IRL I want to get a Border Collie if I ever win the lottery. If I don't, I'm only getting a GSD as that's the dog I've been wanting ever since I was 5 years old... My border collie would be a black and white one named Oreo and my GSD would be a brown and slight black called Xena.

like if you're asking my opinion, nahhhhhhhh.
it has some rp potential but overall I think developing friendships are wayyyyy more interesting, and anyways if you wait to start rping romantic relationships it can be more of a slowburn friends to partners sort of thing versus a superficial "ahh you held my hand once so now I am in love"
so unless you really want to lean hard into the puppy-love childhood crush thing, overall it's a big commitment that doesn't really develop either character in a meaningful way. But you know the person that you're writing best, so it's ultimately a character decision that you yourself are the only one actually qualified to make!
