Felix had been looking forward to a July away from his peers and his family. His bedroom called to him and he had made plans to sit on his buttocks and read for the entire month. It was unfortunate for him that Linnéa Kolbeck had other plans.

He should have seen it coming since she had sent him an owl after she discovered Yefim had been named champion of Durmstrang. At first it was the usual nagging, ‘if you were more like Yefim that could have been you, you’re wasting your life’, blah blah blah. Eventually he ended up crumpling up the letter and tossing it into the bin before even finishing it. Then, another had arrived. This one demanded Felix to at least try to and get closer to Yefim. Merlin, the woman was crazy. Felix liked the guy well enough, but he was mostly using him for protection against Arjan. Sure, he had grown fond of his company other time, no matter how often his deluded comments made him roll his eyes, but to kiss his ass was taking it too far. He had written a letter back to tell his mother to mess off and that he could take care of his own life and she could focus on something else.

The letter he had received afterwards was much more stern, insisting that his 'life' belonged to her until he graduated. Where the hell did she get off telling him what to do?! He was practically an adult. Just because she birthed, fed, and nurtured him for the first 10 years of his life and every summer since he had started attending Durmstrang, didn't mean she got to have a say in what he did. UGH. His sisters were starting school next year, couldn’t she ruin their lives instead?!
Linnéa had taken it upon herself to arrange for a week of team bonding, and, much to Felix's horror, invitations to the Kolbeck’s manor had been sent out only a few days after the start of summer. She had even transformed part of the property into some sort of training grounds. Anything his team mates had requested would be present when they arrived.

Several centuries old, the Kolbeck manor lay beyond a vast sparkling lake. It had been enchanted with the muggle-repelling charm to keep any curious non-magic users away; if one were to even attempt to approach the dwelling they would suddenly remember they had to do something urgent. The red stone work was well kept despite the ivy vines climbing up the building’s sides. The style of the building a form of Danish Renaissance, with large pointed and spired-like roofs sheltering various towers. The structure was made up of three large wings, which surrounded a giant courtyard that housed various plants and flowers. The guest bedrooms were located in the west wing, each member had their own bedroom, though those with a better blood status/standing would find their rooms were a lot nicer than their half-blooded team mates. Yefim's room was rather noticeably nicer than the rest of the guest's bedrooms, even nicer than Felix's own, much to his annoyance.

As the guests arrived they would be greeted by a team of house elves, who would take their luggage and other belongings to their rooms. The 'mistresses' or 'masters' were asked to join their host for dinner and were told as much by Clippy, an old house elf with a squeaky voice who, curiously enough, wore a necklace made of paper clips around her thin neck. When the time came, they would again be escorted by an elf towards a large dining room in the east wing of the manor. A large mahogany table had been set with a lavish display of silver plates, cutlery, and glass cups. Candles floated overhead, illuminating the dining area. The matching chairs were cushioned with red velvet pillows, and a large fireplace had already been lit, the flames crackling as they devoured logs.

Dressed in navy blue robes, Linnéa sat at the head of the table. She was a woman who looked no older than 35. She stood relatively tall for a woman at 5'9", her large blue eyes were similar to Felix's own, and her oval shaped face was framed by her long pure-white tresses of hair. Those with a keen eye might notice no roots were present as her light hair colour was natural, unlike Felix's. She would greet each guest with an excited smile. To her left sat her glum-looking son, who had been forced into a set of dress robes. He would only mumble an unimpressed 'hello' when his mother shot him a venomous look.

Valentin’s keen eyes glanced around at the manor’s fixtures and décor with cursory interest, especially after entering the dining hall. His gaze was blank, as if on a fact-finding mission rather than enjoying the opulence of the estate. Yet, Valentin had been properly groomed and he bowed to Linnéa with a curt but elegant sweep of his arm. Her name reminded him of Carl Linnaeus, the father of the Linnaean taxonomy system used for classifying life forms. Valentin proceeded to smile at her, narrowing eyes creasing at their corners with genuine goodwill. Yet, such pleasant distractions could only delay the inevitable.

