Closed A New Year Open

First day has finally arrived. Irina was very excited, this day represents a new beginning, one that she was waiting for some time now. Her father was once a Hogwarts student too, so she grow up hearing stories about the magical school. Although, she was anxious to get to finally being able to use her magic and to learn everything about it, she was very nervous too. She had made homeschooling with her cousin and only friend Rita, so she's not used to get to meet new people and make new friends. Not to mention the idea of being so far from home and during so long.

She was born and raised in London, King's Cross Station was not a new place for her, except this time she was going to caught a different train. When she and her parents, Ingrid and Daniel Sousa arrived, they went directly to the wall that separated the muggle world from the magical one. It was tall and made of solid brick and concrete. Irina wasn't scared, however it is a strange feeling to went running against a wall and that made her unconsciously hesitate. She grabbed her trunk firmly, closed her eyes, counted three and made her way across the Platform 9¾.

Once in the other side, the first thing that came to her was the sound of people laughing and chatting loudly. There were families talking between them, some hugging each other saying their goodbyes. Some students were already at the train waving to the outside, others were running to get into it. The older students where greeting their old friends, obviously missing their conversations and company.

Then a thought came to her mind getting her anxiety increase...she doesn't know anyone in that train, so she had to share a compartment with some strangers...she wasn't prepared to talk with a group of people all of a sudden. Her heart started beating a little faster and her hands were getting sweaty, what if she went all weird and awkward? Ok, new plan, get inside that train as soon as possible...luckily i'll find an empty compartment! that's it! She tried to calm herself dawn by having a deep breath.

Looking one last time to her parents she said her goodbyes "See you at Christmas! I promise to write as soon as I can!". She hugged her father and kissed her mother, then turned and hurried to the train entrance. She walked to its corridors for a while...but she couldn't find an empty compartment. Well blame yourself for that! She had lost track of time at home, as always! She has being drawing on her sketchbook and she had to pack up some things in her trunk at the last minute. She had to hurry up, so she just dressed her school uniform and tied her hair into a ponytail, some curls escaped thought getting all messy.

Losing hope of getting a compartment just for her she decided to enter the first one at her right. She slid the door and came in. Seated there, in the farthest corner was a boy. He had black hair and was
reading what appeared to be a romance novel. Irina was so nervous and felt so bad for intruding the boy's space. She could feel her cheeks getting warm...although she had no more place to go. She decided to be polite then, hopefully he would greet her back. "Hi there! Do you mind if I join you? Don't wish to disturb you, but I couldn't find an empty compartment!" She must certainly was looking a "talking tomato" right now.

The dark-haired boy seemed to be as nervous as she was. He closed the book that he has been reading and putted it to aside. He understood that getting an empty compartment was almost impossible and politely invited her to take a sit. By the way he said it, Irina deduced that this wasn't his first year at Hogwarts.

Feeling a little more at easy by the boy's nice manners she picked up her truck and entered the train's compartment. Arranging her luggage into the rightful place she took the sit across from her trip's companion. She concluded that she should also be polite, so she introduced herself, "I'm Irina Sousa, it's my first year at Hogwarts! It's not yours, is it?" She asked him with a low and timid voice. Noticing she's not showing the confidence she wanted, she cleared her throat and tried again, "In witch house do you belong? What is the nicest thing at Hogwarts?" She said with a smile, acting a little more bold, but she new that the redness at her cheeks and her hands shaking a little were betraying her, reveling in truth how uneasier she was feeling, and how inexperienced she was talking to new people.

Sirin stroked her ferret Elysia gently as she strolled around the Hogwarts express. It was a sunny day, a new beginning, the head of the year. Sirin was, like Elysia, on the lookout for friends (the only difference was that Elysia was on the lookout for food). As she stopped by one particular car, she noticed a Gryffindor boy, a second-year perhaps, and a younger girl who looked to be a first year like Sirin.

Certainly it would not hurt to greet them.

Struggling under the weight of her bags and Elysia's constant squirming, Sirin trudged over to the students. She'd only then realized how embarrassing she looked, covered in heavy bags and robes. Her beautifully braided purple hair was already messed up but there was nothing she could do to fix it now anyways.

"Hey..um...can I sit with you both? I've been wandering around but the previous car I was in was too desolate---I like to socialize haha."

It was an awkward introduction, but Elysia was also there as Sirin's "wingman." She squeaked a couple of times and attempted to jump in the boy's lap--like she always did with anybody new to her.

Speaking from the heart, Sirin just wanted to sit down and continue annotating "Hogwarts: A History." She still had half a bottle of ink--plenty to finish off.

Maybe...these would be her future friends?

It was time, after what felt like forever, he was finally going to Hogwarts. He grabbed his stuff and got on the train and he immediately started looking for a seat. He knew he couldn't get through this year alone. So he walked until he found a car with a girl with light purple hair, another girl with brown hair and 1 other guy probably a second year sitting beside the two girls. His hand was on the handle, when he hesitated and thought

What if they don't like me... What if I won't fit in with them? I don't have a choice most of the other seats were taken already. Well it won't hurt to try I guess...

