Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood
ReducioAida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood removes Thoma's blindfold
Effects: Thomas is no longer blindfolded
For a boy that was on fire, Jake thought Piérre was taking it rather well. He didn't get it. Duelers were really made of different stuff...he'd seen so many people get lit on fire. And every time they'd kept fighting with not even a tear in their eye. Thomas on the other hand, didn't seem to be taking the blindfold nearly as well. Jake noted that down for later. Somehow most duelists seemed to think blindfolding was worse than fire. He supposed it made a little bit of sense... Not being able to see while people were throwing spells at you sounded awful. Maybe it was better to get lit on fire that you saw coming, than being pelted by mysterious spells you couldn't see or dodge? No, Jake thought, there was no way that could be better, but maybe it was closer than he would have thought.
Still, Jake kept a close eye on the scene in case Piérre's condition worsened...Luckily the Ravenclaws weren't able to fight back and make it worse. Aida had lost her wand, and well, Thomas was unable to see. There wasn't much the Ravenclaws could do, as the Gryffindors raised their wands. Aida had a choice to make - her wand lay on the ground, and Thomas stood defenseless. Teamwork won the day...Aida went for Thomas's blindfold, pulling it off his head - but she was a moment too late. The first thing Thomas would see as light flooded his eyes would be two spells headed his way. Fire from Piérre (perhaps revenge from the Gryffindor) and wind from Evelynn. He tried to dodge, valiantly, but he was also just a moment too late. The two spells together would hit their target, the wind blowing only making the flames worse, beginning to spread on Thomas's robes. Jake's eyes widened and then he winced. Now TWO of them were on fire.
The flames on Piérre were fading now, but Thomas wasn't so lucky. He could see now, but would feel the heat from the flames, as the gusts of wind kept him rooted to the spot. Aida's wand still lay on the ground, and the Ravenclaws remained on the ropes.

"Ooooo, that's a nice wand. Can I have it? Expelliarmus!" Piérre taunted in tandem with his successful attack. In response to the green-eyed boy’s snark, Aida stuck out their tongue and put a hand on each hip with annoyance before having to turn to help Thomas with his blindfold.
“What are you even doing over there, letting yourself burn as if we needed to light up the room. It’s perfectly bright in here, thank you.”
Despite Thomas’s predictions being correct, he still failed to dodge the incoming attacks of their opponents and elicited a sympathetic groan from Aida. This wasn’t going as splendidly as the wix had planned. Really, Aida had wanted to wallop Piérre and his partner immediately. After all, the wix was still upset about him running off during the ball after Aida had gone out of the way to cry out his name three times, as directed.
“You know, Piérre, you still owe me that trick or treat, and I’m not going to forget about it until you finish what you started!”
Tossing Thomas’s blindfold to the side, Aida moved to pat the boy on the shoulder with encouragement.
“Come on, Thomas, let’s show this joker how funny his attempt at duelling is.”
Meanwhile, Aida’s owl, Scheherazade, was in the mood for fun rather than trouble. With a jump and a flutter, the little desert tawny owl floated down in an attempt to land on the cat’s head to make for a funny hat.

And so the boy could see! “Yeah- ow,” Tom grumbled as he felt the lick of flames and the all too familiar impact of wind knocking into his frame. Nevertheless, his complaints did not seem to be particularly... Spirited? He seemed almost confused himself, casting a disparaging glance towards the Gryffindors before commenting. “Felt as if someone sneezed in front of a lighter in my general direction... Seriously, is that all you've got?” Compared to getting the wind knocked out of him by some Flipendos, he couldn't help but be surprised by the lack of firepower the opposing team possessed. Then again, he grimly supposed, that wouldn't mean much when talking about his own constitution.

