Chikao was about to head off after his remark to Hadashi, and as he turned to leave his footsteps felt heavy upon the ground. He was exhausted, and his mind could only hear the steps shake beneath him. Nothing about this whole altercation was interesting enough to be bothered with. It was only a reminder that Chikao betrayed his own self-motto and a reminder of how annoyed he was with Hadashi and Shimizu. He forgave as much as he could, but the thought of doing better because of threats just really made him upset. His mind went slightly blank an - "“OI NARUMI! Get back here, we should set off some fireworks.”
Chikao stopped in his tracks, a mischievous grin overtook his face. Chikao turned to see his good friend Aryaan calling out towards him, "Fireworks? You know what, I agree. It's certainly dark enough from some good old fashion fireworks! Don't aim to the sky though! We can't alert any teachers!" He yelled back. Physically tired, Chikao withdrew his wand, "I'll bring the red if you bring the green!" A hint at what Chikao wanted Aryann to do. With that, Chikao pointed his wand, but his exhausted body made him sway a bit to hard as the words came out of his mouth, "Periculum!"
With that, bright blinding light of red shot out of his wand at a dangerous speed, but the direction was never intended at the sky, but rather the ground. A symbolic bit of energy that showed how much pent-up rage Chikao had, and how blinding it was capable of being However, Chikao was so exhausted that his sight and arm movement swayed and he could tell it misfired in the wrong direction. It seemed his spell was heading directly towards Chiaki, "And let's not forget the amount of smoke it can cause!" Another hint towards Aryaan on what their next moves should be after their firework show.
I used Tatsu, and it chose Chiaki as the unintended target, no offense Chiaki

Hadashi had already been annoyed. Not only were loads of people up when they SHOULD be in the dorms preparing for lights out, and Pride having his usual entirely undeserved arrogance, but here came Chikao Narumi whose entire reason for existence apparently was irritating him. And lo and behold, look what he did. Trying to rile him for not being chosen as champion of Mahoutokoro, and having the audacity to say that gold robes wouldn't suit him.
Perhaps Narumi hit his head too hard; it would certainly not be the first time, but gold robes would well suit the one who had top marks in the school. All this of course, after Hadashi had paid him a genuine compliment.
Hadashi's fists clenched, but he tried to calm himself. It would not do to lash out here, for something as simple-minded as Narumi's half-assed insults.
Compose yourself. Still your mind. Breathe. He wants to anger you. Calm. Serene. Just let it-
Oh for fuck's sake.“You guys having party? Li-i-iiiit! If you’d all just told me that you’d all wanted to join me on the 'fun' side, I could have shown up with cake and some balloons. And fireworks!”
The one, singular person that Hadashi wanted the least to see. The little brat that had somehow gotten selected for the Hexwizard Tournament over the ace student, master strategist and dueling prodigy that was Hadashi Hitoshi. The one who's only use was quidditch and bringing shame to Mahoutokoro and headaches to Hadashi. The one (of two to three) who apparently thought that school and grades, the things that shape your future were things to be taken lightly and shirked for playing around, and that rules were suggestions to promptly be ignored.
Aryaan-fucking-Shamsi.
He immediately inserted himself into the conversation, no greeting, no tact, just came in and started squawking. Suggesting they were having a party. Hadashi highly doubted Shamsi was stupid enough to actually think that. Shamsi was unintelligent. This is fact. But there is no way he thought that THIS was a party. Hadashi refused to believe that someone in Mahoutokoro was that stupid, if anything as a defense mechanism.
But then. Narumi did it. He fired off a red sparks spell. His aim was so poor (again) that he wasn't sure if Narumi aimed it at him or at Akira Shimizu, but it was clearly one of them. But, it veered off to Chiaki. And he had the utter gall to suggest Shamsi do the same, and suggest further that smoke be cast as well. Purposely disrespecting him, antagonizing him and someone else who took pride in their accomplishments, Aryaan existing in his presence far too soon for it to be safe to do so, and then outright Narumi attacking them, and telling someone else to join him. That was enough to do it.
Hadashi snapped.
He decided that he'd had enough of dealing with these petulant children, and that he would tolerate their insolence no more.
But, instead of getting red-faced, spewing enraged words and saliva like some kind of animal, Hadashi's entire posture changed. He visibly relaxed, his demeanor calmed. But when he looked at Shamsi and Narumi, his eyes were colder than ice and showed the onlookers that they might want to run.
