It was September 4, 2022.

A lovely Sunday morning but not too early, since Kim didn't care for early morning time. But it was still morning.

Even though he hadn't set up any of the other club meetings this year, the TCC was important. It was the first one he'd ever established and was the only one he felt drawn to on an almost instinctual basis. The reason was probably because food spoke to him and always had all his short life. Kim hoped starting this club would also inspire others. As such, even though he was distracted and quite busy with everything that was going on this year, the TCC was something he couldn't put off. But he would be making some minor changes, such as regarding the audition process.

Last year he'd gotten a lot of people who had auditioned to enter the club. Many had applied but only a few had actually passed the auditions. Those who had passed had been sent on their way and received their star pin-patch and information afterward. But were pretty much separated from the others. This time, Kim would be doing something a little differently when it came to the auditions. The process was still the same for the most part. Those who auditioned would make him something to show their skills and he would judge them based off those very skills.

As a result, their star pin-patch would be given to them.

That wouldn't change. But what would change was that Kim now had some members in the club.

He didn't want to neglect them but at the same time they couldn't very well help him with the auditions. It took him a few days to figure it out but he finally figured out something that would be fun for them, would include them in some manner and also let him get the auditions done for the newcomers too. And those who hadn't been able to pass the first time around, or had failed due to nerves or indecision. Kim had put together a poster, explaining things and instructed all the current members of the TCC and those who wanted to audition for the TCC to come to Room 101.

Kim had also stated the time would at 11:00AM on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Once they got there, he'd explain everything to them. But he promised that the current members and those who wanted to audition to become part of the TCC would both be able to do something that day. Of course, the ones who auditioned would need to prepare a signature dish to create for him. But the members already part of the club would not have to. They were in for a treat. Kim hoped the current members would at least leave with a full stomach by the time the auditions were over.

This time he hadn't brought any food or drinks.

Why should he? This was a cooking club, where people could make their own things if they had the skill.

If they didn't, if they stuck with the club they'd eventually obtain such skills. And if they needed any extra help, they could always ask for his help in figuring things out. Kim's outfit was a white shirt and black pants and shoes. On top of it he was wearing a white chef's jacket and a black apron around his waist. When someone entered the room, they would see most of the desks in the room arranged in a very long horizontal line a short distance away from the wall. It was almost as if the desks were laid out in such a manner to face some kind of display that would be taking place.

There was a handwritten sign placed on what looked similar to an easel next to the horizontal line of chairs.

~ Audition Contestants ~

Obviously, this was where those who came to audition to get into the TCC were supposed to wait for their turn.

Not far away from this section, another partition could be seen, this time a small and short one. There was another easel with some writing on it that was placed in front of this partition and if one drew closer they could read it.

~ Members of the TCC ~

Behind that partition were a large row of chairs and desks arranged in what could have been called a semi-circle pattern. Handmade cards with the names, @Bailey Glade, @Marina Oriel, @Eun-ji Lee Hunt and @Sage Lilly could be seen on each of the chair-desk combinations. There were many other chair-desk combinations but these did not have names. But it made one wonder why there were so many of them. What the current members did not know was that Kim intended on letting those who auditioned today sample the dishes of all the others who auditioned earlier.

They would sit with the current members of the TCC and be able to try out the audition dishes. Since they were not members yet, they weren't given name cards but they could at least sit with the members and everyone could try a delicious dish! Well, hopefully it would be a delicious dish. As for the current members of the TCC, the reason for them coming today was for them to sample all the audition dishes and enjoy some hopefully delicious food! Kim would also take their opinions of the dishes into account too, when deciding upon what rank to bestow upon them.

All in all, it would be a pretty nice day!

Now, back to the auditions! Upon entering, you would be able to see the smaller, shorter partition nearby.

It would be obvious that the horizontal row of chairs/desks seen almost instantly upon entering the room were for those who wanted to audition. And of course, what lay behind the partition was where current members of the TCC were supposed to head over to. But there was also an extremely tall and wide partition that you could also see as soon as you walked in through the door. Those who sat down at the chair-desk combinations would not be able to see past or through this tall, wide partition. This was to give the ones who auditioned some privacy from the others.

