Alma’s inner voice was yelling at her to not go confront the scary-looking Gryffindoor who was flying outside of the Quidditch pitch. It wasn’t her business! And, so far, confrontation with the older years had gotten her 1. In a train car with a sobbing second year, 2. Flying practice with the oddly intimidating Broom Racing captain, and 3. Helping June Selwyn out of the locked bathroom stall.

Had she learned her lesson, she’d have ignored the girl and simply kept practicing. But Alma was never one to look on the downside, thinking that maybe this girl just wasn’t aware of the rules and needed someone to let her know!

Something in the back of her brain was telling her that maybe something good could come out of it. She could prevent the girl from getting in trouble and maybe even earn a new friend! Everyone else she met was wonderful, why wouldn’t this girl be?

She glided from the Quidditch pitch where she was at over to the grounds to the girl. She looked around a third-year, with gorgeous black hair and beautiful orchid eyes. “Um, excuse me? Sorry to bother you, but i’m not sure flying on the grounds is allowed,” she said, trying to look really anywhere but the other girl to avoid negative confrontation.

“Would you like to come fly over at the pitch with me? I don’t want you to get in trouble for this…I’m just coming from some solo Quidditch practice, maybe we could head over there and talk?”

She smiled at the girl, offering something nice in indication that she meant no harm.

Terrible Presence is in effect.

The autumn breeze of the crisp Scottish weather tousled Regina's raven curls and pinked her cheeks as she soared above Hogwarts grounds on her polished, fancy Moontrimmer, clad in a slightly oversized black shirt, red checkered skinny trousers and black platforms. The warmth that had been in the wind just last week had either evaporated into the sky or leached into the earth. Whereas most third year and above students were already tittering among glasses of Butterbeer in Hogsmade, Regina was observing the Forbidden Forest in silence from where she hovered slowly, mind racing with possibilities and schemes. How exhilarating it would be to toe that dangerous line and venture into a place restricted from all unauthorised outsiders.

She'd already burnt the warning letter her father had owled her about receiving two detentions in the span of two weeks, all during the first month of school. The teen had wanted to laugh sardonically - not once had Alfred Miller even bothered to write to her when she was still 'the perfect daughter' for the last two years. Now that she'd become the fresh new school rebel, he was suddenly so involved in her life. The fact made Regina felt more triumphant than hurt and belittled. Pain was not a new notion to her. If obeying expectations was not enough for her Father, then she'd certainly make him notice her now.

Regina was pulled out of her thoughts when a voice called out to her from the ground. Orchid purple eyes landed on the form of a short brown-haired girl with blunt bangs who couldn't possibly looked older than 11. A familiar surge of contempt flooded her senses as she held on tighter to her broom and took a quick lap as a challenge after the kid had mentioned about flying being prohibited out of the Quidditch Pitch, gaze sharpening into a glare.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?" The Gryffindor drawled as she came to a stop in front of the brunette, chin lifted condescendingly. "Do I look like somebody who cares about the rules to you?"

She raised an eyebrow at the befriending attempt that followed. This girl was surely naive to expect any stranger to be kind.

"Do you even know how to ride that? Can you fly or do you just know how to mount and hover not two inches above the floor?" Regina taunted, the ghost of a smirk on her full plump lips as she very obviously positioned herself to show her Moontrimmer's brand name glinting in the light, putting the other girl's school broom to shame.

She knew from the proposition that the younger student was most likely on the Quidditch Team, but she was honestly aiming more to provoke than anything.

Alma was taken aback by the girl’s blunt response. “Well…I suppose you’re right, i’m not exactly one to tell you what to do..” She didn’t even know what to say, the poor Hufflepuff surprised that she had finally met someone who wasn’t sweet as apple pie.

She huffed at her next words. Sure, Alma wasn’t the best flier, but she could surely fly better than what the girl was accusing. She looked down to the ground where they were, indeed, hovering much more than two inches off the ground. “This looks a bit more than two inches to me. Cool broom though! I don’t have enough money for a new one yet…”

“Oh, and i’m a good enough flier to get on the Quidditch team, at least; if that tells you something. Now, can we please go back to the pitch before we get in trouble? I’m not exactly keen on breaking the rules, and I don’t want you to land yourself in detention.”

She looked around nervously again, scared that a prefect or maybe a professor was watching. She was quite keen on keeping her perfect track record intact, and that couldn’t happen if she was seen with this oddly standoffish girl flying on the grounds.

“I mean, would it really kill you to come back to the pitch with me? Maybe we could be friends!”

Regina's upper lip curled into a sneer in response to the Quidditch girl.

"Well, aren't you a clever one? At least you're wittier than you look."

She circled the brunette again, displaying an apathetic attitude concerning the blatant rule-breaking. So what if she'd land in detention because of some uptight, snobbish Prefect who thought they could control her? If anything, she'd gladly follow along and make the session a living hell for whoever who dared. It only served as another step up the ladder for Regina, who aimed to build a fearsome reputation and satisfy her resentment against her father. It didn't matter if she'd be branded as a delinquent, so long as the people knew there was nothing they could do to even make her care.

"And what makes you think I would ever be friends with a meek little sheep like you?" The raven-haired Gryffindor scoffed, flying higher as if she was taunting someone to notice their presence. "I do not take interest in prigs who think of themselves as morally superior because they follow the bloody rules."

Although usually Regina kept to herself, she never took kindly to those who attempt to confront her the wrong way. This girl reminded her of a certain Hufflepuff Prefect who had fallen prey to her merciless prowess once. There was a twinkle of malice inside her purple eyes when she thought of how she could turn this stranger into a new torment victim. Merlin knew things could get quite boring here at times. It would be delightful to watch how this encounter turn out.

"I will make a deal with you, Little Miss Prissy," Regina said as she came to a halt in mid-air. "Prove to me you're not as a bad of a flier as you claim to be in a race, and I may consider to leave with you in good terms. If you lose, however...I suppose I shall grab the attention of some patrolling Prefects and drag you into trouble with me, hm?"

To emphasise her point, Regina's aspen wand was drawn from her pocket before she gave it a little wave, making small green sparks pop into existence. With just one word, everybody was going to notice the Verdimilious and their position would be compromised.

Of course, should the brunette refuse...she'd do it anyway, and get them both in detention.

Dialogue: X | Action: Freaking out, per usual
Alma giggled just a bit at the prospect of the first nice thing the Gryffindoor said to her also being a completely backhanded compliment. This was unfortunate though, as the laughable thought kept a small smile on her face as the girl rose higher to try and appear taunting. She wasn’t trying to provoke the girl further.

“Okay, well- Firstly, I do not think i’m superior to anyone. Quite the opposite in fact - i’m at least mediocre enough to make the team, and i’m even surprised at that so, do with that what you will.” Even the thought of being ‘superior’ to anyone, even morally, felt horribly wrong to her. “And second, ‘meek little sheep’ seems a bit harsh, don’t you think? I think, ‘What’s your name?’ might be a good start.”

Although she frowned at ‘Little Miss Priss’, the thought of possibly winning the girl over sparked some hope. But, alas, not everything can go her way as the proposed challenge was a race. A broom race. Just without the flying projectiles. She wasn’t horribly good at those at all. “Hold on just a minute, isn’t there anything else we can do?!”

She paled at the threat, stopping and making sure she didn’t actually follow through with the sparks charm. Then, Alma did a quick check with a swerve of her head to make sure no one was looking. “Okay! O-Okay, i’ll do the race, can you- can you just please put the wand away?” she pleaded.
