CL A Friendly Game of Hide-and-Seek

So many new people... my mind said. I guessed that Sirin's sign had attracted a lot of attention! A boy with orange hair came after me. I recognized him from the Tea Drinkers meeting, but I didn't know his name. He said that he had brought food, and the food he had brought sounded absolutely delicious. That's when Sirin spoke. She said that the winner got a fruitcake! To be honest, I'm one of the few people I know who actually like fruitcakes. "A fruitcake? That sounds great!" After that, another girl came. She looked to be a first-year, like me. She introduced herself as Hannah. "Hi, Hannah!" I greeted her. Rita introduced us to Hannah. Apparently, the boy's name was Kim, and the older Ravenclaw's name was Bailey. Then, a girl with short brown hair came over. Her name was Kayla, and she was a first-year Hufflepuff, like me! "Nice to meet you, Kayla!" I said. I was wondering when we were going to start. Soon, I hoped. I couldn't wait to get the game started. Not only was there food involved, but this could also be a chance for me to meet new people. It's called, "connecting through fun and games". At least, that's my "official name for it.

"It was Sirin who decided to start the game, and she just left? What was going on here? So, does she have something else to do? But why did she start the game if she has something else to do? I am genuinely confused by all of this. Could anyone provide an explanation to why Sirin left?" Rita was actually quite confused when Kim suddenly announced that Sirin, the starter of the game, decided to leave the game and the game was suddenly started and Rita herself became one of the hiders, so she murmured to herself, "And the suddenly the game starts, and we are all hiders and Aurora is the seeker? Things are starting too quick! Anyway, let me find a place to hide first, before Roro could find me when she finishes the countdown!"

"OK, where should I hide?" Rita thought while beginning to look around the Outdoor Club Area, "Oh, there are tons of trees here, maybe I should hide behind one of those trees and stay silent. Hopefully Roro won`t find me if I hide behind one of those trees! Let me try to hide behind it!" Thinking about it, Rita quickly ran and hid behind one of the green trees, waiting for Aurora to finish her countdown and start finding. "Hopefully I am not the first one Roro found! I know I am not very good at hiding but let me see what happens when Roro started finding!" The Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair thought when she was waiting quietly behind one of the trees in the Outdoor Club Area.

When I found out I was the seeker, I did a double take to make sure I heard right. Wait, what? I wasn't about to complain, but still, this was depressing. I was told to close my eyes and count to 100. So I did. "1...2...3...4...5..." I kept my ears open to see, no, listen for the sound of footsteps, maybe, so I could tell which direction people went. "96...97...98...99...100! Ready or not, here I come!" It wasn't obvious at first that there were people hiding, but instead of running around and checking everywhere, I stopped and didn't move a muscle. I was listening for the sound of breathing. Strange as this may sound, I like to think of it as a form of misdirection. Might not be the same for others, though, for I couldn't hear a thing. So, as quietly as I could, I took a step toward the trees. I think that stealth is the way to go as a seeker, though I hoped that it would work this time. I carefully tiptoed toward one of the trees, hoping that the grass crunching under my feet was a dead giveaway. Carefully, I peeked behind the first tree I saw.

Sirin had to leave suddenly, and Kim took over the game. Bailey was worried about the younger Ravenclaw, but there was not much she could currently do. Rita started asking about why Sirin left, and Bailey said simply “It really is none of our business, and we should just hope and it’s that she is ok. I am sure she will be fine, but today is just not her day.”
It was an answer that didn’t really give an answer, but should satisfy Rita.
Then Bailey was distracted, this time by Puffie’s surprise appearance. Bailey smiled as Kim spoke to the little puffball, saying that he would be on Kim’s team.
They drew papers, and Bailey was a hider. As so, Bailey ran away to go hide.
where should I go where should I hide? Bailey thought, repeating the line over and over in her head.
Bailey found a good hiding spot, in a small grove of trees. Bailey was in the middle, crouching down. She heard Aurora counting up, and then reach a hindered. Bailey held her breath as Rora starter her search, crossing her fingers that she would not be the first found.
this shouldn’t be hard right… wait can we use magic? I hope not.. that might give us away.. surely thats not cheating , right?

