Things got quieter at Hogwarts, calmer than they had been in the eventful first months. With the ball, the first task, duels and races being over, Opeila could feel herself calm down a little, only reminded that things were unlikely to be over by the round charm lying on her chest, tucked safely under her top and warmed by her skin.
The one month she had lost, really confused her routine though. There was much stuff for her to catch up on and the young Slytherin was really not used to not being on top of everything anymore. It was something she had taken much care of before, feeling like it was her responsibility as an upperclassman and prefect to set a good example. And as long as she didn't allow herself to miss anything or take a break from her routing, she managed it all relatively well without getting too stressed too.
But who could have seen the coma coming? Opeila certainly not or she would have asked someone to write some notes for her. Luckily there were some classmates who would let her look at theirs and soon she was at least partly caught up again. There were only a few spells now she needed to practice, but spellcasting itself had never been much of a difficulty to her, so hopefully that would be done rather quickly.
Lunchtime had become some kind of peaceful haven, one where she would forbid herself to try and wrap her mind around things. Often she tried to join people's chatting, keep herself occupied or allowed her cat to join her- something she had never done before. Loras used to be banished from the Great Hall and temporarily from the library too.
Today he was with her too, yellow eyes following every bite Opeila took. Not that she was cruel, she had made sure to feed her pet before going to the Great Hall, his looks seemed to be pure curiosity rather than calculations if he could attack her fork.
After having finished her lunch, Opeila would take a look at some of the candy on the table that was probably meant to be an option for dessert.
While still trying to make up her mind, another Slytherin caught her eye- Colin, one of her racers- opening a chocolate frog that immediately tried to run- well, jump- for it. She was just about to chuckle at the innocent mistake, when she saw the boy catch the chocolate frog with his mouth. Opeila's eyes widened with impression. That was one cool move! She had never even seen anyone do that before, usually the enchanted frogs were much to quick and quite frankly, Opeila didn't eat them too often.
A memory forced itself into her mind. First year, @Percival Rainwood and her on their last ever date, on the Quidditch Stands. While she had still tried to get over the fact that they moved like real frogs, he had bitten the head right off, leaving Opeila grossed out and speechless for a few seconds.
She didn't feel the same way now, the horrors she had seen in the last years certainly outweighed moving candy and made her less squeamish.
The fourth year grabbed a chocolate frog too now, taking a deep breath before opening it. Couldn't be so difficult right? Well- she hadn't taken her cat into calculation. Still food was fine, but moving food seemed like too much of a temptation to Loras. As the frog jumped, Opeila felt something at her side, then claws digging into her shoulder, grazing her skin through her jumper and the moment of fright was enough for the frog to get away, jumping down the Slytherin table, away from her, past other students.
"Hey Colin!", she would call out while trying to pull her cat's claws out of her jumper, "Can you do that again? How did you catch that frog?"

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | It was Saturday, November 5th. Kim was sporting a new hair color again since it was near the start of a new month and this time it was red. He normally would have been having lunch with a small group of people he considered to be friends. But last month something unexpected had happened and things had come crashing down around him. He still couldn't believe or accept it and what was worse he couldn't tell anyone either. Not right now. Not when he had promised her not to do so. It had been her last request before leaving the place. Kim acted on the outside as if everything was fine, everything was normal and nothing was wrong with him. He'd thrown himself into homework, studies and his clubs. Sketching, music and food were three other things that took his mind off what was bothering him. Ever since October 8th, he'd been slowly withdrawing back into himself again. It hadn't been very noticeable unless one happened to be obsessed with him. And Kim thought he was doing a fairly good job at being 'normal' when it came to others. But the fact of the matter was it was still bothering him deep inside and he still wasn't sure how to deal with it. Therefore, he internalized it and didn't face it. A sigh escaped his lips as the boy sat the very edge of the table. The table he thought was the Gryffindor one. But in reality was actually the Slytherin table. However, Kim was too lost in his thoughts to realize this at the time. He mechanically took small bites of food and placed it in his mouth, chewing like a robot. Kim's blue eyes seemed almost glazed over as he pondered over things. Thankfully, Opeila's cat was nowhere near him right now, or else he'd have gotten a nasty shock of what could have been very similar to a Curse of the Bogies. Puffie was upstairs in his room. Right now, Kim had been wanting to be alone for awhile. Thus, he hadn't brought his pet down with him to the great hall. A chocolate frog bounced down the table, going directly past him. Instinctively, Kim reached out. The redhead's fingers closed around one of the frog's legs and stopped its forward momentum. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────
actions: Kim takes a seat at the Slytherin table by accident, as he's a little distracted, and starts to eat. notes: I'm assuming I can say Kim took a seat that wasn't near Opeila, right? If not, let me know and I'll edit! Also since you wrote that the chocolate frog hopped away from Opeila and down past some students, can I say that Kim caught it? I can edit if you want me to say it passed, just let me know! It had been a brisk morning for a long run and Colin had lots to think about before settling into the library for some study before breakfast. Always on his mind was Clair, of course! As he ran, his face and chest reddened as he thought about what happened at the ball! And he was still excited about their first broom race of the year, and the Hexiwizard Tournament, and watching his first quidditch game! And Sophia. Colin was really becoming worried. He hadn't seen her since they kissed at the bottle spinning game. He'd heard rumours, and though part of him knew not to put much faith in rumours . . . Still, rumours often sprung from a kernel of truth, and Colin really was worried that something terrible had happened to his friend.
