Small Frogs in a Big Hall
Athena kept her eyes on the frog who seemed to be wiggling less, and less and less. She was trying to ignore the sounds of the frogs jumping around the room every which way. She was not trying to bump into the boy who had grew on her, who she had kissed (here). What she did do though, was bump into the excited Slytherin, who was showing off his frogs to a first year Griffindor. If she had been paying attention she might have noticed where she was going, but alas, she did.
“Oof! Oh, a—hi.” she stuttered, feeling quite embarrassed as she stepped back. She held the almost dead frog as far away from her as possible as she corrected herself. “Hi, Colin. Hi, uhh—” she glanced at the younger boy who’s name started with a…T? No, it was a K. ‘Key’ something. Keith! “Keith! Hello, Keith.” she was proud of her good memory skills, being able to place his name with his face among the many others she had acquired in her years, though most came from Hogwarts. “Sorry for crashing into you guys.” she apologized, not sure whether the embarrassment radiating off of her was worth the chocolate frogs. Still, she held the frog tight, thinking it to late to run out. She’d already forced herself into it, and she was determined to make it count.WC: 228

Please Bear with me as I work on getting a second year banner || by: Siena Lenoir
Just as Quinn was starting daggers into the frog who was just sitting there, A girl walked up. Had to be a first year, Quinn quickly got up off the floor. To properly introduce herself. She let Lily finish speaking before she would start. "Hello Lily, frisbee! I'm Quinn Root. But you can call me Quinn." she smiled.
"I do believe I saw you at the slytherin table. How do you like it so far here? I would love your help to nab this bloody frog." she glared at it again. "Yes. Im speaking about you!" it may have been childish but she stuck her tongue out at it.
She thought for a long minute about what she could do to grab this little guy. Her cat was an option. She could use some magic... To much? There was this Lily, she could use her help and frisbee.
She had an idea! And it wasn't to bad she didn't think so at least. "lily you and frisbee can chase it into a corner. Or at least make it stand still. And I could float it up in the air!"
there was probably a better solution. Well there had to be one...

Small Frogs in a Big Hall
When the professor of Care of Magical Creatures told them that anyone who caught a frog after dinner got a chocolate frog, Bailey of course had to stay!
Who was she to turn down free food, especially chocolate!
plus catching frogs isn’t that hard. I used to do it all the time in the meadow out back behind our house! Bailey remembered running barefoot through the meadow with her brothers, catching frogs and then letting them go, watching them hop away. Just the memories made her smile, and laugh a little.
Seeing that a few other people, @Kim Sato, @Sebastian Sorrel and @Harper Jordan to mention a few, had stayed back also, Bailey was encouraged.
Putting her bag on the table, Bailey looked around for a frog to catch. Hearing a holler, Bailey looked over to see @Keith Moore and @Colin McCoire catching frogs together. Smiling at that, Bailey turned and looked for a frog of her own.
why did I chose these boots with heels? bailey wondered, thinking of the boots she was wearing. They were quite comfortable, but she was afraid for the frogs, worried she would step on one.
Looking around, Bailey spotted a frog hopping under a bench.
“Hehe here I come little froggie…” bailey said, chasing it.
Just as she was about to catch it, it hopped just out of her reach. It was square under the table, and there was no graceful way for her to reach it.
Moving the bench out of the way, she reached forward, only for the frog to leap out the other side of the table.
Signing, Bailey got up and walked around the table.
why.. what does this frog have against me?
Walking briskly, Bailey snuck up behind it and scooped it up. Cradling it in her hands, Bailey walked over to @Tala Takagi and dropped the frog in the tank.
“There’s a frog- is it ok if I try and catch another? This brings back so many good memories of chasing the frogs in the back yard at my house in, well outsides of Leeds.”
Waiting for a reply, Bailey turned and saw a few other people she recognized, including @Quinn Root, @Lily Blaze, and @Damion White. She seemed to see Damion at every errand, a fact that made Bailey laugh.
Smiling, Bailey made her way back to catch another frog.
There were two frogs hopping together towards the entrance to the great hall.
Running to catch up with them, her robes streaming out behind her bailey caught up to them. Her footsteps only made them hop faster, and she had to go around them to corner then between a bench and a table and the wall. Scooping them both up, Bailey struggled to get them to stay still as she walked back to the tank to drop them off.
When she was almost there, one of them hopped out of her hand.
Sighing, Bailey dropped one off in the tank and went to get the other one.
“Here’s one frog- the other hopped out of my hand. I’m going to get it now.”
Chasing after the runaway frog, the heels on her boots clicked on the floor.
“Of course you had to run off. Why did you not just stay in my hands with your buddy?”
Sighing again, Bailey smiled exasperated at the frog. “And now I’m taking to frogs. I think I’m going crazy.”
Smiling bailey went and plopped her third frog in the tank.
“There you go professor! That’s three frogs! If you want me to get more, I can! I’m having quite a lot of fun too! Thank you!!”

