Rita is obsessed with nature from a young age. As soon as she wakes up from her bed, she looks out from her window the view the blue sky. When the weather is good, she will take a stroll around the Hogwarts campus and look at the sky. She always associate the clouds with different shapes. When the night comes, she also spends a lot of time admiring the stars and the moon. In additon to that, she is also fond of magical and non-magical creatures and plants. Since Care of Magical Creatures is only available until third year(which she look forward to and she has already read Fantastic Beasts and How to Find them by Newt, her favorite subject is herbology, because she really enjoy learning about different plants and their effects. Besides, she keeps a pet, which is a half-year-old male red mackerel tabby called Peanut. Peanut is a graceful and active little boy, and Rita enjoys feeding and playing with him.
Peanut follows Rita everywhere she goes but she is never tired of him. Instead, she enjoy keeping him busy by having fun with him with toys and feeding him with milk and cat food.
Furthermore, she is also interested in learning about other special races. She knew they are different from her and should not be discriminated against. She is paticularlly fascinated about Metamorphmagus because she thinks it must be interesting to being able to change your hair style or how you look like. However, she understands when their shape changes without control, that can bring issues to them, like being laughed at by people that cannot understand them. Other special races such as Dhampir, werewolf, Part-Goblin, Part-Veela and Part-Giant also draws her interest, and she knows part of them are human and part of them are not. In the case of werewolf, she knows they are human during the day but turns into wolves at night. She really wants to know more about their lifes so she can better understand and support them.
Moreover, she is passionate about learning about Parselmouth. She thinks it must be fascinating to speak a language that humans cannot understand. You can express things you do not want others to know through this way of communication. It is always interesting to learn a foreign language so Rita hopes to learn more about Parselmouth or even learn that secret way of communication herself.

Autumn thrives on the discomfort of others. It's a part of her she rarely finds worthy of pride, but one she indulges anyway. She wants people to be on their toes around her, enjoys feeling dangerous. Maybe it's a coping mechanism, meant to keep everyone around her at arm's length, emotionally and often literally. Maybe she was born that way, destined to scare. Possibly it's genetic, yet another metaphorical punch in the face from her mother, who also happens to be cursed with a bone-chilling ambience to the way she acts and holds herself. Maybe it's because it's easier to be scary than to be approachable. She's probably gotten so used to presenting as frightening that it requires no effort anymore; she doesn't know the cause, can't even bring herself to remember when it developed.

Perhaps back when she started school. She could intimidate anybody in vicinity with a single glare, and the bullies avoided her, saying she made them feel icky with her scowling. The teachers noted her lack of popularity, and told her parents they were worried Autumn was scaring the other kids off. Autumn had rolled her eyes, muttering that it wasn't her fault the other kids were cowards.

The chill that followed her around peaked following her father's death; that part was certain. She hated everyone, and her terrifying demeanour became more intentional- sharper, more refined. She watched people, studied what made them sweat, and she integrated those things into everything she did. She walked within the shadows, spoke cryptically, glowered, scowled, threatened people and followed through on those threats. With enough time, she no longer had to try. This thing- this terrible presence,- it was who she was now, for better or for worse.

She's unsure how to stop it, and she's unsure whether she wants to. She can't make friends in the rare occurrences in which she tries, too used to scaring them off, and when she's in crowds she can feel people watching her, whispering and tensing up when she looks their way. Chances are that it's another rumour, most of the time, and it's around a 50/50 chance whether it's one she spread for fun. In an awful way, she enjoys it. She enjoys the disconnect to others, the way they react to her. Enjoys seeing them shiver when she speaks.

It's a guilty pleasure, and one she's lost control of. She has a sneaking suspicion it will, as most things concerning her do, come back to haunt her sometime in the future, but for now she simply basks in this terrible presence she seems to possess.

Athena has always had acute senses. Her eyesight was sharp, her taste was good, her ears could pick up far off sounds and, a fact she much hated, she could smell everything. Before her parents ruled her a squib, they were always bragging to others, claiming “my daughters going to be so observant at Hogwarts, and learn so quickly.” Athena agreed mostly with the fist part of the statement. She was very observant in her younger years.