"Whoof!" It had been a good run all the way up the high meadows. Colin got up to the stone outcropping. The place he and AngelFyre shared as a sacred space. Last time he was up here, he roared Liam's name. Liam was also on his mind, and Colin knew he would forever be. It had been two months since his twin died. Clair and AngelFyre really helped him through the hardest moments, and he loved them both for it! He considered AngelFyre his sister, and had since last year. But Clair? Colin laughed! That girl he would never consider to be a sister!
The Sun was just beginning to peek over the mountains beyond Hogwarts. As she cast her first rays over the place, he stood up on the rock and took a deep breath. Cupping his hands around his mouth, he howled down towards the distant castle: "CLAAAAIIIIRRRR!!!! OWOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Colin laughed again. "Ye're a silly lad, Colin McCoire! She can't hear us from all the way up here! Anyway, it's just aboot 7:30! She's probably asleep! Or in the library!"
Colin was sad that he didn't find Clair in the library after breakfast, but at least he got his studying done and had time left for drawing another picture of --- dare he say his girl? --- in his sketch book. He could feel his face turning hot and red at the very thought of, well, belonging to a girl. He could feel the tears forming in his eyes. It was all he ever really wanted --- a girl to love him and to be loved by him. He hoped that he wasn't wrong in thinking that Clair was really the one!
And before he even realised it, Colin had found that his stomach and his feet and transported him to the great hall for lunch! He didn't even really pay that much attention to what he was eating. He did eventually come back to the waking world of Hogwarts once Irina sat down across from him. She was one of the girls that was in the Snek Squad with him. When he finished his meat and cheese plate, Colin picked out a couple chocolate frogs from the platter on the table. "So, Rina, are you ready for the Snek Squad's first real adventure? I know Jannette's gonna die when she sees what's in store!"
He took up one of the frog boxes. "Rin! Watch this!" Colin crouched on the heavy wooden bench, smirked at Irina and stared intently at the brightly decorated box. He gave the edge of the cardboard container a flick with his finger and it popped open! Colin's eyes widened! Colin leapt! The frog leapt! And, much to the frog's obvious surprise and dismay, caught the chocolate in his teeth!
"Hey Colin!"
Colin almost dropped the frog as The Voice called out to him. There were three voices in all of Hogwarts that Colin would never ignore: one was Clair --- of course! If that girl ever called out to him, he'd go to her immediately! Another was his racing captain's. And a third was a Prefect. This voice ticked two of those boxes and Colin's head turned about in surprise. Captain Opeila was looking his way! For a slight fraction of a second, he thought it might be Prefect Winters giving him a detention for exploring the castle by moonlight!
She was holding her kitty cat! Colin smiled. He liked cats! Well, no, it looked more like she was trying to extricate cat from her jumper "Can you do that again? How did you catch that frog?"
Colin turned towards Irina in surprise. "Cap --- Um. Y---You want me to show you how to catch a frog!?" Gosh. Apart from racing, Colin's experiences with older students were largely non existent. They were either terrifying or else, just weird! But here was one --- asking for his help! "Um. Sure!" He nodded towards Irina and grabbed up a bunch of frogs. "Wanna join, sis?" He got up onto the bench again and walked the short distance down towards where Opeila was sitting.
