The night before Sunday, December the 11, Bailey sent out letters to all of the people who had signed up for her book club based on the muggle book series Keeper of the Lost Cities. Bailey had come up with the idea, and dragged Kim, though he hadn’t read the book yet, to be her vice President. Another thing that probably fed the rumors was that whatever club Bailey was President of Kim was her vice President, and Vice versa. This pair of best friends were some of the, if not THE most sociable and most well loved pair in the castle.
The letter read:
ReducioDear Members of the KOLTC club,
This is your President, Bailey Glade. This letter is to notify that we will be having our first meeting tomorrow on Sunday, December 11th in classroom B on the third floor at 3:00 PM.
Bring a copy of your favorite book if you have it, or the first book. We will be discussing the first book tomorrow!
I cannot wait to get together, and possibly meet some of you!

Sending the letters out and away, Bailey headed back to her common room from the owlery.

1 PM. Right after lunch, Bailey went to the kitchen. She made a few snacks, including homemade marshmallows, (inspired by malomelt), homemade pretzels, and lemonade.
After gathering the food, Bailey walked quickly to her dorm. It was 2:15. She changed into non food covered clothes, which included a white blouse, blue skirt, Ravenclaw sweater, some blue flats, and some of her regular jewelry which she had removed to cook.
Packing her wand, a few notebooks, one of which was of cake designs, her journal, muggle and magical writing utensils and the first several books of the KOLTC series, Bailey headed down to an empty classroom.
Setting the food down, Bailey sat in an empty chair to await the members that would soon file in.
The time was 2:47 in the afternoon.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It was a fact. That time kept going, despite how Kim felt as if it had stopped around him ever since the fall ball came to an end. He hadn't dealt with the aftermath. He didn't want to. He didn't want to even think about it and buried himself in his classes, homework, studies, clubs and other responsibilities. Just so he wouldn't have to think about it. He also hadn't been getting a lot of sleep lately, as his insomnia had popped up again. Before, it had only come once a month. Now it was happening on a more frequent basis. Maybe once every few weeks. Sometimes more. He wanted to keep his grades up though and felt a sense of duty and responsibility towards the clubs he was part of and owned. Kim was up early in the morning, or rather he was up because he hadn't ever gone to bed the previous night. It had been one of those days for him. The last time his insomnia had kept him up had been two weeks ago. Apparently, yesterday had been the next day it had decided to make its appearance. Or rather night that is. He'd gone off to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies, a relatively simple dessert. Right now, Kim didn't feel like doing anything too complicated and his head hurt a little. Perhaps it was due to lack of sleep, or stress that kept building up inside him. A yawn escaped his lips. He carried the platter of cookies with him, Puffie perched on top of his shoulder, and headed for the library. Most of the time, libraries didn't allow food to be taken into it, but this was a club meeting, so Kim assumed they would be given a pass. He hadn't read these Keeper of the Lost Cities books but Bailey had said it didn't matter if he hadn't read them, as long as he was interested in them. Once she'd told him what it was about, he'd instantly been hooked. It had sounded quite interesting and Kim had always been an avid reader. The last book he'd read had been The School for Good and Evil, something that Bailey had recommended during the last Bookworms Club meeting. Back in February. Puffie squeaked out a greeting to everyone as they entered the room, only to find that Bailey was the only one inside. Right. Kim was ten minutes early to the meeting, preferring to be early or late to avoid getting stuck around groups of people. Once more, Kim yawned, trying to keep his eyes open. Kim cleared his throat and headed over to a table to put his platter of chocolate chip cookies down next to the refreshments already placed there. "Brought some chocolate chip cookies." He told her and made his way over to Bailey's current location. Puffie squeaked at her from Kim's shoulder. Once they got close enough, Puffie hopped from Kim over to Bailey's shoulder and nuzzled her neck. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Valarie checked the clock in the Ravenclaw common room. She jumped up all of a sudden with a gasp. She was late. Five minutes and counting. This bothered Valarie. She was always on time. She quickly rushed out of the common room and to the meeting place: the library. She opened the door to the library expecting to find other people. Hopefully she hadn’t missed the meeting. Valarie gripped the bag she was holding even tighter. The worn bag was filled to the brim with books. She had barely managed to fit all nine of the Keeper of the Lost Cities books in the sky blue bag. The door made a soft creaking noise as she opened it. Valarie grimaced at the noise. As quietly as she could, she pulled the door shut behind her before turning to the wander around the practicality deserted library. She cleared her throat before softly calling,
“Hello?” She was beginning to loose hope when she heard voices and relief washed over her. She rushed toward the sounds as quickly as she could. Only two other people were there. At least she wasn’t the only person running late, she thought.
“Hello!” She said again. “Is this the Keeper of the Lost Cities meeting?”

