Excited for the ball?
It was Oct. 7th, only one day from the long-anticipated autumn ball. Rita just could not wait to put on her blue dress and high heels as well as combing her hair and putting on makeups, then come to the courtyard to dance with her pre-decided dance partner, @Tesla Stone, as well as interacting with new people there and making some new friends. She knew the students from other magic schools had come to Hogwarts on the 5th, and they were now residing in the campgrounds and expecting for the ball and the first task of the Hexwizard tournament. After the class finished that afternoon, Rita was against wandering around the corridors, and hoping to find someone to discuss about the ball with.
"I just could not wait for tomorrow for the ball to start! I want it to start on today!" Rita thought with a lot of anticipation of the ball while she was wandering around, "I know the ball is fairytale themed, and I am going to wear a blue dress and crystal high heels, so I look somewhat like Cinderella! I wonder what others would dress up as! I also could not wait to interact with new people and make some new friends! There will also be a lot of drama and romance at the ball, which is always very interesting! Who don`t like gossiping! Oh, I really can`t wait for tomorrow to come and the ball to start tomorrow evening!"

────────────────────On this day, Sienna was in a particularly bad mood, considering that the ball was tomorrow. If it were possible, she would get as far away from the school as possible, but she couldn't technically leave the grounds while in attendance. Instead, the Gryffindor was likely to curl up in the common room with a good book and hope that the ball was uncomfortably cold for the people attending. She hated the surplus of people at Hogwarts currently, and she hated the mere idea of dancing and romance, which were her reasons for hating the ball. In turn,

In truth, those were not the best, most comprehensible reasons, but Sienna liked them much better than the more meaningful reasons. Truthfully, she could not stand the idea of the feeling of being pushed into a corner and forgotten about, like she had been most of her life. She did not want to talk or interact with anyone, but she did not want to be forgotten either. No, she wanted to be seen and heard. To make a statement that not everyone would find commendable, but that would get her a place in the minds of everyone, whether good or bad.
Sighing, she made her way through the crowded corridors, her mind racing with countless thoughts and colorful ideas floating through her consciousness. All she wished for at the present moment was to be able to get to Gryffindor Tower in peace and with no disruptions. She could have that at the very

Rita was still wandering around the corridors, longing for the ball to begin tomorrow, when a girl with long straight black hair and green eyes wearing Gryffindor clothes walked quickly through the corridors, with her head down, sighing, seeming to be very sad. Rita did not know the girl, even had never seen her before, but she wished to cheer the sad girl up, without making her felt overwhelmed. "Poor Lion girl. She seems to be so sad. She must have had a bad day. I had never seen her before, and I don`t know what happened to her. Let me try to cheer her up. Hopefully she won`t feel overwhelmed by my warmth as a stranger. By the way, is she also excited for the ball?"
"Hi! My name is Rita, Rita Su, a Second Year Hufflepuff. Could you tell me your name, please?" Rita smiled to the sad girl, hope that will make her feel better, "You seem to be so sad. What happened to you? Are you having a bad day? Anyway, whatever happened to you, I understand you feeling. I also had bad days sometimes. By the way, are you excited for the ball tomorrow? Do you have a dance partner, or anything like that?"

Unfortunately for Sienna, her dearest wishes of peace and quiet for the remainder of the afternoon would not be coming true. A girl looking to be around the same age as her came towards her with clearly bursting energy. She introduced herself as Rita Su, a Hufflepuff, and as Sienna had thought, a second year like her. "Sienna," she introduced herself reluctantly. Immediately after introducing herself, she attempted to push past the Hufflepuff and continue on to the common room, but found her path blocked by Rita. She, like most others in this school, must be overflowing with excitement at the upcoming ball.
The conversation was not to end there either. "Sorry?" she asked, taken by surprise at Rita's blunt words. "Who are you to judge whether I'm upset or not?" She took a cold edge to her words as a natural instinct. "No, I'm not excited for the ball, or looking forward to tomorrow by any means. All it is is an event that leads to an overcrowded school accompanied by unnecessary romantics every which way. No, I do not even plan to attend." After all, why would she? People, romantic feelings in the air, and idle small talk. Three things she absolutely abhorred and three things that would be the main events tomorrow night.