It was definitely not anyone’s business to why Sirin, the creator of the game had left. That left Hannah thinking

They drew papers and Hannah grabbed a paper that said she was a hider. The prize would be a delicious fruitcake. I better go find a good hiding spot so I can win the game.

Anyway, Aurora started counting. She had to find a good hiding spot.

Hannah looked around for a good spot but most of them were already taken. For example, Bailey was hiding in a small grove of trees. Maybe she could find a tree and hide behind it? Nah, too obvious. she tried to keep quiet, and slow her breathing.

Hannah took off and hid in a bush, sure the torns were spiky, but her light blue sweater kept her protected. And to keep her legs protected, her black leggings that were almost small.

Ro started looking for everyone, the Hufflepuff had finished counting. The first year just observed. Not. Making. One. Sound.

The Hufflepuff looked behind a tree, and Hannah wondered if anyone was behind it, there probably wasn’t, or was there?

A squirrel wondered by and made a loud sound to distract anyone. Hannah was too carried away and breathed loudly again. Oops. she slowed her breath again, thinking no one had heard.

They probably hadn’t right? She was panicking more than ever, then her palms started sweating, she was really nervous.

And if she did win, oh boy, She wouldn’t let anyone near that fruitcake, even if she didn’t like fruitcakes.

Kayla wanted to follow after the Ravenclaw as soon as Kim announced she had left. A million thoughts raced through her head as she tried to think of why Sirin left.
"Was Sirin okay? Was she not feeling well? Did she receive horrible news? Did she just not want to be ther anymore?"
Kayla didn't know, but she was curious. Rita didn't look too happy either, but it wasn't a sad kind of not-too-happy-, it was confusion with a hint of anger. Just a hint. Kayla could emphasize. But that hint was more sadness than anger. In the midest of her thoughts, she came up with five reasons why she came to the place to begin with:
One, Sirin.
Two, fun.
Three, Sirin.
Four, fruitcake.
Five, Sirin.
It wasn't a complete list...but it was five whole reasons!
"I hope she's okay," Kayla said, looking past Kim to see if she could spot her friend.

But her mind pushed Sirin to the other side of her brain once Kim started explaining the game. In the middle of it, Kayla heard a familiar squeak. The pygmy puff, Puffie! Kayla swore, Kim moved everywhere with the pink furball. She couldn't name a single time she had seen him without it.
But back to the game.
Kim tore up some paper which he had written on and buried them into the puffs fur. He explained they all had to come forward, pick a paper and see what was written to determine their role in the game. Kayla moved forward to pick a paper as he spoke. As she took one, she ran a hand of the puff and was surprised by the soft texture. Puffie was better groomed than Squeaky! Kayla decided not to bring that up to her ferret when she went to go back to the common room.
Hider, the paper said. Kayla let out a , "yes!" as she read this. She was going to be a hider, game on.
As Aurora started counting, Kayla scanned the areas quickly. Trees, bush, grass. Of course, Kayla darted for the nearest but biggest tree she could find.
Instead of hiding behind it, she started scaling the tree. She grabbed a branch and pulled herself up onto a more stable one, hidden in the leaves. She took in a quiet breath as she could barely see the Hufflepuff counting some feet away.
"Who's a strong Hufflepuff? I am!" she thought proudly.

Moderation Post Round I

After each and every participant took a slip from Puffie's pink fur, their roles were all set and the game could begin. Kim gave instructions again, just to make sure they understood and then started the game off with a clap of his hands. The seeker would close their eyes and start to count down from 100. When they reached 0 they would open their eyes and go off to look for the hiders. Kim picked up the fruitcake and put it down closer to the middle of the picnic blanket he'd placed down earlier. He didn't want the bugs and other critters crawling all over the tasty prize.

Kim let his blue eyes flicker around as all four girls dashed off to choose a hiding spot while the seeker counted down. He wasn't entirely certain why Sirin had left but she'd said something unexpected had come up and had to go. All the girls had expressed confusion over what had just happened but Kim would let them know what Sirin had told him afterward. For now, the game should happen. Before the fruitcake got dried out or the birds and bugs started to eat it. There would be time to talk later. Once a winner was chosen! Kim glanced around as the girls hid from sight.

