Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 12
When Samantha spotted Bubba among the other spectators, a little smile appeared on her face. He even believed in her now that it didn't look that good for them, he truly was amazing. With Bubba's encouraging smile in the back of her mind, she aimed her wand at Sylvie. While Cade created a smoke screen, the prefect cast an incendio duo at Sylvie. Samantha wasn't completely focused while aiming the spell, as she was too distracted by the thought of Bubba's pretty brown eyes, and missed her spell.
Her lack of attention to the duel also made her an easy target for Regina's spell. When Samantha finally noticed the spell, she was just a little too late to dodge it. As soon as the spell hit her, it felt like her legs didn't want to listen to her anymore. But when Cade's body hit the piste, the brunette didn't care about her own suffering anymore, she didn't even think about Bubba anymore, as all her focus was on her dueling partner.
Samantha watched defeatedly as her fellow eagle was carried away through the fog. "You're on your own, kid," the thought crossed her mind as she raised her wand again.

"Where are you looking, Samantha? Should you not be paying attention to how fast you're approaching defeat?" Regina spoke up with an eyebrow raised at the Ravenclaw girl's distracted momentum, seemingly searching for someone in the crowd of spectators. To emphasise her words, she unleashed a formidable Impediment Jinx - a fourth year spell, might she add - upon Samantha, proud to display her advanced skills of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Though her spell was almost evaded, Regina was pleased to watch it hit. That should keep the brunette less chances to dodge now.
"Excellent spellwork, partner," She turned to O'Neill with an approving nod as the older Gryffindor flawless attack upon Cade Darkbound, before raising an arm to cover her head when the boy went down with a powerful Fumos.
Drat. It would seem they were fighting on even grounds now.

ReducioOne down. Sylvie could hear the strike of her flipendo (and subsequent thud of someone hitting the floor). It seems he couldn't take anymore... Unfortunate! But not for her. "Thank you, Regina." Were really her first words throughout the whole duel, but she meant them truly.
Before Cade fell. he'd cast a blanket of fog over the stage... Bubbles AND fog? When would her inconveniences end?

With Cade down and gone, it was two lions versus one eagle. Thankfully Cade’s final moment was to cloud the field with a cloud of smoke that Samantha could see through. Despite not being hindered by the haze surrounding her, something else started to creep inside her. Samantha levied her wand at Sylvie; however, the moment she cast, her arm wavered. Was it because the smoke around Regina made the shadows around her seem more active? Was it Regina herself? We aren’t afraid of being alone in the darkness and in other places we can’t see. On the contrary, we are fearful of someone else being there. While Samantha could see through it better than others, the vision wasn't true sight.
Sylvie Unfortunately would be moved to inaction this round, though it would appear that maybe she had been focusing on attempting to dodge her opponent through the bubbles making her life uncomfortable. Regina was on an upswing. Smoke or no, she was not deterred, seemingly able to pinpoint Samantha’s exact location. The energy of Flipendo would slam hard into Samantha. At least her wounds from Sylvie were starting to slow down.

Regina refused to be one-upped when they were so close to victory. Even with the smoke flooding her senses, she straightened her stance and stood impossibly still, eyes squinting in hopes of catching the slightest hint of movements. With how eerily quiet she was being, the thick, drifting Fumos combined with the trick of the light above their heads created a dreadful play of shadows surrounding her - as though she was a monster lurking in the dark. Regina's vision caught the glow of the Fire-Making Spell zipping through the air, missing her partner entirely.

"FLIPENDO!" The Gryffindor shouted, aiming her wand directly at where she knew the Ravenclaw Prefect was standing. The sound of spell hitting body was exactly what she expected to hear.
"Are you certain you do not want to forfeit anytime soon, Samantha?" Regina taunted with a lilt in her tone. It was a strategy she liked to rely on, destablising an enemy by running her mouth."The odds look dreadfully awful for you."

From the corner of her eye, Samantha noticed something moving behind the fog cloud and an uneasy feeling crept up on her. Was the shadow moving in a weird way? Did the shadow spiders come back again? The fear she felt caused her to miss a perfectly fine incendio duo. The hard hit from Regina's flipendo made the brunette realize there hadn't been any shadow spiders and she was just acting crazy.
"I'll never forfeit!" Samantha yelled back at her friend on the other side of the stage. "The only way you will win is if I can't move anymore." Forfeiting was for losers and she wasn't a loser... Well, soon she would probably be.

Sylvie must've been concocting wicked and evil little plans in her wicked, evil little head, because she'd forgotten to raise her wand! Not that it mattered, the Samantha girl didn't hit anyway, seemingly spooked by imaginary wickedness in the dark. Well, no harm no foul.

Samantha & Sylvie would be moved to inaction this round, perhaps both deciding to dodge, not that it would be helpful for either of them if that had been their action. However, it wasn’t nearly as powerful as the duo; it still didn’t feel good. Thankfully her clothes seemed to be relatively intact with no lingering flame effects.

As if to emphasise her point, Regina's magic did not fail her as she released a powerful Incendio in the last standing Ravenclaw's direction. It wasn't as fearsome as her real signature Incendio Duo, of course, but it was the first warning of Samantha's eventual defeat. She was sadistic like that - she didn't want her prey to have the mercy of an easy fall. She wanted them to suffer slowly, to acknowledge the seconds passing by as they grew weaker with every attack.
It makes the victory much more satisfying that way. Regina cared not if people thought of her questionable morality.
Out in the crowd, she could hear @Colin McCoire supporting her enthusiastically, shouting how she should stop toying with her food. For the first time in this duel, Regina actually agreed with the thought.

This wasn't looking good, not at all. Samantha had no idea what happened but this was the second time during this duel that she froze. This time it wasn't Bubba's fault, that was for sure. Maybe she was still a little distracted by the idea of the shadow spiders being back. The only duellist who seemed to have done anything was Regina. When her spell hit Samantha, the prefect expected a flame to appear but was happily surprised that such a thing did not happen. Also, her stupid legs did not seem to be working anymore... How was she ever going to win this?
Even though it looked horrible for Ravenclaw, Bubba was still cheering for her.
