Location: Non-religious side of Hufflepuff table
In the Ravenclaw Common Room, there was talk about an event happening in the morning. Bloom figured it would be a great idea to see what the event was about. She was realizing, the more the year progressed, that she only had a limited amount of time in Hogwarts than she once had. Why not join in on the festivities?

When she entered the Great Hall, the tables were extremely festive of different holidays. Tables were filled with crafts and food. It was definitely a sight to see. Bloom felt good for making her way to the event. She looked around to see that there were not many people around, but she was glad that she was a part of the small crowd. Luckily, it was after dinner. When Bloom saw the food, it turned her off from eating it. The last time she ate event food, it had messed with her and Howard to the point of vomit. She did not think that these treats had tricks, but it was definitely a trauma for the time being.

Where to start? she thought, looking at each of the tables. Perhaps she would go to a table that speaks to her the most. Her family were not that religious, but they were traditional. They had a tree up in their home but wouldn't give presents on December 25th. Instead, they did an advent calendar-type of giving. In addition, they spent the time giving to others by volunteering in the kitchens. It was a tradition of her mother and her family, who are muggles. Perhaps that's what made Bloom's parents get along religiously. Her father was not religious at all, either. There wasn't a need to figure out how to raise their children.

Bloom slowly walked past the Hufflepuff table. From the looks of it, it was the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Bloom did not know many people who were Jewish, but always found their holiday to be bright because of their candle lighting. Even those who celebrate Kwanza. It was very similar, but also different in their meaning. Bloom moved on from the two tables, not resinating with them as much. Perhaps she would try them out later.

She looked at the Gryffindor table. It was dedicated to Christmas. It reminded her of her tree at home with her family. Bloom missed being with them, but then again, she didn't. She was the middle child. Well... until a few years ago when they adopted a baby, Adam, from a close friend who needed help caring for their child. Bloom's older and younger sister often had attention from their parents growing up, however. Now, it was Adam who was getting all the attention instead. Being at Hogwarts, she had all the attention in the world from a certain Damphir.

Looking for another moment at the Christmas table, Bloom decided to move to the other side of the Great Hall where she saw the other half of the Hufflepuff table dedicated to those who were non-religious. Bloom smiled and read the little card that described what cultural Christmas looked like. To not celebrate the holiday, but have a tree. This was her table that spoke the most to her.

Bloom sat down at the table and looked at what crafts she could be working on. She could either be making a snowflake-- which seemed fun and a wonderful classic, she could create a fun little snowman, or even a wintry garland with dried fruit. She decided to go with making a cute little snowman using the different variety of crafts provided.

Grabbing the different sizes of puff balls, Bloom started to determine the small, medium and large. With glue, she placed them with the large one on the bottom, the medium next and ended with the small. When the puff balls seemed stable, she started to grab the tiny scarf, mittens and hat. She looked at the different parts and wondered what else she could do with it. She then realized what she wanted to do. What if the snowman was a Damphir? It would be a cute gift for Howard.

Bloom grabbed red and white felt and cut out small red eyes. She placed them on the snowman, then grabbed a yellow scarf and wrapped it around the snowman's neck. It was to represent Hufflepuff. Bloom took the already cut red felt and cut a small heart. She glued it to the middle part of the snowman. It represented how he was filled with so much love for her and those around him. She then grabbed one of the already-made hats that was yellow and with a brown marker, made lines, looking like a bee hat, but it had also represented Hufflepuff. Last part was adding the stick-like arms.

When she was done, Bloom looked at her creation. It looked like a little snowman Damphir. Bloom, for a second, daydreamed giving it to Howard and how much he loved it. A small smile was painted on her face just thinking of that moment.

Instead of leaving right away, Bloom stayed at her table, wondering if anyone was going to join her. In the past, she was often not as social, but slowly-- by being with Howard and feeling supported-- she had a small knack of wanting to socialize with others.

It was already Dec 10th, only two weeks before Christmas holiday. As Rita expected, there has been a lot of Christmas decorations around Hogwarts such as the Christmas tree, green mistletoes decorations with red bows, golden jingle bells, candles, ginger heads and other Christmas-themed and Christmas-colored crafts. Besides that, there were of course, many errands for students to participate in during the Christmas season. Rita had already participated in the True Meaning of Christmas errand in which she wrote a letter to her muggle parents in London talking about longing to coming home for Christmas and expressing what Christmas mean to her and submitted to nurse Frogge in the Hospital Wing. She was not that interested in bird divination although she enjoyed learning about nature and animals, and she found it hard to think of an invention that can improve the school, so she decided to skip these two errands, and only do the errands she was interested in. Anyway, she knew there was an errand in the Great Hall after dinner today that involves students making crafts about Christmas and different religions, and there would also be a variety of snacks for students to taste, she knew that was an errand for her, since even though she was actually an atheist, there were snacks and Christmas-themed crafts that were enough to draw her into this errand. Anyway, on the evening of Dec 10th, after having dinner, Rita decided to leave the Hufflepuff common room and go into the beautifully decorated great hall and try her hand on making some beautiful Christmas-themed crafts as well as enjoying some tasty snacks.