Rita could clearly sense that the girl who introduced herself as Sienna was clearly not very happy to talk to her, as she kept her hand down and spoke to Rita with a cold tone. "Well, Sienna, I understand not everyone is interested in the ball tomorrow. There are too many people, and the night is gonna be extremely noisy and crazy. I`m not going to judge you, I`m just trying to care for you and asking if I could cheer you up. Anyway, you can go now if you really don`t want to chat with me. It is getting a bit late anyway." Rita responded to Sienna with a friendly smile, hoping she did not find her to be a nuisance. Rita also moved to the other side of the corridors to make sure she was not blocking Sienna to walk through the corridors if she really wanted to leave the corridors and go to other places to deal with her own stuff.
Rita understood not everyone likes her super extroverted and open personality. Some people, especially those introverts, would probably find her openness when she met someone new to be too overwhelming. That is completely normal and understandable, since Rita understood not everyone share the same personality as her. If Sienna really did not want to talk to her and wanted to just go, Rita should not block Sienna and force Sienna to talk to her. It was Sienna`s choice, and she had to right to choose not to talk with Rita. "If Sienna wants to go, then she has the right to go. I really don`t mind." Rita thought as she waited to see Sienna`s reaction.

Even though Sienna was initially irritated at having her afternoon so blatantly disturbed
by this Hufflepuff, she found something contagious about her energy. As Rita replied to her unkind words, she even moved so as to allow Sienna to leave if she wished. It wouldn't hurt to be a bit friendlier to Rita, even stay a bit longer instead of pushing past her to disappear into Gryffindor Tower for the rest of the day.
"Exactly, I'm glad you understand," she replied. She was unsure of if she came off friendlier to the other girl, simply because she never specifically tried or put any effort into being kind to others. It was like learning a foreign language to the Gryffindor. "There's really nowhere I have to be, I was simply going to go to my common room and read the hours away."
Reading the hours away was something she did very frequently, sometimes to pass the time, sometimes she accidentally lost herself in a book, which might end with her skipping classes and suffering on schoolwork. If the book was good enough, she didn't care about skipping or schoolwork. "What about you though?" Sienna asked, still attempting to be nice. "Exactly, I`m glad you understand." The Gryffindor responded to Rita, seeming to be happy that Rita understood her situation. Well, the girl did seem to be friendlier when Rita allowed her to leave the corridors to do whatever she need to do if Sienna really did not talk to Rita. She imagined the Gryffindor would leave immediately, but luckily, the girl stayed in the corridors and tried to appear friendly by asking Rita a few questions.
"Well, I also plan not to stay in the corridors for too long, and maybe after some time I may leave here and go to eat dinner. It is getting a little late anyway." Rita responded to the Gryffindor girl with a friendly smile, "By the way, I decided to go to the ball with my friend and dormmate @Tesla Stone, a fellow first year Hufflepuff whom I had a friendly chat within the common room and agreed to go to the ball with me. I believe we will have a great time together at the ball. Anyway, do you have anything else to ask me? If no, maybe you can leave the corridor now. See you later." Rita smiled at Sienna as she waited for the Gryffindor girl to respond after Rita asked Sienna if the Gryffindor girl had anything else to ask her.

True, it was getting rather late as the conversation drew on, and though Sienna was trying to be kind to Rita, it was rather wearisome to make the effort. Rita, though she seemed overflowing with energy before, now seemed more eager to wrap the conversation up and get to wherever she happened to be heading. Sienna couldn't be more relieved to hear the Hufflepuff wanted to leave almost as much as she herself did.
The Hufflepuff responded to Sienna's earlier question by announcing she planned to attend the ball with her dorm mate, who Sienna had never met nor heard of. "Hmm, I've never heard of him. Well I'm sure you will have a wonderful time with him at the ball tomorrow," she lied. Honestly, going with a date to a ball at such a young age seemed like a recipe for disaster to her, but perhaps Rita and whatever- his- name- was would end up having an excellent time together at the ball.
"Have a nice evening, and I wish you the best at the ball tomorrow," Sienna replied in the friendliest tone she could muster. Then, with a final smile at Rita, she walked past the other girl and began to make her way to Gryffindor Tower like she had originally planned. Rita, though she wouldn't have said it straight out to the girl, had begun to wear on her nerves, so her leave was timed rather perfectly. Making friends was too much of a hassle to be bothered with on a regular basis, Sienna decided.───────────────────────────────────────────

Anyway, after saying good evening to Rita and wishing she have a great time at the ball tomorrow with her ball friend whose name Sienna had never heard out, Sienna smiled at Rita and then left the corridor to do whatever she need to do during the evening. "Good evening, Sienna, wish you a great evening. Catch you later! Bye!" Rita also waved goodbye to Sienna with a friendly smile when Sienna gradually walked away in the corridors, leaving Rita by herself.
"Well, it`s a relatively brief short encounter, but I understand not everyone enjoys small talk like me. Some people just find it idle and would rather focus on more important things they need to do. Sienna is clearly an introvert, but at least she was not too mean to me, and even said goodbye to me with a friendly smile. Anyway, since Sienna has left the corridors, I think I don`t have to stay there for any longer. I haven`t finished my homework that is due very soon, just later this week, I shall also leave here to do my homework and other stuff I need to cope with. After that, I think it will be time to have dinner." Rita thought and left the corridors to her Plant Palace dorm to do her homework and deal with other things she need to cope with.
