yeah, i don't get hungry on meds. previous how i 'got hungry' was...
that slight feeling discomfort in stomach = hungry = time to eat. but now it is mostly just... 12pm = time to eat. because i don't feel that stomach feeling or the urge to eat unless it wears out.

also... idk how to explain it concisely... you know when you bite into something delicious, like a cheeseburger, or shepherds pie ect, and there's that short sweet feeling of mmmmhhh (if you'd search the link between dopamine + food or adhd + dopamine you'd know why). varied levels of gratification usually come with me eating even if its like a banana or sushi or something. i don't get that much anymore (cuz how the meds work to kinda balance dopamine levels in adhd brains). i haven't really been aware of that until meds, how its not 'as nice' when i eat anymore. there is not like the previous... incentive to eat u know?
and it discourages me and becomes just... boring to eat(?) and decreases my appetite or 'motivation' to eat? idk. but i still do try to eat, even if it's much less of a portion because i know i need to. its also quite similar for me to loss of appetite when you have a cold.
(breakfast before the meds kick in is great tho)
how many times have i used 'eat' in this?

that's very interesting. i personally have a bad habit of eating too much junk food. if i went on meds it might actually help me regulate my eating and i might be able to lose some weight lmao

That's one way of doing it. I think it'll only 'regulate' eating unless you follow a schedule because hunger ceases to exist in my brain while on meds. But seriously, I really miss the oomph feeling of satisfaction eating something esp when hungry. I tried to go vegetarian once and started to get anaemic and much hungrier than usual. I'm a little afraid that this appetite thing might cause another problem, but we'll see.

Turning up on work the wrong day because I thought it was Friday on a Thursday. ;-; sometimes... My brain forgets the day like it forgets what I've eaten for lunch - or forgets to eat at all.
I was 100% convinced it was Friday and was looking forward to seeing a cool big dog coming in today- I mean Friday. Props for not taking second dose of meds on Tues and entirely on Wed just so I can eat. I still dislike my brain lol. I guess today will be a productive day now I'm up and going.
Remember to take your meds kiddos.

That made me do a double take! We must live on completely opposite sides of the world, because for me it's still Wednesday!Aurelia Notrésvace wrote: 18 May 2022, 21:42 Turning up on work the wrong day because I thought it was Friday on a Thursday. ;-; sometimes... Writing a - how to ADHD hyperfocus right (hopefully helpful/insightful) article soon.
Not because my brain decided to hyperfocus on hio coding from 7pm-3am a few days ago, throwing off my sleep schedule for almost the entire week. I was trapped and literally couldn't stop and time was fast. It's a double edged sword, really.
Doing this article more for me actually in desperate hopes.
What absurd things have you guys hyperfocused ridiculously on?

Books. I can have the worst attention on everything. I'll struggle to even think when in large crowds but sometimes I can take out a book and read it in the middle of a large screaming crowd of kids I like to call school.
Or writing. Like I cant do anything so Instead I'll start writing or drawing and I get so focused.

Storytime.
So yeah, I did not tell my practical clinic I had ADHD. I didn't realise how much I've been masking (since clinic started in april) - also contributing a lot to my anxiety from being overly conscious on how other clinic staff see me if I have an 'ADHD slip up'. I also find it much easier to mask on meds which curbs some symptoms. I even sneak away to take afternoon med dose under the excuse of a toilet/water break even if at a real inconvenient time cuz I just wouldn't be able to function 'normally' in a clinic setting without. Really really really quiet in clinic because I'm afraid I'll interrupt or say something wrong, missing out on convos and likely seeming v anti social. Didn't realise all that I was doing previously^
Until a recent talk with my lecturer who got some feedback from clinic. They gave me a bad feedback due to being slow and not following (misinterpreted) instructions correctly among others. I finally reluctantly revealed to lecturer I got ADHD indirectly at the last minute lol. My lecturer told me ADHD is nothing to be ashamed of, something I unfortunately don't think true for my case. Also told me it was a 'superpower' or something along the lines... I was distracted tbh. But I should communicate with clinic staff about my condition. I'm still learning how to cope and 'unmask' but I find it so hard because masking is something I do so often irl. And because I've only been diagnosed not to long ago and I may as well have been masking most of my life irl. Makes me feel like I'm totally different person in different settings, and an existential crisis with who I really am.

@Rita Su, @Carly Wilkes, @Ramzy Rossi
@Herbert Lyons
Welcome to the club.
I have taken @Reena Delgado off as requested. Sorry, this took a while, executive dysfunction and lots of irl change are likely the culprit.
@Herbert Lyons How's the diagnosis process if you don't mind me asking. Are you more of the hyperactive type since your 'excess energy' makes me assume so.
