Jack nodded in gratitude when he was told he was doing fine, but inwardly he thought simply showing up was the very least he could have done. Ye-jun must not have had very high expectations. While Jack could understand how one would keep one's expectations low to avoid being disappointed, he wanted to do more than just meet those expectations. He wanted to go far above and beyond them.
"I'd get to see what you mean? Why, do you own some of that royal Asian clothing?" Jack asked musingly. "I hope I do get to see it. You look amazing in what you're wearing now, though."
He was briefly distracted by various strange disturbances in the crowd, including peoples' heads turning into pumpkins, others spouting strings of unintelligible words, and...a doll on fire? Nope, nope - definitely better not to get caught up in any of that just then. He had a date to impress.
As Ye-jun took his arm, Jack beamed back at him and started heading toward the trail marked by a multitude of pumpkins and detailed animal sculptures, pointing out a few of the storybook props that had been placed here and there in the courtyard as they passed by in case Ye-jun had missed them.

Edme clutched tightly at the skirt of her loud red and white dress, stuck between feeling like throwing up or jumping up and down with glee.⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄
The weeks prior had been a mix of stress and excitement, as on one hand, they had been asked to the dance by the beautiful, cool, interesting Avery McCall, and on the other hand, they had been asked out to the ball. It was all a bit of a jumble of emotions, so much so that she wasn't sure if that fizz in her gut was the ache of anxiety or not.
They had been standing in the cold for a bit now, working up the courage to step out into the courtyard and face the girl who she had gladly agreed to go to the dance with only a week prior. As much as they wanted to head in, it was a bit of a pain to think of all the people out there that would be seeing her in such a flashy gown. Last year, with the help of a fellow first year, they had gotten a fairly modest, less-flashy dress with a plain brown color and a swooshy skirt. But now, she had gone all out in getting a beautiful rose colored gown that tumbled down to the ground in a magical flourish.
The dress was amazing really, the hem of the skirt dotted with bright red roses that stretched and faded up wistfully. The collar was a bit low, but the lace in between managed to cover any showing bits, and they had managed to find a fairly warm long-sleeve to slip on underneath, the lace design of roses and vines. Even her flower-crown was special, red and white roses mixing around between dull and wilted to alive and thriving.
Once the Ravenclaw had finally mustered up enough courage to step out into the courtyard, they found that everyone had had the same idea with dressing, some peoples outfits even more elaborate than Edme's. The entire outer area was decorated with fancy displays and delicious snacks, each designed to look like they were pulled straight out of a fairytale. And sure enough, stood by the fountain like a wilted flower in the rough, was Avery McCall.
At first, the Ravenclaw wasn't sure if they should say anything, before quickly remembering that Avery was her date, and she had somewhat of an obligation to say hello, especially considering the wait. "Avery! Avery!" she called out, rushing over towards her date, making sure her dress was being securely held above the stones as she went. "Avery! Hello! Sorry I'm so late I was... studying." It was a cheap lie and they knew it. "You look amazing!"
Finally taking a better look at the other's outfits, the girl had on an exquisite dark dress, and had a somewhat matching flower crown to Edme's, though the difference complimented the whole outfit. She looked breathtaking. The second year couldn't contain the rosy blush that spread across their cheeks, making them look the same color as the roses she donned.⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄Entering the ballReducioRace: Werewolf