After trying to distract himself by looking around, both at other people and at the various items in the room, Valentin could hardly sit still for any longer. All he could do now was cross his arms and close his eyes, staying completely silent, and escaping into his own mind. He began to try composing music, but there was too much noise in his head for any of it to come out right. As a last resort, he began to play out quidditch scenarios in his mind hoping to find a new tactic he hadn’t seen before.

Yefim was excited when he got the invite, especially the part about training. He sent ahead an owl with all of the training equipment he desired, and since there were no limitations put in place, it was a very long list. It was almost like making a Christmas wish list, and he had the same excitement of a boy waiting to open his presents as he entered the mansion. Perhaps a bit distracted, he was paying little attention to the beauty of the surrounding area and the graciousness of their host. He didn't notice as his baggage disappeared in a house elf's hands, and would likely not notice its absence for a long time. He would still be polite, his mother was an upstanding pure blood and taught the boy manners. He was a wrecking ball in the halls of the school, but around adults, Yefim could be downright reserved.

Giving up on getting to see the training grounds first, there was dinner to eat. He was a growing boy and knew the value of bulking up on protein to get the most out of his exercise. One did not get as swole as he without some knowledge of the human body, as knowing when to pace oneself. The most righteous of gains took place when the movements were right, and the body was ready. Also, he liked to eat. He didn't know what kind of food Felix's mom would serve, and to be honest, he had not considered much about the trip at all besides the part about the training. Having everyone in the same place was going to make for such good training... training.... training...

Yefim would naturally sit on the right side of Linnéa Kolbeck, across from Felix. He didn't usually have big dinners like this, his family was only him and his mom, so they had a small table for them at home. His only other example was the Durmstrang eating situation, which was fairly chaotic. He couldn't tell if there were supposed to be rules or not, but knew well enough to ask. [”Miss Kolbeck, are there any house rules I should know about? My mother says I should always ask.”]

Regardless of her answer, he would turn to his crew and they started to filter in and choose their seats. He was interested to see who sat beside each other, though he could easily guess a few of them. Many of them were still fairly unknown to Yef, and he'd be watching them closely to make sure they didn't do anything that showed too much weakness, or too much hatred. He was insistent on making this team work, not by bringing them to order, but by letting them go wild. What mattered is that they supported one another, worked as a single unit, even if their goal was wackiness. He himself was a spear with great reach, pointed at any problems he saw arise. A gentle poke or a hard jab could be required if the situation called for it. That was how he learned, and that was how he taught.

He had so many ideas for training. It was hard not to zone out and think about it while he waited for the food. He saw Val was zoning out as well, and figured he was pretty uncomfortable in such a large eating situation. If they were at school, he could just help Niff by grabbing some food and taking it away to whatever place he preferred to eat, but here, they had been expected to show up and talk to the host. People who had big parties like this rarely cared about what the guests really wanted, which was why Yefim avoided them. He was lucky his mom cared so much about letting him be himself, not everyone was so lucky, and he knew it.

[”Don't worry, everyone will be looking at me.”] Yefim smiled, though no one would likely know what he was talking about or why he said it.

Mikael stared up at the large brick building in front of him. The regal nature of the house bore down upon those that made their way up towards the entrance. As he was sure that was the intention. To feel small and minuscule compared to this family. Such grandeur seemed far removed from himself. When was the last time the yard had been precisely cut and polished to perfection? If he closed his eyes he wondered if he would be able to remember uniform grass and perfectly cut shrubs. Hadn't his house also sparkled with grandeur? Though, that seemed like a long time ago. During a time when things had not seemed so bleak. Almost hopeful. Mikael tilted his head slightly staring up at the wispy clouds that hung above him. Distracting himself from his racing thoughts.

He was not too sure why he had agreed to the invitation. The death of his Mother was still far too fresh in his mind, and here he was going to socialize among those who had cast her away. It was not hard to wonder if there had been more compassion for their rotting family, would she have been here? Mikael glanced slightly to his left before glancing forward. A flash caught in his peripheral and he quickly whipped his head back to stare in the direction he saw movement. But alas, there was nothing out of the ordinary. Mikael's brows furrowed before entering the home.

