Closed Two Badgers and Two Cats PV Justin Whiteley

Justin walked slowly through the expansive castle grounds, enjoying the rare clear skies and relatively warm temperatures. And after several long days of rain, he was thoroughly sick of being inside, and jumped at the chance to leave. Obviously, Marple, being the annoying little anomaly she was, had insisted on following him. And he could never end up refusing her for long. So here she was, padding happily through the damp, narrow, stony paths alongside him.

Autumn was quite picturesque at Hogwarts. Everything was bright and golden. Even the Forbidden Forest looked ever so slightly less ... Forbidding. Yellow and orange leaves blanketed the grass, glistening in the morning sun. Sprinkled throughout the grounds were a few large, imposing trees, vibrant in orange.
Justin looked back down at his cat, who was several metres ahead, running along in pursuit of something. He sped up slightly, trying to keep up with her along the winding maze of the grounds.

After a few minutes of brisk walking, Marple apparently decided she’d had enough and started in search of alternative forms of entertainment. Before Justin could stop her, she had decided to approach a small, red cat nearby on the grass, next to a girl reading.

“Marple,” Justin called to his cat. She pointedly ignored him, and continued nosing around. “Marple, stop bothering him.” He picked her up quickly, before she could scamper.

“Sorry about my cat,” he said eventually, turning to the girl, who had just put her book down to talk. “Hi! I’m Justin. Oh, and this is Marple. She’s been quite excitable today.”
“She is adorable, isn’t she?” Marple purred softly in his arms. “But she’s rather weird. Sometimes she doesn’t listen to a word I say, and others she refuses to leave me alone for even a second.”
He sat down on the grass, taking off his backpack and placing it to his side. Marple immediately took the opportunity to jump out his arms and start walking around.
He looked at her for a few moments before turning up. “The weather is lovely. And autumn is really nice. The leaves and colours ... C’est beau.
I do quite like winter, though. Maybe even more than autumn. Winter’s wonderful – if you don’t mind the cold too much. But I think,” He paused and looked at Marple again, who was curled up next to him, clearly still awake. “I think she’d disagree with me there.”

Justin watched the small orange cat. It seemed a lot quieter than Marple. She was always a ball of, very soft, energy. “Understatement. Must be nice to have a cat like Peanut sometimes instead.”

Peanut’s bright fur blended perfectly into the leafy ground as he approached Marple. She, in comparison, stood out like a tiny blob of mercury – which was rather appropriate.

“Winter is fun.”

Marple inspected the new cat carefully.
“I don’t see that much snow outside Hogwarts, so I have to make the most of it while I’m here.”

After a few more moments of intense suspense, Marple apparently concluded that he was not an enemy resumed her activity.

“I don’t think summer is that bad here – especially not in Scotland. It’s usually only around 20 degrees. For me, that’s cool enough to walk comfortably outside – which is nice cos I do that a lot. But it is more boring than the other seasons, yes.”
He looked at the cats for a few minutes. They were happily playing. Marple was obviously the more energetic of the two. Obviously. She was so why with most strangers, and yet sometimes ...

“Do you come here often? To the grounds? To just sit and read?”