Harper had to focus extremely hard on the task at hand. She found that her eyes seemed to wander to the many students that were now helping out with the frog catching. She was glad that they stepped in to help as well. It would be terrifying if some of the frogs got away and she ran into one in the hallway on the way to one of her classes. She shuttered at the thought of that.
After losing focus she realized that her frog had gotten away and she let out a very annoyed sigh. That meant that she had to take a look around for another frog, and hopefully she wouldn't lose another frog because that would be beyond embarrassing. She looked around and found a frog hidden underneath a table it seemed to be terrified and hiding from all of the feet running around the Great Hall. She couldn't say that she blamed the frog, it was so tiny and was probably extremely terrified seeing giants run around all over the place.
She carefully watched the frog, seeing that it seemed to be pretty content on staying in one spot. She took a deep breath and went to the other side of the table so that she could come up behind the frog and it wouldn't suspect her.
At this point, she really wished that she had gloves to pick of the frog because it was extremely gross and slimy, but, she didn't exactly plan on helping chase a bunch of frogs this morning, so, she of course, didn't bring gloves to help her with the task.
After sneaking behind the frog, she quickly snatched it up and grabbed it just below its front legs. She was probably not carrying it the right way, but at this point she didn't care she just wanted to hurry up and give the frog to Professor Takagi because it was beginning to gross her out. She carefully and quickly carried the frog to her. She had to avoid many students who were carelessly running after frogs themselves.
After finally reaching Professor Takagi Harper quickly handed over the frog trying not to act too disgusted by the situation. She watched as many others were giving frogs to her as well so, she figured she might as well leave, she wasn't sure that she could pick up another frog, it was too gross!

────────────────────────────────────────The shrieking that rings out through the hall is the first, rather abrupt, clue that something was amiss. As Avery lifts her gaze from where she'd been absentmindedly poking at her shepherd's pie with her fork to see what the commotion was all about, the second clue made itself known. A cool sensation alights on the hand with the fork. Looking down, the Hufflepuff is greeted with the sight of a small frog clinging onto the back of her hand.
She blinks down at it in confusion before taking a closer look around at the chaos that's erupted around the Great Hall. Sure enough, the hall had something of an infestation of the small critters. Avery watched as a couple of nearby students fled a handful of frogs that hopped too close with a brow lifted in confusion. They were...so small and adorable. Though, she supposed that could also have to do with the fact that she'd grown up catching frogs with her siblings along the shores of the nearby creek that passed their farm. Still.
At the shouted instructions from one of the professors near the front of the hall, Avery looks back at the frog on her hand with slightly renewed interest. Chocolate frogs for catching some frogs? Not a bad deal at all. Carefully setting down her fork, she slowly reaches for the frog with the other hand. The Hufflepuff carefully cups the frog in her palm and scoops it into the other hand. "Hey there, little guy. Going on an adventure are we?" Using her cup of water she carefully wets both hands a little without releasing the detainee, wanting to make sure she doesn't harm the frogs with dry hands.
She clutches the hand with the frog against the front of her robes as she slides off of the bench at the Hufflepuff table. Only enough attention to not be run into by fleeing students is paid to them, her gaze focused on the floor and tables for anything small and amphibian. There was a slight relief that the frogs at least seemed like they were regular frogs. She wasn't exactly sure what magical frogs would entail, and there was no real rush to find out an answer to that.
A flash of green brings Avery to a halt. She crouches down and peers underneath the Ravenclaw table. Another individual of the swarm is taking small hops along the length of the table, pausing momentarily between each jump as if in hesitation. With the one frog still clutched to her chest, Avery drops down onto her knees to shuffle partially under the table. She repeats the motions from before, though the moving target provides its own difficulties. It takes a moment to get the timing right. And even then, it doesn't exactly go to plan.
Just as she's moving to grab it a student rushes past and the frog startles. It manages to leap straight passed the Hufflepuff, the suddenness of the movement startling her. She tries to turn quickly to follow and winds up clocking the top of her head into the hard wood of the table with a resounding thunk. The first year releases a slight hiss of pain and a handful of quiet curses at the dull ache as she shuffles, far more carefully, towards the frog she'd had her sights on. It sits just behind her, observing the going-ons of the hall with beady little eyes. With it in reach, she's able to grab hold of it in one deft movement.
It joins the first frog cupped against her robes to keep them from escaping once more. By this point, there seems to be only a few straggling frogs left roaming the hall in search of freedom. Satisfied that they'll be caught by some of the other students that had joined the search, Avery turns her sights up towards the front. The Hufflepuff picks her way up towards the professor's seating and the tank that had apparently been designated for the frogs. She offers a brief smile to the professor that was apparently overseeing the frog roundup as she deposits the two she'd gathered back into the tank.────────────────────────────────