After all, nerves could wreck havoc on people. There was a small section directly across from the makeshift 'kitchen' where a comfortable armchair and table could be seen. This was where their adviser, Hjørdis Jensen, would be seated and she could usually be found reading a book there. Kim would welcome those who entered with a nod and instruct them to take a seat at one of the horizontal row of chair-desk combinations. Once enough people had come, he would start the auditions and take them one at a time into the area. Kim would sample their dish and then decide.

Next, he would take it over to the current members of the TCC for them to sample too.

If there was any left over it would be sent to the next person etc... but of course he would explain all of this later on.

For now, Kim waited for the current members to arrive and for the ones who wanted to audition to come. It would be interesting to see how many were still there and how many more would want to join.

Sirin had come rather unprepared for the TCC, to be frank. Even so, she still could never pass up the opportunity to join a club full of seasoned chefs - it was like a dream world to Sirin. She'd applied recently and understood that she had to undergo an audition to earn a rank among the TCC members. Sirin walked feeling confident in her abilities - her friends and family would often praise her cooking. Today, Sirin strutted in, ready as she'd ever been. She wasn't sure if she had to prepare a dessert or a main dish - why not both? She'd convinced the house elves to let her practice with the kitchen and mastered the recipes of Mapodofu - a classic dish her mother used to make - and almond tofu. After each practice session, Sirin would share the food and ask for the elves' opinions - and these sessions always ended with jolly laughter and fully stomachs.

Somehow she'd managed to cram all of this practice in between her schoolwork - after all, it was a club and certainly, schoolwork would hold a higher priority. Not in Sirin's mind - she prioritized everything equally (which could be a strength or weakness, to be honest).

Today was also particularly special because she had not brought Elysia the ferret with her. The kitchen was just too dangerous - curiosity killed the cat, yes, but it might as well also kill the ferret. As Sirin approached what looked to be the designated club area, Sirin waved to Kim.

"Heyo Kim! What a lovely setup you have here - this is for the TCC, correct?"

Edward as quick as he could, arrived to the precise destination for the Trip Cook Club auditions. His stomach bubbled more than a potion gone wrong, more than someone's face after drinking polyjuice, but dear no! It wasn't from nervousness it was from excitement to join a club all about cooking and baking! Edward had founded his love for cooking when he was young, originally it was a way to take care of his mother when she was sick but quickly turned into one, of many, passions he had. Edward loved how the most simplest brownies could create the largest grin, and uplift even the most depressed spirits. He made him feel happiness himself, Edward had gotten really good over the years, he and his mother took turns cooking even. One night she would make lamb the next he would make mixed rice! He loves to experiment and learn new things, and of course he wasn't a professional he was bound to get some things wrong, like the time he tried to make creme brulee... Well, we rather not talk about that. When he walked in he was blown away, there sat the Sly There in Head of House... Sadly Edward had forgotten her name, but that mean this meant business, Edward was determined to show off his best skills. He saw a couple people he recognized but couldn't recall their names at the moment, it was too early to think. He could tell that there at the table were the members of TCC, as they had name tags and everything, and there across sat an empty one with none, that must have been the auditioners table. He took a seat waving politely with a dopey grin at the auditioners table, he saw a girl with long purple hair and icy sapphire eyes, she said something directed to a handsome boy that sat at the table, Edward squinted to see the name tag, but no luck. He waited patiently for the next move of the Tri Cook Club. He couldn't wait.

Rita honestly did not know what to expect for the Tri Cook Club club audition and barely prepared for it. She is a big foodie, likes to enjoy different kinds of food, and has to admit she eats too much unintentionally from time to time. But when it comes to cooking, she honestly barely knew how to cook, besides some simple dishes her parents told her, such as some breakfast dishes such as sandwiches and porridge, as well as a few simple Chinese dishes such as tomato fried egg and fried green vegetables to illustrate her Chinese heritage. She was really joining the cooking club to learn, and she thought learning to cook is not only essential when she had to cook for herself, but also extremely fun and rewarding. Learning from Kim Aoki, the founder of the club, that the audition will be held in the classroom, Rita nervously went there after class, hoping that Kim did not blame her for barely know anything about cooking.

