A moment of triumph had proven just what Ari needed to boost his mood. He had no idea who the person was that he had burned the flag of, but he knew he liked the feeling of actually succeeding. That was a rare feat for him when it came to athletics.

But on a broom, he felt invincible.

Should he apologize? He felt the urge to. It would be rude if he didn't. So he turned to face the one he had eliminated, who was apparently named Pax. Still keeping an eye out to save his hide, he called out to them.

"You played well!" He yelled. "Good game!"
Now he felt better. He felt like a fair sport. A smile graced his lips as he ascended even higher, holding tightly to his broom.

Up here, the view of the school grounds was quite breathtaking. It made Ari grateful for the opportunity he was given to be here, to be among such gifted people. And playing a game like this was something he couldn't really do in his neighborhood. Someone's house would most likely catch fire due to the close quarters of housing. There wasn't a lot of room to move around like there was here.

Snapping out of his trance, he turned his mind back to the game. He had one point under his belt. Time to add some more.

The game began, and almost immediately there was an attempt on her flag. Now, it definitely caught Phyllis a bit off guard. She hadn't expected a torch zooming her way quite so soon; really she'd been hoping for a few moments to get the hang of the game, maybe even enough time to shoot off a practice cast before pointing her wand at anyone. But oh well. It came in close, and if this was actual fire she would have felt the warmth coming off of it (which would have been rather nice, the wind was chilly), and by a smaller than optimal but thrill-bringing margin, Phyllis swerved left and darted away as fast as her borrowed broom would carry her, torso brought low over her handle to lessen air resistance and make her a smaller target. "Close!" she called, semi-tauntingly, over her shoulder.

That would not be all, as before she could look to attack, a jet of blue flames raced her way. She managed to shake that attack, too, and found dodging spells to be a little different than dodging people. Spells weren't homing missiles, couldn't adjust their approach like people could, but they did come in faster. Well, so far so good. A glance at her flag confirmed it was still fluttering unsinged in the wind. Two people on her in quick succession; was everyone else getting this much attention? She'd been too preoccupied to know.

Phyllis glanced over both shoulders and did a loop to check if anyone was tailing her, just for good measure. It seemed like she was in the clear--for now, at least, this was a fast-paced game--and that meant she could look to burning some flags of her own. How was she going to win if she didn't get to tallying up points? There was a girl with silvery hair in her vicinity, and unfortunately for her, that was Phyllis' entire criteria for a target at the moment. Her only hope against anyone further off would be sneaking up on them, anyway, because she definitely couldn't outpace anyone in this broom. In she swooped, coming in from behind and slightly above. Okay, here goes this casting thing. She did the spell successfully, and had avoided the problem of her spell missing widely if she tried to aim from far away by getting right up to the girl's flag. A point-blank shot, if you will, but her fire wasn't the only one that caught. No, there were two, and looking up, the culprit was none other than Maxi, who had also taken out another person, apparently. "Show off," was her comment, but Phyllis was actually incredibly impressed. Two spells in one cast? Dang.

That also meant he was winning. And she didn't have any huge problem with Maxi winning, would probably act annoyed for a few minutes and then move on. Still, winning was ever so much more fun. She couldn't split her spells like that, so she supposed she was just going to have to fly fast and burn more flags. With a cheery "Later!", she moved away from Maxi and the two people they'd just taken out just as quickly as she'd swooped in.

Spotting the pink-haired boy, Pax felt a little heavy- hearted as they flew towards them with their torch outstretched. He seemed to be unaware of their presence, and they reached him pretty quickly. Suddenly, he turned and they almost collided. They managed to quickly dodge, and pursued Hiro quite aggressively, pushing him into a difficult position until the flames of their torch met his flag and ate it up almost satisfactorily.

"Ack, I'm sorry Hiro!" Pax apologised, flying out of the way so he could descend to the ground. "I'll make it up to you at some point!"

However, they barely had time to rest as an older student (Ami Procoppio, the Hufflepuff quidditch co-captain) flew towards them. It seemed like they were cornered as Ami approached with her torch, but quickly, they dove down and then pulled up, similar to the Wronski Feint in quidditch (a move that Pax had been trying to master for a while now), which managed to allow them to barely dodge out of the way of the torch. It was't perfectly executed, but well enough so that they could avoid getting out just yet.

Still, they were targeted. They didn't know what it was that made so many people go for them. Maybe it was because people believed they were good at flying. Pax grinned. They'd flatter themself and believe that.

A Ravenclaw student flew towards them, and Pax tried to dodge it, but their guard was now lowered (though it really ought to have been heightened). With an annoyingly fast reaction, they touched the torch to Pax's flag and watched it burn.