Overwhelming. That seemed to be the only thing Mikael could truly comprehend. The boy's gaze flicked left and right trying to take in every detail at once. The home was polished and pristine. Screaming money and wealth. The boy glanced downwards to see small creatures standing before him. House-elves. Mikael blinked slowly as the small things attempted to grab at his luggage, and after a long pause, he slowly allowed them to take his old and worn suitcase. The entire time the boy could not help but wonder when was the last time he had seen a house elf. Mikael's gaze would bore down as one informed him of a dinner that apparently he simply had to attend. The boy made his way toward the dining room.

Mikael glanced about the dining room seeing a few familiar faces at the table. The boy frowned making a straight shot to the open chair between Yefim and Valentin. Paying little to no attention to the stern-looking lady a few chairs down. The boy had a more neutral look his eyes boring into those around him as he took a moment to study everyone. Seeing Yefim again was like a breath of fresh air. Familiarity was good and brought a sense of ease. Even though his face did not show it. Mikael turned his gaze towards Valentin. Staring at the other for a little longer than socially acceptable. It had been a while since he had seen his light.

Charles expected to spend the summer holiday avoiding his family and fellow durmstrang for a month to escape to the summer camp, where he could meet up with friends and participate in thr quidditch game. That's what Charles expected, an perfect summer in his opinion but life held other plans for the blonde.
Charles was spewed across the leather couch in the living room, dressed in his normal wear of leather jackets and black jeans with an quidditch magazine in hand. Flipping through the pages. Head aginest the cushions, sitting across from his elder brother. Andrew, who sat upright in a chair reading from his own book in nicer clothes than Charles. The two were spending the day reading when their parents entered, their father holding a letter that the two recently read through.

"You didn't mention you were apart of the durmstrang team for the hexwizard tournament, Charles," Aaron announced to a blonde teenager that wasn't paying attention. Flipping through the pages as he muttered"I'm not." Charles kept his school life a secret from his parents, not telling them about grades or achievements. Figuring it was best for them to automatically expect failure from them then allow them to build expectations up for him. That usually worked until the letter... the one that his father held up as he spoke"this letter says differently." Charles put the magazine down, looking up when his eyes caught the letter and instantly he wondered which one of the obnoxious, sweaty- stopping himself as he remembered that it could have been from someone like Greta or Valentin.
The blonde held his hand out for the letter as he spoke"er- I forgot, I'm the reserve for the team. Could I?" Andrew peered over at him, an slight smile as Charles took the letter that his father handed him. Looking for the person to blame for this as his father spoke"But your on the team? I'm honestly surprised but well done, I wouldn't expect you-" The blonde blocked out his father's words, sitting up as he read the letter. Words of bootcamp, a week with the team as he looked for an name... Kolbeck? As in Felix Kolbeck?

Kolbeck! Bloody Kolbeck! Out of everyone, of course it's that idiot!

Charles crumpled the letter into a ball that his mother rushed over to snatch from him, smoothing the paper out as his father spoke"Well, shouldn't you be packing?" The blonde looked over, Charles cursed a little as he should have been paying attention to the words. Taking a guess, Charles thought it was about the bootcamp that bloody Kolbeck sent as he spoke"for the bootcamp? I think I'll pass," laying back on his back. Brining the magazine to his eyes, opening it when his father spoke"You will be going, it would be good for you to be around equals." Equals aka purebloods. The blonde ignored his father, figuring if he did it long enough then maybe the man would leave.

"Ignore me, Charles but you will be going. Your apart of that team and perhaps you could learn some manners from the champion while your at it," Aaron spoke which made Charles laugh a little. He doubted that he would ever learn anything from someone as one sided and ruthless that is the durmstrang champion; Yefim Rumyantsev. Keeping his place, flipping the page of his magazine as he spoke"still good, rather pass than spend a week with those blokes." His eyes on the images of his magazine, missing the exchange looks between his parents before his father spoke"Well, I'm sad to see you not wanting to go but as long as you live under my roof then you'll do what I'll say so your going." Charles dropped the magazine to his legs, sitting up to look at his father. Was he actually pulling the "live under my roof" and annoying parenting cards?

