If Ellie also wanted to go watch a game, maybe they could go together? It would be nice to have someone to talk to. She would have to ask, but she would wait until she had a proper look at the schedule, just in case there was something more interesting happening at the same time as the game(s). She doubted it, given how obsessed a huge part of the Wizarding world was with the game but it wouldn't hurt to make sure.
Maybe she would have to look at that schedule sooner rather than later?
It was great to hear that the other liked board games, too. Maybe they could play some together sometime even if they weren't a Hogwarts thing. Did she bring any with her though? She honestly wasn't sure. Oh well, she would have to wait and see and if there was nothing to be found at school she could ask for one to be owled to her by her parents or if she returned home for the winter hols, she could take a couple back to school with her then? It was a long way off but ... better than nothing, right?
"Movie night? Did you grow up in the non-magical world?", she asked eagerly. While she was looking forward to meeting people from all possible backgrounds, it would be nice to have someone to talk Muggle stuff with. (Someone who would understand the horrible lack of electronics and the dearth of opportunities to text with people. She hadn't had a mobile phone herself, because what was the point to get one for the short time before she went to Hogwarts but her dads did, and she had been allowed to use them to text with her friends when they wanted to meet up in their free time. To be fair, she would miss the electronics in and off them self far less than the easy way to stay in contact with her friend group.)
"I like listening to audiobooks more than reading. I used to do that a lot while painting.", and with a sigh she added: "I will miss that at school." But enough talk about such depressing thoughts! She wanted to get to know her tent mate and turning into a gloom doom cloud wouldn't help with that.
"Just being outside or gardening?" If it was the latter that would probably be useful to the other when it came to herbology.
"Eh, it's fine. There's time to settle in later, I figures meeting people would be more interesting. That said, I'm not sure either where they are. Maybe no one else has signed up to this tent yet?" Glenys hoped someone would. While she liked Ellie so far, she had hoped to meet several people. And the tent would be a bit large for just two people.
Following Ellie's example, Glen would also grab a biscuit, making sure to avoid any with chocolate on it. Instead she picked one that looked like an oatmeal one.
"Hm. Let's take look at that schedule first, shall we? Maybe someone will show up. If not, I think we have ample time to check things out before the barbeque, that's probably later in the day? I could be wrong, but BBQs tend to be more evening things, don't they?" And considering that it was still (late) morning, it was probably still ways off. Until then... they had sweets. Probably not the most healthy, but who cared. Wasn't like her parents were here to police her sweets intake or something.

Ellie was very fortunate to grow up as a half-blood. “Yes, my dad is a muggle. My parents wanted my brother and me to get the full outlook of the muggle life before school. We attended muggle schools. I love to watch movies, especially any movies based on books I’ve read. And if you met my brother, he is obsessed with video games. I think we both will suffer quite a bit once we are in Hogwarts.”
Ellie slightly frowned. That was one of her worries. She wasn’t really good with change and there is about to be a whole lot of changes happening in her life. She realized she was quiet for some time wrapped up in her thoughts.
“What genre of audiobooks do you usually listen to?” She wondered if the themes in the stories helped inspire some of her artwork.
“And yes gardening. It has me excited for Herbology once classes start.” Ellie always had a strong curiosity for the unknown and learning about new plants that she hasn’t been exposed to yet, had her extremely excited.
By the looks of it, other campers weren’t going to show, which made Ellie a bit sad but relieved. She wanted the opportunity to meet a lot of new people but was really happy that she was hitting it off with Glen. This will give them ample time to learn about each other and hopefully become really good friends.
“Let me grab the schedule so we can go over it.” Ellie made her way to her things at her part of the tent to get it.

Oh, phew. She would not be the only one. "I'm a bit scared of that, too. I mean, I knew what going to Hogwarts would mean and I don't use as much tech as some others I could name, but it will still take some getting used to.", Glen would agree with Ellie's assessment before then asking: You have a brother?" She was curious to find out more about the other.
"Audiobooks? Oh, hmm. I don't know about genre. I've listened to this and that. The last one(s) I listened to was actually the The Lord of the Rings trilogy – because that's the only one Papa had on his mobile, so it was the only one I could listen to while we were on vacation. I liked it mostly though some parts dragged on way too long. I've listened to some mystery crime books but also some normal novels for example, I guess. " Glenys shrugged. She didn't care too much about the books she listened to. After all, she listened to them when she was busy painting. Sure, interesting books were always better but to be perfectly honest she'd rather listen to a boring book read by a good narrator, than an interesting one with a grating voice. The latter was far more distracting and annoying if she wanted to paint.
When Ellie answered her question about gardening, she only nodded and filed the information away for later but did not ask any further questions on the topic in the moment.
"Of course! Thanks!", Glenys would grin with a grateful air. While she waited for Ellie to return with the schedule, she would select another biscuit to eat. It looked like a lemon cookie but turned out to be a ginger cookie instead. It tasted quite good once she was past the shock of the vastly different than expected taste. (Was that what eating Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans would be like?)

