*Responding to Wesley Hart*
"Er... no, I wouldn't say that... It's only a drink, and you aren't being inconsiderate at all," Phaedra uttered, adding in a laugh afterward to try to ease the tense atmosphere that she felt had started to wash over their immediate area. She was getting vibes that her date was in an odd mood and it was starting to make her feel conscious. Just a bit. Did he really think she'd do that? Did other people think she was mean? Hurt, her mouth tightened into a thin line as she twisted her body to look behind them where Wes was pointing.
Wes' offhand mention of Ian's romantic preferences went right over her head. "Oh, alright then. He looks really nice as well," she said, wondering idly why the Gryffindor had to specify that his brother's "friend" was a boy. Of course he was, she could see that. The Stavrous were a traditional bunch; romances and courtships were never spoken of in her household, let alone those that were same-sex, and if someone were around to explain the latter she likely would have questioned how such a thing was possible. And what was a boyfriend anyway? To her little knowledge, couples were either engaged or married. Nonetheless, Phaedra didn't push her friend's strange word choice and instead looked back to him. Maybe "boyfriend" was some unusual slang from wherever he came from, and maybe technically, it meant Wes was hers too.
"Stop the constant apologising, it's really odd." Now slightly irked, she asked, "And is that why you're being so..." she trailed off, motioning her hands wildly towards Wes - maybe a nicer word would be better suited for his awkward behavior tonight. "Quiet, right now? Because you've never been to a ball before, and you're nervous?"
Attempting to console him (and trying her damnedest to keep a conversation going), Phaedra scooted her chair closer to him. "It really isn't that bad, dancing at balls, that is. I've gone to plenty of them. Just try to pretend that no one else is watching - easier said than done, obviously - but just look at me the entire time. It helps. Please don't be afraid, I would never judge you. You're my friend."
So concerned with the Hart boy, Phaedra hadn't noticed her other friends and acquaintances walk into the ballroom. She laid a hand on Wes' shoulder and gave it a quick pat. "It'll be fun. Now, I'm going to get something to snack on. You can come if you'd like." She removed her hand and stood, using the back of her chair to maintain balance in her heels. This wasn't as fun as she had hoped. Maybe when the music picked up, so would their mood.

She felt herself blush when Eric commented her flowers. She wasn't used to compliments, but his sincere smile made her believe him.
She listened while he talked about his experiences at tournaments and couldn't help but imagine a big race of richly adorned winged horses. So far she had never seen any winged horses, had only heard from them in stories and myths. Silly, when one considered that she herself was a witch. "Tournaments, that sounds incredible! Did you learn to ride as well?" she asked eager to hear more, when he mentioned Calan Haf. "Yes", she quickly said, eyes wide and happy that he would know of the rural festival. "Yes, yes, similar to Calan Haf, although Up Helly Aa is more... mh fiery."
With a smirk she watched Eric react but she couldn't wait too long until she continued. "My dad had taken me and my brother two years ago to see it for ourselves. Hundreds of people disguise themselves as Vikings, and they have a whole ship built. During nightfall they start to walk through the city, dancing and singing and with bright self made torches. "
Frowing she realized that she had gestured wildly with her hands and put herself to halt. "Oh, sorry," she said when she felt a strong push on her shoulder. She was astonished to see Alma in front of her, wearing a simple blue robe. Marcia had thought that Alma wouldn't want to visit the ball, to see her was a pleasant surprise. More friendly faces among too much tull. Alma looked equally irritated as Marcia herself had felt only moments ago. "Alma, I wouldn't have expected to see you either! Welcome," she declared her hands wrapped around Almas arm. "We were talking about some festivals. Have you ever been to Up Helly Aa? I was telling Eric about the large procession with torches. Can you imagine a sea full of fire bulbs wandering through the city?"