So, Rita left the comfy Hufflepuff common room, and went done stairs to the Great Hall. She found out the four tables had been beautifully decorated, with materials needed to make the crafts, such as scissors, colored paper, paint, glue, etc. There were also a variety of snacks on a half of the Gryffindor table, cookies, gingerbread, cakes, hot chocolate, tea, and many more. There were also some carefully decorated posters hanging on the wall to decorate the room. No to mention the students who came to the Great Hall before Rita who were walking around the tables and working hard on their crafting work. "Professor Horne and Prefect Maggie definitely had put a lot of effort into decorating the Great Hall for this errand. Thanks for their effort. those professors and prefects had put a lot of effort and sacrifice their spare time to organize the variety of activities for other Hogwarts students. They deserve our applause and respect." Rita thought as she walked around the Great Hall to see what was going on at each table.

Rita was mentioned before to have no religion, so she chose to sit on the non-religious Christmas table and do the crafts there. She decided to grab a cup of hot chocolate as well as some cookies and cakes first. "I must be having too much sugar these days, so I should not take too much sugary snacks." Rita thought as she took some Christmas-themed snacks and a cup of hot chocolate to drink for the cold winter season, then walked to the non-religious Christmas table, formerly a half of the Hufflepuff table.

On the non-religious Christmas table, there were the event of making snowflakes and puffball snowman. There were also strings to make winter garland with the snowflakes and dry fruits. Anyway, the instruction was pretty straight forward: fold the colored paper in four, draw the shape of the snowflake, and the cut and open it, that should not be very difficult. Rita remembered she used to do that craft when she was a child. Rita quickly followed the stages, and in a matter of minutes, she found she had already created a few snowflakes. The snowflakes she created at first did not look very satisfying to her, but through practicing, she quickly found out that the snowflakes created by her looked better. After she got a hand of snowflakes she was satisfied with, she took the string and the dried apples to make a winter flower crown. She put the flower crown on her head and was ready to move on with the puffball snowman.

She first took some glue from the Ravenclaw table, then began to take some white puffballs and glued in the small white puffballs on the big ones to create the face and the body of the snowman. Then she put the black puffballs on the small white puffball who serve as the face for the snowball. She also put on some other decorations, such as tiny scarves and hats. After a short while, Rita ended up with an adorable looking little snowman. She had worked very hard on the simple but pretty crafts, so she thought it was time to relax by eating some cookies and cakes and drinking some pumpkin juice. After a short while, Rita decided to leave the great hall, so she headed back to the Hufflepuff common room with the crafts she made, feel proud for what she had created, and looking forward to the next errand somewhere in the future.

Cute!

One word that Damion could think of as he walked into the Great Hall on the day when there were no classes. Great! Dinner had been just done and now Damion could fill his tummy with sugar. Well desserts. Damion was curious to see what was going on here. He was not sure if he would be doing something yet. But he still wanted to check out things.

The Great Hall was a big big room and it was not the first time that Damion had been there. He had been here for one or two errands. He was not new to this part of the castle. He had been here for his sorting ceremony too. He was very eager to see what new things were going on here. Whether he would take part in them or not was something he was not worrying about at the moment. He wanted to see what the whole thing was about. What the whole celebration was about?

Walking slowly and examining every single table there to make sure what he was going to do, and planning everything out in his mind as he was looking at them. He could take stuff from the Hufflepuff table and create a snowflake out of paper or make a puffball snowman.... Something that would make him feel the Celebration Spirit.

It would be something easy for him as he had done origami- paper folding. He had done a various amount of things in his four years here. He may have made some enemies but well that was life. He had his first kiss finally in the month of October. Well he wouldn't forget that anytime soon. He shook his head as he wanted the thoughts of Kim to not cloud his judgement right now. Not that he mind having thoughts about Kim in his mind. He had not been subtle about it. But oh well! Kim was his first guy crush. He had/has a crush on Serena but well he doesn't see it going anywhere. Not that he was planning his future with Kim.

Sighing as he glanced at the table where he was. He had made his way from the Hufflepuff table to the Gryffindor table. He was not sure why he was there but seeing the goodies there it struck to him what he was doing there. He took a plate and started putting the sugary goodies that he wanted to eat. Oh boy! Mistletoe! He shook his head as a memory caught him by surprise. Well it was no surprise anymore that he would think about Kim. Well the memory was relating to Kim. A smile crept on Damion's face as he thought of the memory that made him feel butterflies inside his tummy. Yes! He was a love struck boy. A boy who was falling really hard and really fast into something. Well in his defense he had waited for about two years for that.

He shook his mind as if trying to get rid of thoughts of Kim so he could focus on what he was doing. He took a cookie and ate it slowly, enjoying the taste of it. He was really happy that he had made his way to the Great Hall for this errand. He would have not mind being alone. He had spent some time alone in his life. Well... that was the harsh reality. He was not sure what he was going to do, but first he needed to finish eating. He took one of the Raspberry Linzer and ate it. He was being careful not to drop any crumbs on the ground. Well he knew wouldn't have to clean it but why put an elf through something like that.

