Meeting for the First Time PV Simon Kincaid F

With it now being his Third Year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Simon could accurately make some observances upon the first couple weeks of school. The students that were introverts and more one with their thoughts would be busy in their dormitories with their new textbooks or writing back home to avoid the homesickness that they felt. The extroverts would be off on the Grounds or in the Courtyard, conversing with old friends from previous years or perhaps new friends they met on the train ride.

Simon had just finished getting a book from the Library and was now heading back to the Hufflepuff Common Room. He liked having several books with him at all times about a variety of subjects so the had something to occupy his time if he should need to and a book about dragons, one of his favorite things in the magical world, wasn't among his current stock in his enchanted satchel that rested over his shoulder. On that satchel, sewn on the side was a crocheted pocket where a little gray rat slept comfortably away, not even having known they made a trip to the school library.

Simon headed up the stairs and turned the corridor as he glanced down at the book in his hands to examine the back cover. Muggle books were always so good at providing a short summary of the text on the back covers but most books in the wizarding world just seemed to be basic covers. Seeing no words or pictures, he turned the book back over just as a girl approached and began to introduce himself. He knew her to be a Second Year but he had unfortunately never had a conversation with her before.

He smiled as she introduced herself, glad of that. Simon liked knowing his fellow students at Hogwarts - especially fellow Hufflepuffs. "Pleasure to meet you, Rita Su," he said as he transferred the book into his other hand so his right hand was free to extend out a handshake to her. Formalities.

"I've got plenty of time to make a new friend. I'm Simon. Simon Kincaid." Knowing that she wasn't a first year, he wouldn't ask some of the basic questions like whether she needed any help finding somewhere around the castle or how she felt about her sorting. No, those were good questions for First Years. "Another year is upon us! Excited for it? How was your Summer?"

Rita was glad that Simon responded to her. She understood not everyone enjoys hanging around in the corridors as she does, and she did spend quite an amount of time in the courtyard or other places on campus to interact with people and make a few friends. But she was just not in the mood to go to the courtyard or other places that day. She just wanted to stay in the corridors to interact with random students that accidentally came across it. She was still a bit disappointed because there is not a lot of people in the corridors, just a few students, but almost all of them are busy with things and don`t have a lot of time to talk with her. Fortunately, that particular Hufflepuff boy, named Simon, was willing to spend some time chatting with her while passing by the corridors to enter the Hufflepuff common room. Although she did not know who Simon was, she had heard rumors about him being the popular boy around the school, and things about his relationship. She did not believe everything they say, so she decided to forget that for a second, and instead, focus on having a chat with him and responding to his questions, "Hi Simon, nice to meet you. My name is Rita, Rita Su, a second-year from the same house as you. Yeah, I had a great summer, joining some summer camps, and spending some quality time with my family in London. And, of course, I am expecting for the new school year, and cannot wait to go on some new adventures. How about you? Do you have a great summer?" She looked at Simon and waited for his response after finishing her questions.

He smiled, glad to know that the fellow Hufflepuff before him had a nice Summer. Some didn't have that luck so it was always nice to hear when one enjoyed their time away from school. "Summer camp? Did you go to the school one?" but just as he said that, another part of what she had just revealed to him caught his attention. London? Her family in London? Oh, another native! Practically a neighbor!

"Wait, you're from London? I'm from London! South Kensington. We're like next door neighbors practically," and he smile widely. Okay, maybe not neighbors really, but when you went to a school where some were from Scotland and beyond, it kind of seemed that way when you shared London Town with a fellow student.

"I had a great Summer, yea. I spent time with my Aunt Maggie and got to see my muggle friends. Took in some hockey and some skateboarding, worked on my music, got to Church often, and even got in a visit with the girlfriend. I'm a bit back in withdrawal though from my phone - music and Google and all good things." Communicating with the girlfriend constantly. That wasn't as easy via owl or trying to catch her somewhere in the Castle.

"What's got you most happy about being back at Hogwarts?"