Keith was so excited to catch frogs, he wanted to keep some, but he knew he wouldn't be allowed. He looked at Colin as he got up. "Come one!" Keith said, he was so happy to catch frogs with Colin. He was surprised when Colin hugged him briefly, though happy, he liked hugs from friends. Keith was turning when a Hufflepuff girl bumped into him.
He looked at her, "sorry. Are you staying to collect some more of these little guys?" He said holding up his frog, he thought they were cool creatures. He saw she was holding one too!
"It's fine!" Keith said before running off to collect more frogs. He was having so much fun.
Keith carefully dodged the frogs all over the floor, as he made his to the front of the room. he carefully put the frog into the tank and said, "There you go little guy, back where you belong." He stood all the way up and looked at the professor, "There you go, I'm off to collect more!" And with that, he made his way down the steps and back to chasing frogs. He carefully made his way around, he saw Bailey had stayed to help. He also saw Avery, who had introduced Bailey to him.
Keith turned to look where Colin was when a frog landed on his shoulder, "Well you little guys are making this to easy! Come on, to the tank you go."
Keith walked carefully walked back to the tank, avoiding stepping on the remaining frogs. He nodded at the professor, and set the frog in the tank.

Small Frogs in a Big Hall

If Clair had known about the frogs she would have been more prepared.
But alas she had not known at all, so when she had entered the hall with her arms full of book she had been rather surprised to see all the frogs jumping around, she had missed dinner due to studying so she was not sure if there was a reason for the millions of frogs to be running around.
Clair went to the nearest table and put her books down, before deciding to try to catch the frogs, she could see some other students catching frogs, or at least attempting to catch them.
She got ready to swoop down and catch a tiny one that was sitting near her feet, as she bent down it hopped away, feeling rather silly she called out, "Come here Froggy! Froggy! Froggy!" She waved at the frog like a teach waves to a scared kindergarten child.
"Little Froggy! I'm not scary, come here!" She swooped towards the frog, which was ignoring her completely. And picked it up, it squirmed in her hands, it's clammy skin felt weird on her hands, and for some weird reason Clair wanted to pat it.
She put the little frog in her pocket, safe from where the little thing could get hurt.