────────────────────────────────Keeper of the lost cities club? Ava. She HAD to have dragged me in. Who else would have? Bailey didn’t know if I had read the books- which I hadn’t. Ava had given me a book, and it had been the keeper book, but it had gotten burried in my trunk under chocolate frog wrappers and slips of parchement with old to do lists on them. But I would attend the meeting, I would.

The day of the meeting I got back to the dorm, which was completely empty, and I climbed up on to my bed, and plopped down on my stomach, feet on my pillow, and slid down to my trunk, and popped it open, I pulled out a wad of parchement, and shoved it aside. This is a huge mess, I thought as I dug to the bottom and finally found the book. I pulled it out and set it behind me, and swished the pool of parchment around one more time before closing the trunk lid with a loud thunk and a poof of dust showing that it obviously showed I needed to clean it.
I jumped off the bed and grabbed the book, giving Zara one last pet as I rushed off to the library. As I walked in there was a group of students I saw gathered around a table.────────────────────────────────

Beatrice jumped up from one if the couches in the Slytherin common room and basically ran to her dorm room. She had fully forgotten about that club that she had signed up for and that the first meeting was today. To be honest, all she knew about the Club was that it was about books and that's all she needed to sign up for it. Her parents wanted her to sign up for something and this was the closest to her comfort zone. For some reason it was called "Keeper of the Lost Cities club" which sounded nice. Like a metaphor. Beatrice really hoped that this club consisted of a bunch of book readers that don't need her to talk a lot or say anything about herself. They would just talk about books, right?
After getting dressed, Beatrice hurried out of her Common Room and up a flight of stairs. The meeting was in classroom B on the third floor at 3:00 PM. That's what the letter said. She took a look at her watch and started running. It was 3:06 PM and Beatrice hated being late. Since she only had so little time to get ready, Beatrice was wearing a pretty casual outfit that she probably wouldn't have chosen if she had more time. It still looked good but it wasn't something she was taught to wear when being with other people and especially not for making first impressions. The white Converse on her feet made a quiet sound with everyone running step she took and the wide ish jeans almost made her fall while hurrying up the last flight of stairs.

Beatrice slowed down in the hall, pulling the sleeves of her blue shirt over her hands. She always had to fiddle with something when she was nervous and this time it was her sleeves. Before walking in, she took a deep breath and straightened up. Then she walked into the room, there were a few people standing or sitting down. A few girls and one boy.
»Hello. I'm Beatrice. This is the Club meeting for The Keeper of the Lost Cities Club, right?« she asked with a small smile.Word Count: 364

The girl Valarie Song spoke, asking if this was the Keeper of the Lost Cities meeting and Kim nodded to her. "I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to show up!" The green haired teen remarked and gestured towards the chairs placed around the table. "Please, take a seat anywhere you like. There are some chocolate chip cookies on the table if you want to take a bite." Kim added. Introductions would come later, once the rest of the members had gathered together. Another girl Ava Winchet popped up at the place, someone else the teen didn't recognize, asking the same question as before. "It is. Please, take a seat." Kim told her as Ava introduced herself to them. "Kim." He said, giving out his own name. Bailey would introduce both of them fully once the rest got there. Yet another first year appeared but this time Kim recognized her. Probably only because she happened to have a cat and he always made a mental note of who had potential dangers with them. Thankfully, Charlie didn't seem to have her cat with her this afternoon. Kim thanked his lucky stars for that small blessing. Cats were definitely a menace! At least that was what Kim thought of them. If Charlie had brought her cat, the library might end up kicking them out in the end. Because the noise and chaos that would follow if Kim stayed would not have gone over well for him. Or for the rest of the members. He looked over at Charlie, made eye contact and then gestured at the chairs around the table. After a few more minutes, another girl entered the room. Beatrice. Kim had seen her around before. As the girl asked for confirmation that this was the club's meeting place, he nodded again. "Please, take a seat and we'll get started as soon as the other members arrive." He told the girl with a nod. "But if it takes too long, Bailey will probably start regardless." Kim added. |