Seeing the warm smile of Simon when she told him she had a great summer and she also lives in London, Rita also showed a friendly smile to the fellow Hufflepuff. "Yeah, I went to the school one, and had a great time there. The activities there were pretty great, there are mutiny, truth or dare, triathlon, and many more interesting ones. Did you also go to the school camp?"

Rita was also glad she found a London native here in a Scottish school, as she thought it was always great to have sometime who comes from the same place as her when she went to a boarding school in a different place. At least it made she feel she was not very far from her muggle family at home in London."It`s great you are also from London. I suppose we are not too far from each other. I think most of the students I know are either Scottish or comes from rural areas in England, so it is great to find a London native here in a Scottish school here! Maybe we could meet up in London and visit some places together someday during the school holiday!"

"Anyway, I`m glad you have a great summer, hockey and skateboarding sounds interesting to play, although I`ve never played them before, maybe you can teach me someday. And you have a girlfriend? I believe you have a pretty sweet time together during the summer!" Rita responded to Simon with a smile as she thought Simon seemed to be a very nice new friend to make and it was great talking to him, "As for being back here at Hogwarts, I suppose I`m most interested in taking part in a variety of events and activities, since there are lot of them and they help me relieve some stress from the busy schoolwork. What`s more, I enjoy meeting up with new people, and as an extrovert, I can never have too many friends! What about you? Are you enjoying this new academic year so far?"

"I went to the Summer Camp the year before this one," he said and thought back to it. It was filled with some fun times but also a lot of.....oddities. That was one way to put it. He remembered the kissing competition during the Spin the Bottle game between he and Haley Rose and their fight, swapping clothes with Dan Palmer and having him show him the ways of being barefoot for a long duration, and skinnydipping within the Great Lake and being caught by Paige Grant. Interesting times, indeed. "Didn't go to this last one though. I had some big Summer plans," he said as he smiled but it faded pretty quickly. He was glad that he got to meet his father and yet so frustrated with the man at the same time.

"We should meet up sometime, Rita. I'd like that. Whether it's in muggle London or Diagon Alley." Both sounded great and he loved that it would be so convenient to the both of them! She was right about that, about a lot of the students being in the rural areas of England or in Scotland like his AngelFyre.

She asked about the girlfriend and lumped her in with his summer plans. The truth was he did get to see his girlfriend in the summer but not because she was back in his muggle world in London. "Yea, I've been dating AngelFyre McCubbin since April," he said with a bright smile. He always brightened his already brightened self when talking of her. "She's a fellow Hufflepuff, do you know her? She came to visit me in London for some days over break. It was.....absolutely amazing." He thought back to her getting to know Aunt Maggie, seeing his church, meeting his muggle friends, the love lock on the bridge, the concert they snuck into.

"Third year is pretty hard but I'll welcome the challenge. I have thought a time or two about going into Hogsmeade though to just take a break and clear my mind, you know?" Maybe Rita could relate to that. Maybe Rita could join him.

Rita smiled when Simon responded to her delightedly. "Simon really seems to be a great addition to my friends list. Maybe he would be the first friend I made for this new academic year. He seems to be really nice, and I feel lucky to meet someone like him!" She thought with a smile.

"Yeah, I think meeting up in the muggle London or Diagon Alley seems to be a great idea! We should definitely meet up in London during the school holidays, maybe during Christmas holiday, as long as my parents allow me to do so!" Rita responded to Simon with a smile, thinking it must be great to meet up with Simon during the holiday and do some amazing activities together, as long as she could persuade her parents to allow her to go out with an older boy. Anyway, she had persuaded her parents to allow her to go to a muggle camp, then it should be OK.

"AngelFyre? I honestly don`t know her, but I will be glad if you can introduce her to me. She has a beautiful name, and I`m pretty sure she must be a very nice girl in order for her to date a nice boy like you!" Rita wondered how this fellow Hufflepuff girl named AngelFyre look like. Such a weird name. Maybe, she should meet AngelFyre someday, and became friends with the girl, unfamiliar to Rita at least at this point.

"I suppose third year must be hard because you have more subjects such as Care of Magical Creatures and Divination."Rita nodded, acknowledging it must be hard with more subjects. However, she was actually kind of expecting for Care of Magical Creature, since she was obsessed with nature and animals.