They pouted. They had been doing so well as well. "Good luck!" They called to the Ravenclaw as they flew back down to the ground and went to converse with Hiro.

"Hey Hiro! I'm so sorry for getting you out first!" They gave him a hug (whether or not he accepted it was another matter). "Who do you think will win? I'm guessing the guy who got me out."

The players were off, and the night sky was soon lit up by torches and bluebell flames. It seemed that he still needed some practice to make himself more prominent and could successfully stand out in a crowd, since nobody had decided to choose him as a target. Yet it was a lie to say that Maxi was not satisfied with it - he was glad to be temporarily away from the pandemonium, and to focus on his own plan without being disturbed. And above all, he wasn’t interested in being caught in flames at all - even if they were harmless, cool bluebell flames. Meanwhile Phyllis seemed popular enough, as two students swooped towards her as soon as the whistle was blown, though she dodged them remarkably. Nodding approvingly - he just wished he could be as nimble as her in case anybody was keeping an eye on his flag though for now there were none - Maxi went off and decided to do as what he had decided.

His goal was simple - to survive through the game, and perhaps to target some unfortunate people along his way. Anybody could easily take him out and make him suffer from a loss, and he certainly wouldn’t want to see that, especially with Phyllis’ presence. It was an intriguing thing really, for he had just known the girl for a relatively short period of time, yet he was longing to impress her. It had nothing to do with those etiquettes of a gentleman, as they were in a dare and equal - so, this was different. Much different from what he had experienced before. Twirling his wand carelessly, he brought his torso low and threw himself into the middle of the field.

Seeing that still no one was interested in him, Maxi relaxed a bit and raised his wand up. Time to go a bit offensive - he wouldn’t want to end up with zero point, by all means. The bluebell flames spell was not unfamiliar to him, and Maxi was ready to demonstrate his skill of splitting a spell into two this time. And there he was, holding his broom handle single-handed and forcing himself to focus amidst the chaos. Two students [Mandy and Della] fell into his vision, and no sooner had he decided that they would be his targets, merely for the simple reason that they were the nearest.

A mutter of the incantation and his spell went off, jumping towards the dark-haired student [Mandy]. Maxi watched it getting nearer the young Hogwartian, when the flames suddenly split into two - and while one of them continued to stick to its course, the other veered towards the girl with silvery hair [Della]. Surprised to find a third spell speeding toward the silver-haired girl - for a moment he thought he was now capable of splitting a spell into three - he turned his broom and Phyllis’ image fell into his gaze. A grin immediately appeared on Maxi’s face. “Nice one.” He put a thumb up. Hearing her comment of showing off, the grin went even wider - how penetrating. He had to admit that there was indeed a part of him wanting to show off slightly - he’s the only person with two points now, after all.

With a cheery “Later!” Phyllis disappeared again, leaving Maxi alone in the wind. “I’m sorry, though you two played well, Mademoiselles.Miss he told the two girls with his usual polite smile if they were still there to listen. If they were sensitive enough, they might be able to identify his French accent and figure out his identity as a French foreigner of Beauxbatons. “Perhaps I’ll see you around during my stay here?” again saluting the two, Maxi turned his broom and moved away before anybody else was quick enough to interfere and burn his own flag.

Ami breathed a sigh of relief as both her and Arjan seemed to reach a truce (for the time being). She had known that standing right next to him could've turned very badly, but she was glad that he trusted her as much as she trusted him... which was about as far as they could throw one another. Which, all things considered, was no small distance on either of their parts.

Anyway, moving on.

Ami locked her eyes on her target of choice, the newly-inducted Gryffindor Quidditch co-captain. Maybe she could knock him down a peg or two, show him who was the top Quidditch dawg at this game of tag. Because it certainly wasn't him, not when there were two bigger and stronger players here as well. But as she surged toward the nimble Gryffindor, he would deftly (albeit, barely) slip away from the flames of her torch. A frustrated sound that was something akin to that of a lion attempting to kill a mosquito escaped from her mouth as she halted on her broom, clenching her jaw in frustration. If she had just been on her own broom... no matter. She would just have to burn someone else's flag!

Out of the corner of her eye, however, she saw Arjan's flag get burned by some kid she didn't know in the slightest. Arjan was out already? Her clenched jaw turned into a full-on scowl as her brows furrowed. How... boring. She'd have to get that punk at some point and take revenge for Arjan.

For now, she scanned the pitch of students to pick out a suitable victim. There was no way that she would let victory slip away from her now.