When she went into the room, she saw Kim already there waiting for the club member, along with Sirin, the young eagle with purple hair who founded the tea drinker`s club, and Edward, the strange young Badger she went on an imagined adventure with. "Hi, Kim, Sirin and Edward!" Rita waved to the three with a big smile, "So, we are all here for the Tri Cook Club, right? What we should do next? Just sit here and wait for other members to come?"

Taisia had been at Hogwarts for less than a week when she joined her first club, The Tri-Cook Club. She was more than a beginner cook but definitely not a professional. Today she would receive her 'star pin patch' which meant she could join her club.

They had to cook their own dish, completely from scratch, supplying everything needed. In her hands was the bag containing all her ingredients and the equipment. She had visited the house elves in the morning, and, much to their protest, she had come away with everything she needed.

They were told a few people would be sampling the dish, so she had brought extra jars. She wasn't sure how much time she would be getting, so she decided to cook up a big batch and focus on making the first jar then she could work on the rest at the same time.

Taisia entered the classroom where her audition would be held. A sign pointed her in the direction of three others, who must also be auditioning today. She gulped before heading over.

I hope I can make the dish as well as I usually do today.

September 4th. The school year had just began, it was Sunday. And Kim had scheduled a meeting for the TCC, his cooking club.
At 10:00 AM, one hour till the meeting was due to start, Bailey got up from doing the little homework she had, and started changing. A tight fitting white shirt, tan slacks that accented and complemented her long legs, a comfy but fashionable tan sweater paired well with the daisy ring she wore on her left hand and the brown bag she was about to pack with the essentials.
She packed a book, of course, and two notebooks- her journal and her cooking notebook. Some quill pens and regular muggle pens and pencils followed this, and then her wand. Next was her blue Ravenclaw reusable napkin.
Bailey took her water bottle and ran down to the kitchens real quick. She made a quick batch of mouth cleansing dishes- bananas, apple, cheese, crackers, bread, and pear all sliced and plates on a platter. Next Bailey made a pitcher of lemon- cucumber water, and then she just brought another pitcher of plain room - temperature water.
With her platter and pitchers in hand and bag over she shoulder bailey walked carefully to room 101.
Entering, she saw several people: @Sirin Lu, @Edward Edwards, @Rita Su, her little adopted hogwarts sister and dorm mate @ Taisia Elidine Stroudefielde and of course @Kim Sato.
Walking over to Kim, Bailey said hello to the other people. Seeing that Kim was dressed in black and white with a chefs coat and a black apron she smiled. Her smile was almost a smirk, but she was hoping that he wouldn’t see that. it’s so… Kim to be dressed like that she though, giggling internally. She loved platonically- because I know you’re reading this Colin and you’re thinking they’re a thing now her best friend so much, she was so happy she had met them.
Setting the foods down bailey gave Kim a hug as she usually did before saying “I brought a bunch of palette cleansing foods, and some water and lemon-cucumber water so we can cleans our pallets in between dishes- I hope you don’t mind. We definitely will not go hungry!”
Pinning her star pin to her sweater Bailey sat down behind her name tag, before pulling out her notebook and settling in. She was going to work on recipe ideas and designs while the contestants cooked or baked.

It was only three days after her horrific return to Hogwarts and Kim already managed to call a club meeting. Honestly, how did he manage to stay this active? Or perhaps he liked to keep himself busy when things got difficult like she did. It was hard to say but Eun-ji could totally see that being the case. Charles never mentioned anything too personal about his best friend but she was able to create some picture based on the bits of pieces he did give her from time to time. How many clubs was the boy even in charge of?