Upon LeStrange's entrance, a rather large collection of students appeared on their way out. If not for the mentions of petting animals, or a peculiar activity of "save the date", Thomas would have suspected immediate recognition of his bearded facade. Whether true or not, the boy had always felt the cold shoulder of his peers. Most likely due to his malicious associations, or perhaps he just smelled. The boy eyes widened slightly, peering to his armpit with a nonchalant sniff. Ah, no matter, the suit offered enough layers to mask a foul scent.
Thomas buried the ideas of acquiring pleasant scented beard oils as a former grade peer(@Percival Grey) went against the traffic of those exiting. His tardy entrance displayed a healthy lack of care for the ball's happenings. Though as Thomas' eyes would hone on the curly headed newspaper enthusiast, his icy blue eyes halted. Percival Grey it was, joining Thomas as a former prefect and close friend of Santario Martin.
Given how things closed with Santario, all arrows pointed to a sour relationship between LeStrange and Grey. Yet a constant theme of indifference over basic quarrels may have given the boys hope for a common thread. A saving grace to unite in opposition to the true forces of evil that plagued the school. No telling if the coven's dark forces still held @Santario Martin in their grasp. One could argue it was more important now than ever for unification between the boys in her aid.
Still, when Thomas held a hand of cards, he rarely made the mistake of showing it. NoneThe boy continued to drift throughout the party, always on the edges of the action, not daring to enter the dance floor and interfacing with a small scuffle that was happening on it (hag doll chaos). Curiously, he continued to watch and observe everything he could; the couples, the potion effects, the bitter or the sweet reunions... The boy felt his jaw tighten slightly and his hand lightly rubbed the green scruff once more before letting out a pent up sigh and resigning himself to simply continuing to drift about like a ghost among the partygoers. He had nothing better to do, after all... It wasn't like... he had a date or anything... heck, even his brother was preoccupied by what Piérre had to assume was his classmates or something...
Though every passing second, the boy was feeling like he would have to give that tall twin of his another smack with the magical glove he was currently wringing between his hands. Maybe if Piérre hit him hard enough, it would reset his brain. But, of course, he could not just walk right up to his behemoth brother and give him a good whack. He had tried that last spring, and that had gone really well (#ObviousSarcasmIsObvious), so it was now obvious that the boy would have to undertake his underhanded deeds by means of subterfuge or otherwise deception to meet his ends.
And doing that, in the boy's case, often involved a good deal of stalking distanced observation. What better way to do so than by wandering about and keeping the pattern of his movements generally obscured to the curious eye. Yes, he could disguise his observations by offering potions to those unfortunate few who had been afflicted by the potions that had been lovingly spiked into the apples. How funny it was to watch these individuals suffering the effects of these incredible potions... watching them be confused or worried before realizing that the effects were (mostly) harmless. In fact, some of them had a more fortunate side effect, as the boy felt his eye drawn to another muscular young man who was (maybe?) flirting with some girls around him (Hadrian) before he ripped his gaze away and continued his mission.
From the side of the party, a silvery bengal would trot out lightly to greet his brother, twining between the Beetlejuice's legs for a moment in a beg to be picked up. Naturally, Piérre obliged. Who was he to turn away his most sweet, precious familiar in the entire world? Letting out a purr of his own, Piérre coddled his kitten. "Good boy Figgy... Yus, you're such a good boy... Mwah!" he kissed the Bengal's nose, causing Figaro to sneeze once before shaking his head lightly and then yawning and licking his lips with half-closed eyes.
Smiling softly at his cat, Piérre lightly slapped his cheeks to restore warmth to them and then caused an enormously devilish grin to cross his face and began to carry himself with not only a soft sway but with a mild hunch that caused his shoulders to fall forward and hips to just barely carry forward; just like his cosplay. The boy was fond of wearing masks. It was something he was good at. It was something he had practiced. Now... Beetlejuice had an agenda tonight.