She remembered on one vacation to France, they went to a play. She couldn’t remember what the okay was called, or the details of it, but in one scene they had leapt incredible lengths. She had immediately seen the hidden transparent ropes and told her parents, who had shushed her. She also observed that the actors seemed to be moving their lips differently than the sound. After the play, they had the chance to meet some of the actors. When they were talking, their voices sounded too high or too low or too squeaky. When Athena had the chance she asked if they used a recording. They had glared at her, glanced around, then told her parents they “had an obnoxiously observant daughter.”

Later, after her parents had decided she was a squib, she had been home with a babysitter who was a squib. During the day her babysitter had constantly checked his phone. He also seemed bosses with hiding all magical items and didn’t let her have any of the good snacks her parents had bought before they left for their five day trip. That night she had been sent to bed extra early. She pretended too fall asleep but secretly stayed up. After half an hour she went downstairs and found a full blown party. (Note house has soundproof walls.) She told her parents when they returned and the babysitter lost some of his paycheck.

Athena knew she was special, in a different way. She didn’t just have sharp senses, she had something else. She had tried bringing it up with her parents, before going to summer camp (Camp James), but they had brushed it off. At camp she had noticed more than she had usually seen. Between the looks the leaders were giving each other, too the weird smell coming from the kitchen, she was having a sensory overload. If she had a galleon for everything she noticed, she would have enough to buy ten Hogwarts. She filled journals with her findings, but stopped after realizing how pointless the observations were.

Name of Ability or Talent: Calming Presence

Describe why it fits your character and why your character would want it. :

Reducio
Harper is a very zen person or she tries to be and she wants what's best for everyone around her. She always wants to help push people to be their best. So, as an example, since she is on the Broom Racing team she would want them to not let their nerves get the best of them. She knows that all too well she often does that herself. So, being able to have a calming presence and soothe people would be extreme helpful for her. She would feel like she was helping in a new and different way and that would be amazing.

Harper isn't the most athletic or physically fit person, so being able to have the ability to clam other wizards down during times of stress would be able to let her feel like she is doing something good. She enjoys school just as much as she likes to be the calming source for others.

Harper wants to one day be a good witch and she has learned through her hard studying that one way to do well in school and ultimately reach her goal is to not let stress and anxiety get to you. So, even if she could naturally help alleviate some of that stress for her teammates she would feel really good. Plus, it would help her win maybe and that would also feel really good.

In a sense, it would be a win, win situation for her. She would feel good because she helped out her teammates and made them feel less stressed and calm and also potentially helped give her team a win by keeping them calm and ready to cast their spells. Focus and calmness is very important when it comes to casting spells, Harper learned that in her first year and wants to be able to pass that knowledge onto others, or at least be the source of reminder to be calm and collected.

Harper is a calming witch because she reminds her teammates to take it easy and likes to be a reminder that they need to breathe and take their time when casting spells. She paid a ton of attention in class and knows that people need to be calm and focused on their casting in order to cast their spells, so she will likely calm others down and be a constant reminder that it is important. She cares about others, and wants to make sure that all spells are casted correctly and with the utmost of focus.