He took a deep breath and opened the door and walked in.

"Uh Hi. Im Oli- Oliver, there aren't any seats left... can I maybe sit here with you guys? Don't worry I won't interrupt you guys, if you would like I can just stay quite for the whole ride or I could try to find another seat in another car"


He thought to himself,

This was a horrible idea! Why did I do this? They are gonna think I'm weird or something!

He hesitated but eventually he put his bags on the ground, and sat down hoping, that they could be his friends. He then decided that he needed to recheck all of his materials. After all, not doing so would mean not being able to study at Hogwarts.

Time passes fast! It was Aug 31st, the summer holiday had ended, so did the exciting summer camp in Hogwarts, and it was time to take the train ride and return to Hogwarts to start Rita`s second year at school. Taking her belongings, Rita entered the Hogwarts Express, found a place to sit down, and began to enjoy the scenery nearby as the train slowly arrived at Hogwarts.

When Rita looked around her seat to see who was sitting beside her, she saw two boys and two girls sitting around the same table as her. Rita did not know any of those students, but she thought it would not hurt to introduce herself to them and get to know them. Rita was always glad to meet new people, and she could never have too many friends. She waved to the other students sitting on the same table with a smile, "Hi, guys! Nice to see you all! My name is Rita, Rita Su, a second year Hufflepuff. I suppose you are also taking the train back to Hogwarts, aren`t you? How are you feeling today? Are you enjoying the train ride? Would you mind me sitting with you guys?" Thinking it was a bit rube to her to bump into their chats, Rita decided to order some snacks for them to share. When the snack tray arrived at their table, Rita said to the lady pulling the tray with a smile, "Some chocolate frogs and several every-flavor beans for us to share within the table, please." She then turned to the other students on the table, "I ordered some beans and chocolate frogs from the snack lady to share between us, hope you`ll enjoy it."

Oliver just sat when Rita came in.

“Hi Rita! Im Oliver. And I have to say, these chocolate frogs are delicious!”
He said while unwrapping one.”

“Cool I got Dumbledore!”
He said excitedly.

After a short while he said,
“So… what are you guys looking forward to most? Im looking forward to potions and charms! I am also really exited abou-“
But he was abruptly cut off by his Owl, Wisdom who had somehow escaped his cage and tried to eat his chocolate frog!

“Hey! Wisdom, no! If you want one just ask!” He said

Wisdom hooted and flew on top of Olivers Shoulder.
Oliver ate half of his chocolate frog. But he caved in and gave the rest to Wisdom.

“Don’t do that again ok Wisdom?”
Wisdom hooted happily.

As I was saying, Im also really exited about flying class! Im not that good but I had some practice! My mom used to be the seeker.
Oliver said while yawning.

He pulled out his book about Quidditch and started reading. He found it quite interesting. He noticed he was starting to fall asleep. He tried to keep awake. He grabbed his water jug then took a swig of water then he dozed off.

Rita was just taking a chocolate frog from the table to unwrap when a slightly shorter boy sitting beside her who seemed to be a first year and was also unwrapping a chocolate frog introduced himself as Oliver. Rita waved to the boy, "Hi, Oliver! Nice to see you! Congrats on what you are getting! You seem to be a first year. Looking forward to start Hogwarts very soon? Life in Hogwarts can be a bit stressful at times, but it is also very colorful with loads of activities! You will definitely have a lot of fun! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!"

Rita laughed seeing Oliver trying to speak something but was cut off by his owl Wisdom. "Haha, you owl is so naughty! I have a cat named Peanut, a very cute male red mackerel tabby, want to see him?" She opened her bag and gently carried quietly sleeping Peanut out and put on the table for Oliver to see clearly, "Look! There he is! He is very cute, isn't he? Do you like him? But please do not make too much noise. Peanut is sleeping, please don't wake him up, I don't want to let Peanut running everywhere and cause mischief on the train!"

He whispered

He then proceeded to grab a book from his trunk but during that process he accidentally bashed his head under the table.

BONK

”AGH OWWW- Oh I mean owwww.”
He said hastily praying he didn’t wake her cat

If I wake up her cat she probably would get mad and she wouldn’t be my friend! I need to be more careful…
He said under his breath.

And of course at the worst time his owl Wisdom started getting closer to the cat
”WISDOM NO!”
He whispered
”I WILL GIVE YOU CHOCOLATE! OK?”
He added

Then abruptly Wisdom stoped and flew onto Olivers shoulder and started pecking his shoulder asking for the chocolate.
”You know Wisdom? You are a smart owl. But you use if for the wrong reasons.”
he said while feeding the owl some chocolate.

Im sorry Rita. He isn’t like this at home… I guess he is just nervous.
He said to Rita.
Never do that again ok Wisdom?
Oliver scolded his Owl.
After a while, he grabbed his sketch book and started doodling. At first he drew a wolf. Then after a while he realized it looked more like a tiger. His drawing wasn’t all that good anyway.
