Dove entered the ball, hand in hand with someone. As she walked through the broad entrance into the Courtyard, a floral white dress flowed around her ankles, a sparkling white halo sitting above her head, hair done up in curls with fake flowers dotted around it. She was walking in polished white heels (which she had practiced walking with as she had gone through quite the struggle to learn how).
And the highlight of her outfit, a pair of large, feathery white wings.
But who was she walking with?
Her magnificent date to the ball, Irene Delgado, walked with her in a flourishing crimson dress, scrunched at the sleeves. It had a cuff around the neck and covered her shoes. Dove turned to Reena, eyes sparkling with wonder.
"Isn't this ball great, Reena? I'm so glad that we decided to go together!" She giggled, and blushed. "As friends, of course!" As the magical tunes being played blasted in Dove's ear, she had to talk loud so Reena could hear her... And so she could hear even herself! "Come on, let's dance!" She guided Reena out into the middle of the floor, her fingers brushing against the silk cuff of her sleeves.
But then she realized: SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DANCE! She froze up, still holding both of Reena's hands.

"Nope. Nope nope nope. Bad decision. We're not doing this."

Emma entered the courtyard in awe of the surroundings. She couldn’t believe how well decorated it was and she knew it must have taken a lot of work from her own experiences on a ball committee. The first thing she saw was the thousands upon thousands of flowers that were surrounding the courtyard. The next was the fountain. She could see a few things floating and bobbing in the water and she walked closer to see what they were. She laughed as she saw Thumbelina, and then the large frog prince. She knew many of the Disney fairytales from her childhood, her favorite having been the princess and the frog. But she hadn’t felt comfortable dressing as Tiana, instead choosing Red Riding Hood, mostly because of the cute cape and boots, but also because it was easy enough to hide behind. Even if the red were to draw more attention than she had hoped.

Moving away from the fountain, Emma nervously and quietly walked around, observing all the decorations and the veritable feast that was laid out. Grasping the extra fabric from her sleeves as the handle of the small picnic basket dug into her arm, she looked around, trying to find familiar faces. She had almost talked herself out of going considering she hadn’t really found anyone to go with, her friends already busy with their own groups or dates. But in the end, she had decided to come, if only to see what would happen. She had learned from last year that crazy things happened when the whole school gathered….okay, anytime at Hogwarts but more seemed to happen when they gathered in large groups. She had her wand in her basket, since her dress didn’t have pockets, and shockingly capes didn’t come with them either. She had debated taping the wand to her arm or somehow fashioning a holster of some kind, but figured it was just as easy to place it in the basket. Not that she was expecting anything at all. But still better safe than sorry as she had learned last year. She wouldn’t be caught off guard again.

Sighing, Emma found a spot to people watch, mumbling to herself about eventually wanting to find a fairytale prince but only when she kicked some butt. After all, her second favorite was Brave, and Merida didn’t take any guff off of anyone. But Emma did eventually want the sweet romance that many of the movies contained. That was part of why she liked the Princess and the Frog so much. Tiana was certainly no pushover and worked for what she wanted but still let herself have the romance and her prince.

He said his name was Wynn Wen and that she's looking great in her dress...she remembered that at Madam Malkin's, when she picked up the chiffon and tulle black dress, he said that it was a beautiful dress and that, actually, helped her choose this sparkling outfit. But now he was also complimenting her? She felt her face become even more warm and she new she probably was more red then the Hans Christian Andersen's shoes. Her heart started to beat a little faster, she wasn't used to receiving these kind of words from a boy and now she really didn't knew what to say... Thankfully, he turned to the table grabbing something to eat. She took advantage of his momentary distraction too look around, so she could gain some composure again and her ability to speak without showing how nervous she got. Her eyes fell where some of her friends were, she saw Colin who was talking to a boy with purple hair and Violet was just arriving near them, her dress was amazing! She thought that Violet caught her looking at them, so she made a small wave at her friends saying a soundless "Hi!".

Irina's attention turned again to the boy in elven clothes next to her. From his expression that chocolate cake must be really good...or at least she thought, giving the fact that she just could see half of his face that was not covered by the deer mask. That idea was actually genius...with a mask would be much easier to hide her cheeks' pinkish color and would help her disguise the embarrassment by giving her some "cover". However, she could still act more courageously than what she felt at the moment. “You don’t have a partner?” She heard him ask. "Uh...N...No I don't! I was hoping to find some friends here. Even if I don't, how could I miss this? A Faerie tale themed ball? I had at least to come eat some of this delicious pies and see the decorations! Don't you think?" She asked with a small laugh. She looked around him then, seeing if he was with somebody else, "Are you waiting for your partner?" Was she secretly hoping that he wasn't? No of course not...am I?