Her stepdad told her that the best way to get to know other magical kids before attending Hogwarts was to join the Summer Camp. At first, Ash's mom wasn't so sure about it, but Ash thought it could be a good idea to start getting some new experience, so her mom finally agreed and allowed Ash to prepare for this special Summer Camp.
Ash decided to just wear a simple belted denim dress and arrived at the location, she saw a lot of other kids, mostly her age, but there were also some who looked older than her. The mood she had at the moment wasn't so different when she first time went to buy the school supplies with her stepdad at Diagon Alley. A mix of nervousness and excitement. Ash didn't expect to see so many interesting designs on the list, but she was quick to pick the tent she wanted and signed up for it. Perhaps it was the color green and poison fascinated her the most. And it wasn't hard for Ash to find the tent because if she remembered the description of the design, it was in a variety of green shades and there were potion bottles and poisons scattered around the tent.
Ash could guess there would be definitely other kids in the tent already. Even though she was often like a lone wolf who preferred to be alone and do her own thing, that didn't mean she was a social awkward person. She had no problem interacting with new people. However, the kids she was about to meet are not normal kids like from the Muggle world. They could be kids who lived and raised in a wizarding world full of magic. So this was indeed something she was a bit nervous about it. Once she already signed up for it, there was no point turning back now.
"Hello, I'm coming in now.", when Ash entered the tent, she was amazed by the decorations inside. What she liked the most are the floating potion bottles that contain glowing green or purple liquid and has smoke seeping out of each bottle. It looked so cool and magical! Then she noticed there were two girls who looked about her age were talking to each other. Although, one of them went to get something and the other girl was eating a biscuit. Ash walked closer towards them and introduced herself with a friendly smile, "Hi, there. My name is Ashleigh Hazelwood, you can call me Ash if you like. I just signed up to join this tent, so I hope we can enjoy each other's company." She was kind of glad that there weren't a lot of people in the tent yet, two kids would be a good start.

Ellie ruffled through her things to grab the schedule. As she did, she decided to continue the conversation with Glen. “Yes! I’m actually a twin. He couldn’t be more different than each other but he is my best friend. We’ve seen the Lord of the Rings during our movie nights. My dad is a big fan. I must say it has some of the best music.”
As Ellie made her way back to the common area of the tent she noticed that they had a new addition. “Nice to meet you, Ash! My name is Ellie Welcome to our tent!” she said warmly with a big smile. She had been nervous about others joining, but from first impressions, Ash seemed to be very sweet
“We were just about to look over the schedule for camp to see which activities we wanted to participate in. Would you like to look it over with us after you settle in? So far, it was just the two of us, so you have many options for where you would like to stay.” She said as she put her hand in the direction of the unoccupied rooms. She laughed internally because her motion reminded her of something out of a game show and she felt silly doing it.

The music of Lord of the Rings was some of the best (relaxing) music, Glen absolutely agreed there.
"Hello, I'm coming in now." At hearing a new voice, Glenys perked up and turned toward the entrance. Another girl around their age had joined them in their tent, it seemed. With a friendly grin, Glenys waved at her in greeting. "Hey there, Ash. Nice to meet you! I'm Glenys Urquhart, but you can call me Glen. Now we have three people! Nice!; Ellie's just grabbing something in the back.", she would offer in explanation.
In a back corner of her mind, Glenys had a short moment wondering if she had introduced herself to Ellie with her last name, too, or not. But the question was almost immediately deemed unimportant right now and forgotten. "Welcome!", she would echo Ellie's greeting.
Finishing up her ginger cookie, Glenys would wait for Ash's reply before she turned to Ellie and the schedule. Idly she noted that Ash was also wearing a dress. She hadn't seen many people wearing dresses as she arrived and she'd somewhat wondered if most deemed trousers more adequate for camp.
"Are you also starting Hogwarts in September like us or ...? Are you from another school or already a student?", she would ask curiously. She thought Ashleigh looked like she could be around their age, but Glenys wasn't always the best at guessing ages. It would be amazing, if she was, then Glen could maybe already have found two new friends in her year before school had even started?

The girl with pretty purple hair greeted her first with a friendly grin on her face and introduced herself as Glen. Quite a unique name, she thought to herself. Glen asked her if she was going to start Hogwarts in September like them, Ash nodded and answered her question, "Yes, I'm going to be a first year at Hogwarts this September. I already heard so much about this wizarding school from my stepdad, he was a student there when he was young. But to be honest, this is still very surreal to me." Ash sheepishly scratched the back of her head a bit, it did sound a little embarrassing when she admitted how she felt about all this, even though it had been years since everything changed when she discovered that she was born with magic and was destined to become a witch. Who would have thought that all the things she read from fantasy books were real. "I know this might sound silly, but I never thought I would turn out to be a witch and even got accepted by such a prestigious magical school. I mean...it's really cool that I get to learn magic, brew potions and learn about all kinds of magical plants and flowers in the wizarding world!"
Then another girl with curly red hair returned to the common area, she noticed her and also gave her a friendly welcome. She introduced herself as Ellie, also a very cute name in her opinion. Both girls seemed nice quite so far, Ash thought with a smile and hoped this can lead to a new friendship. "Thank you for the nice welcome, I'm really excited to be here!"
When Ellie told her they were going to look at the schedule together and see in which activities they can participate once she settles in, her eyes almost sparkled in pure curiosity, "Oh sure, I wonder what kind of interesting activities they have to offer in this camp. I'll be right back." Ash picked up her luggage from the ground and went to the direction where Ellie pointed out for her. Ash decided to just find an unoccupied room and drop her stuff there without unpacking it, so she could quickly return to the common area. She didn't want to let the girls wait for her too long, after all.