"To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy."~ Sun TzuAs the fires began to finally fade out on his clothes, Piérre bit his lip as a single thin tear dripped down his cheek, using his empty right hand to swat out the last of the embers. He would have to get into the habit of wearing "trashy" clothes so that he wouldn't feel sad whenever they got set on fire, wouldn't he?
"If you put me out, I wouldn't be so bright." Piérre shot back at Aida, fixing her with a curious gaze. "Here, your buddy can see for himself! Incendio duo!" And with the incantation, a large fireball burst from his wand and flung itself towards the opposing boy. The fires may not have been as especially powerful compared to his opponent... but they were certainly more persistent than the flames that had briefly engulfed Piérre. Yep... those would be burning for a while...
The next words from the albino gave Piérre pause, though. "Eh?" The boy tipped his head a bit at the remark of the trick for treat trade. Yes, that had been the bargain at the fall ball... but... uh...
Aida did realize that that had been for the sake of a played up character, right?
At the Ravenclaw boy's mockery of their brilliantly cast and aimed spells, the Britalian quite childishly stuck out his tongue. "Mlegh! You're jealous because we're outsmarting you! C'mon Eevee! Let's show them!" He bantered back, preparing his next spell with a small bounce on his feet, the chafing of his sleeves irritating the reddish burns on his arms.

"Ventus!" Wind erupted from the tip of her wand, swirling forward towards Baines in a flurry. It might not have been powerful in the conventional sense to cause damage, but it would still serve to help the lions out. It fanned the flames lit by Pierre's brilliance, and buffeted the boy's clothing. If they were so lucky, it might throw his balance or stir a piece of clothing into his line of vision to veil an incoming attack.
All things considered, the match was not going horribly. At the very least, Evelynn was faring decently well, although the same could not be said of Piérre. She had expected him to handle the flames on his person, and had cast him a look of surprised concern when he'd allowed himself to burn, a shadow of guilt crossing her features that she had elected to take advantage of an opening in the offense instead of tending to her partner. Eyes swept over him in a quick assessment to make sure he was still okay to continue. She held her reservations to his assertions to keep going, but nodded her head. "Stand firm, then. Continue as planned."

Once, Jake had watched over a duel where the combatants couldn't stop arguing with each other (cough cough Alec Mason). It had been awful. This duel was strange because the combatants SEEMED like they were arguing with each other, but Jake couldn't tell if they were actually mad or just having fun. They didn't SEEM very angry (well, except for when Thomas had got blinded). But to be fair, Jake didn't know if he had any idea WHAT Aida was talking about one way or the other. Maybe what was going on with Thomas and Piérre was just all that banter thing that boys seemed to love and Jake never really understood.
But when Thomas scoffed at the fire charm that had lit his robes, Jake had to groan. Did he WANT the other team to do worse? Jake didn't really get the whole thing about trash talk. What was the point? Usually when somebody wanted to hurt him, Jake's strategy was to make as little noise as possible and hope they just got bored, but that didn't really work during a duel. Still, why did you want to encourage them to do worse when they'd already set you on fire?
Well, it just might be that they were going to regret it. Because the next thing Piérre did was send out a weather-modifying charm - the first time Jake had ever seen one in a duel. An ominous storm cloud began to form over the Ravenclaws' heads like...well...an ominous storm cloud. Jake's eyes flickered upwards at the coming storm. He had heard about this one...oh man....This was NOT good.
But Thomas wasn't going to be outdone. Soon, the platform began to fill up with smoke, and before long Jake had to squint to even see what was going on at all. The Hufflepuff coughed, trying to see the duelists through all the forming haze. A gust of wind from Evelynn (perhaps the only duelist to remain fully focused and serious) set forward through the smoke towards Thomas, but it veered off course towards Aida. Luckily for the Ravenclaw girl she had already bent down to try to pick up her wand - and the gust soared harmlessly overhead. Thank Merlin that she had seen it before the smoke made it impossible! Jake put a hand to his forehead and squinted. With the cloud, the rumblings of oncoming thunder, and all the smoke and wind, it felt more like he'd been stuck in a hurricane instead of just watching over a duel.

