I was, once again, trying to find another class. And once again, I was lost. I decided not to go on the moving stairs, and did the manual work of wandering around the corridors. People were walking to and fro, talking about the upcoming ball, classes, and more. I bit my lip and looked around, asking people for directions(some didn't give me any). I ran a hand through my hair and looked around again. I raced down an almost empty corridor and cracked open random, unlocked doors to see if I could find the Charms classroom. This proved to be a mistake. Having been yelled at angrily by somebody, I bolted for the moving stairs, while the portraits all looked at me curiously as I attempted to get to the stairs before they started moving. I want to yell at whoever made them, the stairs were never a great idea! Once I hopped onto the next row of stairs, I held on as the familiar turbulence took over. I might be on the 3rd floor...? I didn't see many students, which was good, because I was determined to not be late to this next class. Unfortunately, as I rounded another corner, there was a WHAM! as the familiar sensation of crashing into someone hard hit me. Once again, my bag ripped open and a flurry of ink bottles, parchment, schoolbooks, and quills tumbled out. I fell onto the floor. I wanted to scream. "Argh! Not again!" I yelled. I looked at the person who had smashed into me and narrowed my eyes at them.

Nicole was lost.

Hopelessly, terribly lost. Of course, she'd known the castle could be confusing--one look at the inside, with all its' hallways and staircases, had been enough for that. But she'd assumed she'd be okay. Follow classmates if she really needed to. As it would turn out, it was pretty easy to suddenly loose track of everybody, and suddenly find yourself completely alone. Asking for directions was a definite no. Everyone was just...so intimidating. Nicole had always been shy, and it didn't help that she had been thrown into a totally unfamiliar environment.

If only Juliette was here... Her loud, overconfident sister would have made this seem like it was no big deal, and she would have asked for directions like it was no big deal, too. But Juliette wasn't here; she was at her own school, being her usual dramatic self, probably. But Nicole would give anything for her to be here right now.

Just then, as she rounded a corner, she slammed directly into somebody. Her stuff went flying, and the other person's did, too. As Nicole looked up from her spot on the floor, she realized the person she'd collided with was, in fact, a girl about her age with red hair. The girl let out a yell of frustration, and Nicole found herself agreeing. Could this day get any worse?

"I'm so sorry!" Nicole exclaimed, jumping to reach for the girl's fallen stuff. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?"

Today was not off to a great start--and now she would almost certainly be late, too. Plus, she'd made someone else late, and the girl most likely wouldn't be interested in anything to do with Nicole after this. How could I mess up this badly?

Nothing today was going Nicole's way. And it looked like it would continue to stay on that path--at this point, Nicole would count herself lucky if she survived the year.

After the newest Prefect of Gryffindor house finished her very first patrol in the Gryffindor girls dormitory, she quickly went back to her own dorm room to pick up her textbooks and writing supplies, then simply just shove everything into her big vintage leather bag. Ash needed to be quick because she was about to have her first charm class very soon, it wouldn't be great to have a bad impression for being late. Ash was also very excited, because today she would finally get to learn how to cast a spell! Definitely something she would look forward to.

When standing in front of the moving staircases. Ash was still amazed, seeing so many lively enchanted portraits on the stone wall, and hearing the cheerful laughs and greetings from the friendly ghosts around them. Ash was lucky enough that her stepdad, who was once a student of Hogwarts, told her some details of the structure of the castle, so she wouldn't easily get lost. If she remembered correctly, the Charms classroom should be on the third floor. All Ash had to do was wait patiently when the staircase moved towards her, so she could walk down as fast as she could before it change its direction. There was a time she wondered why the wizarding builders of this castle wanted enchanted staircases that move every time. Wouldn't that be unpractical? It kinda felt like in a video game she played with her Muggle friends, where the characters like Mario who had to jump on the moving objects in order to move forward. Well, perhaps a wizard might think differently than a Muggle, she guessed.

But when Ash arrived at the second floor, she suddenly heard a young girl's yell in the corridors and thought they might have gotten hurt or something, so the Gryffindor Prefect decided to investigate the source of the sound. Rounding a corner, Ash found two girls who looked about her age were both on the ground with books and other items scattered around them. It was clear to her that the two girl must have accidentally bumped into each other. "Are you two alright? Did anyone get hurt?", without hesitation, Ash walked towards them, then crouched down to help pick up their stuff. "Here, let me help too.", Ash said to them with a warm smile. While the blond girl was already gathering things for the girl with ginger hair. She also helped gather the stuff of the other girl and handed them to her.

Nicole was busy picking up her spilled inkpot (which had, unfortunately, shattered in the fall--and Nicole didn't trust herself with a spell to fix it or wipe up the ink), when a girl she had never seen before that looked to be about her age rounded the bend, and came up on the mess of books, quills, ink, and everything else from their bags scattered in the hallway.