It was then he noticed that, of all people, Kim Aoki was sitting at the Slytherin table! "Heyo Kim! I always thought you were a Slytherin at heart!!"

There's a lot of things passing through Irina's mind right now...She's missing home, her parents, watching games with her grandpa, mess up at her grandma's kitchen while helping her making delicious cakes and desserts...but specially she was missing Rita, her cousin. So when she woke up that morning first thing she made was writing her a letter,
After writing it, Irina went to the owlery to sent her letter to Rita. With that done, she felt more relieved and her mood improved quite a bit! She took a run then, towards the Great Hall, she hadn't eaten anything yet after breakfast so she was starting to feel a little dizzy with the lack of sugar in her system. When arrived, she immediately felt that familiar scent of green leafs and rain drops, Colin no doubt, was already at the Slytherin's table having his lunch. When she reached the large wooden table, she noticed that Opeila Winters was already there too. The fourth year Prefect that she had met at her first day at Hogwarts, she was one of the people that saluted them and introduced herself as the captain of the Slytherin broom racing team. She was quietly seated enjoying her lunch with her tabby cat, Irina didn't knew students were allowed to have their pets with them at meals time... anyways, that really didn't bothered her at all! Even if she doesn't want a pet, doesn't mean she doesn't love animals. The other student already seated there, was one she saw at the Spooky Party, he was the one wearing that impressive outfit of Jack from one of her favorite movies, "The Nightmare Before Christmas". He seemed to be lost in his thoughts so Irina didn't wanted to bother him. Instead, she took her place sitting across from her friend, "Hi Colin!", she greeted smiling at the boy.Dear Rita,
How have you been? How's Beauxbatons?
Hogwarts is even better then what my dad used told us! But I'm not a Ravenclaw like him, I'm a Slytherin! Better, I also prefer green to blue, it looks better with my eyes color you see?
I'm enjoying loads with my new friends, we call ourselves the "Snek Squad", it's a cool name don't you think?
Don't tell our parents, but we managed to forged a fake permission to Hogsmeade, so when we went there I promise to send you some sweets from Honeydukes next time!

"So, Rina, are you ready for the Snek Squad's first real adventure? I know Jannette's gonna die when she sees what's in store!", he said to her, while picking one of the choco frogs. "Of course I'm ready! I already promised my cousin to send her some sweets in the next letter!" she answered the boy with a cheeky smile, "Oh Jannette is going to have the time of her life there!" she laughed then "imagine her surrounded by all those goodies, getting lost and drowning in it!". Then...she watch Colin make a number leaping and catching the chocolate frog with his teeth, "You're such an exhibitionist Colin McCoire!" she said joyfully while making a mocking applause to him.
"Hey Colin!", she heard the voice came from her left, it was Opeila. Colin looked startled at hearing her call. It was interesting to see that reaction coming from her friend, Opeila is not that scary, in fact she thought of her has a really friendly Prefect...what has he been up to? she thought suspiciously while smirking at him.
"Can you do that again? How did you catch that frog?", the brunette girl asked him. Colin then looked at Irina and seemed surprised with Pei's question. She realized then, that possibly he was showing some skill that could revel something else to Opeila. Irina returned Colin's gaze with wide eyes. "Cap --- Um. Y---You want me to show you how to catch a frog!? Um. Sure!" the boy said a little stunned, he was definitely not expecting that. "Wanna join, sis?", he then asked Irina grabbing a handful of chocolate frogs' packages. Irina felt her heart melt a little, that was the first time she heard her friend call her "sis". She was happy to know that her friend cared for her as much as she cared for him, "Yes I will brother!" she said excitedly with a wide smile plastered on her face, while jumping from her sit and going after Colin towards the older Slytherin girl. "Hi! Opeila...isn't it? I'm Irina, don't think we've introduced ourselves yet!" she greeted siting across from the girl.
"Heyo Kim! I always thought you were a Slytherin at heart!!" she heard Colin said to the red-haired boy, so his name is Kim and..."His not a Slytherin?" she asked looking at Colin, then turned her gaze to the boy seated at her right "I'm sorry, didn't meant to be rude, just surprised! Hi Kim, I'm Irina!", she presented herself with a small wave and smiling at the quite boy.