Chikao Narumi may well be like an Oni when angered. There was definitely validity to that statement. Hadashi could not claim to be a raging monster when his anger reached a boiling point. No, Hadashi was far more akin to a wrathful Kami than a base Oni. And those who angered him past a certain point had best be prepared for the wrath of the gods.
After all, why not? What's the harm in showing our talons once in a while? Let them have it.
The only thing that was more chilling than Hadashi's aura and gaze was his voice. Calm, serene and still as an undisturbed pond.
"Shimizu-san?"
An honorific Hadashi used for his dueling partners.
"Shall we demonstrate to these two why you should never anger a navy-robed student?"
Without waiting for a response, Hadashi brought out his wand. He looked at Chikao and Aryaan with concern. The kind of concern an utter sociopath would pretend to show someone right before they slid the knife in.
"Narumi. Shamsi. You both look like you've been active recently. You seem... hot."
A terrifying smile grew across Hadashi's face.
"Let me help."
He pointed his wand in the proper way to hit multiple targets that he had learned by -you guessed it- Studying.
"Aqua Eructo."

"Of course," he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "I don't take back what I say, so I'll be there tomorrow morning," he affirmed, rebuffing Bakugo's exclamation of excitement that he would meet them on the pitch tomorrow. He was a keeper of his word, after all, so that was one reason he hardly ever committed to anything.
Now that this was settled, he turned his attention back to his senpais. There was Puraido-senpai, half-taunting Hitoshi-senpai with the Championship that the latter did not receive. There were remarks that he would've liked to make about Hitoshi-senpai being far more qualified for the role, and more fit to represent their elite Japanese school, but he bit them back. Instead, he asked, "What do you suppose the Goblet was looking for, then, Puraido-senpai? What do you suppose it saw in you? Perhaps you would know, as the intended Champion of Mahoutokoro." An innocent and polite-enough remark, not meant to sound like he was implying anything at all -- merely a question of curiosity. But the undertones were certainly there, and quite impossible to shroud.
Akira's eyes shifted for a moment between Puraido and Bakugo as the senpai made his remark about Akira's disinterest. What was Puraido implying? Surely, he was simply jesting like he was with Hitoshi-senpai, but he had to make one point clear nevertheless. "Bakugo-san is a good acquaintance of mine and a friend to many. His expressions are simply very... French. It would be incorrect to assume anything more of his manners of greeting people," he explained, thinking that perhaps it made sense. One was not to take Bakugo's enthusiasms and over-friendliness to seriously, after all. It was simply how the boy was, and perhaps how one should allow him to be.
He did not expect the next person to show up, but of course Shamsi would be talking about fireworks, because they were having a 'party'. Akira pretty much wanted to leave at once, but he could only watch in disbelief as red sparks shot from Narumi's wand straight at Hiroi. Whether it was an accident or not, he couldn't tell, but Narumi's wand aim was always atrocious, and he gave the boy a warning glare. The boy truly didn't know when to stop.
"Shimizu-san? Shall we demonstrate to these two why you should never anger a navy-robed student?" Hitoshi-senpai asked, getting into position, and Akira knew it was more of a request than a question once his senpai was in dueling mode. One he would willingly oblige. "Yes, I've got your back, Hitoshi-senpai," he confirmed, unholstering his wand swiftly and easily, for the thousandth time. His intent was to disable and nullify. His dark eyes would land on Narumi, the boy of most trouble.
"Rictusempra," he incantated, wand directed at Narumi as he cast the Tickling Charm.

It was, or at least felt, rare for Pax to spend much time with Ayako since she was so busy with her studies.
"Alright! I'll just be waiting over here!" She pointed at a small patch of grass in the corner of the courtyard.
Still clutching her broom, she waddled over excitedly, unable to hide the smile that was forming. When she had sat and settled herself on the ground to wait, she could hear Ayako-san invite Hiro-san as well, and smiled even more. Hiro had so many close friends, it felt like he barely had time for her anymore. It would be nice to get some quality time with the two of them. The two Chiaki was closest to.
As Ayako and Hiro walked away, Chiaki diverted her attention back to the main group of people, where even more people had arrived to partake in the odd discussion. In the moonlight, faces couldn't be distinguished, but hand gestures could, and from tone of voice also, Chiaki could discern the growing resentment that was building up within the students. Gulping, she pushed herself as far back as she could go, hands clutching round her sleeves. The voices seemed to raise in volume and Chiaki could feel herself starting to panic. Shutting her eyes desparately, she tried to remember what Ayako had attempted to help her with, with the breathing exercises.