Small Frogs in a Big Hall
A sudden sound of screams went through the great hall on a Wednesday evening, towards the end of September. Beatrice had been enjoying a peaceful dinner but when all of a sudden Students started to jump on tables or run out of the Hall, everything started to become a mess. Frogs where jumping around the great hall, up on benches and tables. Some of them tried to flee under tables and out of the room. Beatrice almost laughed, still sitting in her seat as everyone corrupted into Panic. One Professors, that stood in front of the tank that the frogs came out of, yelled something about Chocolate frogs.
Beatrice wanted to get up and try to catch some but before she was able to, two of the Frogs jumped onto her lap, trying to escape the mess themselves. Before she could grab them, they jumped out of her lap, over the table and under the Gryffindor table, making Beatrice follow them. She jumped up on the bench, taking a step and jumping from the table down onto the floor again. Beatrice stepped over the bench ducked down and found herself on her knees under the Gryffindor table, still seeing the two frogs. They were already pretty far away but somehow Beatrice was now determined to get them.
She basically crawled over the stone floor, trying to not knock into other students that had apparently also followed frogs under the tables. The two frogs still jumped together, in the direction of the door. Another student that Beatrice didn't know lifted the table cloth and rushed down beside her, almost smashing the frog they where following. Beatrice let the Person through before she started to crawl again, faster this time. Her tights surely got a few holes from the rough stone floor under her knees.
She almost had her hands on the two frogs when both of them jumped to the left and out into the open. Beatrice slithered after them over the floor beneath the benches and found herself on her stomach, half of her body still covered from the bench and table. She pushed herself up, almost getting knocked over by someone who was obviously trying to escape the great hall.
The two frogs weren't that far away anymore and Beatrice knew that she could reach them a lot better now. She slowly stepped closer to them, hoping they wouldn't starts moving.
»Well.. Hello little Frogs.« She said. »Do you wanna go back into your tank? I'm sure you do. You're scared, aren't you?« Beatrice basically whispered.
They seemed to be completely still. She was now so close, the tips of her shoes could almost touch the frogs. She bend down very slowly, reaching her hands for them. Then they jumped. They were gone so fast, Beatrice couldn't even try to catch them. She groaned, standing up again and burying her face in her hands, obviously frustrated. She took a deep breath and looked around again. She saw Students that held frogs in their hands, carefully bringing them over to the tank and other Students that hid out on the tables. A group of seventh year boys stood up on a table as well. Beatrice honestly thought no one would be scared of a few frogs, but apparently she was wrong.
In the mess of frogs and students she finally found her frogs again. Well.. not hers, but the ones she had been following. She started to jog over to them determined to not let them escape again. When she was close enough, she jumped at the same time as the frogs. She landed on her stomach, slithering over the floor and to her surprise, catching the two frogs in her hands. She held on to them, but not to tight.
Her head rested on the floor for a few seconds before she stood up, carrying the the two frogs with her robes and hands so they wouldn't jump out. She carefully made her way up to the Teachers table, putting the two Frogs back into the Tank, before she gave the Professor in front of her a smile and wandered off to catch some more.
»Finally.« She whispered, rolling up her sleeves as she watched the mess still unfolding in front of her.

Small Frogs in a Big Hall
Date: Sometime in 2022
Location: Great hallWednesdays were not Sophie's favorite day, actually, she was 99% sure that it was the worst day of the week. She always seemed to encounter something she didn't want to, or she was wrongly accused of something. And now she was headed to the great hall, and hearing screams. Voldemort? She thought, hopefully, not knowing why. Her parents always disapproved of the way she always wanted to meet someone famous or well-known, no matter what, which includes Voldemort. But suddenly, she stopped, not willing to go any further. Why would people be screaming like they were dying or something? How odd was that? No, Sophie was not going in there to find out, today was a Wednesday. She reminded herself, who really wished she didn't. All the horrid memories of Wednesdays came back. It was the day when she set her house on fire, it was the day when she accidentally (not really) started a snowball fight at her muggle school, it was the day she encountered some snake when she was outside.
I'm not going in, I'm probably going to die and drown and die again and stuff, someone please help me. She thought. After a whole lot more thinking about not going in, her brain randomly threw this at her: Nevermind all that, I'm just going to see what's happening. Before she could stop herself, she was already moving. And before she knew it, there was a frog on her shoe. She stared at it for five tremendously long seconds. "Oh yeah.... that explains the screaming." She said, feeling stupid for not noticing. Somewhere in the crowd, she heard that students were picking up frogs for chocolate frogs.... and she could possibly resist that.
Sophie ran around trying to catch frogs, ignoring the fact they were so disgustingly slimy looking. For chocolate frogssssssss! Her mind kept flashing. She grabbed one frog, it escaped somehow. "This is actually harder than you think. said a Slytherin boy, who started chasing the frog that just escaped Sophie's hands. "Wha-" Sophie started, before being ran over by somebody who was also chasing a frog. She scooped up something, which felt like a frog but it was actually someone's food.
Sophie threw whatever that food was away, and snatched up the frog that was on her back, it escaped too. Frustrated, Sophie stuck her hands in some drinks and her hands were now sticky. She managed to catch one frog and put it in her pocket. Having sticky hands had a downside though, it kept on getting stuck to other stuff like someone else's hate. Is one frog enough? I'm not sure, I'll catch more if I can, or steal some. She was exhausted, but looked over to someone who was eating and his frog was settled nearby. When it comes to chocolate frogs, I'm not messing around. She thought, but stealing would feel so wrong, and worse, it was a Wednesday. Her chances of being caught were like 99 out of 100. First of all, she wasn't sneaky anyway, second of all, she'd likely get caught. "Whatever! I'll just catch more of you slimy frogs!" She said, furiously. She got 4 more, surprisingly. "5 is enough for now." Sophie gladly said. But she immediately ran into a problem, how do you turn the frogs in?
She snuck into two girls' conversation. Apparently, this was an errand which you had to catch at least 1 frog and turn it into Professor Takagi, the new Care of Magical Creatures professor. Sophie would be happy to turn it in to the new professor. She started heading towards her, since she spotted her immediately. She gave the frog to the professor and was relieved this was probably the only ordinary, or the most ordinary Wednesday she ever had in her life.Word count: 634

