It was a nice day, classes had just ended and dinner would not be for another few hours. One of the main reasons Logan had found herself lounging in the courtyard, enjoying the sun on her face. She could hear the laughter of other students as they made their way through the courtyard and the chatter of others who were playing small games, also enjoying the nice weather.

The Hufflepuff did not mind the noise, it was comforting to know that at the moment everything was okay and she did not have to deal with any arguments between students. Logan was currently lay out across one of the benches, her bag laying on the ground beside the bench with her robes tossed over it. Her arms rested behind her head, eyes closed as she just listened. Allowing herself to just relax before she went to her room to change before dinner and retrieve her cat. She trusted he would behave while she was out.

It did not take long before the girl was almost asleep, the warm sun causing her to become tired and the exhaustion from the day catching up to her. It would not be the worse thing to fall asleep in the courtyard, although someone was bound to wake her up at some point. With her breathing soft, Logan slowly started to drift off forgetting about everything going on around her. To be honest, what is the worst that could happen, she was just napping in the courtyard.

Emma was mentally done with learning. She was ready for the freedom that came with no more homework, and definitely no more review. It seemed like more information was being crammed into her head than at the beginning of the year when she felt like the professors were speaking an entirely different language. But she had learned enough that she understood most conversations now. Though there were still some terms or things that were out of her reach. She had also been learning her new prefect roles, which she was enjoying, even though it sometimes meant getting after people.
Back to the point, she was done with classes for the day and not ready to turn to the homework they had been assigned, so instead decided to grab one of the books she had borrowed from the library with her to the courtyard where she could soak up some sun and take a break from learning. Then she could get supper, get changed and get done the things she needed to as well as do her patrols. Maybe she could even sneak in a bath in the prefect’s bathroom.

Entering the courtyard, she tipped her head to the sun, taking a deep breath and feeling some of the stress melting away. Moving to the side, out of the way, she looked around for an empty bench or really any surface she could sit on. Deciding she might as well stroll while she found a place to sit, Emma began to walk, pulling the heavy, hardcover book about magical creatures that she had borrowed from the library the other day out of her bag, holding it carefully with the one hand, although really she should probably use two.

Turning her head for a moment, she was shocked when her foot caught on something, and she fell forward. The book was released from her hand as she brought them forward to catch herself, hitting the ground with her hands and knees, the hard surface causing pain where she hit. Gasping slightly, Emma moved to a sitting position, checking her hands and knees, seeing some minor cuts and scrapes, on both her hands and on her knees. The stone had caused tears in the knee of her pants. Breathing calmly, she saw that her right shoe had come untied and figured she must have tripped on it.

It took her a moment, after checking herself over, to realize she should also retrieve the book she had been carrying. Looking around, she cringed as she noted the book had landed on a nearby student who seemed to have been lying on a bench. Scrambling to stand, she quickly moved towards them, practically in tears as she recognized a fellow Hufflepuff Prefect. “Oh my goodness! I am so sorry! My shoe came untied, and I tripped, and the book just went….” Emma mimed the book flying out of her hand and made a move as if to grab it but then realized she’d have to touch them. Not that she would have anything against touching them but they might not want to be touched. “I know it’s quite large, I hope it didn’t hurt?”

Being hit with something was not how Logan expected to wake up, so when she was hit with something hard and heavy she gasped awake. "Oh god," she muttered as she clutched the spot that had been hit. Looking down, the Hufflepuff noticed she had been hit with a book and glanced up at the voice. Slowly sitting up, Logan clutched the book in one hand and held it out to the younger girl.

"That is definitely one way to wake someone up Emma," she joked a bit with a soft smile as she made sure she did not have any other injuries other than a bruise from where the large book had hit. Listening to the girl apologize, she only laughed, especially at the girl's miming of the book flying. "You did not hurt me too bad, just a bruise, but are you okay. You did trip and fall," the girl questioned. One thing Logan was known for throughout her friends was helping when someone needed. Emma was the youngest of the Hufflepuff prefects and Logan wanted to make sure that she was okay and not terrified of the fact she had accidently thrown a book at a third year.

Looking down, Logan quickly made sure her bag was not in the way. "Are you sure you did not trip over my bag?" assuming that it was a possibility that the girl had tripped over it instead of her untied shoelace. Logan had tripped over her own bag many times before, so it really would not have been a surprise to her if someone else had done the same.

Mentally groaning, Emma couldn’t believe her luck, or rather misfortune. Really, she was clumsy but she had thought that she was starting to get over that only to be taken down by an untied shoelace. Honestly, she should have expected it. Taking a moment, she tied her shoelace quickly before looking up at where Logan sat. Carefully taking the book, she placed it back in her bag, taking a few moments to make sure it was settled and would not be damaged, more so as a distraction from what she was sure would be an embarrassing conversation. It was certainly one way to make an impression on her fellow prefect.

“Wholly unintentional, honestly. It seems quite a rude way to wake someone up.” Emma blushed bright red, hopeful that Logan’s tone of voice that she wasn’t insulted or anything like that, and hopefully not too badly. Emma breathed a sigh of relief, glad that the large book had not done more damage. It had been quite heavy and honestly she wasn’t sure how it had flown like that. Though she supposed it was all about the angle that she had released the book had. That would likely have meant it went high. “I’m glad it’s not worse. I regret getting such a big book from the library now.” Chuckling nervously, Emma clutched the strap of her bag.

Quick to reassure Logan, she said “No, no no. Untied shoelace all the way. Your bag wasn’t even near my feet when I tripped. Other than flying books, how has your day been?” Emma asked eagerly, hoping the elder prefect didn’t mind that she wasn’t slinking off in shame. Which honestly had been the first thing to cross her mind.
