Well, that wasn't who she was talking to, but good enough. June smiled at her peer, Colin, "Hello, Colin! I was referring to her," June gestured toward the other girl, "but I'll take any daisies you have. Thank you! Selwyn, by the way. I've also seen you around quite a bit, it's nice to meet you proper." She accepted the bunch of daisies and set them aside. "Me? No, I'm not making this for anyone in particular. I'm just, you know, creating, I suppose." She smiled, "I'm sure this 'Jarael' will love it, you've done a wonderful job."
And then someone came up and bowed to them. The Queen of.. Hearts? "I'm.. I'm sorry?" June looked around for an ounce of context, but none was there. She sat, shifting awkwardly, as the boy looked at her and Colin through... Honestly she wasn't sure what it was. And then he walked away.
This was perhaps one of the strangest days June had ever experienced.
She thanked Colin once more and turned back to making in silence.
Her fingers felt nimble as she picked up the daisies and weaved them together. It felt nice to do something without a particular purpose for once. Just doing for the sake of doing alone.
It was at this moment June realized she had only one hobby. Reading. She didn't collect, she didn't play a game, she didn't learn about a particular subject, she was a part of no clubs. She read, and that was it. Of course, reading was very rewarding to June, and she didn't mind it at all. But it was, as hard as it was for June to admit, quite a boring hobby. Even though the mind was transported into incredible situations and your heart rate could skyrocket, truly all you were doing was sitting in silence. Or standing, perhaps, if it was a particularly intense chapter. Maybe even the elusive pace-and-read. But no matter how, you were silently spending time alone.
And if it was your only hobby, what did that say about you as a person? Whatever it was, June decided that she didn't want those things to be said about her.
Could this be her hobby? Making... Making things? She thought as her fingers flitted about, tying stems together. She paused to look at her creation. Although she was enjoying the process, it was far from a perfect result in her opinion. And while she didn't want to be known for only being a lonely bookworm, she certainly did not want to be known as a lonely bookworm who also made sad-looking crafts. So perhaps not.
Collecting, then? It was a common enough hobby with enough variety to make it not entirely un-unique. But what would she collect? Books? No, that'd only exacerbate the problem. Chocolate frog cards? She had a small collection already, but June didn't think she was passionate enough about them to dedicate time to searching for cards that she was missing. Besides, buying that many sweets got expensive.
This was not going well. June had come here for a nice, relaxing time, and instead she was experiencing Introspective Hour featuring Feeling Bad About Your Interests. She finished the last knot of the flower crown she was working on (at this point she had absentmindedly made several) and tossed it aside. Sighing, June stood and brushed herself off. Sitting here and moping about wasn't going to be helpful, so there was no point being there any longer. She gave her small pile of makings a last glance before walking away and leaving them behind.

Springtime Showers & Summer Flowers

Kayla had always been drawn to the nature outdoors, mostly because this was where she liked to paint. And this day was particularly good. She woke up bright and early, ready to go out and paint the morning scenery outside, when she remembered that she had been invited to go make flower crowns. She hesitated, should she skip? The morning was beautiful and she didn't want to miss it. Kayla had come to a decision- she could go down and paint really quickly, then go down to make the crowns. She grabbed a small sack with some of ber paints and brushes and a small notebook, and rushed outside, without even having breakfast or greeting anyone on the way. She set her sack down and took out her brushes, starting to paint. She moved her brush around for about twenty minutes before looking over at the people creating the crowns. Once again, she hesitated. Leave a half finished drawing, or go do something fun with friends?
"Your point less," she muttered to herself, parking up. She ran down to the camp grounds at full speed, excited for what was ahead. She plopped herself down on a picnic blanket and took a pile of daisies lying by her.
Kayla discovered that weaving flower crowns was probably going to better than painting. She spent a few minutes with daisies and other flowers, carefully stringing them together with full concentration, before presenting her masterpiece: an abstracted, weirdly made, beautiful flower crown. She tried it on for good spirits and decided to make more for her siblings when she saw them again. She set her creation down, and ventured on to find flowers that matched her siblings' personality. She went to a rose Bush and began picking, when she got a so all thorn in her index finger. "Aw Hades no..." She said, sucking her finger, still having a bunch of roses in one hand. She set the roses down, went off to pick around in the bush, despite the pain she was feeling from the last time (which was, mind you, just a few minutes ago) she had looked through the rose bush. After a few seconds of looking (read: dismantling) the bush, Kayla had succeeded in getting a second poke from the roses. Fun! She figured the roses didn't like her much and set off to find some new flowers to pick. (In other words, dismantle).
She couldn't find the right flower.
Of course she couldn't.
Kayla had been searching for a particular flower to make a crown for her best friend. No, not Sam. Freya. They had met a while back before the start of their first year. And Kayla thought it was a kind gesture to make a flower crown for her dear best friend.