Making a sound of pleasure as the dessert was finished. He took yet another sugary treat, mini tarts, and started eating it. Well.... He drank some pumpkin juice. Once he was done eating, he made his way back to the Hufflepuff table. Now to collect things that he might need. He picked some colored paper, scissors, some puffballs, some smaller black puffballs for eyes, tiny scarves, mittens, sticks, hats. He was thinking of doing both. Making a snowflake and making a Snowman.

Do you wanna build a snowman? It doesn't have to be a snowman...

Damion picked up the paper first, he wanted to get the Snowflakes done first. He was not sure of how this was going to end up, but he was sure that he would do well since he had done origami earlier and had ended up making a good thing.

Done! One thing down! Now to focus on Elliot his puffball snowman. He took some puffballs and started assembling it. He was sure that once he was done, Elliot (his snow man) would look good. He had even put a tiny Scarf around his neck.

Colin sat quietly for a while, just letting the pungent scent of pine boughs surround him. He nibbled on a few of the long thin needles and found them deliciously tart! He reckoned it would make a refreshing tonic, and would have to think more on that later. He knew what he was going to make now, and began piling up two heaps of pine boughs. Got some ivy vines and some holly sprigs.

"OW! That hurt! Bloody stupid holly leaves!" he cried as got them together. And the more Colin thought about it, the more he just couldn't put off thinking about how good a pine tonic would taste! So up he got and padded back over towards the treats table. By now there were some useful things just waiting to be nabbed! He found a couple empty bowls and a spoon with which he scooped up sugar and blobs of sugar icing that had fallen from biscuits and cupcakes. Then a pair of empty water bottles and a large tumbler full of water. Colin nodded in satisfaction. "That ought to do!" he said as he brought this secondary project back to his place at the table.

He used the back of his wand as a makeshift pestle and ground up the bits of sugar that about half filled one bowl, and then into the other bowl, he coarsely tore a couple handfuls of pine needles. The aroma of the woods surrounded him and he felt very happy. More so because of who he was making these things for! He mashed up the pine needles in the other bowl and poured some water in each bowl.

Colin had long wondered if he'd ever have reason to do this, but he thought it was a brilliant idea! He remembered back his first charms lessons. Wand lighting. He remembered that lesson in particular because of two very interesting tidbits Professor Fresnel had taught them. One was that it was possible to cast lumos, at the very least, without holding one's wand. He'd been practicing that, but that wasn't what he was going to try now --- Professor Fresnel also taught them that one could cause the end their wand to overheat and catch fire if one didn't concentrate properly! This had led Colin to consider if a properly cast improper casting of lumos would overheat the wand just enough to make a cup of tea!

And now he was going to do again what the professor had shown them last year. Colin smiled and held up his wand. "LUMOS!" he almost shouted. He put just too much effort into the casting, and sure enough! The usual soft white glow of his lumos casting, so helpful as he traversed the subterranean and hidden passage ways of Hogwarts, began to intensify and deepen. At the centre of the white light there grew a heart of red, pale at first, and then deepening! He held his right hand up towards his wand tip, and felt the heat of it. Carefully, he waited until the temperature was just right and then ---

PSSSSHHHH!!! PSSSSHHHH!!!

"Nox!" Colin said, flicking his wand happily. The boy smiled. Two bowls of merrily steaming water stood in front of him! The simple sirup, sugar and water in equal measures, he had made only warm enough to dissolve the sugar. That he stirred with his spoon and tasted it. "Not bad, for a lad who was banished from the kitchens at five for burning water!" The bowl with the pine needles he had made hotter so the needles would steep better. He sniffed. Nice. He set the bowls aside and began his other project.

This was going to be a very special Christmas present for a very special girl! So Colin carefully selected the nicest pine boughs, sniffing them delicately to ensure they smelled nice! He formed a large hoop and tied it with string. Then he began weaving smaller boughs around the hoop, tying them in as needed. "I hope you'll like this, Clair," he whispered as he worked. "I made it with love! And I hope you have a happy Christmas!"

When the pine boughs were all in place, he chose some long vines of ivy, pinched off any dead leaves, and carefully wove those into the pine. Finally, he narrowed his eyes at the truculent sprigs of holly. He picked two nice ones with berries and tied those in to the pine boughs as well! Colin smiled, then a thought came to him. He went back up to the treats table and fetched some popped corn and some dried fruits. He also found an empty pitcher, which he brought back to the table.

He made wee strings of popped corn and tied those, along with the dried fruits, all over the wreathes! How festive he thought! He was certain Clair would like it! He then wrote a note for her and tucked that inside the middle of the wreath.