George's heart had been acting funny ever since Alan asked him out to the ball. As a friend, of course - George had clarified that point before accepting, lest either of them get any funny ideas that this was some kind of date, or that it would be okay for Alan to hold George's hand without explicit, written permission beforehand. The idea of it being a date wasn't horrible for George, of course. It was simply too extreme to comprehend. Far preferable was simply ignoring the tension between them in the hopes that whatever feelings that existed on either side would just evaporate, because that definitely was gonna happen.

Thankfully, it was easy to forget his worries in the pageantry of it all. Everyone passing George by in the corridors looked stunning. Even the little kids had cleaned up decent. George, of course, had gone entirely overboard. Purple eyeshadow stained his face, dark blush, and a pair of absolutely ghastly bright purple lips were on his face. If he kissed somebody tonight, the whole world would know about it. He was the sea witch to match Alan, who was the little mermaid himself. This was much nicer than being dressed as the prince - too many girls would be out there tonight with their prince charming, he suspected, and he would rather be dead than unremarkable.

"There you are," George said, straightening out his hair at the sight of @Alan Vanes, his date. Er, friend. Friend dance partner ball date. George was barely recognizable, layered in his purple makeup, his hair dyed white and done up to look like it was floating suspended in water. In fact, it was just heavily done up with potions and pomade. Still, he looked quite nice in his dark dress robes - positively villainous beside the mermaid-man.

When Alan moved to enter the courtyard with George, the younger boy suddenly folded his arms, his brows arching in anger. "Alan! Don't walk in without me, you're here with me - try and act like it, please," he muttered, grumbling as he seized the redhead and linked arms with him. Dressed up at a party, one would think George would be in his element, but he was as twisted up over nothing as usual. Too much on his mind to enjoy dancing. He wondered if Alec was here. In fact, it seemed like he didn't recognize many people at all.

Floating around the ball and taking in the decor with a death grip on Alan's arm, George paused to look over the set of swans and singular ugly duckling perched below a willow tree. It prompted an unfortunate connection in his mind. "Where is Jake?" George wondered. He didn't suspect foul play just yet - only that Jake might have lost his nerve to attend. "I did him up to match us. I thought he was going to come... I don't see anyone I know. Except-..."

@Simon Kincaid and his girlfriend were Ariel and Prince Eric. Of course, there were going to be duplicate costumes, but the fact that it was one of his broom racers made the perceived slight doubly annoying. George huffed and let go of his clutching on Alan's arm. "Whatever. Do you see anyone you want to hang out with, or...?"

Daphne didn’t immediately answer my question and I wasn’t surprised as she had done the same thing when we first met. In fact, the first thing she said was “Oh my stars! David you look great!”. I completely agreed with her and replied by saying “Yeah, thanks for the compliment. And you look pretty stunning yourself in that sparkling dress.” It was at this point, when I was up close, that I noticed that the dress was sparkling not because of glitter, but because of tiny crystals embedded into it.

“Aww, thank you! My mother had it custom made, it is a bit hard to walk in though. Then again I guess I'm not used to wearing a gown.” After she had finished saying this, Daphne took my hand and started gesturing to the different areas around us, saying “Did you know they have a petting zoo here? I love animals! Don't worry, I'm sure they don't smell.”. I looked over to the petting zoo she was referring to and saw an array of magical animals and while I was sure that they didn’t smell, visiting it was something I would rather do later if I had a choice. Daphne wasn’t finished yet and she continued by saying “Do you know how to dance? I did it for a while if you'd like to do so now. We should probably get food last so we have time to do other things. But whatever you'd like to do first is fine!”. Well, I sorta knew how to dance and I wouldn’t mind doing so, but I didn’t want to go for the food last and that’s exactly what I was going to tell Daphne if she had given me the chance to speak instead of saying “My apologies. Yes, I am enjoying my evening. This is my first ball and it's more beautiful than I could imagine. Are any of your friends here too?”

I chuckled a bit before turning towards Daphne and saying “Honestly, I have no idea what you just apologized for. I mean, you did absolutely nothing wrong. And if you did, then you apologized for it much too late, otherwise I would’ve remembered it. And to answer your question, the only people I’ve seen here are my brother and his friend and they were in the middle of looking for their dates.” Once I had finished saying that sentence, Daphne said “I must meet your brother one day then, tell him he's lucky to have you as a sibling.” and I replied with “Yup, and I’m just as lucky to have him as my sibling. And as for what I’d like to do, I think a dance sounds pretty appealing right about now, even if I’m not such a good dancer, but after we do it for a bit then we could go over to the petting zoo over there, what do you think about that?”

