ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim nodded as Galton spoke. Try not to get hit, well that was rather obvious. Who would want to get hit in the first place? Other than masochists and Kim was not one of those. He nodded again and closed his eyes for a moment, calming his nerves down. This would be his first official duel, even though he wasn't part of the main team. Kim was sure he could do relatively easy spells but he didn't have much to choose from, unlike others. Most of the spells he'd learned weren't suited for duels. Still, luck was everything. Even if he didn't have a vast array of spells to choose from, the spells he could cast could do some damage. And his evasion was high, so Kim's chance of avoiding attacks was great. The guest team had decided to go for both the lower years. It made sense but Kim didn't like it. After all, he intended on staying in the duel until the very end and his determination and willpower was nothing to laugh at. Rodion, that was his name right?, dared to go after him? He made Kim's competitive urges flare up and the boy turned his attention to Eloise, Rodion's partner. Only because she seemed a little less in control of herself, so might be a better target. A Flipendo was sent off in her direction but it missed which was unfortunate. It seemed luck wasn't with him. Not when it came to landing a spell on someone. Unfortunately, although Kim managed to avoid Rodion's Flipendo, Pericles ended up catching him instead. A strong jolt of wind caught his shoulder and made him stumble back a pace. But Kim was pretty durable and was able to recover fast enough to remain on guard in case another spell came his way. It had hurt but not enough to do much damage to him. Kim raised his head and narrowed his eyes at the Ravenclaw. Really? But he couldn't focus on him for long, as Sophia ended up being the target of two people. The worst part was both Sophia's opponents were successful with their 2 spells. As the girl was knocked off her feet and struck the ground, she seemed to hit her head. Kim couldn't help but worry about her but knew any injuries incurred from dueling would be swiftly taken care of by the healers there. As long as nothing really bad happened, Sophia should be fine. He watched as she got to her feet and began to slur her words. Hopefully, she'd be alright. Kim turned his attention back to the duel at hand and glanced over at Galton. The two of them had to discuss strategies now to see what they might want to do next against all of their opponents. Or maybe they could even communicate via eye signals, Kim had a bit of general knowledge. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Galton’s excitement had been palpable, so much so that his first cast had been made with a level of precision he rarely saw from himself. It was a solid start to the chaos that was already unfolding.
Four other people was a lot to take in, and while he hadn’t had to dodge anything this round, he felt sorry for Kim who’d become such a quick target. He did a great job with the first dodge, but was nicked by the second. He glance over at his housemate and partner and give him an endearing grin. There would be no time for words, but that didn’t mean Kim wouldn’t read anything from the smile or where Galton’s eyes shot to after the smile.

It worked. This was not only Peri's first momentous use of spell-spread in an official duel, but also a successful strike, twins gusts thrumming out and buffeting both targets. Satisfaction shone in his eyes. But it would be cut short immediately after, replaced by shock when he realized his partner had been hit twice. He remembered how it felt to be struck out for the first time. So many young duellists seemed to suffer from the same condition where they were too hard on themselves. So he dropped the alarm, trying to look reassuring, and called quickly over his shoulder: "You tell 'em."
The smile drained away when he turned to squint at the Guest team.

One flipendo hit, the other was not so perfect. The blue haired girl was indeed, super annoying. He just wanted to sew that mouth with his knitting equipment. His partner, Eloise on the other hand, was as predicted, useless at best. Five minutes into the duel and she couldn’t even dodge the blindfold that one of the people from the red house was casting. It was a different scenario for him. The white hair dude blew wind in his direction for Merlin's sake and it was a harder job to evade wind than a blindfold spell. “You okay?” He didn’t care, but it was just for formality. “Get it together” He said, a bit annoyed. He needed to be more careful.

Eloise cast her spell and it worked. Just as she was beginning to rejoice, thinking that maybe this was a good idea after all, she found herself blindfolded. Someone had just cast a spell on her. Eloise usually likes to be in the dark. But when SHE decided to be there. When someone else forces her to be in the dark, it's a bit of a panic. Eloise did her best to stay calm, even though when you know her you know she's not well.