At last it was time to work some more magic! He cleared a space and got the pitcher, the warm bowls and the water bottles ready. Colin stirred up the simple sirup and poured that into the pitcher. But the bowl with the pine water presented a certain difficulty. Namely, it had bits of pine needle in it. It was unlikely that the school Elves would just leave a large tea strainer lying about the great hall, but Colin did need some kind of filter.

And then it struck him! "Lad!" he said; "this is exactly why they make shirt tails! For moments such as these!" And with that, he unbuttoned his black and plaid shirt, held the bottom eight inches or so of the cloth over the mouth of the pitcher and with his left hand poured the contents of the pine water bowl into the pitcher.

"Ow! Ow!" he said as he squeezed the water and remaining pine juice through his makeshift strainer, then dumped the needles back into their bowl. He got his shirt buttoned back up and carefully poured the contents of the pitcher into the two water bottles. Colin smiled as he held up the two glass bottles of slightly green water! "Nice!" There was a little bit left in the bottom, and that he drank straight from the pitcher as a test. "Hm! Tangy. Sweet. Tarty. Twingy! Wicked!"

Colin decided to make labels for the bottles. C&C Pine Tonic. Colin smiled. His heart leapt inside his breast. He hoped Clair would like this too, for her train ride back to London for holiday!

With everything done, Colin wrapped up his presents, tied them with string and cleaned up his workspace. "OWOOOOOOOOOO!!!" he howled as he skipped out of the great hall and headed back down towards his dorm, his pine scented shirt tails flapping merrily as he went!

It was 7PM.

Kim had already eaten dinner and had forgone dessert this time. He wasn't really feeling much like eating.

He'd been debating about going outside for a brief walk with Puffie but had hesitated about doing so. Mostly because every time he considered doing this, Bailey always happened to show up at the Gryffindor painting to ask for him. Kim didn't feel like going out and doing anything with anyone right now. He hadn't felt like being around anyone for quite some time now. The teen didn't even remember how long it had been since he'd last seen someone from his first year friend group. Well, other than at clubs. Even then it wasn't that much. Sophia. Sage. Colin. Precious. Pax.

Bailey didn't count because she was always around him all the time. It was something he'd come to depend upon. No. What was he thinking? It wasn't like that at all. But if it wasn't like that, what was it like? Kim reached up to grasp at his green colored hair and tried to yank the strands out from his scalp. For the past few days his insomnia had come back with a vengeance. Still, he'd been able to sleep last night, probably because his body had been telling him to get some sleep or die. Kim stifled a yawn and gave Puffie a little pygmy treat, which the puff ate a bit quickly.

Someone came over to him.

Kim looked up at the person, who told him his girlfriend was there for him and the teen let out a little sigh.

"I don't have a girlfriend." He said for what seemed like the thousandth time. But at least he knew who the boy was talking about and Kim got up to make his way over to the entrance. He opened the door to see a familiar face outside. Of course it was her. This time, he was dressed in a different outfit. A white T, a long-sleeved pastel green nature designed shirt, blue jeans and a multi-colored fur jacket. Puffie sitting on top of his shoulder made a splash of pink there too. He wasn't surprised as Bailey leaned in, hugged him and then latched onto his hand to pull him out.

"Where are we going now?" Kim asked as he was dragged along, although his question was answered rather quickly upon reaching their destination. The Great Hall. There were a lot of people there which made him wince. More than you'd normally expect there to be. That in turn meant it wasn't just people there to eat, an event must be going on. Yet another one. Sure, Kim was glad he had a chance to win some house points from some of them. But he also didn't really feel like going. On the other hand, once he was there, it wasn't like he could just sit around there.

Bailey must have known this.

The girl let go of his hand as soon as they entered the Great Hall together and Kim glanced around the area.

It was probably a festive, winter or Christmas themed type of event, at least that was what it looked like to him. Kim let his eyes flicker around the Great Hall and nodded when Bailey said she'd be going over to the Religious Christmas table. She also said that they'd meet up again later and headed off on her own. Kim couldn't help but think about Sophia. She would have loved this event and would have gone off to the Religious Christmas table too. But she would have definitely tried out everything. A faint smile could be seen on his lips as he thought of his sister.

Or rather the girl who he'd considered to be his sister, not that he'd ever admitted that to anyone. He'd go and do something at each of the tables then in her place. Kim avoided the snack tables for once, it reminded him too much of Sophia right now. If he was going to go to each of the tables, he'd have to focus on doing those things first and then after he was done, he'd sample some of the snacks. First off, Kim headed over to the Hufflepuff table. It was where the non-religious cultural Christmas and no celebration activities were being offered to students at the castle.

Technically this was him.

He wasn't entirely sure which one applied to him more but this was the table where he belonged right now.

Crafts were something Kim had always enjoyed, even at a young age. So this event was right up his alley. But getting himself into the festive mood was harder to do than usual. Before coming to Hogwarts, it had been easy and during his first year at Hogwarts it had been even easier. This year was the first time it was hard for him to focus on crafts and activities. Kim shook his head a little, trying to regain his focus. At least for a short amount of time. He picked up some colored paper, white and blue. Picking up a pair of scissors he started to cut the paper in a certain manner.

