Triathlon: Round 2 Running Summer Camp '22

ACTION Running Level 3 again

It was just one more lap around the boat. How hard could that be? Bloom began to run as though her life depended on it and tried her hardest not to stop. It wasn't until she felt a tight sore right in the middle of her chest that made her stop for a split second. But that second turned into a couple of minutes and her legs had wanted to give out thinking she was done.

No, keep going, she thought to herself as she tried to start up again in a run, but unfortunately, her body gave out. Bloom leaned at the side of the ship and looked down into the water. There were still some people in the water and here she was on the boat on what she hoped to be the final lap. Bloom looked back up at the deck of the ship and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. She knew it would be intense, but Bloom was going to try anyways.

She was going to try to do the lap one more time, in hopes that she would make it. Come on legs, you can do this! she encouraged herself. She took another deep breath, feeling as the sharp pain in her chest resided and she went again for another run around the ship, hoping to make it this time around.

Shamsi, having found his way up to the top of the ship without losing his footing or otherwise making an ass of himself, took a moment to catch his breath under the guise of waiting for Akira to catch up. Deep, slow breaths, meant to force down the rate of his hammering heart.

They were almost at the halfway point of this challenge. How were the other champions doing? The Durmstrang champion had been a no-show, but he knew that at least two other champions were present. Shamsi knew that Howard had powered ahead of him, but where was the other champion. It would be very uncool and totally not cash-money at all if Koldov was so far ahead of them that Shamsi had not even registered them?

"Freaking burning flowers, or whatever shit this is. Shamsi, I'm going to kill you if this gives me a scar."

Shamsi couldn’t help but let out a laugh, all thought and strategy laid aside. Time for rest was over and he had to stay in the moment, or Akira-kun would never let him live it down.

“Don’t. Even.” He retorted, starting the run behind his schoolmate. “Isn’t dodging fire basically like half of dueling people?”

After the laps of swimming and climbing and dodging flying fire hazards, the current challenge almost seemed like a vacation. True, he was tiring; they'd been at it for a while, most of the exertion had been unfamiliar, and the competitive streak that came out only in sports competitions had made Raphael push himself hard, aiming to be at the front of the pack whenever possible, and he'd mostly succeeded. There was a certain amount of satisfaction in the fact that he'd lost sight of Angelique quite some time ago, pulling ahead of his team mate. Having gained recognition as the winner of last year's interschool broom race and then being chosen by the Goblet of Fire to represent Beauxbatons in the Hexwizard Tournament, she provided a bar to measure himself with. At least in this, he was winning.

He pulled past another boy and suddenly found himself in the lead, the deck in front of him empty of other competitors. In broom races, Raph had taught himself to not look behind, even if he was in the lead. It distracted him, might even be dangerous due to high speeds and the obstacles the race course had prepared for him. It obviously wasn't as risky here, but he still stuck to it. Better to look ahead, and stay focused.

Round 3 [ Level III ]

He may be on the strong side, and he may be nimble on his feet, but he certainly wasn’t build to endure so much for so long. Perhaps it was because it’s been a while he had worked out. And the strenuous yet fun activities he had been doing since he joined the event had caused a strain on his energy. Considering he had been doing fairly well all throughout the obstacles until now, he was quite grateful he had a moment to catch his breath. Because sheesh he was heaving. The floor of the deck looked very tempting to just drop his whole body on. It seemed like he wasn’t the only one who failed the complete the lap. The tired state most of them was in was just a sign of their dedication from all their previous hard work they endured up to this point. Now if only he had the extra mental energy to cheer them on. For he was, as mentioned before- ready to drop dead.

Just as soon as he caught his breath, he would focus on the task at hand once more. His rest would feel more wonderful when he had finished all the tasks. His failing to complete this task was just a blessing in disguise. He just needed to keep his spirits up and trust he could carry on.

ROUND TWO LEVEL TWO

Vivienne kept running, doing her best to dodge the fire flowers. They appeared from all directions, and Vivienne couldn't tell whether they were actually magically appearing in her way or whether she just couldn't see them until she was a mere few feet in front of them and had to skid out of the way so she didn't get burnt. Either was plausible, really. Still, she got lucky: they never hit her once. The brunette was honestly extremely proud of her evading skills, because it certainly didn't seem like anyone else was having a good time. She could spare a brief, momentary glance at the other competitors and luck did not seem to be on their side this time around. They were getting singed relentlessly.

As she reached the end of the lap, getting free of the fiery flowers of doom, her motivation increased. The rush of adrenaline she had gotten would hopefully be enough to keep her going until the end, so she could finish this. She wasn't doing too bad so far, and while she wasn't in first place, she wasn't last either. And that was good enough. Even if she didn't manage to come first, second or third, if she finished it, she'd be happy. Taking yet another deep breath, she prepared herself to continue running another lap.

Just as Haven thought she might collapse, she banged into the side of the boat. She supposed it was only fair that her entire body now ached, since her limbs felt like they were about to wither up and fall off. Quite honestly, she wouldn't be shocked if she ended the entire thing with a few less appendages.

People were dropping out left and right, but Haven was determined to finish, even if she lost her hat in the process. Although, she'd much prefer losing a finger or two to her beloved hat. She was towards the back of the pack, but she did her best to worm her way up the ladder and catch up, though at this point, she was likely too far behind. She'd see them once she eventually crawled to the finish line, she supposed.

She dared to pause for only a moment, trying to catch her breath, and made the mistake of looking up. Haven wasn't afraid of heights; rather, she was afraid of the distance she still has to go. She groaned before reluctantly reaching for the next rung on the rusty rail.

It was a good thing she was much too tired for many coherent thoughts, otherwise she would very much be complaining about all of this, although she did sign herself up for this. However, a few words managed to slip through the fogginess, which she muttered out loud:
"Well, caterpillars... Lima beans... if I had a hippopotamus... unfair... meatloaf... left shoelace... garbanzo beans... absolutely not."

I apologize for how chaotic things got! But hopefully everyone enjoyed spending time here and had some kind of fun during the process. Since the summer games are coming to an end now and Sophia went MIA (which is worrying me, as she had plans on HiO so she wouldn't have just left out of nowhere), I'm going to wrap things up by taking the participants that went the farthest in the Triathalon and do a roll to see who gets the highest roll. There are 3 total winners (1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place) in the Triathalon. Tatsu's rolls will determine the order and then rewards will be given.