Eloise was in a really bad spot. She couldn't see anything, and nearly everyone that could target her--save for Sophia, who had again chosen not to cast--did. Her efforts to untie the knot and get the blindfold off her face were unsuccessful, to boot, doing little more than loosening the incredibly tight knot. If that wasn't frustrating enough, Galton and Pericles gifted her strong winds and fire catching on her clothes. The only thing she might be able to count as a win was avoiding Kim's Flipendo which, though looking like a strong cast, wasn't aimed with enough care.
Her partner, Rodion, was the only other person drawing fire this round, perhaps because he was hindered by the winds or perhaps because everyone was just gunning for the guest team. He almost escaped Pericles' bout of fire, in a display of aim and dodging that would be particularly impressive to watch, but it just nicked him in the side, sparking on fabric. At Pericles' side, Sophia prepared to dodge an attack that never came. It was still a smart move, since she knew how much those hits had taken out of her, but unfortunately wasted.
The guest team was not doing too hot, except in the literal sense. But if Eloise could just get off that blindfold, Rodion could land a solid hit in the meantime, they could still fight their way back.

Another split spell, another pair of hits. Pericles had poured his heart into the twin Incendios, making it vividly clear Ravenclaw would not go down without a fight. They hadn't worked so hard to get here, and he hadn't practiced to the bone to learn this ability, just to fail now. That wasn't to say the intent to injure gleaming in his eye was any less concerning. When the pair of fires found their target, it receded back into something cool and calculating, stratagem and victory taking clear precedence over the moral struggle to not set someone ablaze. All the same, his voice was still gentle as he called to his partner: "You're doing just fine. Stay on the alert like you've been, and we'll get through this together." A fleeting smile was sent Sophia's way.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Things were going their way so far. Hogwarts was awesome. Foreign teams beware! Eloise's next action didn't come as a surprise to Kim. After all, having a 'blindfold' on made it hard to see and vision was everything when it came to duels. He was glad Eloise had failed at removing her blindfold and glanced back over at Sophia again. She seemed fine, for now at least. Kim returned his attention to the foreign team, sizing them up, looked over at Pericles and then back at his partner again. One thing was for sure, his first duel was going pretty well and his competitive urges were revving up within him. The fact that Eloise had avoided his Flipendo a second time made his eyes narrow. Calm down. Kim was calm. He was calm. The boy suddenly had a flash of deja-vu about when he'd come to support Gia at her first duel. Aurelia had been Gia's partner at the time and she'd experienced a bout of bad luck about having her spells connect. Apparently, the same thing was happening to him, but hopefully his luck would change. If it didn't, he'd be very frustrated by the end of the match. Unfortunately, Gia couldn't be there on the sidelines for him this time, she was feeling a little off and was resting inside the tent instead. But Kim knew she was probably supporting him mentally. So although she wasn't physically there, her spirit was there for him. Kim glanced over at Pericles and Sophia and could just barely hear a few words Pericles spoke to Sophia. It seemed as if the boy wasn't a bad person, he appeared to be comforting Sophia, which was nice. Kim looked back over at his own partner, who had successfully managed to deliver a strong wind attack on Eloise. Pericles had also succeeded in setting Eloise's clothes on fire. A double attack that actually looked pretty cool from a short distance. He didn't have anything against the foreign team, but if it was a question as to whether Hogwarts or a foreign team won, Kim 100% wanted Hogwarts to win. After all, why would he want a foreign team to win? He didn't know them. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Sophia braced herself and closed her eyes in preparation for a spell that would never come.
When there was no familiar rush of magic in the air around her, she opened her eyes for a little peek and sighed in relief at what she saw through her blurry vision. If only she'd worn her glasses, though she suspected it wouldn't help with the dizziness.
It seemed that Hogwarts was - unintentionally - united against the foreign students and part of her was proud, but the other part felt bad as she saw the girl struggling with a blindfold and the boy being burned horribly by Sophia's own partner's spell. He hadn't been lying when he advised her to set her own friends on fire.
"I think you'd be able to hit us better if you took off that blindfold!" she shouted to Eloise.
Smiling shakily at Peri, she nodded her thanks to his supportive words.
"I don't deserve you," she muttered warmly, keeping her eyes on the opponents. They weren't out of the game just yet!
She chanced a quick glance at Kim and blushed when she noticed that he seemed to look away from her almost instantly. What on earth did that mean? Oh well, she'd have time to check with him after the duel, if she was alive.