After spending some time at the table, Kim managed to create a beautiful white snowflake with blue edges. He continued to make snowflakes and eventually managed to create a lovely garland with a few dried fruits here and there. Finished with his creation, Kim draped it over his arm and then moved to the other section. The place students could create their own puffball snowman. Puffie got excited looking at them and Kim had to make sure the pink puffball didn't jump off his shoulder. The teen didn't want him getting mistaken to be pink puffball materials.

Kim gathered the materials together.

Once he had everything, he set them out in front of him and got to work in order to construct a puffball snowman.

First the base. A large white puffball. Then, a slightly smaller size puffball on top of that. Eventually, Kim had the entire thing constructed together and it started to look like an actual snowman made of puffballs. Now the details had to be added. Kim picked up some tiny black puffballs and started to place them on small white puffball head of his snowman. They were perfect for the mouth. Kim chose googly eyes for the eyes and added a tiny little piece of stick for its nose. Picking up a tiny blue and gold colored scarf, the green haired teen wrapped it up around the neck.

Last was the hat to finish his creation. Kim chose a warm woolen winter hat for the puffball snowman. Puffie squeaked his approval and the boy nodded as he looked at it. It wasn't bad at all. Glancing around, Kim decided not to go towards the tables that were decidedly religious. At least not yet. For now he'd head to one more and then check and see if Bailey was done. The last table that got his attention was the Yule one. Mostly because the wizarding community celebrated it all the time. There were two activities to do there. Both of these activities were interesting.

Kim started out by making a wreath.

This one he happened to make two. One for him and one for Bailey, who had come with him to this errand.

Putting together the pine branches and using twine to secure it in place was probably the hardest part. Once that was done, it was relatively easy to add the other things to the wreath. Kim chose a bunch of dried cranberries and a few pieces of oranges and lemon intertwined here and there. All in all the wreaths he made were actually quite pretty and he was satisfied with how they ended up turning out. The pinecones he'd strategically placed in certain areas also made it stand out. Finishing his creation, Kim moved over to the place where the Yule Log cakes were located.

He'd specifically chosen to do these last, so the pine, leaves and other things wouldn't get onto the cake. Placing the items he'd already made into his enchanted satchel, Kim placed it beside him on the bench and got to work on the Yule Log cakes. This was his forte. He'd chosen to take on two different Yule Log cakes. One chocolate and one vanilla. Taking a look at the tools offered to the students, Kim selected a few things and then got to work. This was what consumed most of his time here, as the green haired boy poured his focus into doing the very best possible job.

The chocolate one took him less time than the vanilla one. For the former, all he had to do was ice the cake and make the lines in the icing to resemble a log's pattern. And then add the candied dried fruit and holly. The vanilla one, although he didn't add icing to the cake, he did pipe beautiful flowers and pinecones made out of icing onto the cake itself. The flowers he piped were of two different colors, red and white. The pinecones were a lovely shade of dark brown. All in all, it provided quite a pretty picture. There was only one downside in Kim's opinion about these cakes.

They were way too sweet. They needed some kind of acidic kick to them. Something to take away the sweetness. But it wasn't the topping that needed to be changed, it was the filling itself. However, as the cakes were already provided for them and they just had to decorate, there wasn't much to do. Still, taking pictures of it and having other people enjoy them was good enough for him. Finishing up, Kim chose a log platter for the chocolate one and a cutting-board type of platter for the vanilla one. It was a great look for both and Kim wondered which Bailey would choose.

Now to find Bailey.

Picking up his satchel again, he slung the strap over his shoulder and picked up the two platters, taking his leave.

Marius Jinhao Brown was excited when he first heard about this errand. Like, super excited. The holiday season always had a way to put him into a merry, cheery mood that made him wanted to hum. And then there was this errand; whereas he was not a diehard fan of the errands and events at Hogwarts, they were always good opportunities to meet new people and learn something new - not theories from a book, but rather, something more related to real life. So, combine the festival season and an errand, and one would get the perfect formula to blow the excitement out of Marius Brown.

The first thing the Hufflepuff did when entering the Great Hall was to observe the tables, mentally taking notes of everything the organisers had prepared for this activity. He did not fail to notice that they had put on some posters explaining different holidays and traditions related to each of them, in front of each were materials that could be used to create crafts suggested for the specific celebration. There was an area designated for Christmas (both religious and non, even though to be honest Marius thought the non-religious celebration should have been given a new and different name), Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, and one for free activity.

It was not long before Marius made the decision to sit on the last desk. When he had decided to come to this event, his primary intention was to learn about a holiday he did not personally celebrate and share what he did; thus, the Chinese-English preteen was sure that if he was to sit in the "neutral" area, the chance to interact with people from multiple different backgrounds were much bigger compared to if he occupied a seat in one of the designated spots.

