowed-out temple, at the altar I'd built to her out of my life.
And it's over, isn't it? So why can't I move on?