Rita had chosen a simple place. She had hidden behind one of the many trees in the outdoor club area. There were quite a few of them and although it wasn't quite a forest or wood, there were more trees here than there were in many of the other places. Perhaps Rita would get lucky with her choice. It all depended upon what direction Aurora would choose to head over to first. Luck seemed to be with Rita as the seeker headed off in Kayla Realma's direction. Kayla had chosen to hide up a tree. A very good hiding place. She was perfectly hidden within the leaves.

Perhaps this was why the seeker passed by beneath her without seeing her at all. The seeker had first tried to look behind a nearby tree but had seen no one there. So she had moved on. Next up was Bailey Glade, who had chosen to hide in a small grove of trees. She was able to completely conceal herself by crouching down into the middle of the area. The seeker would come over and look through the grove but would not be able to find anyone there. Moving on, Aurora Griffith, otherwise known as the seeker in this game, would head for a small clump of suspicious bushes.

They weren't really suspicious but everything was suspicious when it came to a hide-and-seek game. Moving along, the seeker would search the bushes but find nothing at first, until a soft little intake of breath was heard a few seconds later. The seeker would investigate further and eventually find Hannah Blossom hiding in the bushes there. Aurora had finally found one of the four hiders! She would move on to another area, trying to find someone else but eventually time ran out. Fifteen minutes to search was the time limit, or it could have gone on for eternity.

Rita Su, Bailey Glade and Kayla Realma were the only hiders who had made it through round one. Hannah Blossom had been found by the seeker, Aurora Griffith. Kim clapped his hands together and raised his voice. "Round one is over! Please come out of your hiding spots and gather around me." Once they'd done so, he would speak again. "Our seeker has found one hider but still hasn't found the others. Round two will start now. Please find new hiding places! Begin!" Kim said and nodded for Aurora to start counting down.....

He looked over at Hannah. Now that she was out of the running, Kim had someone to talk to! "So who do you think will win? The seeker or the hiders? Also, who do you think the seeker will find first?" He asked.

Kim was curious to know what her opinions might be on this particular matter.

1. If you have not yet been found by the seeker, you have 7 days to write your posts.
2. If you don't post in the allotted time frame, you will be found by the seeker.
3. Your posts should be about finding a new hiding spot and hiding from the seeker.
4. Posts must be 200 min word count because it's taking place on RP boards. Only the official dueling sport has a 50 min word count, it doesn't apply to anyone else.

It was over. She had been found.

Besides, game over for her, she out of the game.

A feeling of angriness filled her body. Then she breathed slowly and now, all was left to do was observe the hiders. And the seeker.

Kim looked over at Hannah, he had asked who she thought would win. ”Look, in my opinion, Kayla started of strong, I think she’ll win. she paused for a moment “What about you? Who do you think will win?” she grinned.

Then she looked over at Aurora, she was still counting. Looking at her reminded her of the times when she was back home, in Glasgow. Playing hide and seek with her neighbors, Stella and James. James was always the seeker, and he always found the girls, that’s because they always hid in the same place.

She turned to the area where the hiders could hide. The girl wondered where they were hidden.

She looked at the fruitcake, her parents never made fruitcake, only at the Christmas Ball, but her mother wasn’t the one to make it, it was a friend of hers who always brought it. What about a House Elf? The Blossoms believed that they deserved to be free. At least that’s what they told her.

Then she looked at Kim, waiting for his response. Her face wasn’t grinning, but turning to a more neutral expression.

I looked behind a tree to find nothing there, of course, though I guessed that everybody needed to be more concealed in order not to be found. Yeah, that made the most sense! So, naturally, I searched in a more sheltered area. Well, what do you know! A very suspicious and obvious hiding spot! Hello there, you mysterious-looking clump of bushes...I searched in the bushes until at last, I found Hannah. "AHA!" I found you! I'm so sorry that you got out, Hannah, but, you know..." I looked over at the fruitcake. But even if I didn't get the fruitcake, it was alright, at least I had fun...it was announced that Round Two was over. Once all had been said that Hannah had been found but not everybody else, I started to count to 100 again. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6..." by the time I got to 100, I didn't see anyone immediately with a single sweeping glance of the Outdoor Club Area, but of course I wouldn't. Again, I stopped and listened for the sounds of breathing, or any other giveaway. Too bad I didn't have super senses, that would have been very helpful...I didn't know if stopping and listening had worked last round, but who knows, maybe it might work in this one...?
