Hogwarts Library Ambience
Everything in Hogwarts so far was still surreal to Ash. Being sorted into Gryffindor was already an incredible experience, but now she recently became the newest Prefect of her House. Seriously, how did this happen? Her stepdad did explain to her what a Prefect is and Ash thought the duties they do were quite admirable. So when Ash heard that one Prefect position was currently vacant, she didn't really expect anything and decided to just apply for the position. Only a week later, Ash was informed by her Head of House that she had been chosen as their new Prefect of the House. Because of that, Ash couldn't sleep well last night due to the pressure.

Can a Muggle-born like her be a good Prefect? Can she handle all these responsibilities? What if she messed up? What if other students won't listen to her or will they even take her seriously?

Ash was never the type to back down, when it happened she would rather move forward and see what she could do from now on.

Oh right! I was planning on to pay a visit at the library to find some books about Herbology.

The moment Ash entered the library, she could already smell the scent of the old books and wooden shelves, prickling her nose. Inside the Hogwarts library, there were many bookshelves that housed countless books, and each self nearly reached the ceiling of the library. Quite similar to one of the libraries she once visited with her mom in Ireland, like the Long Room at Trinity College, for example. Minus the magic, of course. Ash then saw stacks of books floating around, when she was in the way, the books would simply float to the other side. A lot of students from different houses quietly doing their homework and some studied diligently at the study desks and tables.

Unlike the Muggle libraries where they could provide computers for people to look up for the books they need in the catalog. Hogwarts library was clearly a "medieval library". Ash could only search for a librarian assistant who happens to be a house elf and ask them where to find the Herbology sections. The librarian assistant was nice enough to show her the way to the Herbology section. She thanked the house elf for their assistance, then turned around to look up at the huge dark wooden bookshelf in front of her. "Alright...let's see what books I can find here...", Ash used a nearby ladder and started to read each book on the top row of the bookshelf.

It took a while for her to find a few books about magical plants and flowers that interested her the most, and she couldn't wait to read them at the study desk. Feeling very excited, Ash carefully climbed down the ladder, but when she took a quick turn to the right, she bumped into someone and the stack of books in her arms dropped to the ground. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!", Ash quickly apologized first, and hoped she didn't hurt the person who she accidentally bumped into.

After her last class of the day Illusia had set down her books on her little mahogany desk that took up all the space between her bed and the door of her private bedroom, and for once she hadn't know what to do next. The first weeks of school had felt like a barrage of things needing to be learned and things that ought to be done. Maybe it was the novelty of it all that made it seem like she couldn't catch a break. However, now that she had no plans with new friends for the day, no homework to do, and hand't yet heard of the latest popular spot for the First Years to explore on the castle grounds, she was at a loss for what to do. That's when she remembered she did have something she wanted to do, she just didn't have time to consider it in the previous days.

She'd been to the library a few times before, but she still felt new as she was travelling between the high shelves. The place felt magical, and it wasn't just the atmosphere of a beautiful old library, it was all the magic between the pages of the books. So much of it, waiting for her to just open and read. Today, Illusia was here on what she felt was slightly more boring business, to find a good beginner's book about Herbology. They hadn't been required to buy Herbology books before the start of the school year, which made her a bit worried as a student who liked to cram before exams. If the subject classes were to be very practical, she would surely have a hard time.

It took asking an older student to find the way to the correct part of the library. The library was big, or rather long, and after five minutes of searching she'd figured someone was bound to know the place a little better than herself. She still felt a little more grown, walking alone in her casual clothes among other students who were doing their own important research, than she did when she was at home and going to a library with her mother. She was wearing a grey sweatshirt with a white shirt collar peaking from underneath, already having mastered layering to a T. Old castles tended to be cold and clammy, even despite housing a bunch of powerful wizards, it seemed.

"Oof", was the sound that came out her mouth when she came into collision with a person she wasn't aware of just a second ago. Well, she didn't expect for someone from up on a ladder to drop onto her path.
"Oh no!" Illusia cried out when the student's stack of books spilled on the floor. The other student's own exclamation and apologies were met with a quick placating answer:
"No, it's alright! I didn't look where I was going. Here, I'll help", she said, reaching down to pick up a book, when she saw the cover of it.
"Uh... Herbology? Seems like I've come to the right shelf", she muttered, taking in the name and subtitle as she straightened up.
"I'm really sorry for bumping into you, I was finding the Herbology books as well. My name's Illusia."

She looked fully at the girl in front of her. It was the new Gryffindor prefect! Illusia gaped at her little stack of books. This person was very ambitious to be a first year prefect, no wonder she wasn't content with just one book of herbs.
"From Hufflepuff", she clarified. It felt like the right thing to say now that she didn't have her school uniform on.

Ash immediately noticed the person who she accidentally bumped into was a girl who seemed to be her age. She wasn't wearing her school robe, so it was hard to tell which house she was from. At that very moment, Ash was mentally prepared to be shouted at for her clumsiness, but surprisingly, she didn't lash out at her. Instead, the girl was quite understanding and even offered to help pick up the fallen books from the ground.

Before Ash could thank her, she watched the girl with unruly hair took a brief moment by looking at the cover of the book, which clearly piqued her interest. She then straightened up and told her that she was looking for Herbology books as well. The girl didn't forget to introduce herself to her and clarified that she was from the Hufflepuff.

"Oh? What a coincidence.", her eyes light up in surprise. "It's really nice to meet you, Illusia. And please, I should be the one to apologize. My name is Ashleigh, you can call me Ash for short if you like. From Gryffindor." Well, it should be quite obvious because she was wearing her school robe, but she felt like it was still polite to mention her own house.

Ash was a bit relieved that the girl seemed to be a nice person, or perhaps most Hufflepuffs were indeed, as her stepdad once described to her, the nicest and hardworking students of Hogwarts. Not to mention, her stepdad was a Hufflepuff himself.

"So...", Ash thought for a while then asked, "If you don't mind...since you're also looking for Herbology books, maybe we can read these books together."

She slightly lifted the stack of books up in front of Illusia, implying that they can read the books she had. "I think reading them together will certainly be fun, and we can definitely discuss all about the magical plants. What do you think, Illusia?"