The choice to remain a silent observer for the most part was a conscious one. To observe and discern the intentions and capabilities of those present and to most importantly determine what utility they might serve in the future and what risk they might ultimately pose.
There was little thought, not beyond the immediate in the least. There was arrogance, anger and a third sentiment he had not yet determined.
"What do you suppose the Goblet was looking for, then, Puraido-senpai? What do you suppose it saw in you? Perhaps you would know, as the intended Champion of Mahoutokoro."
Akira was the only one that seemed to have an active interest in one of the sources of animosity here. While it might be simply a 'polite' inquiry, that would not be what he believed. "Probably not a Japanese student," he replied. His choice was certainly antagonistic, the reason seemingly overlooked. The point was to see exactly what he was seeing, what he had just learned and what he would ultimately have to report when all of this was done and over. "And very much not me," he added with a lower tone, almost as if he had accomplished puberty in the last second. That as because the goblet never picked him either, in spite of the fact that his name was called. Like most things, the illusion of fairness was just that -- an illusion. His statement was not a misguided belief that he was 'worthy' or even 'chosen' because he was neither, not that he could say as much.
"Bakugo-san is a good acquaintance of mine and a friend to many. His expressions are simply very... French. It would be incorrect to assume anything more of his manners of greeting people."
"I have a cousin in Beauxbatons, I have my doubts he will be snuggling his classmates in this or any century," he claimed. Maybe he was wrong, but if anything he considered Tone to be a burgeoning mythomaniac. Which was fine, they were just teens right now so the interactions were simply flirtatious but if he were to look at the red threads of fate to see where they might lead, he would quite possibly conclude that he was looking at a future of multiple, probably unstable relationships with Mahoutokoro students as well as some wizards abroad. "I am also not suggesting that you are special to him," he added. "But I do wonder if this statement struck a chord with you, if there was not a sense of disappointment," being from someone who never admitted interest, fondness or demonstrated reciprocity of any kind he did one thing that had always stood out in the encounters he had witnessed and that was 'tolerate' him. "He will move on, as you already said -- he is a friend to many" he reminded him.
The 'champion' would arrive and rather than note the tense atmosphere or perhaps because he sensed it, would ask Narumi to set off some fireworks. Narumi, the 'deviant' of the Mahoutokoro students if 'deviance' is defined as someone that is not as scholarly as the rest. Not as tidy.
"Periculum"
Setting off fireworks would have drawn the attention and perhaps ire of the Mahoutokoro staff. The fact that they were not going to set them off in the sky, but rather at another student, Chiaki spoke volumes. Bright, blinding lights and smoke, from what? There was no pyrotechnics involved or incendiary effect in Periculum, it was rather an illuminating effect used as a distress call, decorative asset or... an offensive means of blinding. So they could do what? They can rush off in hopes of what? They were seen out after hours. They were not in active peril, their names were known and they would be found.
"Aqua Eructo."
Well, that was what he thought. Hadashi, a duelist used Aqua Eructo with Spell Spread to attempt to hit both Chikao Narumi, the 'deviant' and Aryaan Shamsi, the 'champion'. His attacked aimed for the two of them rather than Hadashi's active antagonist, Pride. An attack that he could argue the two of them saw coming with the blinding flash of light and the eruption of water from the tip of the Japanese teen's wand.
"Yes, I've got your back, Hitoshi-senpai," Akira would announce and unholster his wand. While unexpected, Mathias would mirror the teen's movements. He too would grip his wand, sycamore wood and snallygaster heartstring. The wand felt cool in his grip as he tightened his hold and leveled his wand towards the very same duo that were about to be the target of a group assault.
"There is no smoke from the sparks spells, try" he flicked his wand and gave an incantation of his own. "Fumos," he incanted and allowed smoke to stream from the tip of his wand in the direction of Chikao Narumi, the 'deviant' and Aryaan Shamsi, the 'champion'. His intention was not to leave the duo in the line of Hadashi's wrath but rather to give them the cover they might otherwise fail to earn with a wall of smoke.
A flippendo would head Aryaan Shamsi's way but Aryaan would escape the assault and the girl whom the sparks had temporarily blinded and startled would shout out an apology before attempting to escape.