It was the first day back to school, and Nico was walking back home. He had a black eye from some new kid named Michael Dexter. It had been a warm sunny day, but now it was raining. Nico was soaked, cold, tired, and upset. The ground was slippery, and he almost fell down, causing him to drop his bag, which opened and spilled his books out into a puddle. Angrily, he picked up his stuff and continued walking, but he had only taken a few steps when he slipped and fell. Unfortunately, Nico had been walking alongside a ditch, into which he was thrown. As a result, a grass snake was very surprised to be woken up by a young boy's bag falling on top of him.
"What the-? Hey! You people have no ressspect for us sssnakes anymore. Alwaysss throwing rocksss at me and poking me with sssticksss... And now you threw thisss piece of human trash on me! Get out of here, before I bite you with my very poisssonousss fangsss!" the snake warned, coiling up, ready to spring.
Nico stood up, terrified. Snakes usually didn't scare him, but this snake was speaking English. He looked around for a way to get out, and upon not finding one, he sat down and cried.
"I'm warning you, I'm very poisssonoussss," the snake hissed.
"Get away from me!" Nico shouted, or at least he thought he did. When he spoke it came out as a hiss, as if he was a snake.
The snake jeered, "You're in no posssition to be telling me what to do, little boy. I'm the one with fangsss..."
"Liar! you're just a harmless little grass snake! I've seen snakes like you in my garden! You don't have fangs," Nico said, his fear slowly disappearing. Grass snakes are completely harmless.
Nico stood up, opened his bag, and pulled out his phone that his mom had just recently bought him.
Soaked.
He looked up, the rain wasn't planning on stopping anytime soon. He sat down, hugging his bag. Silent tears rolled down his cheek, cleverly disguised by the raindrops on his face. He wasn't too far from his home, but he knew his mom wouldn't suspect anything was wrong until close to dinnertime.
"Ssso..." Snake hissed, iterupting Nico's thoughts. "Why are you ssstill here?"
"I can't get out," Nico whispered hopelessly.
If Snake could show anxiety, he one would've. "You can't get out!?! What do you mean by thisss? Will I be ssstuck down here with you forever??"
He sighed, (if snakes can sigh) "Doesssn't matter anywaysss, I have nothing to eat down here and I'm freezing, at mossst I have a few hoursss left..."
Nico looked at the creature with pity. He took off his sweatshirt, grabbed Snake and wrapped him up, "Hey! Ssstop it! Let me go, you nasssty human!"
"Shut up, Snake, I'm keeping you warm," Nico told him. Then he sat down shivering, waiting for the rain to stop.
Two hours later, the rain stopped, and an hour after that, Nico was found by two highschool girls. They called his mom, who arrived two minutes later, shocked, scared, but relieved to see that Nico was okay. His mom thanked the two girls, and drove Nico home. When he showed her Snake, she was proud that he had saved him and allowed Snake to live in the garden. But when he told her about Snake speaking English, she smiled kindly and told him the family's magical history and its connection with snakes.
Ever since then Nico has been fascinated by snakes and has read everything his library has about them. And every day until he left for Hogwarts, Nico would go out to the garden and talk with Snake, telling him of everything that had happened.

Bubba
James' Father

As Bubba sat on his broom at the start line for his first race, he recalled a memory that had stuck with him for a long time, about the lengths you go to win. It was from the first time his best friend's father had taken him along as a navigator in one of his rallies. He had his wand in his hand, pinned against his broom.

"For runs like this," James' dad said as he knelt down by the tire and turned the air compressor back on, "It's good to start the tires out with higher pressures, they'll grip up on the tarmac better." James was off with his mom and his dad had offered to take him on one of his road rallies so Bubba got to navigate. "Now, since we're all using road cars, strictly speaking, everything is supposed to be stock or as close to stock as possible, but in reality, all racing is always about looking for the unfair advantage." He said as he switched it off and put the valve stem back on the tire.

"Isn't it kind of like cheating?" Bubba asked as he took the tire pressure sensor and moved over to the right front tire, taking off the valve stem and taking the pressure, "This is at 28 right now." He said as he took it off and waited for James' dad to put the compressor's hose on it.

"In this case, it's not strictly against the rules." James' dad said as he switched the compressor back on, he had to speak up to be heard over it. "It's definitely against the spirit of the rules. And if anyone else knew about it they'd cry foul, but they don't check your starting pressures." He switched it off and replaced the valve stem. "Think of it as you're in a circuit race, you get alongside someone and drive them to the edge of the road to make a pass. It's absolutely dirty driving, and depending on the race official it might be against the rules, but if you want to win you take the risk."

Bubba nodded. He was pretty sure he understood, "So it's kind of an ends justify the means kind of thing?" Bubba asked him as they both got in the car to head to the starting point.