As AngelFyre stood looking at Simon, playfully commanding him to heal himself, the piercing screams of a girl caught her attention and then on the heels of that, a flash of white hair in a green cape cemented it. It looked to be Colin, but his back was to her and she could not be 100% certain. With costumes being so prevalent this evening, she was not even sure the white mane was not someone’s wig.
And then she heard him casting, in quick succession, "Incendio Duo!" and "Finite Incantatem!" Whatever in the world was going on, the girl sounded like it was dire. It never crossed her mind for a second that Colin would be the reason for the girl’s predicament, so that only left the reasonable conclusion that he was battling yet another foe, on her behalf, or she was the foe. AngelFyre needed to know nothing more than that. Her friend needed help and she had promised him he would not ever have to battle alone if she could help it.
She quickly loosened, and then detached her long skirt, revealing her slim-leg trousers beneath. She wore the beige trousers for the cold, never thinking they would come in handy from a mobility standpoint. Looking quickly at Simon as she kicked her heels off, she kissed the top of his head and said as she was running off, “Colin needs help. I have to go!”
She ran straight to Colin and stopped by his side. To her horror, she saw a girl that she believed to be Colin’s cousin being attacked by what looked like a… doll? Seriously? And then she could hear the creepy little thing screeching out something about being a real girl! Wow. Was this ever a sick twist on Pinocchio. Grim faerie tale, indeed. Chucky's baby sister? A distant cousin, maybe?
And there was blood…so much blood. Everywhere.
Feeling like even if Colin’s casting worked to stop the doll from further attacks, some backup would not hurt, so AngelFyre drew her wand and zeroed in on the demonic child’s toy and spoke “Arresto Momentum” while steadily motioning her hand, thankful the spider had not bitten her casting hand.
Looking around at all the blood, AngelFyre hoped Simon did not follow her over here, but who was she kidding? If he was not here already, he soon would be. Did she really think he was just going to sit back there while she took off to help her friend, running headlong into who knew what danger? No. But there had been no time to think before racing over here.
Please God, let our spells have worked and let someone here in the crowd have the presence of mind to ‘Ferula’ and ‘Scourgify’ before Simon gets here and has to deal with all of this blood.
She kept her eyes on the girl and the doll, her wand still at the ready. “Colin, if those castings don’t work, I say we go in and try to physically pull the doll from her unless you have a better idea.”
And then she thought she may have just that, so she called out into the crowd, eyes still fixed on the redheaded nightmare of a child's toy. "Is anyone here able to cast a Full Body-Bind Curse on the doll? We could really use the help if so!

She couldn't stop it, and now her face was bright red that nobody could tell if it was due to shortness of breath from the breathless laughter or the humiliation. Her hands flew to her face as she attempted to cover the redness, the apple falling from her grasp. She must've looked certifiably insane, laughing with her head buried in her hands as she tried to navigate her way back to the entrance. She wasn't sure if she wanted to leave River- she did like this girl but there was no way she wanted to let her see Chiaki in the mess of a state she was in currently.
However, the option to leave without being noticed seemed to be no longer possible as Chiaki spotted the girl all dressed up entering. To her luck, the potion's effect was seeming to fade out, leaving her with something that could be disguised as very odd hiccups.
Opting to simply stay as quiet as she could until she was certain the giggles had gone, she tapped River on the shoulder and waved a hand for hello, smiling. However, just as she would feel the potion's effects vanish and she could actually speak, the game was announced.
"T-That is u-us, r-r-right?" she said shakily, some small giggles escaping. She blushed again, hoping her words didn't come across as mocking or sarcastic. "A-Also I-I r-really l-like y-your dress. I-It's very b-beautiful a-and s-suits you w-well."ReducioAction: Leaving for the gameStats:

As she had shoved her way through the crowed, she quickly assessed as she drew her wand. It made her blood run cold realizing how similar this strange doll from hell looked to it's victim. It's violent nature, its human-like behavior... a hag doll, touched by the one it mirrored in appearance. She was sure of it. The memories of being a small and nieve first year, lost and running scared through the Forbidden Forest... her friends and peers, slowly one by one finding various dolls, each looking the spitting image of one of the members of their little party. The Care of Magical Creatures Professor at the time put the fear of God in them that night with his warning not to touch any doll that looked like yourself. And only a couple years prior had Illowy seen the consequences that came from daring to touch the evil and vicious little creatures.
"Do not touch it." the fifth year barked as she placed herself between the danger and the younger students, hearing the nervous little blonde plan to try to physically interfere with her posse. This wasn't a game, and she didn't like the idea of young ones who didn't understand the true severity risking themselves heedlessly.
"Pertrificus Totalus!" she casted, keen to take careful aim at the doll and utilize as much skill and precision as she could. This was a delicate situation, and it needed to be handled quickly and the doll separated from it's victim before it altogether killed her. Still, in the back of her mind, she reminded herself of the possibility that this may not be the only one lurking about, waiting its doppleganger to find it. She had to ensure this was the only one, and ensure it was destroyed quickly before it succeeded with it's goals.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