Truth be told, the Ravenclaw didn’t feel like going ANYWHERE today. She was still miserable and despite the physical injuries being gone now, she could somehow still feel them. Every move was properly exhausting to her. Not the kind of fatigue that simply needed a good night's rest. This was so much more and ever present. Luckily, her pristine clothes and masterfully done make-up always managed to cover all that. To anybody else, Eun-ji would be looking as calm and put together as ever. At least you’ll have some distraction and you love cooking, the girl reminded herself as she approached the classroom the first TCC meeting took place in. She was also not someone to avoid responsibilities and as a member of the club, she couldn’t just ignore the event. Not to mention it was Kim’s event. Putting on her 3 star Star-Pin Patch, the witch took a deep breath before finally entering the room.

“Morning little lion,” she greeted Kim. “Let me know if you need any help.” She patted his shoulder gently before directing her steps towards her designated seat. “Morning Bailey.” Eun-ji made sure to greet the other fixed member of the club and Kim’s friend as well. It was only polite she did so even if she didn’t feel particularly chatty at the moment. They would probably meet often so it made sense to make at least some effort to get along with her fellow Ravenclaw. “You brought all these?” Eun-ji was usually the kind of person who did the same but this time she simply didn’t have any energy to prepare something in advance. The only thing she brought in her bag was her wand and the first aid kit from her father. In addition to the usual stuff, it held some digestive health capsules and allergy medicine. The allergy medication wasn’t part of her first aid kit in the past but after meeting Kim, she asked her dad to add those too. Just in case. Sure, some may think it was useless thing to carry around the wizarding school but the Ravenclaw didn’t share said opinion. Even with all the healing magic, she felt a strange sense of security carrying that box with her at all times. After all, spells could fail you and what if she lost her wand somehow? No, she was never going to abandon the muggle medicine. It would always be equally as important to her as magic was.

Looking around, the witch didn't spot any other familiar faces. Honestly she was too out of it during the welcoming feast so she didn't pay any attention to the sorting ceremony. She was pretty sure she spotted the young girl with deep purple hair in their common room a few times but her name eluded her. Perhaps she would learn it soon...although it was hard to say whether she'd have the capacity to remember it today.

Shiawase wheeled into Room 101. She'd wanted to join the Tri Cook Club the year before, but it was her freshman year at Hogwarts and she found herself quickly falling behind. Schoolwork was much harder than she thought it'd be. Though admittedly, the much more difficult thing was finding her way around the school at all. Moving staircases . . . why? And so, she never found the time to audition, or really do much of anything regarding the various clubs at Hogwarts.

But this year would be different! She knew how things worked much better now, so she could find time she didn't have before! And she loved cooking food, loved eating food, loved everything about food! So trying to join this club was natural. She'd been cooking since she was five and loved everything about it. Years of experience were under her belt, and for her signature dish, she was going to do a recipe she'd really honed in on and perfected over the years. She couldn't possibly mess it up . . .

Although not every kitchen works the same way, and she's unfamiliar with this particular one.

It would be fine, though! Shiawase was nothing if not adaptable. And so, she wheeled forward, to the row of chairs labeled "Audition Contestants." There wasn't really a good place for her . . . she guessed she'd park at one of the ends of the row. As she mentally tried to calculate which one would be the better option, she turned around and saw all the people here. There was one person she recognized right away and she waved at her.

"Hey, Bailey! Fancy seeing you here!" she said enthusiastically. Then she realized where Bailey was sitting, and the pin she was wearing. Oh. Oh! She's gonna be one of the judges, isn't she? She smiled widely. The fact that she already had a friend in the club was a good sign! It meant the club would be much more fun! Assuming she passed her audition. Oh, no. What if she set out to make delicious food and screwed it up and then her friend had to eat it?! That'd be horrible! She took a deep breath. Panicking would make it so much harder to cook well. They'd taste her fear. So now it was time to focus up!

She turned her wheelchair a bit to look at the others who were auditioning.

"Hi! I'm Shiawase Mamori! I wish you all the best of luck! Whatever dish you make today, I bet it will be absolutely delicious! It's a pleasure to meet you all." She extended her arm upward for a handshake for whoever wanted to shake her hand. "This is going to be a great day!"

Time passed.

A few people showed up, not as many as he'd expected, which came as a surprise to him. But preferences changed.