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 10

Aida stooped to pick up their wand at last, lucking out by inadvertently dodging the spell that flew overhead.
“You know, trash talk is only effective if there’s at least a grain of truth to it, Piérre!” Hands on hips, Aida threw back their head as if there were still a big curtain of white hair to swing over one shoulder. Old habits die hard. Still, was the haircut really helping Aida see better during this duel? “Hmph. Jealous. The only thing I’m jealous about is your cat. How about we put some stakes on this duel? If I win, I get to steal your cat for a week.”
With the sudden weather change overhead, Aida groaned, really not wanting one more thing to worry about. “You know, Piérre, that fog is a nice look on you. Really brings out your… nothing. Hahahhaha! Okay, okay, that’s a joke.” Aida was a joke of a jester, readily breaking the cardinal rules of 1) not declaring when something is a joke, and 2) not laughing at your own dumb gags. The problem was, Aida always felt overwhelming guilt when saying something untrue, even as a joke. “Okay, okay, you’re actually pretty cute. I can’t lie to you. I mean… hahahaha!!” For pathological truth-teller Aida, there was only farther down to dig when it came to self-incriminating evidence. The only way out was to shut up, and fast.

"To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy."~ Sun TzuExtending his arm entirely overhead, Piérre exhaled slightly as he felt a tingling electricity spark from his fingertips and into the yew wand that stirred a clout of dark grey clouds into the air. The dark grey smoke created from a Fumos only fed into the boy's Metelojinx, which was whispered from him with a small smile on his face as gale force winds whipped his hair back and forth. Lightning began to crackle and Piérre inhaled the new scent of ozone deeply, revelling in the incoming smell of rain and plasma. "Thunder, feel the thunder..." He quoted a line from Imagine Dragons, making another pun on the current circumstance. This was his storm. His chaos.
His perfect symphony.
And once more, the banter with Aida... Was this usually what duels were like? If so, Piérre liked it. "Trash talk is trash based on caricature. Methinks rumors are the ones you're talking about." He sang back with a trill. "I know aaaaaaaall about rumors!"
A bet? For... Figaro? His dearest furry companion? Sometimes his only tether to staying calm in straits under pressure? Basically his fur baby who he would likely take a knife to the hand for? Especially with the first Hexwizard event taking place tomorrow?
"Ah. No." He concluded shortly, trying to wave his hand before him to clear the fog as he squinted through it. "I don't care how good you are with animamals, you aren't taking my Figgy." He tripped over words for a moment as he tried to get his bearings. The billowing blackness was rather thick... And as someone who did heavily rely upon his excellent sight and his ability to pick out movement from the corner of his eyes... This smoke burned his oculars and made them water, making it difficult to see through blurring tears.
Man, second hand smoke sucked. Note to self; stay away from cigarettes and vapes. This stuff is nasty.
Aida (complimented?) made a comment on Piérre's (likely amusing) struggle in the smoke. Brain already turning a clever comeback onto his tongue, the boy responded before he could contain himself. "Fuzzy lens!" An obvious reference to a certain art in filmmaking. "Am I becoming irresistible like all the films say I should be?"
That had been a joke, (at least that had been what the wix had claimed) but Aida's subsequent spill of inner dialogue immediately caused a rash of red to suddenly explode across Piérre's face. Thank God the smoke had been there to cover for him; the prickle up his back and the standing up of the hairs on his neck on their own were easy enough to push away and temper, but the awkward pounding of those words in his head and the flush of the boy's face were... Well...
Thanks for the smoke, Thomas. The Britalian really needed it at this very moment.
Truth be told... Piérre had never been complimented that way before. How was...? How was he supposed to respond to that?
Nearly fumbling his wand out of his fingers, the lad didn't realize that words were tumbling out of his mouth. ""Y-you think... I'm... I'm cu-cute?" The kid felt like he was frozen in place, trying to comprehend what such words would mean for him and a potential friendship turning... Different? Piérre coughed once in the smoke before glancing to Evelynn with the intensity of a confused and slightly embarrassed puppy who was caught in the act of their naughtiness. "Am... Am I... Considered... Cute?"