The struggle was, every flower she had picked, politely taken from other students and no matter how many bushes she had dismantled, she didn't seem able to find the perfect flower.
She sat cross legged on a different picnic blanket, weaving together another crown. Careful Not to prick herself, she added the roses. She held her creation up.
"beautiful," she muttered, setting it down. She was quite proud of what she had just made, she was sure Freya would love it. Well, she thought, who doesn't like flower crowns? Just as she thought that she made a mental list of about half a dozen people who didn't like flower crowns. Or atleast people who wouldn't be excited to get one as a gift, anyway.
But of course one flower crown wasn't enough for Kayla. Oh no. She didn't have to create two flower crowns, some wreaths, hair ties as well as bracelets and bows.
So that's exactly what Kayla did.
She stood up to collect more flowers (should someone be called? She was going to pick all the flowers!) She skipped and did cartwheels happily - which might've looked cute expect her hair was all tangled and she had dirt all over the front and back of her skirt, which she had just got cleaned the night before. She plucked flowers from the ground, taking other fallen flowers that had dropped from other students hands. It seemed as Kayla had made it her mission to make a bracelet, hair tie and wreath for each member in her dormantry. She would've taken it into her ow hands to make one for every one in her House (Hufflepuff), but the sun was going down and she needed to catch the sunset for a good paint, since she had skipped painting in the morning - not exactly skipped, but more like she decided that picking flowers and weaving and being with people was more important than painting. That was the hopelessly extroverted side of her talking. But the art-sy and introverted side of her told her that making flowers into bonnets was hopeless - more hopeless than her extroverted-ness. Which is saying something, because Kayla liked talking to people more than almost anything in the world. Well, the wizarding world anyway. Because in the muggle world, there was muggle chess (wizard chess made her nervous), painting, her old school friends from her old school - actually listing it down, Kayla realized that she didn't do enough things in her life. Which just made he'd angry. Which made her kind of excited to do new things. Which made her nervous. Oh gods, why did she feel too many emotions. Well it's not really my fault that my brain is active twenty - four seven. she thought, picking up a weed that looked like good weaving material. She sat down one last time to work. She dug in her art bag and picked out some stuff she always carried with her: beads. She always loved decorative beads becauss they remained her of marbles. Which reminded her of the muggle world. Which also reminded her of her siblings. Which reminded her of home- shut up. She told her brain, which just kept buzzing with memories as she looked at the beads in her hand. She looped the beads through the bows and bracelets, and she finally finished. Her hands were covered in blisters and small scars from picking.
She finally felt satisfied and picked all her creations. She was happy, she set off towards the lake to paint the sky. Today was an enjoyable day.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Kim could see the cat sniffing the air. Surely it couldn't be sniffing for him, right? It was just a thing all cats tended to do from time to time. But then it took off, apparently with a mission in its mind, and it was heading in his general direction. Kim's face paled a bit and he plastered himself up against the trunk of the tree. The blond's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this precarious situation he was going to be in soon. If the cat found his location. Glancing down, he noticed that the tree he'd hidden behind happened to be the one with his satchel and Puffie inside. Oh, perfect! All he needed now was to grab the crowns he'd made back at his table. Ah, but Kim still needed to make one last crown. One with daisies. Eh, he could just grab the mats, and do it back at the dorms. Getting away from the cat was his first priority above anything and everything else. He quickly peeped out behind the tree and Puffie squeaked from his satchel. "Shhh!!" Kim exclaimed in a heated whisper. The last thing he needed was for the cat to be drawn to him due to the sound. Puffie must have realized that it was important to be quiet right now, since he settled down again. After a certain period of time, Kim decided to make his move. But knew he would have to be quick about doing this. Cats could move incredibly fast. Slinging the bag strap over his shoulder, he darted for the table and swiped the flower crowns into his satchel. "Sorry, Puffie. I'm trying to rush to avoid the cat, dodge the incoming 'missiles'." Kim apologized to his ball of pink fur and Puffie squeaked again. He wasn't sure what it meant but decided to think of it as acceptance. Reaching over he threw a bunch of daisies into the satchel as well as a bunch of other flowers. Grabbing some things to help him construct the last flower crown he needed to do, he quickly left the area. Hopefully, he'd done it before the cat was able to find him. Even if it did, he'd be heading away from the area and the cat would most likely stay. It wouldn't follow him back to the dorms, right? Kim could see it now, he'd be back at the dorms and the cat would be right behind him on his heels. People might even speculate that he'd gotten a cat and mistake it to be his own pet. The blond headed away from the area, back towards the dorms, deciding to always put an allergy potion into his satchel from now on. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────
actions: Kim leaves the thread and goes back to the dorms. notes: Kim finishes all but one of his flower crowns and grabs some mats to make the last crown somewhere else. He tries to leave quickly to avoid the potential dangerous encounter with Figaro, Pierre's cat, who is currently searching for him. ------------------------------ tags: @Piérre Marchonné word count 460 coded by draven mirador |