"Yes and no," he said, "On the one hand, you're always looking for an unfair advantage, to maximize your chance to win. Sometimes you might even break the rules and hope you don't get caught, but there's always a line." He said as he started the car and they drove off. "You never endanger the life of your opponent. In some cases, you might mess with them, like for a rally mess up the pace notes if you can, just enough to slow them down. But you never put them in a position where they might be seriously hurt."

It had taken a long time but Bubba did finally understand. It wasn't about winning at all costs. You weren't out to win and leave a trail of crumpled bodies and brooms in your wake, but if you had to play dirty to get ahead you did. On that day the ends justified the means, they'd won the rally. The referee began to countdown and Bubba cleared his mind, ready to set off.

Ever since Cara was born, she's had pretty high expectations of herself. She always does everything with this ambition of it being perfect.

It all started at a very early age, when she began to learn how to do things by herself. She was always determined to do things correctly, well... perfectly. At first her mother had no problem with it, but after about a year, she was sick of it. She tried to get Cara to do things less perfectly, but it never worked. She eventually gave up. She had very high expectations on herself, and would not calm down until everything was perfect. Her room was always clean, chores always done, and instruments always practiced.

When she was around five years old, she organized her room so everything was put away, and it looked just how she wanted. Her big white bookshelf stuffed with all the books it could hold, all read, were constantly being organized, by color, alphabetically by author, by title, by every different way. When she was bored of organizing her stuff she organized other places around the house. Her brothers rooms, her parents room, the kitchen, the storage room, and more. It drove her crazy when something wasn't perfect.

One big pro of Cara trying to be perfect is that she does better in school. In her first year at Hogwarts, the high expectations on herself showed. She put in hours of study time, and spell practice to achieve the best grades she could get.

It was very hard for her to accept defeat though. She always tried her best, and when she didn't get the grade she wanted or the result she wanted, she would be down on her self, and it took her about a week to get over the fact she couldn't have what she wanted. It made her study harder, and work harder and she never gave up until she got what she wanted.

It would be a huge lie to say that her perfectionism did not effect her daily life. She organized her school books in her bag, putting the ones the needed first on top, and the ones she needed last on the bottom. At meal time she always had perfect manners and posture, doing everything so perfectly.

Even when she was alone it was herd for her to not organize something. Her dorm and trunk, are always organized and clean.

*I got permission to mention Athena McClenin*

Ever since Cara was born, she has always been a very calm girl. She was three years old when her first brother, Justin, was born. She immediately tried to help take care of him. It took her parents lots of time to realize that she was serious. She always wanted to help, and her parents encouraged that. Whenever she walked in the same room as her brother, he would also feel very relaxed. This was the same when her youngest brother Parker was born. Her parents were amazed, and they observed.
And this has grown, and gotten stronger as she has gotten older.
When she was about six years old one of her brothers, Justin, had scraped his knee, and was crying. Cara brought him a band-aid, his favorite toy, and talked to him. Whenever something like that happened she usually said things like, “It’s ok, I’m here now.” She also usually distracted them with something else that was going on, like a butterfly flying through the air or her dad coming home from work. They always felt better afterwards. That was the same when her youngest brother Parker got older. Whenever one of her brothers scraped their knee, they wanted Cara, not their mum.
One Mother’s Day when Cara was eight years old, her mum was stressed because she had a lot of work to do. Cara noticed and began talking to her. Almost instantly she felt better. Cara even played her a piece on the piano she had been working on.
When she was nine years old, her parents took her to Diagon Alley. They were beginning to believe she was a squib and they thought if she was exposed to some magic she could have her first instance of magic. She then met up with her best friend Athena who told her that her parents were calling her a squib. Cara became infuriated, which everyone agrees this was the one time they have seen Cara angry, she made Athena’s parents and everyone else around have ants in their pants. Everyone stayed calm.
In her first year at Hogwarts, in Charms class they were working on spells and no one ever got frustrated whenever Cara was around. She learned that you need to stay calm and focused to cast the spell correctly, but that was never a problem for her or anyone around her.
There were many, many more times in which Cara was able to help people feel better. Whether it was by offering support, a listening ear, or just pure craziness as a distraction, people always seemed to feel better, for some strange reason.