Action: Mathias cast Fumos, his wand pointed more towards Aryaan Shamsi and/or Chikao Narumi

"Probably not a Japanese student," Puraido-senpai would respond to Akira's question about what the Goblet was looking for in a Champion. The Japanese boy paused to consider this for a second, before letting out a scoff. Was his senpai just trying to pour gasoline onto his fire? Considering Puraido's antagonistic tone, Akira felt that he wasn't merely joking lightheartedly. The Japanese boy wouldn't find it surprising, if that was what Puraido intended, seeing how Puraido had no inhibition when it came to making a show at the ball with Miss Harper. In that case, his senpai deserved a full-on retort, maybe even without an air of politeness. Akira would open his mouth in a brief flash of annoyance--
However, it seemed that Puraido had not finished speaking... "And very much not me," he added, more silently, more forebodingly, almost as if he were simply talking to himself. At that, Akira closed his mouth, narrowed his eyes slightly, and studied the older boy more closely. Did the boy know something that no one else knew? Somehow, Akira could feel that Puraido knew more than he let on -- something that he probably did not have the permission to share. Was Akira just imagining that his senpai knew something, or was Puraido actually being modest in feeling that he should not have been chosen?
Either way, even if he was wrong about Puraido knowing anything more, he had to clarify, half-forgetting the older boy's earlier comment about non-Japanese champions. "Do you mean you felt you were unworthy of being chosen, because there were others who were better suited for the title?" he asked. "Perhaps one of our other foreign upperclassmen?" he would add leerily, with a tone that indicated he did not agree that the Goblet could find any gaijin who was fit to represent their Japanese school. "I know Shamsi only got chosen because he was standing next to you, so the Goblet obviously did not want him. But, since the Goblet chose you, and the Goblet knows best, I'm surprised that a confident senpai like you could doubt yourself," he would pry underhandedly.
When the conversation moved on to Bakugo, Akira listened and wondered what Puraido was insinuating. A sense of disappointment? Bakugo being a friend to many? "No," he would respond simply, to the older boy's question about whether he was disappointed. Sometimes, less was better. He had no business talking about his feelings with someone he hardly knew, and who wasn't very polite himself. "What kind of a friend would I be if I didn't let my friends befriend others? People come together and they drift apart. That is natural in life, and everybody must accept that. It's not often in our control and it's a matter of fate. Isn't that true?" As he said this, his eyes drifted absent-mindedly to Chikao Narumi, his former childhood best friend. Yes, he had come to learn that the hard way.
He coughed as smoke filled the area, but held his wand at the ready in case anything unexpected came his way.

ARYAAN SHAMSI from Mahoutokoro
A stream of cold water hit him with the force of a punch, and the Indian boy couldn’t help but have the breath knocked out of him.
Well that’s one way of doing it.
From the corner of his eye, he could see that Narumi had managed to avoid the stream of water coming his way from Big Blue, but had also drawn the ire of the uppity Navy in their own year. Not good, he’d need to find a way to get his friend boy out of here before things got too bad.
The familiar feeling of adrenaline pumped in his veins; this was just another Quidditch match.
Half formed ideas at the back of his head were rejected as soon as they formed. Casting green sparks into the sky? That would beat the whole point of this. Taking on both the duelists here and now? Possible, Big Blue looked a breath away from unleashing curses. Running away? Now that wasn’t fun in the slightest.
Puraido was here too, the coward. And there was no way Aryaan could afford to look as much a chicken as him.
Decision made, Shamsi took a step forward, a slow smile threatening to spread into a full Cheshire grin, the water in his eyes and face notwithstanding.
“Thank you for that refreshing dose of water, Hadashi-senpai”. Shamsi intoned, his voice sickly sweet, even as he slowly unslung the broom resting on his shoulders. “I’m sure your control will get better with more practice.”
As a smokescreen spell enveloped him, Aryaan got slid onto the broom with the smooth, practiced motions he’d carried out a dozen times before.
“Come on, then. Let’s see you try that again.”

Chikao dodged the easy water of Hadashi's attack, he bit off more than he could chew. However, Chikao's exhaustion couldn't save him from Akira's tickling charm, and he let out half-gasping laughs. It was a mixture of laughter, chuckling, and heavy breathing. As much as Chikao would have loved to continue fighting with Hadashi and Akira, he couldn't help but feel the exhaustion in his body building up more and more with time. He needed sleep, at least a good solid 24hrs of sleep to regain all of his energy. He really pushed himself too much during practice, and there was little hope he'd be able to keep going on. He snickered a bit more and turned towards Akira as his mouth rammbling off about friends and the goblet, "Based on - keke - what your saying Akira. Then that goblet must have seen you and Hadashi as little pieces of worms - kekeke. I bet - *huff* - that goblet saw Pride and Shamsi being closer to gold robes than the two of you - kekeke," Chikao spat the words as clear as he could between each laugh.