But it would not be appropriate for him to wait and do nothing, he was supposed to create something Christmas-y (or something related to another holiday, it just happened that the one he celebrated was religious Christmas). He looked at the table dedicated for said festival. The Hufflepuff was not wonderful with his hands when it came to fine motoric skill, so making a handcraft from the starch was definitely not his strong suit. Nor was it something he enjoyed doing.

He enjoyed painting once in a while, though. Not making a picture, but colouring one with his water colours. It would not be a surprise for anyone who knew him, then, to see the boy "steal" a couple of painting supplies and the clay Nativity scene and taking them to the "free activity" table, waiting for somebody else to come and chat with him.

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

Today was a special day at Hogwarts! Besides it getting closer and closer to Christmas, Professor Horne had a wonderful idea of having a Christmas celebration thingy at the Great Hall! With treats, crafts and wonderful information about the history of the Winter greetings, students began to crowd the halls with laughter, joy, and munching!

This Christmas tale begins with Jannette Applebottom of course, entering the Great Hall with a wide grin that was showing her pearly two buck teeth. She knew that Professor Horne was hosting some sort of extravagant event but the girl wasn’t expecting this! The place had everything! And while there were so many things, the girl really only had her green eyes set on one thing, and as usual it was the treat stands at the Gryffindor Table. With her target locked on, The Niffler would begin to sprint walk to the red table, her eyes filled with wonder like she was back at Honeydukes for the first time! Her oversized robes would slither on the floor behind her. She couldn’t believe it, sugar cookies, pizzelles, and are those gingerbread men?! With her paws coming out, Jannette would grab as many of the treats as she could, as she’d make loud munching, and yummy sounds. If heaven was a place in Hogwarts it would probably have been the Gryffindor sweets table!

Coming from the Gryffindor table with a handful of sweets in her mouth, sugar cookies in both hands, and robe pockets stuffed with delicious treats. If Professor Horne was thinking Jannette wasn’t gonna be here?! The Professor had another thing coming. Of course, Jannette had a lot of things she had to do today, besides the boring stuff like Homework, and Studying for exams which were gonna be coming in the next two weeks. Jannette had to do something so important that it couldn’t wait any longer! And this important thing was her letter to Santa Claus!

Over the past 6 years of living, Jannette has always naively believed in Santa! She loved that a Jolly Man, who was probably a kind wizard, was allowing elves to make toys for the boys and girls of the wizarding world! I mean it was crazy that the ministry allowed for all this, but Jannette didn’t mind! Even her older siblings believed in Santa! (Well, in reality they didn’t but rather acted like they did at the behest of Jannette’s mom…) Though with Christmas coming around the corner, Jannette needed to make sure to owl her letter to Santa Claus early to make sure the Jolly man was fully prepared for Jannette’s long list of presents she’s going to want for Christmas!

So after finally stocked up on goodies, Jannette headed over to the craft station in the Ravenclaw section of the table. Well, she was but that was until she got distracted by the dreidel station at Hufflepuff. “WOoooOOoooaaahhh…” She says with amazement, it was the first time in her life that she seen those muggle spinny things before and it looked so cool! “Dreuhh… dill.” She said, butchering the name of the childrens toy as she sat down at the table. While some students were painting them, Jannette on the other hand, took two Dreidels and sat down by herself all the way at the end of the table. While alone, the brunette would look at the other students who were playing the game properly! Which was booOOooorring. Who wanted to wait for the dreidel to stop and show a squiggly letter when you could spin the dreidels and have them clash against each other like Beyblades! Soooo, that’s what she did! Spinning one, Jannette would quickly get her other dreidel and spin it close to that one. As the two dreidels would begin spinning, the two would connect as the sound of wood coming in contact with one another echoed. Jannette would begin to cheer, hoping the dreidel on the right would win! “Comeeee Ooooon Applegal!” She cooed, her face getting closer to the dreidels, seeming focused on the outcome of which one would stop spinning. “Come ooonn - Commeee onnn,” As the two two dreidels would begin to spin slower and slower, the right one stops first then soon after the left would follow suit. “AHhhhhhh!” She groans, before continuing the process until she gets bored.

After getting bored of her spinning fun, Jannette would grab her two dreidels and head over to the Ravenclaw table. She must’ve been spinning those dreidels for at least an hour, as the students who were at the crafting station were replaced with newer students. So, sitting down at the crafts station, Jannette would grab her a piece of paper, a quill, ink bottle, glitter, paintbrushes, paint, and an envelope.

Jannette would begin her crafts, by painting the envelope as red as possible, her fingers imprinting bits of the envelope, and stains on her hand. She’d then sprinkle some glitter on it, to make it nice and pretty! With that drying, Jannette would grab her paper and quill. She’d write, speaking the words out loud a little as she does, “Deeear Sahnta,” As she wrote, “I wan' a Pony -- nae oi wan’ a Unicorn… Candeh…”1 She’d continue write, looking to the ceiling as she tried to come up with more things for her list, “A new cus’om broom, phoenix quill, Oi wan’ a broom compass too.”2 Jannette nods in agreement, before whispering quietly “I t’ink dahs it"3 She'd stop for a moment, looking at her letter, before an idea pops in her head, she continue to whisper quietly. "P.S i’d warn you Santa, almos' -- wai' nae' no' almos'... all of dah Gryffindor studen’s er definitely on dah naugh’y lis’ ‘n deserve coal fer Christmas! The nicest student in Hogwarts, Jannette Applebottom!”4

All right, so... no one had come and said hello to him so far. To be honest, he was not very sure whether it was caused by his choice of seat or simply because the pupils around him preferred to either work alone or stick with people they had known before (anything but to converse with a stranger).