Tesla didn't want to admit it, but she could get really lonely on the weekend, especially near the full moon. Sure she had her roommates, and she even considered Rita and Isadora good friends, but it wasn't the same as the hustle and bustle of a truly energized trouble-maker. To be fair she only knew of Colin to fit that description, but she hadn't seen him all that recently. It was lunchtime, and she figured her fellow wolf would follow his stomach to the Great Hall if he hadn't followed it out to the grounds to catch more squirrels, so she wandered that way herself to see if she couldn't find him.Outfit: Yellow Wool sweater, loose overalls, yellow sneakers, matching yellow bandana on hair and right wrist
She walked and she glanced around, breathing in the smells of delicious food and trying to spot his familiar hair amongst the reasonably crowded lunchtime tables. She was about to give up and wander to the Hufflepuff table to look for someone else she recognized, when she heard a girl call his name, and spotted him and a handful of frogs (chocolate, thankfully), as well as another student move to sit with a red-haired boy and presumably the Slytherin that had called his name. She'd never say no to chocolate or to meeting new people, and she immediately set off to join him at the table. She caught the tail end of some introductions. Irina, Opeila, and Kim, and she invited herself into the group sitting there, plopping onto the bench next to Colin.
"Hiya Colin! Long time no see! I was hoping to catch you today to say hi," Tes turned her attention to the other three students, waving a bit sheepishly and smiling brightly, "I'm Tes! I'm a Hufflepuff, so I hope you all don't mind me joining you." She glanced at the pile of chocolate frogs, hopeful that Colin was planning to share, or that one might end up hopping her way so she could grab it.

If was the noon of Nov 5th, and Rita was just walking into the great hall us usual to grab some food for lunch to fill her empty stomach after a morning`s busy lessons when she saw some chocolate frogs popping from the big lunch table and a few students surrounding a taller and older girl with brown hair and green eyes wearing Slytherin clothes and a prefect badge who was trying to catch some chocolate frogs she opened. Rita may had seen that girl before, but she honestly did not know her name. Luckily, Rita was familiar with the group surrounding the Slytherin girl, Kim and Colin, whom she had seen in multiple occasions, and Irina and Tesla, two of her friends. Rita decided to walk up to them and ask them if she could help.
"Hi, you all! How are you days going so far? I hope you all had a great morning!" Rita waved to the group of wizards and turned her face to the Slytherin girl with a friendly smile, "I think I`ve seen you before, but I don`t think I know you. Honestly, you are the only one I don`t know in the group. My name is Rita, Second Year Hufflepuff. I saw your chocolate frogs popping everywhere in the lunch table, so I wonder if I can try to help you catch some with them? Hopefully you don`t mind that!" After saying that, Rita reached out her arms, and tried to help the girl catch the slippery chocolate frogs.

The frog didn't get far. Only a few jumps further it would be caught by another student, a bit younger than Opeila. That wasn't a Slytherin, but she knew him too- Kim, a second year Gryffindor. With a smile she waved at him. "Nice catch!"
If Opeila had to guess, she would say that her addressing Colin gave the younger boy a bit of a fright. Why though? Was she that scary? She did talk to him all the time during racing training, right? And she had never even given him detention or anything. Or was there a reason for him to be scared? Well, if that was the case, lucky him. Opeila was not going to look into a case that she didn't catch. After all, every detention the fourth year gave ate away her own free time.
Anyway, the younger Slytherin ended up agreeing to show Opeila how he caught chocolate frogs like that and also invited a girl that she recognized as one of the first years she led to the girls' dorms on the first evening. "Hi Irina! Yes, Opeila is right."
It didn't stay with the little group they were now, two more younger students, who definitely weren't Slytherins, came over to join them. Opeila greeted both of them with a smile and told them her name, not minding at all. It was always nice to see groups forming with people from different houses. They were after all meant to bring students closer to others with similar mindsets, but not to separate them entirely from others, right?
Loras however seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the kids around him. He was not that used to being around younger children anymore, Opeila was usually hanging out with her classmates who were of similar age.