The next thing Simon said gave Rita a little surprise. "What? Hogsmeade? You want me to break the rules and sneak into Hogsmeade with you? I`ve never sneaked into Hogsmeade before, but I suppose there are many interesting things to do, so maybe having a trip together is a good idea!" Rita did not know at this point she would sneak into Hogsmeade with a first year Ravenclaw named @Emmie Bailey later in October, and if Simon agreed her to sneak in Hogsmeade with him, that would be Rita`s second trip.

"Anyway, Simon, you are very nice. I would like to be friends with you." With a friendly smile, Rita added a final sentence to her response, hoping Simon would agree to be friends with her.

That was something Simon could never relate to, even when he was younger. Aunt Maggie was 14 years old when he was born, and in some ways she was more like a sister than a guardian. In many ways, she was more like a friend than a guardian. That carried with it both good and both bad. She had an unyielding trust for Simon and allowed him to do literally anything that he wanted, whenever he wanted, wherever he wanted. Never did he have to ask permission.

So if Rita could convince her parents to allow her to have an afternoon or so into London or Diagon Alley then it was golden because he already would have the liberty to do so.

"It's not really sneaking in if you're with a prefect, now is it?" he smiled to her. "Besides, I'd love a girl's opinion, and a friend's opinion, on a gift idea for the girlfriend." The last gift he had given AngelFyre, at least that came from the wizarding world, was the wizard camera and developing solution. She had put that to good use.

"You'd be helping out a prefect, what could be more responsible than that? You could write home to your parents about it and they could think quite highly on it." Maybe. He didn't know what her parents were like. He didn't know really what any parents were like. Simon glanced at two people walking down the corridors as they passed the two Hufflepuffs.

"Are your parents pretty strict?"

"Well, I don`t think my parents are being strict, they are just worried about my safety, which is quite understandable as it is parents` duty. However, if I told them I am helping a prefect, they will probably allow me to go out with friends during the holiday. Luckily, they are not that kind of parents who would reject their children whatever they ask. I think actually they are quite supportive for my decisions and will allow me to have some freedom as long as I don`t get myself in trouble." Rita responded to Simon with a smile, thinking her parents would probably allow her to go out with a London native friend during the holidays to do some interesting things as long as she had a good reason.

"Anyway, as for the gift for AngelFyre, is that a gift for a particular festival like Christmas or birthday, or just a general gift? I think I would try to give you some suggestions, although I honestly don`t know much about gifts. By the way, do you have any idea what AngelFyre would like?" The idea of giving Simon some gift suggestions sounded good, but the question was Rita did not know AngelFyre, not to mention what gifts she would enjoy.

"Alright, let`s move on. I really want to know more about you as a person. Could you share some of your hobbies and interests? For me, music is a huge part of my life. I also enjoy outdoor activities, quidditch, nature, and meeting up with people in general." Rita smiled and threw a personal question to Simon and waited for him to respond. Rita wanted to see if they had anything in common, which may suggest what things they could do together next time they met. Anyway, Rita felt lucky to meet such a nice boy, and would like to develop her friendship with Simon further.

"That's super cool that they'll let you do some things. I've got some muggle friends back in London and oy, their parents can be so restricting. How can you develop any sort of independence at all if you're never given the chance for a bit of freedom? For a bit of leadership? I dunno, it just never made much sense to me."

"Just a gift for the sake of a gift." Those sometimes could be the best ones.

As for his hobbies, well, that was easy, but there were a lot of them! "I like a lot of things. Music, we've got that in common. I think that music is the core to my existence - I like playing the guitar, playing the piano, listening to music, singing, writing music, and dancing. I also am pretty big on Faith and worship. I read quite often. I like to study and learn things, especially about the wizarding world. I'm fascinated by dragons and interested in medicine. I like swimming and ice skating and hockey and skateboarding. I like just socializing. I like broom racing. I don't tend to go outdoors too often..." he said, and might have revealed a little too much in that last statement.