Rosie smiled back at Howie. She was still smiling. "Thank you Howie. You're kind of great yourself." Of course she punctuated the compliment with another blush. Had that been cheesy? Howie always knew what to say. "I think maybe we're both odd in the muggle world, but here we belong." Or almost, at least. After all, the muggle born students had all just begun to deal with a brand new reality that for other students had been a reality since birth. There was definitely a learning curve.
She laughed brightly as Howie twirled her. As their dance came to an end, it wasn't lost on Rosie that Howie hadn't relinquished either one of her hands. So, she didn't move hers, either. She liked this. "Let's get some food. I saw they have chocolate covered strawberries. They're my favorite."
As they were talking, Verla came running up. The spell was now broken. Rosie released Howie's hands self consciously, though hesitantly. Not because she was ashamed of Howie. It was just... she didn't know how to explain this. Thankfully, Verla didn't comment or ask any questions. Instead, she talked.. a lot... and fast. Had she been able to get a word in, she would have told her friend that she understood. She would have tried to comfort her, having seen the picture that the girl left behind. But before she could speak, Verla was back at the punch bowl. She turned back to Howie, her eyes wide in surprise. "What just happened?" She wasn't actually sure if she was referring to that dance, holding hands after, or the strange interaction with Verla. Maybe she meant all of it.

{Responding to Arceus Powers}
The girl smiled while chatting with the new girl she met, She seemed kind and caring and she adored her personality already. Hearing her voice being called she turns to see a sweet Hufflepuff boy she had met quite a few times before, That Hufflepuff was non other than Arceus Powers.
Giving the boy a bright smile and letting out a small laugh at his stuttering ''Hey Arceus'' She said waving her hand slightly showing her red and white nails that she enjoyed tapping on a table with.

A slight tint of red crossed her nose spreading across her cheeks ''Thank you, You look handsome too?'' She said not really sure how to respond to the compliment coming from a guy. ''I didn't think you were coming?'' She asked tilting her head to side in curiosity.
''Hm? Well originally I wasn't coming but since all the girls kept talking about it I got curious so I decided to come along'' She said giving a slight smile.
She enjoyed the boys company it was nice to have him around..Almost too nice..She was used to people kind of being more straight forward while Arceus was shy and kind. She of course didn't mind it at all it just kinda ticked her off sometimes. She would't tell him that not wanting to hurt the boy's feelings.
Like her mother always said ''Some things are better left off unsaid'' She smiled remember her mothers words as she kept chatting with the blonde boy.
His hair was absolutely adorable! She just wanted to pet it but keeping that urge away by keeping her hands behind her back and smiling or nodding when he spoke to her.
''Ava I hope this isn't annoying for you, If you want you can go around I'll be here if you need me'' She said to the girl making sure she was having fun as well.
Lucy turned back to face the boy sipping from her glass of water. ''Didn't you tag along with Blaze?'' She asked about the other boy he usually hung out with. Realizing that might have come off as she didn't want him around her she waved her hands in front of her. ''Its not that I don't mind you here alone I just wanted to check up on Blaze'' She said giving him the sweetest smile she could pull off.

{ Responding to Cecily Quinn }
Amadea's head shot up as she heard her name being called. Scanning the ballroom, she couldn't pick out who it was that had said her name. Given, there was a huge crowd of people now in the room and Amadea could be hallucinating. To be honest, she wouldn't have been surprised if she had just imagined it. Social gatherings threw her off.
Thankfully, her suspicions died as she spotted a flash of blonde hair trying to cut through the crowd over to where Amadea and Adam were now seated. To Amadea's surprise, the girl looked as though she was radiating happiness. If Amadea knew anything about Cecily, she knew that Cecily was not one for these types of events. Neither was Amadea; they had bonded over their anti-social habits. If Amadea didn't know her better, she would almost think that Cecily was excited to be here. Amadea wished she could steal some of Cecily's excitement and give it to herself. She wasn't trying to be greedy, but she wished she could enjoy the festivities instead of worrying about the amount of people and how to subtly leave the room without anyone noticing. It wasn't that she didn't want to socialize with her friends, but did they have to socialize in such a social environment?
Amadea shook away the thoughts, reminding herself to be a friendly Hufflepuff as Cecily plopped down in the empty chair next to Amadea. As she looked around the room, Amadea had to admit that the decorations and the atmosphere were in fact breathtakingly spectacular. It seemed as though everything and everyone in the ballroom radiated vibrant colors. Amadea felt self conscious in her plain navy blue dress, but it wasn't like she had any better options. All the poof and lace seemed frivolous to Amadea, and she filled her closet with more modest things. So naturally, when she had written home in search of a dress to wear, her parents sent back a dress that was perfect for Amadea's style, but not so much for the event itself. But who was she kidding? She wasn't going to let her dress be the reason why she was in a bad mood tonight. She didn't want her vibes to infect the upbeat mood of her friends. She was determined to make this a good night for them.
"It is absolutely beautiful," Amadea agreed, twisting in her seat to look around at the decorations and the outfits. "Some dresses seem even more elaborate than the decorations themselves!" she exclaimed with a laugh. Then she turned back to face Cecily and Adam. "Your dress is beautiful," she added. "I'm glad we're all here now!"