Colin was a little startled by the attention, and the loss of one froggo. He turned a little red, having just made such a brilliant impression in front of Opeila. Grr. Oh well, at least Kim got it! He nodded at Rita and gave her a little smirk. He'd seen her around several times, not least of which skulking around in the deep places of Hogwarts!
He turned at Tes's greeting, happy to see the girl there. She down right next to him and he gave her a toothy grin before leaning in to give her a quick nose doop. Probably no one but a fellow wolf would understand that as a greeting! "Hey sis! Alright, I'm gonna get this froggo for sure!"
At least I hope I'm gonna get this froggo, Colin thought. But I wonder why Ope wants me to show her!? Well, there was nothing for it but to have another go!
He selected a chocolate frog box and laid it carefully before him on the wooden table. He looked up at Opeila to make sure she was watching. Then he shook himself like a dog and took a deep breath to settled himself down. He crouched up on the wooden bench and shifted his focus to the brightly coloured box before him.
Colin's breathing slowed, and time slowed with it. The sounds of the great hall around him subsided until all he could hear was his own breathing. Colin blinked. Slowly. Focusing intently on the box, his left hand reached out towards it. His feet and his legs tensed as he balanced on the polished wood.
His body began to lean forward slightly. The entire universe was Colin and the frog waiting inside the box. His fingertip neared the object, and his nostrils flared. His nose was filled with scents of chocolate and students, some familiar some unfamiliar. And one --- most curious, he could not place. He put the thought out of his mind as his body prepared to leap.
His finger touched the cardboard, popping it open!
Time stopped completely as the lid opened to reveal a chocolate frog.
One good leap, they said, maybe two.
Colin's eyes fixated on the frog's hind legs. He'd studied them in minute detail and he awaited the telltale motion within the enchanted treat's toes. Colin's body leaned slightly, ready to match the frog's flight path.
Colin's lips parted slightly as his mouth began to open.
This frog was only going to get one leap!
And then everything happened all at once: Colin's legs extended and he leapt, his left pushing off a little harder than his right! The frog leapt at the same time! It leapt straight for Opeila! But Colin was quicker! He was already in the air. The frog turned its head slightly. The look of dismay in its chocolately sweet eyes was precious to Colin!
The frog ascended to the zenith of its jump and Colin's teeth closed in fast! SNICK!!
The only sounds to be heard were the soft clack of Colin's teeth upon the chocolate frog's body, and the soft thumps of first his hands and then his feet as he landed, crouching like wild hunting creature, face to face with Opeila.
The world flooded back in around Colin and he heard people talking and laughing and chatting around him.
He gave his Prefect a chocolatey smirk before turning and hopping off the table. Colin sat back down next to Tes and Rina. He bit through the frog and smiled happily at the chocolately goodness! He looked from one to the other and said: "Now that, lassies, is how you catch a chocofrog!"

Fun, this is going to be fun, hilarious actually, seeing how Colin will teach Opeila how to catch a chocolate frog. Will she try to do the same after? Irina almost snorted imagining the older Slytherin on top of the bench and trying to catch a froggie with her teeth. She didn’t looked like the type of person to act that silly, maybe because she was no longer an eleven or twelve year old or maybe the fact that she was wearing her Prefect badge, “Hi Irina! Yes, Opeila is right." She replied to Irina's previous greeting.
No longer after, something familiar hit her senses, like a small punch on her stomach, a tendril of nervousness that she couldn’t figure out its origin at first. But then, she saw a girl, her hair looked like Colin’s except it was shorter. She had never seen that girl before, but she seemed so familiar it was unnerving. Although, the energy that came from her, contrasted with the awareness she gave to Irina’s primal instincts. She was wearing a timid and bright smile when she introduced her self, first to Colin, then to all the others present there, "I'm Tes! I'm a Hufflepuff, so I hope you all don't mind me joining you." Colin turned to her, grinning widely at seeing the young badger. When she seated down next to him he poked her with his nose in a very distinct way of greeting, "Hey sis! Alright, I'm gonna get this froggo for sure!" He said to her. Irina’s apprehensiveness increased at seeing that gesture and hearing Colin call the girl “sis” like he had called her moments ago. Her senses almost went wild there…why was she feeling like that? Like…fear. Was it fear? Jealousy? It felt like she was being exposed somehow…
But her rational side took over her, thankfully. Why would she be feeling like that? It didn’t make any sense! She was able to swallow down her irrational feelings then, before answering to the cheerful girl, trying to match her smile, “Nice to meet you Tes! I’m Irina, first year Slytherin, you can call me Rina!” She was being nice, but her own voice sounded…weird to her ears.
