Biggest Loser in Hufflepuff
"The next book? Is he your dad? I knew it..." George asked. He paused, the gears turning in his little head until he glanced back at the pile and realized a Selwyn original was at the top. A bit of blush coloured his face as he realized he was beating the hell out of her father's book. When he realized that June might have inside information on the future of the plot, he narrowed his eyes and pointed an accusatory finger at her. "No! Don't tell me the plot of the next one, you little doxy! No spoiling or I'll curse your tongue into a knot!"
With that warning out of the way, it was back to the task at hand. "No, not Jack Burnett, Jack Warren," he said, hastily explaining away his earlier comment. He looked down at his own, lesser half of the every flavour bean, watching her carefully. She wanted to eat it? Not only that, but she was willing to take the larger half in the name of friendship. Something didn't add up. Perhaps this behaviour would have compelled him if she had been in his house. The sorting hat could be her reference for her loyalty. As it stood, her house membership was a testament to her trickery. He would not fall for this.
"One, two, three," he said, bringing the handful of mushed bean up to his face and pretending to pop it into his mouth. He mimed chewing, though his eyes opened wide as he realized that the girl was not tricking him. Evidently, she had eaten her half of the bargain, and George hastily opened his empty mouth to stuff in half of the every flavor bean. "Shorry!"
The apology left his mouth as the horrid taste of everything hit his mouth all at once. Oh, god! There was definitely more bogeys in this batch than blueberries, and mixing the two didn't make the former any more pleasant. "Merlinsh bearshhh!" he said, gagging as he physically recoiled from the taste, reaching up to grab his throat like he had been poisoned.
He struggled hard to swallow down the lump of candy, chewing rapidly to break it up into manageable chunks, even as each bite unearthed new and horrible flavor combinations he had not been prepared for. Pina colada booger, dirt cheesecake, and all other manner of Frankenstein flavors paraded down his gullet. Finally, he swallowed the last of it. Perhaps trauma was the fastest way to make friends, as he certainly felt closer to June as they shared the experience of him retching in the middle of the compartment. "That's absolutely horrible. Oh my god!"
His tongue hung out of his mouth as he tried to blow the flavor off of it, expelling his toxic breath throughout the cabin, though it was no doubt just as vile tasting as the flavor lingering in June's mouth. "If you're really my friend, you'll let me have a peppermint toad. It's life or death!"

June rolled her eyes. "I just told you that I didn't know anything! Wait, did you.. Did you not know until just now?" June stared, questioning how he'd just now put two and two together. How many Selwyns existed in the world, after all? "Well, I'm glad you didn't know before now. That would be a bit problematic." She rummaged around in her bag, pulling out her first-edition copy of The Tales of Thundelarra. "Seems we have similar taste in books."
"Three."
June squeezed her eyes shut for a moment as she popped The Bean into her mouth. A cacophony of horrid things swam around, tormenting June's taste buds. She opened her eyes, covering her mouth with her hand, only to see that George was just now holding up his end of the bargain. Her eyes narrowed. "Goersh Henr-" the taste of her words made June gag. Alarm bells were going off in nearly every "thing that you should not taste" category in June's mind. Flavours of wet dog, dirty sock, and old cheese were only temporally replaced by a delightful blueberry or fairy floss before the delightfulness mixed with the hellish experience, only making everything worse. June let out a closed-mouth cry of anguish as she chewed The Bean as fast as humanly possible, before forcefully and painfully swallowing it to get the experience over with. She looked over at George, who was finishing the last of his The Bean, trying not to retch as he did. "That," she coughed, "was a terrible idea."
Her eyes widened as George thought of what their salvation would be. "Yes! The peppermint toads!" She tossed one to George before ripping the package of one of the others, devouring it as if it was the first meal she had eaten in weeks. She covered her mouth as she chewed, letting the cool mint clear away the transgressions of taste. It didn't remedy it completely, her breath was probably still quite rank, but it was a hell of a lot better than before.
She sighed, feeling like she had aged a few years in those few seconds. "Right. We're friends now, then."
The remaining hours were spent chittering away, as if there was never any animosity between the two. Occasionally the thought would float across June's mind that George Henry still hadn't apologized, but the power of experiencing The Bean together would wash it away, it was good enough. George mostly talked about broom racing, going on and on about the sport in his very George-Henry way. June found herself listening quite intently as he described it, the thrills and strategies and obstacles. Broom racing, huh? Perhaps June had some thinking to do over the summer...