Perhaps it was the latter. Not that he blamed them, though. On the contrary, Marius could totally understand the reason for making said decision; it took some courage to open up to somebody one did not know, even if it was just to strike a small talk, much more than what it took to bear lonesomeness. The fear of the unknown, he recalled how Mum dubbed it. People are not afraid of the dark, but rather of what might be there, behind the darkness. "Especially when they are introverts, just like myself," the Hufflepuff thought, hands kept on working.

He had finished painting the statue of Baby Jesus, His swaddling clothes white. The clay statue of the Blessed Mother came next, and Marius decided to colour her attire white and blue; somehow, he had heard that the colour blue was associated with her but without knowing the exact reason. The third figure to be completed would be the statue of Saint Joseph, and the Chinese-English preteen almost had a slight accident with this one - not with the green robe he had painted so well, but rather with the statue's hair - Marius almost coloured it together with the skin, when he was painting the statue's face!

"Now for the angel," he said (in his brain though, so no one but himself would be able to hear it). "Coal black hair, eyes so dark they almost look jet black; just like Mum and Alberto. Should the gown be white or blue or rose? Perhaps the last one, the Virgin Mary statue had been painted with the first two. I can definitely colour the wings white, though."

But after the four statues, Marius halted. He was running out of idea regarding which colours to choose. Perhaps scarlet for one of the shepherds? But what about the others? And the Magi? Should all of them wore purple and gold, as they were kings? Definitely not, that would be boring. But if not, then which paints he had better use?

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

Nancy gawked a little as she entered the Great Hall. The hall was decked out in elaborate decorations. There were students from every house laughing, talking, eating, and creating different crafts at the tables. The smell of baked goods and spices was thick in the air. It smelled amzing. Her stomach growled a little as she looked around the hall for the source of the smells. She was drawn towards the Gryffindor table where a feast of snacks had been laid out. Cookies and treats were in heaping stacks and towers while pitchers of pumpkin juice were set out. There were pies and tarts set out on platters scattered on the Gryffindor table. Her mouth started watering as she walked up to the table. She picked up one of the plates and chose several treats (especially the mini tarts) and a glass of pumpkin juice.

She started nibbling a raspberry linzer as she wandered to the other end of the table where there were posters discussing one of the winter holidays. She read the posters discussing the story of Christ and looked at the nativity craft with interest. The story of a baby in a manager was familiar. Most of her friends back home celebrated the holiday. The decorative tree toppers looked interesting. She wasn't sure which one she wanted to make, so instead, she continued wandering.

She walked over to the Hufflepuff table and read about the non-religious form of Christmas while starting to nibble on a meat pie. It was interesting to read about how to celebrate the holiday without a religion connected to it. She was reminded again of some of her friends. They didn't go to chapel or any type of service, but every year they celebrated Christmas. She thought at the time that they must attend service elsewhere, but apparently, it was possible to celebrate with the services.

She continued reading as she walked down the table until she reached the Hanukkah section. She read about the Menorah and found a spot near the materials for the dreidels. Gently she placed her snacks to the side as she instructions on how to decorate a dreidel and then how to play. She smiled softly as she picked up one of the wooden dreidels and a small paintbrush. She remembered one of her friends in her village who celebrated Hanukkah and had let her play dreidel when they would visit. As she carefully painted the sides, taking care that the paint didn't drip or smear, she started softly humming the song her friend had taught her. After some time, she picked up a sugar cookie from her plate as she looked at her completed dreidel. She thought it looked very nice. She couldn't wait to show her friend when she went home.

Cleaning up her mess, she picked up her snacks and pumpkin juice, put her now dry dreidel into her pocket, and continued walking through the hall. On half of the Slytherin table was a celebration of Kwanzaa. She read the posters with interest and made a note to ask her parents what they knew about the holiday. She watched as some of the students were carefully creating their unity cups and others were thinking carefully about their seven pillars. The students working on their seven pillars were concentrating hard and writing out their pillars carefully. She would have to ask one of her dormmates about the pillars later that night.

At the other end of the Slytherin table she saw the posters for the holiday she was most familiar with. Yule. As she looked at the posters, she felt a little sad that she wasn't with her parents. She loved when they would light the Yule log. Mam would make cider and Yule log cakes. Her siblings and her would try to steal at least one of them without Mam knowing. They never succeeded, but every year they tried their best. Her Da teaching all three kids to carve the Cailleach totems. Helping her Mam decorate with the Mistletoe and creating the Holly wreaths and hanging them up. Days spent with laughter, cooking, and creating.

