Going into this next volley of spells, it was evident to Bridget that Hufflepuff had clawed their way back. For a while Gryffindor had pretty clearly had the upper hand, but not anymore. It was telling that both Lucia and Lindsey went on the attack, telling that Elsa, in contrast, was taking the time to boost Sylvie's strength. Gryffindor wasn't behind, by any means, but coasting out the rest of the match was not going to be an option for them.

At this crucial moment at which the scales could easily tip either way, two things were working to Gryffindor's advantage. The first was that Sylvie had returned to the offensive and was back on her A-game, brutal winds tearing from her wand for Lindsey, who though making a valiant effort, couldn't escape the sheer speed at which the jinx rushed in. Not only was Sylvie's aim sharp, but she was plenty ready to duck away from Lucia's Flipendo.

In fairness to Lucia, her aim might have been a bit thrown by the second thing that was working to Gryffindor's advantage: Lindsey's curse-induced cold. While it could have been purely her own failure, it seemed more likely that Lindsey's ability to cast well was severely messed up by the sickness. Sneezing and with a steadily worsening headache, the fire she surely meant for the other side of the stage veered toward Lucia. The Hufflepuff dodged it with ease, but perhaps at the cost of her attention being fully on hitting Sylvie. As the figurative dust settled and the duellists took their moment to breath between casts, it looked like Gryffindor was pulling ahead again, but there was still time.

This duel was nearly over, and considering Syl was worse for wear, she honestly couldn't wait. Of course, she kept an air of unbothered positivity about her, but deep down she was screaming because of the fact that she was being hit left and right all the time. Goodness, she'd need a trip to the medical wing after this.

Lindsey was still suffering from the cursed cold, and her headache was worsening every minute she stayed on stage. A sneeze and a shake of arm, her spell went veering toward Lucia instead of the one she originally meant. Gasping in horror, she let out a sigh of relief when Lucia jumped out of its way. “Sorry…” she muttered apologetically, her voice weakening. The headache was causing her much trouble, and all she wanted was to stick to the very end.

Elsa and Lucia had been donning their healer caps intermittently throughout the duel, and apparently they'd decided they needed to take them out again. With another purple glow, Elsa pulled Sylvie further back from the edge, reducing the vulnerability Hufflepuff might have wished to press to their advantage. If Sylvie had started looking a little shaky at any point, she no longer did.

When Bridget had dueled the Gryffindor pair, Elsa had been the primary threat, spell after spell of hers landing true. But they had kept Sylvie unable to cast for a decent portion of the duel and today it was very clear that she packed a deadly punch. Elsa stepping back as the healer to boost their primary attacker made sense, and had the next Knockback Jinx Sylvie sent hit, it would have hurt. But Lindsey, perhaps recognizing she was struggling too much to try to cast anyway, was ready for it. Even with all her efforts concentrated on dodging (though a fair bit of focus was likely diverted to dealing with her running nose and steady sneezing), it was a narrow escape. Still, Lindsey had escaped.

That very moment was where she should have felt a wash of relief, an easing of some of her hurts and cold symptoms. But that would sadly not be the case; Lucia seemed to be struggling a bit with her wand today. Bridget would say she was performing decently overall, but there had been a few hiccups here and there. Again, her wand refused to let out anything more than irritated sparks, and no one except Lucia would know just how near she had been to true disaster, prevented only by the Hufflepuff's skill and dedication.