────────────────────────────────It was after dinner, and I had been hearing chatter about something in the great hall, that was frog related. I had just gotten back from a delicious dinner, and I was already back up in my dorm, doing homework when I heard some girls walk by talking about the frogs.
“Did you hear that the Care of Magical Creatures teacher who let a ton of frogs in to the Great Hall?”
“Ewww! That’s where we eat!”
“I know!”
That’s all I had to hear. I hurried down the stairs to hear if the rumor was true. It was. I noticed my friend Athena running after a frog.
“Athena! What the heck is going on!” I asked, looking at all of the frogs people were scurrying after. Athena paused to explain what was going on, which was a very brief explanation. Then she ran off to grab the nearest frog.
I stepped away from all of the commotion and began observing the room. On the staff table there was a large glass tank that people were putting there caught frogs in. Professor Takagi was taking note of all the people who captured one. The tables were in there usual order and had house color table cloths that went down to the bench. I leaned up against the wall, watching everyone scurry around. A few students had nets, but they didn’t seem to be helping. I continued watching everyone for a bit, knowing that I could participate and possibly also win a reward.
I noticed Professor Takagi’s bag, which was overflowing with unopened chocolate frog cards. Many people who had entered the great hall to eat were shocked and they ran out. Some came back with friends, or alone, and some probably went up to their common room.
I decided to begin catching them. I ran at a dark green frog and it hopped away. I kept at it, for a while and thought there has to be a strategy! what is it!? I watched some others who were creeping up then pouncing. They seemed more successful than me, so, why not try it. I went along the middle, walked up slowly and jumped. "Gotcha!" I exclaimed! I looked down at my hands and noticed a leg sticking out from under my hand and I froze. I peeked under and the frog was gone. I instantly began looking around for the injured frog. I didn't see it. I slowly walked around looking for it. There were hundreds, all hopping around. I sighed and gave up looking for it. A frog missing a leg probably didn't count... right?
I walked over to the Hufflepuff table and squatted down next to it. A interesting thought had popped in my head. Wait. Are there frogs under the table? I laid on my stomach and peeked under. Yes! I quickly moved a section of the bench away and crawled under. I reached up and... YES! I smiled and crawled out from under the table. I smiled and took it over to the large tank. I lifted the lid, gently set it in, closed the tank back up. I went back and began hunting for more frogs. I tried the table strategy one more time, but it wasn't successful. I sighed and began looking around for another strategy. I went back to the cupped hands strategy. It definitely wasn't the best idea, but it was a popular idea. I saw a boy who was using a bowl and putting it down over the frogs. Smart. There weren’t any other bowls around, so I decided to go back to the table method. This time I went to the Ravenclaw table. I moved the bench and grabbed a frog on the second try. I put it in the tank and went to look for another frog.Cara has left the thread.────────────────────────────────