As his intended date ended up leaving him dateless, Ginyami wandered into the courtyard curiously, glancing about as though trying to take in all the sights at once. There was so much to look at and eat and admire and the Japanese student found himself somewhat overwhelmed. It wasn't until he caught sight of a familiar face that he finally stopped to focus on it and recognized it as belonging to his classmate, Sara.
"...Sara? Sara!" he called, hurrying over to meet his peer. "How long have you been here? Did you come with someone?"
He peered around, as if looking for someone else, but the only thing he found was the tree Sara stood near. Turning back to his friend, he laughed at the expression he was making and shook his head.
"Sara, what are you thinking about? Your face has that angry look to it again. You're going to scare some of the younger students if you aren't careful."
As they were in the same year, Sara had essentially grown up with Ginyami at Mahoutokoro and thus the latter had come to learn how to read the former's behaviors. Ginyami couldn't help find it hilarious just how often poor Sara's intentions and thoughts got misconstrued and misunderstood by others. Perhaps that had something to do with why he seemed to be all alone just then.

ReducioThe kind of look that would’ve looked simple if not for him being hot as hell. ( Lovely Creature Ability ). It’s a mere long thick jacket in dark red colours, matched with a shirt with a pair of black pants. Nothing else has been made to add to his appearance, except for the gloves that cover his frosty hands. In addition to that, a black scarf is hung on his shoulders and wrapped around his neck. Looks like someone is easily cold.

“Oh, Ginyami, it’s n-nice to see you” He greeted the familiar 4th year with a polite nod. Around the other boy, Sara’s shoulders suddenly appeared less tense than before. Conversing with someone he knew was always preferable company. Perhaps a break from his ‘mission’ today was all he needed. That was until Ginyami pointed out a very crucial detail about Sara’s face. Startled by the realization, Sara’s hand instinctively went up to cover his face.
“ I uh.. I don’t want to do that” he muttered gently, though since his face was covered by his palms, it came out muffled. He realised a few milliseconds later that covering his face wasn’t going to help much either. Slowly and shyly, he lowered his hands. “ I didn’t mean to. I’m just…prepping myself before talking to someone new. It takes a lot of um.. Courage for me to do that. I actually came here alone to uh…challenge myself, see? Though, you make a fair point…I don’t want to look intimidating..” Sara sighed, his voice getting quieter and quieter as he went on. In the past, Sara would’ve called his face an issue that needed to be fixed. The sole reason he would have a tough time with making friends. But that led sort of thinking had led him to nothing but unhappiness. While he had come to terms with his appearance, he certainly didn’t want this sort of thing to be a habit. Because of that, he was sorta grateful for Ginyami said something.
“ Is this..better?” he gestured to his face, which- to be fair did not look that much different. Only that instead of (ʘ言ʘ╬), it looked like (•ˋ _ ˊ•). The boy had a naturally angry face, what else can be said?
“ Ah, I haven’t been here for a while. I mean at this particular spot at least. I arrived quite a while ago, but I’ve been spending time with the animals at the petting zoo. They have the cutest cat like creatures. I believe..kezzels are what they’re called? “ at the mention of the petting zoo, Sara seemed to be much more at ease. As if just remembering the adorable creatures have lifted a huge boulder off his shoulders. “ A-anyway I had fun. I just can’t stay too long. What about you, Ginyami? Have you just arrived? Are you waiting for someone? “.

He was about to suggest that they head out to see that unicorn when he too heard the scream. AngelFyre was quick to act, tossing the skirt portion of her outfit over to him and ran with her wand in that direction. This meant she was throwing herself into danger and if she was going to be in danger, he was going to be there to try and protect her. Always.
Simon too took off, although he didn't first and foremost pull his wand from his pocket. Wandcasting was difficult for him, and the whole magical menace part of being a dhampir came into play quite often, that his first instinct for something was logic and strength as opposites to magic. Maybe it was because he grew up in the muggle world so the magic came second. Most likely though it was because he doubted his abilities.
He too would come upon the reheaded girl, with red all over her from the blood, and this thing was under full attack upon her. Spells were being casted by it and he pause, just for that moment, to see if any of his friends' spells worked on the thing. If it would unattach, he would hurry over to the girl and try his luck a second time at the bandaging spell and deliver another "Ferula!" hoping that it would be as successful this time as it had with AngelFyre's hand just moments before.
Simon was part of the Healing Internship with the School Nurse, and if he could help out in a situation, it would be healing and compassion. He didn't trust himself and any sort of spells that would attack, only mend. At least not when he didn't have to.