Blinking, Nancy came back to herself beside the Yule posters. She smiled and sat down next to the mini Yule log cakes borrowed some icing and started to decorate her log. She chose a few pieces of holly to decorate her log as close to her Mam's as she could. When she had finished it took all of her willpower to not immediately eat it. She set the decorated cake on her now empty snack plate for safety while she gathered the materials to make a wreath. As she started binding the pine branches together she took deep breaths, smelling the strong and calming scent of pine. She chose several pieces of dried orange and cranberry to decorate her wreath. As she finished, she glanced around to make sure no one was looking and smelled her wreath with a smile on her face. She may not be home, but she could, at least, create a bit of home to keep her company. Yawning, Nancy cleaned up her space and returned her supplies. She gathered up her Yule log cake and wreath, double-checked that she had her dreidel, and started heading out of the hall.

Hogwarts had been buzzing with errands lately before the holidays were over. There was a divinitation errand andanother Kayla couldn't remember at the moment. She had been trying her best to catch up with her last pieces of homework, that she snapped at anyone who interrupted her and was tired but still happy and jumpy nonetheless. She was still shaken from Squeaky running out of the common room the previous month that she refused to leave the ferret alone for a week. She was unprepared what layed in store for her when she went into the great hall after dinner.

Kayla had walked into the Great Hall completely confused by what she saw.
The gryffindor table was flooded with snakcs, a lot of other tables had crafting suppliesscattered across the surface. There was tons of students already cutting, pasting and chatting.

For a moment, Kayla wasn't sure what to do. She simply stood at the entrance, taking a minute to process what was going on. She didn't know whether to back out or to simply stay and figurr out what was happening. But Kayla being Kayla, she looked around to try and see where to sit.

After a bit of mingling, kayla came to a conclusion. It was another errand, in the form of arts and crafts. Kayla felt herself smiling a bit at this, because she loved art. Specifically painting, but anything else was good too. Kayla moved to the snack table -formally known as the Gryffindor table - and grabbed a mug of hot chocolate, taking a sip and wincing as she burnt her tongue.
'Right, hot chocolate. Its hot,' Kayla reminded herself and seated herself at the non-religious Christams table.

Kaylas family didn't belive in anything specific, which is what her father had told her at least. Or that was her fathers side, as Kayla had grown to never know her mother, she wasn't sure if anything was different on that side of the family. But since she didn't know any better, she stayed where she was.

There were two tasks- snowflake making and a puffball snowman.

The paper snowflakes were kind of traditional at her old school. Take a paper, fold it, cut some stuff and then you have a semi-decent paper snowflake. It was something that a lot of children just did without realising it. The craft also happened to be a convenient form of stress relief. If you ever get angry, cut some paper, it usually helped.

As Kayla finally located a pair of scissors, she took some blue paper and tapped the scissors against the paper, trying to decide whether to go exotic or not. Making a decision, Kayla foded her blue paper four times, then picking up the scissor, she began to cut on the edge of the paper, rounding the edges. She cut a few times before finishing, she opened the paper and was relieved to see the paper was still intact. It had also created a successful paper snowflake.
"I thimk I'll make a few more of these," Kayla remarked, setting down the first one.

And from there Kayla made three more snowflakes, all of them blue. They were probably going to end up at the back of her textbook, never to be seen again. That was Kayla, keeping things until the end of time. Specifically small pieces of paper. Typical Realma behaviour.

As she finished, Kayla reached for her mug of hot chocolate. Which was empty. Kayla hadn't even taken into consideration that she fisnihed it while spending five minutues on a single craft. Kayla stretched her long legs under the table and decided to grab something to snack on.

She moved from her spot and moved over to the snack table with her mug, thinking of refilling it. She scanned the snack table- the Gryffindor table- looking for something appealing. Not really hungry, Kayla just took a cupcake and refilled her mug. Kayla wasn't a fan of icing (on cakes or cupcakes), so the cupcake wasn't really a good choice. But Kayla sucked up her dislike for icing and made her way back to the table.
Kayla spent a few minutes munching on her cupcake and sipping her hot chocolate. Kaayla definitely underestimated the taste of the icing on this particular cupcake. She wondered whether the house elfs made this. Or perhaps it was the hosts of the errand that made them, either way, Kayla liked it. She toook a long sip out of her hot chocolate before wipping her hands and deciding to continue with the crafts.

She decided to go with the puffball snowman.

She searched the tables and succeeded in fetching three puffballs to make her snowman. Small, medium, large.

She suck the puffballs together and then stretched over to take the eyes. She glued the eyes on the top and frowned. One was higher than the other. She shrugged it off, she didn't feel like fixing it.

She then began to assemble the limbs of the snowman, she stuck the sticks on and wrapped a scarf around its neck. She put the mini mittens on its mini arms and leaned back. Which wasn't smart as she nearly fell. Kayla sighed and stood up with her snowman. She was done for the day. Or night.