Rebecca stepped quietly into the crowded courtyard. The fantastical atmosphere was intoxicating, and his eyes glittered sharply in the moonlight as he glanced around.

The decor was brilliant, Rebecca smiled at the whimsical spread of fairy tails represented, and his grin only widened as he spotted the snack table.

He moved at a casual pace further towards the center, but tugged absentmindedly with the collar of his blouse, where he had tied a little ribbon with a bell. It jingled lightly as he walked, a gentle music that was lost in the sounds of laughter and conversation.

He was brightly greeted by a few people, but was able to quickly weave through the crowd, easily slipping between the cracks. As Rebecca made his way towards the drinks, he looked around for any more familiar faces. It seemed that practically the whole school had decided to attend tonight, and Rebecca was struck by how many students he didn’t recognize whatsoever. There were a few closer to his age that he could identify, Jannette Applebottom, EmmaLee LeDames, Daphne, and some older Slytherins that he’d briefly spoken a few words to during meals or in the common room. But most here were still strangers to him.

An older Hufflepuff noticed his gaze and their eyes met, but Rebecca just grinned disarmingly and tipped his head before looking away.

Rebecca snagged a goblet from a long mahogany table and sipped it without examining the liquid. He couldn’t put his finger on the flavor… but it sat a little too sweetly on his tongue for his tastes. The cup was unusually warm in his hands, but he shrugged it off. He was itching to dance, chat, do something, but everyone around him seemed to be paired off.

Briefly, he wished he’d thought of asking Irina to come with him so he’d at least have someone to talk to, but when he’d spotted her earlier she’d been having an animated conversation with someone he didn’t recognize. The bell jingled a little as he leaned on a stone wall at the edge of the party and tilted his head back to look at the starry sky. The moon was nearly full tonight, and it’s soft light now shone onto the glittering costumes of the gathered students.

A shuffling movement in the corner of his eye caught Rebecca’s attention and he noticed a cloaked figure perched on the wall a few meters away— looking a bit like a gargoyle. Rebecca blinked. It was Colin! He’d recognize those bare feet anywhere, although it did look like he’d spruced up a bit for the occasion. He looked a little uncomfortable, but was in conversation with some boy around his age.

Rebecca paused as he noticed the weariness lining Colin’s usually cheery features. The scars were more shadowed in this low light, and Rebecca was reminded of the first night they’d met, when he’d given his speech about Slytherin house in the eerie green light of the common room. He hadn’t been intimidated by the second year then, and he certainly still wasn’t now.

Rebecca saw another Slytherin approach, Violet, who he’d met on his first night and seen in passing during the weeks since. Neither she nor Colin had noticed Rebecca standing there yet, so after a moment’s deliberation, he dumped the rest of his drink into a rose bush behind him and trotted over towards the trio in the shadows, bell jingling as he moved.

Evening, Gentlemen! And Lady!” he greeted, nodding towards the group. “Looking quite sharp!” He cast them all a grin and gave Violet a big thumbs up for her dress.

Lazarus had been anticipating today for quite a while. He had checked everything off of his list, he had practiced what he was going to say, and had done a little refresher on dancing with a professor. He was silently watching Taisia search for him in the distance, and he couldn't help but smile. He had hand-sewed two pairs of fairy wings that they could wear, with shimmering fabric reflecting the light off of the moon. As he saw her become more antsy to find him, he created a shower of green sparks in front of him, that eventually made way for her to see him in his outfit, with the wings attached to his back. He smiled and turned to look at her, and lost his breath. She was more beautiful than he thought she would be in his dress. He held her hand above her head and turned her around, clasping the hand-made wings to the back of her dress once she was facing the other way. "I had the tailor add a special clasp here just to hold these."

Lazarus turned her back around, facing her to get a good look. "You're stunning. Just one more thing.." He then pulled a flower from behind his back, and gently placed it in her hair. "Perfect." He held out his hand, and smiled. "You ready? Let's go."

a few hours after her 'makeover" in the girls lavatory, Reena found herself at the ball. She doubted she would be able to focus on keeping her hair long, but at the moment it was tied back. And she was... with Dove. And it wasnt a date, something reena had made clear before agreeing on going. She glanced at Dove and widened her eyes slightly at the laugh. She shifted and looked around, taking everything in. She had a black mini backpack (not exactly fancy but it was some nice leather) in the bag was her wand, and a locksmith knife (wrapped in bubble wrap and a small case) in the front pocket. That was her one condition..she.wouldnt be coming unless she could have something other than her wand. She also had a first aid kit.