"Anyway. I don't see why these balls are such a big deal. They're super boring. All anyone does is stumble like a troll around the room, or just eat food and feel sad because some boy isn't there. I think we should look for our own fun!" At this statement, she stood from her seat and offered a hand to Rosie. "Wanna come?
Oh.. Boy. Trouble? That did not sound like fun. Not at all. Rosie wasn't a big troublemaker, never was, never will be (probably). So the idea of doing something else besides participating in the ball sorta freaked her out. She pursed her lips, thinking. It wasn't all about a boy, she knew that. It didn't even matter. But what mattered is, if she didn't come to the ball to dance and enjoy herself, what would be the point in even showing up? With this in mind, Rosie shook her head. "I mean, it depends, ya know? I came here to have a good time and whatever, I don't wanna ruin it on accident by messing around too much." She quickly changed her phrasing, stuttering. "N-Not that I don't wanna do anything with you! I just..." She sighed. "I am so sorry, what do you have in mind.. The spying thing right?" Rosie asked, smiling a bit.
Did she trust Dorothy? Of course she did! She didn't have a single reason not to, but spying on other people's conversations? Sounded shady and not very nice. Especially since some of the conversations involved her other friends. Rosie seemed hesitant, as 'the good girl next door'.
But what if Dorothy could open her up to something more exciting than sulking in a chair while waiting for an apology from a dense 11 year old?

Another one of Howie’s big grins split his face as Rosie mentioned food. “Yes Rosie, that sounds quite nice.” He replied to her as she mentioned strawberries and chocolate. They were a staple at his parents pastry shop, and he was quite fond of them as well.
Howie was about to turn and walk hand in hand with her to the concession table, what would happen if they just never stopped holding hands? He didn’t think he would mind that one bit, But as they were about to head off, Verla popped up. Howie felt their hands separate, and he wasn’t quite sure why, but somehow a friend witnessing them made him self conscious about it as well. Maybe it was meant to be a private moment, but he couldn’t blame Verla, this was a social event after all. Oh well, Howie would make sure to find another reason to hold Rosie’s hand, that much he knew for sure!
Just as he was about to call out a greeting to Verla, she went into a tirade. She was indeed speaking very fast. Howie knew why she had fled the owlery, she didn’t need to apologize for that, but every time Howie tried to interject, Verla kept going. Before he knew it, she turned on the spot and ran off again.
His gaze returned to Rosie as he gave her a wide eyed expression. “I have no idea what just happened.” He replied to her question. “Maybe she should lay off the punch, too much sugar ya know?” As he met her eyes with his, he saw a meaningful look in them. He blushed slightly and gave her a sheepish smile. It seemed her question was more than just about Verla. “Let’s go get some strawberries, and then maybe we can go for a walk while we eat? Or find a quiet place to sit down?”