The blonde looked at the man as he spoke"there is no bloody way that I'm going to that hell," Charles ignored his brother's glaring eyes as his father spoke"You finally have a chance to spend time with purebloods instead of your strange friends and you are turning it down, unbelievable," Charles felt the magazine tremble in his hands. Biting his bottom lip as he spoke"I just don't want to spend an week speaking russian and my friends aren't strange, their family at least to me." Charles felt his breathing quicken, chest tightened from the tension as his eyes narrowed with every word his father spoke"Family? Please, their rubbish and you'll soon realize that. Which is why you should attend-" Charles dropped the magazine, getting to his feet as he felt his cheeks glow red. His brother holding him back, his hands on his shoulders as he yelled"Shut up! Shut up!" His eyes burned with tears, the lashes strained with the water as his chest tensed. Leaning into Andrew's shoulders, hiding his face in his brother.
The blonde still loathing his father for forcing him to accept the invitation, that anger only burned greater when the man forced him out of his leather into an grey sweater and normal jeans instead of his frequent worn black, torn ones.
The blonde looked up at the house, redbrick and regal with protection from muggles... Charles held one bag over his shoulder, mind still recalling his father's lecture before he left.
His brother couldn't perform well quidditch so he shouldn't either, drop the hobbies and focus on perfection in classes. Start an reputation by his place on the hexwizard team even as a reserve... an lecture the blonde never wanted. What the hell is his family's deal with perfection? Why should he crave something that only seemed possible through achievements? Why should those even define him?
The blonde felt his right hand go into a fist, eyes closed as he bit his tongue. Imagining punching his father. An hand on his shoulder, voice in his ear, "it's only a week. You'll be fine, Les."

Charles felt his chest loosen a tad, eyes opened with his fist. Looking over at his elder brother who stood besides him. The blonde felt his eyes go back to the manor as he spoke"a week in hell, how fun," Andrew looked over his brother, squeezing his shoulder as he spoke"give it a chance or try to? Durmstrang isn't as bad with a friend, you know," casting Charles an soft smile as the blonde spoke"A chance? If I survive this week then maybe," the two sharing in a light laugh.
Andrew looked over his brother, hand held to his shoulder as he spoke"I'm serous, their not as bad as you think. At least try to act friendly, don't let the opportunity pass you by." Charles looked from the house to his brother as he spoke"Fine, I guess I should learn their names then? I want to say one's Mitchell or Moe?" An laughed shared between the two, Charles pushed back his hair that Andrre ruffled as he spoke"none of them are named those, Les." The blonde held his arms cross his chest, nodding a tad as he spoke" I bet you would know, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two were your friends."

Charles eyes his brother who held his hands in his pockets as he spoke"I at least tried to appear friendly and have friends while at school, something that could aid you," Charles glanced away to his surprise Andrew took hold his shoulders, the two finding each other's eyes as he spoke"you go through school once, make the most of it while you can." An nod, touching foreheads for a moment.
Andrew squeezed his brother's shoulders, separating from him as he spoke"I'll see you in a week, remember to smile." Exchanging nods as Charles watched his brother leave, considering running away himself.

The blonde would apporch the door, follow the others, the blonde felt a tiny urge to set the hous elves free. Following one to his room, setting it down, an look around where he would be for the week. It was nice but wasn't his quidditch covered room... the blonde would follow the house elf once again to the dining room.
An lool around, fancy and well done. What he expected from an pureblood family. The blonde glanced at those close by. Felix, dressed in elaborate dressrobes that he didn't laugh at. He figured his mother forced him into them, much like how his father forced him out of his torn leather.
Yefim, the main event and setting conversation. Only what would be expected from the champion. Close by him, an silent Mikael and Valentin. The blonde left Valentin or Frost alone, he seemed to want his silence. Charles found an spot at the table alone, far from the others as he brushed back his hair and sat his head back. Wishing to be elsewhere.