"Is everyone alright?" The unfamiliar brunette girl asked. "Did anyone get hurt?"

"No--or, at least, I'm alright." Nicole paused as she bent to grab a book. Thankfully, the books seemed to have avoided the ink spill--seemed to have. There was still plenty of things left in the hallway, and Nicole supposed anything could have fallen victim to the spill. If something had, Nicole hoped it would be her own things. Mama would be upset about the cost, but at least it would be her own property, and she wouldn't have damaged the ginger girl's.

"Here, let me help, too." The brunette girl crouched down and began to help pick up the mess, smiling warmly at them.

"Thank you," Nicole said gratefully, picking up one of her quills and placing it back in her bag. Mon dieu My God, how far had things been spread? Hopefully, she would not only make it to class ("on time" was a goal slipping farther and farther from her), but she would make it to class with all of her possessions.

"I'm Nicole, by the way," she added. "Nicole Richards, a first year Ravenclaw." It was an odd place for introductions--the middle of the hallway, surrounded by their possessions--but Nicole figured it was a good a place as any. After all, she thought, a bit sarcastically, what better place than surrounded by a mess you helped make?

At the very least, she would have an interesting story to write home about. And a good excuse to her professor as to why she was showing up so late.

The person I had collided with was a girl about my age with blonde hair. "I'm so sorry!" she said, then, "Oh, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" I nodded yes, then shakily got to my feet, my robes stained with ink. Again. "I'm sorry," I mumbled. This was turning out to be an awful day. "Why does this keep happening to me...?" I said quietly as I picked up my stuff. Then, getting my bearings, I said, "I'm sorry about that. Are you alright...? I'm sorry, what's you're name?" That's when another girl came around. She looked like a first year. "Are you two alright? Did anyone get hurt?" I shook my head, mumbled that I was fine, and gathered my things, and the other girl's things. Then she said, ""I'm Nicole, by the way." "Nicole Richards, a first year Ravenclaw." I smiled and said, "Hi, Nicole! I'm Aurora Griffith, a first year Hufflepuff, but people usually call me Ro." These collisions may be incredibly annoying in every way possible and waste lots of time, but in a way, I really liked them. This way, I guess that was meeting new people every day?

Both girls replied to Ash that they were fine and not injured anywhere (hopefully...). While Ash was helping them to pick up their fallen stuff, she noticed the ink didn't spill onto their textbooks and other supplies, which was kind of lucky, but it would be a pain for the poor House elves to clean the spilled ink from the floor. The Gryffindor Prefect could already imagine the grumpy expressions on those House elves' faces when mopping the floor.

The girl with long blond hair thanked Ash for her assistance and introduced herself to her as Nicole Richards from Ravenclaw House, and a first year like her. Then the other girl with ginger hair, who had been a bit quiet for a short while, finally introduced herself to them as Aurora Griffith, nickname Ro, a Hufflepuff and also a first year student.

"Wow, this is certainly an interesting coincidence. I'm a first year too, just like you guys. The name is Ashleigh Hazelwood, but you can call me Ash if you like. A Gryffindor and the newest Prefect of my house." Ash introduced herself to the girls with a big grin on her face and even showed them the shiny silver and purple Prefect badge on the right side of her school robe. It was really exciting to meet new students who happened to be the same year. "Aurora, Nicole, it's really nice to meet two! Oh, since we're all first years...are you actually on your way to the Charms class? If yes, the Charms classrooms are on the third floor. We're currently on the second floor in the corridors." Ash said, and she would wait for the two girls to answer. She hoped they have Charms as well, so they can go to class together, however, there was still the possibility that they might not be taking the same class.

Ther red-haired girl introduced herself as Aurora Griffith, or Ro, also a first year, and a Hufflepuff. When she mentioned her name, Nicole immediately thought of the princess, Sleeping Beauty. Clearly, she'd read a few to many fairytales--Ro probably got that quite a bit, and was tired of hearing it.

"That's such a pretty name," she said to Ro, not mentioning anything about the fairytale.

The brunette girl introduced herself next, as Ashleigh Hazelwood, or Ash (also a pretty name, Nicole thought), a first year as well, coincidently, and a Gryffindor. "It's nice to meet you both," she said. Then, when she mentioned she was the newest prefect of her house. "Really? That's really impressive--as a first year, too."

When Ash asked if they were on their way to Charms, Nicole nearly sighed with relief. Thank goodness--here was someone who probably knew how to navigate the castle. She proved this by, a moment later, telling the girls where they were, and where the Charms classroom was. "Oh, thank you," she said gratefully. "To tell you the truth, I had no idea where I was--it would have been a miracle if I made it to class."

Now, hopefully, they could all just go together--if Ro had charms--and avoid any further mishaps.