Was when another Hufflepuff arrived to the green and silver table, this time she knew the girl, was her friend Rita Su. Irina waved back to her, “Hey Riri!” She answered with a honest and amused smile, “We’re doing great! How about you? We’re just about to watch Colin spectacularly grab a chocolate frog!” She finished dramatically with a small laugh.
Her smile got suspended then, between an expression of amusement, surprise and awareness. With narrowed eyes and feeling suspicious she saw Colin set himself in a hunter position towards the harmless chocolate frog package on the table. Like a real predator watching and evaluating his prey. His moves were slow but precise, like he had done that a million times before. She knew what he was doing, she knew what he was going to do next…but why, and how was her friend so familiar with it was what causing her restlessness. But then the frog was released and in a simultaneous leap, Colin jumped to it, making a perfect catch with his teeth and landing face to face with Opeila. The now smiling boy seemed to be quite proud of his performance, seating between her and Tes, “That was…pretty awesome brother!” She replied to him with a smile, trying to see in his eyes the answers to the so many doubts now flooding her thoughts.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Chatter surrounded him. Like always, the Great Hall was filled with loud voices, talking about this or that, which all blurred together. Kim tuned it out and mechanically kept eating what was currently on his plate. He barely heard Colin's greeting but did recognize his name being said by someone. Even though he hadn't been paying much attention, whenever someone said his name, he automatically focused on them. It took a few seconds for him to register who it was. But when he did, the redhead blinked, wondering what Colin was doing at the Gryffindor table. Most of the time he tended to stay at his own. An unfamiliar face came into his line of vision soon after and his eyes lingered on the girl. A girl with long purple hair (I'm assuming she has purple hair now?) spoke to him, introducing herself. Irina. It was around this time that Kim noticed that not only Colin was there but Opeila too. A Slytherin prefect at the Gryffindor table? Two other Slytherins also present? As Kim's blue gaze swept down the long table, he noticed there were a ton of green robes and then abruptly came to the conclusion. He wasn't at the Gryffindor table, he was at the Slytherin one. "Ah. Sorry, my mind was elsewhere when I sat down." Kim apologized to Irina, and cleared his throat. The boy's blue eyes swept over Irina for a few seconds again. But this time his gaze was more focused, as if he'd been asleep before but was now awake and conscious. "You're a friend of Colin's?" Kim asked, before his attention was drawn away by the arrival of a newcomer. One that was dressed all in yellow colors, probably a Hufflepuff, or someone that just really liked the color yellow. He looked up at the girl, who obviously knew Colin from how she'd greeted him, and then introduced herself to them all. Yup, a Hufflepuff. Kim noted how Tesla glanced over at the pile of chocolate frogs and broke the two legs off the one he'd captured. "Yo, Tes! You want a frog? I just caught this one." Kim said, waiting for a reply from her. If she accepted, the redhead would throw the chocolate frog towards Tesla, from his current position. Even if she didn't catch it, it couldn't really hop away anymore with no legs and the enchantment didn't tend to last for a long period of time. Kim saw Rita come over to try and help Opeila catch some of the errant chocolate frogs. He didn't really say anything because greeting everyone took a lot out of him. The only time he did so was when he was at a meeting for one of the clubs he owned. Of course, if someone specifically called out to him, he'd give them answers. But he wasn't going to go out of his way to do so. It wasn't as if he considered himself to be a social butterfly, like many students at Hogwarts tended to be. Opeila was a bit far away from him to really have much of a conversation with but Kim could at least see her from his position. If she raised her voice, he could also make out her words too. He gave her a nod in response to her wave, to let her know he'd seen it. Thankfully, no one was crowding around him, which gave him some sense of relief. In this way, he was a lot like Opeila's cat, although if Kim could have seen the feline he would have instantly zoomed out of there. As it was, Loras was too far away for his allergies to kick in, so that allowed the boy temporary peace. For now. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────