The Aurelia must have gave the girl a shock as she almost threw the cup of punch that she had in her hand. Aurelia took a step back and once again, stepping over the many fabric layers of the gown. Luckily, she was quick enough to lean against the round table for support. She regretted not trying it on before the ball as her Mother had instructed her to do so in the owl she sent a week ago. The woman had instructed her to go to madam malkins in daigon alley if there were any problems with the attire, however, Aurelia failed to do so.
“It’s pretty, but not the best to walk in. You look amazing too. I wish my dress was as flowy as yours, my dress just won’t leave my feet alone. ” Aurelia laughed.
“I apologise for keeping you waiting, I couldn’t find the shoes and the dress made me trip muliple times while I was making my way down.” She apologised. The girl had been probably waiting for about 20 minutes. Aurelia never could be so patient if she was waiting. Her impulsive tendencies would lead her somewhere else and she could never kill her boredom if she were just standing.
“Something like that. I’ve invited someone but I doubt he would be coming.” Her braid swayed gently as she shook her head. Charles was probably not going to accept an invitation from someone who had started argument with the moment they had met. Even if he came, she didn’t know if he’d get along well with Winifrey. But Winifrey was by far the nicest girl she had met in Hogwarts and Aurelia really hoped he’d have a change of mind about muggle borns.
A tall boy then walked into the ballroom, he wasn’t dressed for the ball but in his school robes, from what she could tell he was a Slytherin. As he approached them, Aurelia noticed that he was the boy she had met in the study room. She was surprised he actually came but judging by his attire, he didn’t plan on dancing. The other time she saw him, he was seated and Aurelia never expected an eleven year old to be capable of growing such a height. Aurelia was tall herself but her forehead barely leveled up to his nose as he stood in front of her.
The boy began demanding answers to why he was invited to the ball. The girl folded her slim arms and waited for him to finish. She didn’t understand why he was so upset. He could have turned down the invitation if he wanted to but instead he was present just to demand a couple of answers.
“The ball has been an annual event in Hogwarts for a very long time. You can’t assume that a muggle Proffesor created the event just because you don’t like them.” The girl rolled her eyes.
“If you didn’t want to attend the ball, you could have just turned the invitation down. I didn’t drag you here.” She chuckled, answering his question as if it he wasn’t the very least serious.
“Since you’re here, you must as well enjoy the ball, Charles. I’d like you to meet, my roommate Winifrey,” she gestured towards the small brunette. Winifrey’s head barely leveled up with his shoulder. Who knew how tall he looked from her angle.

{Talking with Lucy, Arceus, and Ava}
Blazes face was red he had been running around after he lost his way. First leaving the common room and somehow finds himself in the great hall. After minutes maybe even an hour of running around, he finally found it. It was strange he had been her recently... Well forgetting something was just a think Blaze did so he didn't take much notice of it.
He ran into the room the hair he had worked hard on brushing was all messed up and he felt terrible. "No I must stay positive!" he told himself while looking around for a friend or even just someone he had met before.
There they were Arceus and Lucy the two people Blaze was hoping to stumble into. True both of them hadn't really sounded excited about a ball but Blaze just had some sort of good feeling they would be here.
Lucy and Arceus and a third girl where talking he recognized her it was Ava the girl from the common room "Ye her," Blaze muttered to himself walking towards them he started to brush his hand through his hair as he walked. The first thing that caught his eye was Lucy's bright dress it looked amazing on her. Maybe it was the contrast between her light skin and hair to the bright color whatever it was Blaze couldn't take his eyes off it. He felt a sort of mental warning to stop staring at her kinda like a shiver down his spine. So he quickly looked up and changed the subject. "Ohh its really nice seeing you all here," he chuckled blushing slightly.
Then looking at the other two he looked at Arceus before smiling "I wish I could pull off something nice like that... you know like a tux," he had no time to find or get one from anywhere he had only decided to go to the ball last minute so he wasn't really ready. That was why all he was wearing dress pants and a button-up type shirt.
He then looked at Ava awkwardly and smiled "you look good," he said his face became bright again. Well, he wasn't really used to talking to people so he felt really weird especially because of the setting they were in a ball what kind of cliches would happen on a night like this.

Edric listened with rapt attention as Marcia talked about Up Helly Aa. It surely sounded amazong the way she described it with people singing, dancing and then starting huge bonfires, even if he didn't really know what those Vik- Vikins were supposed to be be. Were they were spirits of dead? Great warriors come back to life to celebrate their triumphs? ...no, muggels couldn't see ghost. Actors then, he decided, who reenacted the glories of the past. His father would have approved of that.
Before he could comment further however or start to explain about the races - he loved everything about them, from the spectacle before the start, the cheering masses in the stand, the betting. to the finish and the elaborate designs of the cloths worn by the winning riders and their mounts - the shout of his name distracted him. Somebody in the crowd had called out to him, and when he turned around he saw Alma coming over to join them.
She wore dress robes, and very beautiful ones of those. They were deep blue with an intricate silver embroidery that fascinated him.
The girl was visbily relieved when she reached them. Edric was happy to see her too, of course, and nodded along when Marcia welcomed their fellow Slytherin. "It's nice to see you, Alma. Your robes are very beautiful! For a while I thought everyone was wearing muggle clothing here."
It was a little embarassing to admit, but the the amount of muggle dress had unnerved him quite a bit. He knew that muggle suits and dresses where generally accepted nowadays, but on a formal ball...
"I would have liked to see that," he admited when Marcia went on about the procession of torches. "It must have looked like a sea of ghost lights."