When Santario first came to Hogwarts, she was a far more timid child hoping that she would have gotten into Hufflepuff instead of following in the footprints of her parents to Slytherin. When the sorting hat called out Slytherin, she joined the table, intimidated by the other students. She hid behind her camera, using it as an excuse to not interact with her peers. Though try as she might, she was never able to remain hidden. Within her first year alone, a scream in the distance had her taking off to see how she could help an older Gryffindor who had tripped over a log and twisted her ankle. When the distraction of her taking photos caused someone to be knocked off of their broom while practicing quidditch, Santario found herself swallowing her fear to catch a practice bludger. Constant contact with older dhampirs and those who gave off the same feelings helped her get used to how they made her feel. It’s not that she didn’t feel it, as she was learning how to ignore how they made her feel, and that was happening with fear in and of itself.

Despite her fear when shadow spiders attacked the common room, Santario still rushed to the front to help her peers, using her bare hands to crush some of the deadly invaders. Hogwarts was a place that seemed to constantly put her in situations where she had to choose to help the people she cared about over being afraid. Fear did not stay within the confines of school as some of the Slytherins were lured into a situation where they were goaded to fight one another. Santario refused to fight and stood her ground, risking her own life to help retrieve her unconscious peers from the ring only to find herself facing down her best friend of the time, controlled by the animal inside of him. While she refused to fight back, she did all she could to try and snap him out of it, stupidly brave unto the moment of losing consciousness. The most recent moment was facing off against Erin Ryan in an attempt to cure her. While the venture was unsuccessful, everything about it should have had her running. An average person would have, but she stood her ground. Every moment meant to tear her down and make her run only helped her fortify the walls around her.

This remained a constant theme as the years carried on. Fear would make its attempt to freeze her in her tracks or tell her to tuck tail and run, but Hogwarts taught her to ignore it so that whatever needed to be done could be. There was no longer room in her life for hesitation or fear.

Beauty is one thing, but there was something different about the soul. From a very young age, Tuesday had found beauty in nature. Nature can look pretty, but that wasn't the draw for him. Nature was violent but honest, passionate, and capable of showing compassion with its violence. As a younger child, Tuesday's parents filled their home with fierce and unruly plants. Venomous Tentacula and Screech Snaps are by no means beautiful plants, but the boy could see the beauty that nature had made. The Venomous Tentacula had developed these poisons and powerful jaws to defend itself. The sentient plant was not visually pleasing, nor something people considered sweet or pleasant to look at, yet nature's beautiful inner workings had enraptured the young Tuesday. Screechsnap, however annoying, may not be the most likely to survive in the wild but could move and sing with such grace. Physical beauty was always lovely, but by no means was Tuesday swayed to such a degree as others. As an introduction to Ilvermorny, Tuesday quickly found himself somewhat different from his classmates when it came to crushing on one another. Of course, he found several of his classmates cute, but there was nothing more than that.

Not that children are using their natural looks to try to influence the young Tuesday, but he couldn't be bothered. The child was still unswayed either way. There was something deep down that Tuesday knew that he couldn't feel any attraction whatsoever without understanding and knowing the other's personality. Maybe it was the fact that he was all too aware that pretty flowers could carry poison or thorns, but he was always supremely wary of cute or handsome faces. Like nature, people could be lovely but extremely dangerous. The most important thing was being able to discern the difference between when something is beautiful only in looks or if true beauty was able to radiate past physical eyes. Without that ability, could anybody possibly understand and know what things were, or would they be distracted by a beautiful view while they fall off the side to their death? That's where Tuesday and others differed. He was able to see through the facade. It wasn't an innate ability but rather years of experiencing how brutal mother nature could be with his parent's study of dangerous plants in their own Savannah home. It was a lesson that had stuck with the boy for his life in its entirety.