To no ones surprise, Kim was the first to arrive. He had brought some chocolate chip cookies, and Bailey smiled. She bit into one, and sighed with happiness. She swallowed and said "these are so much better than mine - you'll have to show me what you do to make them so good!!!"
Puffie had jumped from Kim's shoulder to Baileys, and he was nuzzling Bailey's neck. baileys smiled up at Kim, and didn't say anything. Bailey and Kim were in a place in their friendship where they really did not have to talk, they were comfortable enough around each other to just sit in silence.
Next to enter was a first year ravenclaw that Bailey assumed was Valery. "yes it is! We are just waiting for the rest of the members to show up, and then we will start our discussions!"
Ava, a first year slytherin was next to arrive. "welcome Ava! And yes this is the KOLTC club meeting!"
Charlie, a friend of Baileys who was also in ravenclaw, was next to show up. Bailey smiled and said "i didn't realize you were a KOLTC book fan too!"
Beatrice was next to walk up and introduce herself. Bailey knew the girl vaguely, from seeing her around the castle and such.
"hello bea! it's so nice to meet you! And welcome!!"
bailey waited a moment more, and then stood up.
"hello and welcome to the first meeting of the KOLTC club, or the Keeper Of The Lost Cities club! We are missing about three or four people, but i recon we can get started and if they are able to come, they can join us. Ok, for introductions, I will go first, kim after me as my co, and then if we can go around the table, that would be awesome! This is just so i make sure not to call you the wrong name!
My name is Bailey, Bailey Glade, third year Ravenclaw. this is my best friend and vice president, Kim! Kim, would you introduce yourself a little more please?"
Bailey finished speaking, and sat down. Bailey was careful not to drop Puffie from her shoulder, where he was still resting.

Kim followed suit and nibbled on the crunchy outside but soft inside. It was as always, delicious. But then, it was a chocolate chip cookie, how could they not taste good? He tended to bake cookies different ways all the time to experiment and see what people thought of them. After all, some people preferred crisp outside and soft inside, others preferred soft all the way or crispy all the way. Depending upon the texture of it, a person's impression could change about the item. Some didn't care one way or another but others did and Kim was always aiming to please. Kim raised a brow at Bailey's words and shook his head a bit at them. "I think yours taste better. But then, maybe everyone feels that way about their own creations." Kim said with a shrug of his shoulders. "But thank you." He added and stifled a yawn, not wanting to appear tired at the meeting in front of others. It wasn't that he was tired, he just couldn't help but yawn for some reason. As Bailey stood up, Puffie perched on top of her shoulder, she started to speak. Kim looked up at her, his blue eyes gazing straight at her from below. She did a good job taking control of things. She even had a good projecting voice. He liked that, it made it easier for people to hear and understand her words. Ah, she'd just said his name. Lost in thoughts of Bailey, Kim had almost forgotten he was present at the meeting too. He stood up from his seat and glanced around the table. A flutter of nervousness swept through him. "Yo! I'm known as Kim Aoki but you can call me Kim. I'm a second year duelist who belongs to Gryffindor. Despite being a Lion, I love books and have read quite a lot of them over the short time I've been alive. If you saw me in Ravenclaw robes, I'm sure you'd think I was one of them. Not just because of the color but because of my book knowledge. Books are everything, they can take you to faraway places and let you engage in fantasy worlds." He said. "Everyone should have a bit of Ravenclaw in them." Kim said with a twitch of his lips. "Unfortunately, I haven't read this particular series but Bailey got me interested in them and I intend on reading some whenever I have some free time. If you ever have any questions, feel free to come to me or Bailey. I'm sure one of us will have the answer for you!" The green haired teen told all the members and sat back down, hoping his introduction was enough. It had been, right? |

Bellatrix looked at the clock. 3:05 She was late for the meeting! The letter had said to be there by 3:00. It had seemed that just a minute ago it was 2: 50. She had been to busy searching the library for the latest KOTLC book ( number 10 ) but they didn't have it. She thought this was probably because it was a muggle book and they most likely had started without her. She rushed back to her bed and grabbed her lucky black swan pendant, her box of Chocolate Gnomes and started rushing through the corridors. These gnomes were just lumps of chocolate, so Bellatrix enchanted them to look like gnomes and made them move. ( They were based on Mr. Forkle's lawn gnomes. ) She passed another grandfather clock and slowed down, just a little bit: 3:06. Suddenly she felt a little tingle on her back. She called this her spider sense, after her third favourite book, Spider- man She checked the letter; the meeting was in the library, where she had been a minute ago! She slapped her forehead, this was typical Rosewood luck. She dashed back through the corridors, back to the library. She burst into the KOTLC meeting, panting and slightly sweating. "Hi! Sorry I'm late." she said.