Ashleigh seemed very kind and excited to do activities with the girls. Ellie waited for her to return and decided to grab another snack from the table. Ashleigh didn’t take long. It seemed like she just left her belongings in the room. Ellie glanced over the agenda and decided to read out the itinerary.
“Well today we have a barbeque. Then, tomorrow they will be doing a campfire with stories. The planned for Prank Wars later on in the week and then it seems like they will start with the games over the weekend” Ellie really hoped the girls didn’t want to take part in the Prank Wars. She thought that it only leds to feelings being hurt.
“I am not really an athletic person, but I am a bit curious to see the games. There will also be a Triathlon and a Mutiny-Wolf game. I am most excited for that since it looks like a game based on a mystery”. Ellie knew that no mter what her tent mates decided she would sign up for that game.
“There will be dueling and broom racing as well. Something called ‘Capture the Jolly Roger’ I’m not really sure what that is about and Twirl the Flagon that I think is something like spin the bottle.” Ellie thought they were all too young for that kind of game, plus she didn’t really know anyone else in the camp aside from the students she met in Diagon Alley and her tent mates.
After reading everything that was planned, it didn’t seem like they really filled the month full of activities. It looks like the girls will have some days where they could plan to do their own thing. She hoped they would at least want to go for hikes and explore on some days because that was what she liked to do back home. She waited to hear what the girls were interested in.

Glenys quickly grabbed another biscuit, so she didn't do a happy dance or something when Ashleigh said that she was also starting in September. They even seemed to all have grown up in the Muggle world, si if nothing else they could compare experiences and lament the lack of technology and Muggle friends together. As exciting as it was, having someone that would understand a probably inevitable rant at some point ... was weirdly relaxing. Even better, that both girls seem to be really nice.
While they waited for Ash to return, Glenys couldn't help but wonder if they ended up with a every flavour bean version of biscuits, because the last one she'd eaten had looked like it would be really buttery but it was crunchy instead and tasted like ... yoghurt? It was weird, was what it was. Intriguing though.
"I'm looking forward to that barbeque.", Glen commented when Ellie mentioned it again, but then she waited until Ellie had gone through the whole itinerary, before responding further. That was less activities than she would've expected from a camp, and even less that sounded all that interesting to her. She was on the fence when it came to campfire stories, but a prank war sounded like an unnecessary hassle. Pranks were only fun akong friends when everyone knew what the boundaries were and that they weren't malicious. She was hoping their tent wouldn't get involved. Of course, if they were she would give her best but she'd really rather not.
A triathlon sounded fun, if exhausting, but she wasn't sure how suitable it would be for meeting people. Mutiny-Wolf was meh. The capture thing was probably a version of Capture the Flag? Glenys hadn't played that before herself, but she heard classmates mention it before when they spoke about a camp they'd been to. She wasn't really sure what the game entailed, though. Spin the bottle ... that was a truth or dare game, wasn't it? That might've potential.
"Huh. That's less than I expected, considering the camp lasts for a month. I thought summer camps were jam-packed with activities... Campfire stories. Hm. That feels like it would be an end-of-camp thing not at the start, but I guess most of the people here already somewhat know each other? I'm not really sure about any of the games, to be honest. I definitely want to participate in some, how about you two? And I think I want to watch at least one Quidditch game. ... does it say how soon we have to decide what we want to do?"

Ellie looked over the itinerary to see if it had any information on sign-up. There weren’t many details but she does remember them setting up what looked like sign-up tents. She imagined those would be used for the events that campers wanted to participate in.
“I’m not really sure there isn’t much information. I wouldn’t mind seeing a quidditch match, even though I’m not very much informed on the sport.” She knew she needed to push herself out of her comfort zone and wouldn’t mind going to something if Glen wanted to go. As she looked at the list the only thing she really looked forward to was the Wolf/Mutiny game.
“Since there isn’t a lot planned, maybe we can go for hikes on some days. I don’t get to come around this area often being from Scotland, so I am curious to see what is around.” She hoped the girls would be down for going to a trial or exploring a bit. She imagined if they came to a camp they would be prepared for that sort of thing but didn’t want to make any assumptions.
“I’m not sure if it’s my nerves, but I have a big appetite. I am really looking forward to the barbeque later.” Ellie waited for Ashleigh to return to see what she might be interested in participating in.