Being observant was always a boon to young Tuesday Irons. Many chose to speak and be willfully ignorant of their surroundings, but never Tuesday. Growing up in a house that was a slice cut from the wildest of jungles, you were dead if you weren't aware. Sharp eyes were never an innate trait for Irons but rather something he learned very quickly. Skills always grow the more they are utilized, so it would make sense that after years of practice, the child would be fantastic at picking out the slightest hints of strange things around him.

Tuesday was still a quiet and demure child in his second year at Ilvermorny. He chose to stay calm and observe rather than acting like a fool and drawing attention to himself. Tuesday spent many late nights walking the corridors of Ilvermorny when he should have been in his small bunks. Every crack that wormed its way through the long passages that littered the castle walls had been noted by the young Horned Serpent and filed away into the expansive halls of his mind palace. It was his goal to map out every passageway inside the vast walls of Ilvermorny. Not a terribly original intent, but it was still the goal he had laid his eyes on.

The boy had a knack for finding new and exciting paths around the school. Of course, he would never end up on time, but these paths were seldom shortcuts. Luckily even at such a young age, the kid enjoyed taking the scenic route. Whether it was luck or skill in spotting things that might not be as it seemed, Tuesday couldn't tell. More than likely, it was a combination of both. Even at his age, Tuesday could tell that much.

Months spent wandering the maze-like halls had trained his eyes to catch some minor details that scarred the weathered stone. Any changes he was bound to notice. Not that the stories those marks told led anywhere fruitful, but there was a hope that maybe one day it would lead him on a fantastical journey. His observation skill would eventually lead him towards treasure or adventure, but his second year at Ilvermorney would leave him wanting. The stoney eyes of Tuesday were vigilant and constantly on watch. He was determined to keep everything in his vigil. The boy refused to be caught off guard and pull any secret that might be hiding in the darkness

Raising a kid isn't easy. Especially if you're like Holly Ruisch, an elderly retired Auror who never had any children of her own. But when a single dad who happened to be a wizard like her moved into the neighbourhood looking for a babysitter for his bright-eyed daughter, Holly accepted.

Colina was about as rambunctious as you can expect from a small child and Holly couldn't just keep her occupied with whatever was on television, mostly because she didn't own one. So, she would keep Colina occupied by giving her full range of her bookshelf or having her help with her baking. But the times when Colina got bored of sitting around or already had too many sweets, she would keep her occupied with scavenger hunts.

The scavenger hunts weren't anything special, Holly would just hide various little knick knacks around her property, but Colina loved every single one of them. It gave her such a rush of dopamine to find a small doll sitting in the hollow of a specific tree or a tiny note reading "You found me!" when she found the book Holly's clue was referring to.

Holly had, at first, assumed that those hunts would keep her occupied for hours on end. She was less than ten years old after all, the answers to these clues shouldn't come to her immediately. Yet, no matter how seemingly hard the clue was, Colina always seemed to know exactly where she needed to find every single object Holly had hidden. She even found them just as fast when Holly abandoned the clues all together and just gave her a list of items to find. Colina always just seemed to know.

Whether it be because of those constant scavenger hunts or that odd intuition, Colina continued to collect items and trinkets she found. It wasn't things she found interesting though, she always collected things she felt would become useful later on. One time on a walk, Colina went out of her way to fish a queen of spades she saw sticking out of gutter. A few weeks later, a card went missing from her dad's deck, which turned out to be said card.

Deciding to put this unique trait to a better use, Holly lent Colina a couple of books on herbology and potions before she went off to Hogwarts, saying that half of the ingredients needed for her potion assignments can be found in a day's trip through the forest. So, she might as well save the galleons and collect them herself.

Turns out, Holly was right. During her First Year at Hogwarts, Colina would always have the ingredients needed for the potion tucked away in her small box full of collectibles. And when she did need to collect items for her projects, it was nice to have that knowledge on things like when you can and cannot safely collect hemlock.