The boy knew he was going to be in a lot of trouble if this continued on, and as the smoke from Pride was cast, he smiled. "Keke - I - keke- owe you some Takoyaki, Pride-senpai!" Chikao yelled as he dashed away from the battle. It seemed like a cowardly act, and very unlike Chikao to do but he had a straight head in strategy. He wanted to fight, but not with Akira AND Hadashi. It was risky and troublesome. It would place Chikao and Aryaan at a disadvantage at best. The solution? Split up, was what came to Chikao's mind, "Come on Akira! Catch me while you can!" Chikao, despite already being exhausted, dashed away from their location, bickering and mocking Akira to follow him.
Yet, Chikao felt like there needed to be a bit more fun and excitement to this game of chase. His dash was towards the innocent and fragile Chiaki, and Chikao grinned a bit more. "Careful where you shoot Akira! You need to save the princess without harming them!" Chikao dashed towards Chiaki and picked them up. He began to keep running away with Chiaki in his arms, threatening to use them as a shield to prevent any shots from being taken during the chase. It was devilish, cruel, and fitting for the Oni child. Of course though, if anyone actually knew Chikao well, then they'd know that he would never put others in harm's way for his own benefit. If anything, he was acting as Chiaki's shield for the time being.

Shimizu Akira paid too much attention. "Do you mean you felt you were unworthy of being chosen, because there were others who were better suited for the title?" The teenager inquired. "Perhaps one of our other foreign upperclassmen?" Not that there were many of them, Mahoutokoro was one of the smaller schools due to the regional limitations and the language barrier. Something he struggled with still as he carefully considered the words he used and said little as what was uttered was laced with his accent. So thick, it made the words he uttered come out clumsy and exaggerated.
The only problem when dealing with Pride was that he had no issue lying, he found it more convenient than the truth and moreover for his sake safer. "Pretty sure the goblet chose Shamsi," he shrugged. It was an obvious lie and he was brazen enough to say it. What were they going to do, complain that he was not being honest enough? Of course the media loved the fact that Mahoutokoro had perhaps the youngest Champion in the history of these international tournaments.
Akira had vexing focus, the ADD mindset of a majority of his peers usually meant that at first squirrel their attention was diverted. "I know Shamsi only got chosen because he was standing next to you, so the Goblet obviously did not want him. But, since the Goblet chose you, and the Goblet knows best, I'm surprised that a confident senpai like you could doubt yourself." It was a shot at his pride, something that as his name would suggest, was something that he had in abundance. While he made an effort to hide his clenched jaw and the flare in his eyes, muttered "A wizard is a wizard, anything is better than a half-breed champion." Howard White, fathers favorite not even by blood. Fucking circus freak like his wife.
Aryaan Shamsi, the 'champion' was sadly also an idiot. He did not stand a chance against Hadashi Hitoshi, even an arrogant asshole such as Pride understood that. A jet of water was likely the least of a troubling array of spells that could have been slung by the duellist. The cloud of smoke was not for giving the Indian the advantage in this scenario, they were both blind, but rather to provide a smoke screen so that he could run. A momentary lapse in his better judgement considering the two of them -- Akira and Hitoshi would likely hand Pride his own ass as easily if not easier than they could Shamsi. Now they had a sudden reason to as arrogant, haughty words turned to actions Mathias would let out a sigh. It was useless at this point, the Champion was not even going to survive until the first task. Perhaps Hitoshi or Akira would get their to be the Champion yet. "The exit is in the opposite direction of their voice," he reminded them as if this was some sort of cue from stage left.
Chikao seemed to inherently understand what was to be done -- to run while he had the chance. Why wasn't he standing next to Mathias, he had a better chance of at least making it to the match! Likely due to years of doing that same thing -- antagonizing something that he should not and then fleeing to avoid the consequences of his actions. There was nothing to be won in staying there to fight the 'good fight' for no boon besides dignity which was scarce enough as is.
Chikao would pick-up Chiaki and dash away, a human shield was not a 'bad plan'. If only he dragged Shamsi with him this would not be so... troublesome now. "Epoximise," Mathias uttered reluctantly. Perhaps his last word as he tried to bind the soles of Hitoshi's (the clear brawn of the duo) shoes to the ground. "Get out of here before you get a three on one," Mathias threatened with feigned indifference to the scenario. Perhaps the champion was a freshman masochist, a kink that these boys could work out after the tournament was over.
Action: Casts Epoximise on @Dan Palmer as Hadashi Hitoshi while he urges the Champion @Hui Ming as Aryaan Shamsi to run.