Still, he'd hoped they would have had the mettle to stick it out, despite this. One didn't just fall out of love with cooking and baking when it came to food and drinks. How could they? But perhaps their studies had been suffering as a result from practicing too much, Kim could understand this. Part of him kind of felt disappointed but another part understood them if this reason was the case. There was always the hope that new students would show up too. It was the start of the year. Why not find some new blood now? Edward was the first to show up, followed by Taisia.

Bailey was next to show up, which wasn't surprising to him. After all, Bailey was someone who was in almost all the clubs he was part of. For most, they were leader and co-leader. Kim fully intended on making Bailey his co-leader here too at some point. But lately she'd been a bit busy and he didn't want to put more on her plate. Unless of course, she asked. Bailey came bearing edible gifts and gave her usual hug to him before taking a seat beside her nametag. "They look delicious but don't fill up with snacks right away!" Kim told Bailey with a little smirk.

"Welcome to the TCC everyone! Since this is our first meeting of the year, let me explain a few things to you all. Last year when this club was first developed, I held auditions. Some passed and some failed, which I fully expect will happen this year too. But don't worry, even if you fail the audition it doesn't mean you're out. It simply means you will need to try again. This can be done anytime after the initial auditions are over. It might sound intimidating but it really isn't bad at all."

"These auditions are different from most. The only way to fail it, is if you freeze up and can't make anything during your time. The purpose of the auditions is to show me what you can make as your signature dish. It has nothing to do with impressing me by making an outstanding chef-quality dish. I only want to know your current level. If you cook or bake me anything, you will pass." Kim told them. He glanced around the room, letting his eyes flicker over each face. This time he had a number order for them.

To make things easier.

"Please, come into the makeshift 'kitchen' and show me your signature dish." He told them.

All that remained was to find out what those who auditioned would make and see how good they were. Once their dishes were done, he'd come over and sample them to make a decision as to how many stars they each would get.

Kim gets the auditions underway for those who showed up to the first meeting of the year!
notes:
For the sake of convenience, all auditions will take place in this thread. Note that each audition will take place at a different time, as everyone gets their own shot at the makeshift 'kitchen'. But to speed things along, you can all post at once in the thread. However, when writing make sure you remember that you are not sharing the 'kitchen' with other members, as each audition takes place separately. Once your audition is over, you will receive an owl with your results.

When writing your audition, please remember not to state how your creation came out in the end.
This will be decided by Tatsu/Kim when they are judging your audition!

Sirin Liu and Rita Su are ignored for now because Sirin is deactivating and Rita won't be around until late January.
Remember, Kim's last name that he gives out is Aoki not Sato.

Thorn couldn't help but skip along the corridor to the auditions. She was super excited to meet new people and be able to eat lots of food. She hadn't quite decided what to make but she was leaning towards the Garlic Herb Butter Roast chicken with potato on the side. Her mouth watered just thinking about it. Her mother had taught her how to make it before her passing and it had been her favorite dish ever since.

Thorn skipped into the room "Hi Bailey, Hi Kim" She said waving enthusiastically. Sh took a quick look at her opponents. There was a girl in a wheelchair wishing everyone luck. She narrowed her eyes in thought "where had she seen this girl before" Then it clicked the Slytherin common room. "It was awfully nice of her to wish the other people good luck" she thought. She didn't much care for the other houses especially when there was competition involved. But that was all about to change. She stood awkwardly off to the side of the group patiently waiting her turn. She looked at her feet until she was called. "Thorn Cullen" someone called she assumed it was Kim.

She shuffled her way to the makeshift kitchen. "Uhm...this a meal my mother taught me as a child before she passed away." Kim came forward and lit the oven as she did not know the the spell herself. She set to work washing and dicing potatoes, she seasoned the chicken with her butter, garlic, herb spread. Before popping the chicken and the potatoes in the oven. About 1h and 2o minutes later the meal was done. She carefully decorated the plate before setting the food carefully on it. She picked up the dish before walking towards the judge table and placing it down infront of them along with several spare dishes so they could all have their own plate.

If you can't play the good guy, sometimes you've got to play the villain.