She cleared her throat and looked back at dove. "Uh- yeah." She grimaced slightly as she looked around. "Uh- i dont dance much anymore. " she COULD dance. She knew how to move her body, after all she grew up listening to spanish songs that were so easy to dance to. The music playing didnt really hit her, though.

"Uh." She dropped her hands to her side and took a single step back. She had also brought her cat just because. Honestly at this point, her cat was her emotional support. "Why don't we... uhhh... what else is there to do?"

"Aww, thank you! My mother had it custom made, it is a bit hard to walk in though. Then again I guess I'm not used to wearing a gown." Was she talking too much? Daphne sort of feared that she was speaking too much and not allowing David a chance to get his words in. He sounded pretty cheery though, so she wasn't that worried about scaring him off. Daphne had heard of stories where people's dates would just ditch them, however she trusted David enough to not think about that. He seemed rather mature anyway, not to mention a fellow Hufflepuff. In all honestly, she couldn't think of any flaws about him. "I must meet your brother one day then, tell him he's lucky to have you as a sibling." She beamed and led him over to the dancefloor, not wasting any more time. "That sounds great! I can't wait to talk to you about all the magical creatures there." Once they got into an open area where they wouldn't bump into any of the other dancers, she offered him to take both her hands. "This is alright, yes? Unless you wanted to do some sort of breakdancing." She joked.

Illusia's eyes moved up and down as the person she pointed at turned around. The tall boy's body language was slow and deliberate, and made her second-guess her impulse to confront him. She felt like the boy was a lion sauntering to a watering hole and she was the zebra, not able to relax as long as the predator was present, no matter how uninterested in eating it seemed.

The boy's declaration of innocence sounded like the exact contradiction of that. He could've practically smirked as he said: "I swear you poison one apple and everyone's a critic." Seemingly very charitably, he extended his arm to offer one of the fruit.

Illusia's eyebrow twitched. The boy was joking around. ... Right? It wouldn't do to show her trepidation, that would make her look ridiculous. She strode forward and looked the boy in the eyes while receiving the apple from his hand. She then put the student between herself and the spider and backed up again, with a bit more grace this time.
"Thank you. I'll just stay over here, though", she responded and lifted her hands up, palms towards the sky, while her eyes tracked the spider's whereabouts. Here, some paces away from the both of them where it felt safe, she meant. She hadn't even known a spider could be so attached to a human that it wouldn't try to run away. Just letting it run free as it liked was odd to her. What kind of crazy would do that? Chills ran through her, and not only because of the cold.

She chose to ignore that the boy tried to dispel her worries about the spider afterwards. Especially since she was wearing shiny jewelry. Everything was absolutely not fine. Sure, the spider seemed almost affectionate when it crawled onto the boy's hand when beckoned, and when it let itself be pet, but the boy's tone of voice when he sait it was harmless made her not trust that piece of information at all. She felt herself blush confusedly at his nickname for her, and could've possibly gone even more red at the shame of doing so. The boy was toying with him! She was befuddled, was she supposed to be laughing along or terrified?

"Ha-ha, I see, oh, no problem", she kept answering tersely, nodding along over-enthusiastically as he talked. "A lovely name, for... A lovely pet!" She had to grit her teeth to get that one out of her. "It was a pleasure meeting you, but I uh got to- I'll be seeing you around! Can't keep my friends waiting for too long", she sang, her eyes forming half-moons as she beamed the most dazzling smile she could manage at the student, before she swung around and briskly walked in the opposite direction. She nearly collided with another student in a golden gown, but made a somewhat awkward turn around them and disappeared in the crowd.

Her smile had dropped as soon as she'd turned around. This was a bit severe, what kind of people was she living among? Truthfully, the whole interaction gave her the heebie-jeebies. The boy's smug decadence especially. Although, she had to admit it made her more curious about what kind of person he actually was, even if she'd felt like running as soon as she'd noticed the boy was putting up an act. People like that were hard to predict.

The pastries were really a shame, though. She sulked while slowing her walk down to an idle stroll and looking around the square. She was now near the clearing that was meant for dancing, and she could see all the way to the other side of the courtyard. Maybe she'd get the courage to go over to the food again later if she could find her friends. Where were Tesla, Isadora and Aurora?

She glanced down at the apple she was still grasping in her hand. In comparison to the tasty pastries, this was quite sad. Given up, she took a bite, and another, once she realized how hungry she felt. There was no way the apples were actually poisoned, she now felt silly for taking the student's words literally. She would have to ask around for his name though, not knowing it made referring to him annoying. If only she hadn't been in such a hurry to leave, she could've asked like a normal person.
Actions:Illusia is naively intimidated by Elsian, accepts his apple, and leaves the conversation. Begins searching for her Hufflepuff friends.