Miss Wynn flashed him a smile in response, and he managed a tight grin in response, which ended up being more of a slight upward twitch of his left cheek. Somewhere nearby, he heard a student scoff (@Starlee Kennedy as Florian Yves LeRoy). His dark eyes flickered at the boy in a khaki suit, and he shot the French boy a stare to show him that he heard. For a boy with a soft, boyish face and charming blue eyes, he sure seemed like a self-assured prick. Then, Akira took the broom and swore under his breath, readying himself for the inevitable now that his denial of having to fly was finally quashed.

He gritted his teeth and lifted off, choosing to hover in the outer range to carefully observe the scene as other students swirled around, hawk eyes searching for prey. The cool evening air swept through his hair and his flag billowed behind him, fluttering and vulnerable. He took a deep, quavering breath, then gripped his handle tighter, centering himself. Mizu no kokoro. A still mind, like water. Slowly, with controlled breathing, his breath stilled and his muscles relaxed, dark brown eyes taking in the scene in front of him with an objective gaze.

This was a game, after all. He just had to focus on the task at hand, nothing more. Flying was never his forte -- he did not feel like one with the skies as the quidditch players did, but he was an athlete nonetheless, and he had to trust his instincts.

So, it was with a calmer mind that he dove towards a student's flag, torch extended, but missing at the last second. While he might've been angry with himself had it been a missed spell while dueling, he let this one slide, resigning to feel some sense of accomplishment for staying within the game at all.

Someone flew at Hiro (@Kim Sato), and Akira was about to call out to warn the quidditch player, but it was too late. The pink-haired boy's flag was scorched, and he was out. What a pity. He flashed the boy a sad smile. Akira would've liked to see Hiro display his prowess on the broom before he was out, but alas, it was not meant to be.

He searched the skies for his next target, and dove.

Once Mandy got by their side, Trix took a deep breath, their flags safely in between them. Smiling they nodded at Mandy, and they went to grab Dan Palmer's wand. But before they could start their onslaught, they were accosted by Akita, who was trying to burn their flag. They quickly moved out of the way, getting separated from Mandy. Trix gasped as the torch came very close to their flag. But, lucky them, they dodged just in time.

Afterward, they went after Dan, which they knew was a dumb idea, but if they could disarm them without getting caught, that would eliminate him as a problem for at least a minute or two. Sneaking up behind him, Trix jabbed at his elbow, loosening the boy's grip. They saw his wand fall from his grasp and pumped their hand. "Yes!" But before they could celebrate, Emma yelled at them. They got caught?! "Ugggh! Fine."

Looking around for Mandy, they caught sight of her just as her flag got burned. They immediately deflated and muttered a curse word under their breath.

While they were preoccupied, someone slipped up behind them. They only heard them at the last second, drifting on their school broom just in time for Arjan to miss. They took a deep breath. Two close calls and no points AND they had to sit out. Bummer. They quickly descended the rest of the way to not be a target, and took a seat on the bench, hoping Mandy would come to sit with them.

Florian couldn't help but notice the boy (Akira Shimizu) he had scoffed at staring back at him, clearly upset at Florian's reaction. Did it matter to him? No, certainly not. Florian would continue to hold his haughty attitude and stature. He was still trying to hide his anger about the tournament. Riding on a broom was something he did best, so he would have to show the boy that that was the case.

Florian had surveyed the game participants and landed upon a target he deemed worthy of his attention, that of a rather fit boy from Durmstrang (Arjan Oberoi). He seemed rather strong, Florian couldn't help but notice him, clearly older than many of the students gathered, so he seemed likely to be a threat. "Parfait..." Perfect... he mumbled, as he took aim at the boys flag, swiftly casting the bluebell flames spell to set his flag alight. When it caught, he fist bumped into the air. Clearly all his prior broom racing training was paying off, surely he could win this thing no problem.

Florian hadn't been attacked this round, apparently no one else had deemed him to be a threat. Well after scoring a point and loosing so many people already he was certain that there would be more people coming for him. But again, this is what he had trained for, what he lived for, he wasn't backing down now.

Dan had been disarmed. DISARMED. Are you kidding??
On top of that, it seemed like two people tried to double team him too. Who the hell would...
Why though?
His attacker missed, naturally. Dirty tactics like that rarely worked on him. But so far, he was without points, and had to look for his wand.
To his delight however, his disarmer got caught cheating, so all they could do was take a time out like a naughty child. And the teammate who missed her attack on him had her flag burned. Bloody served her right.

There was no rule against teamsies, but that hardly fit the spirit of a battle Royale.
No, not like fortnite, gods. The ACTUAL meaning of a battle Royale, not a shitty first person shooter that completely changed the meaning of the phrase into something insufferable.

Dan narrowed his eyes at his would he attackers, and began to search for his wand. With his trained Seeker eyes, it would not be hard to do. Dan was used to looking for the smallest glint of gold in an entire quidditch stadium, a wand would not be even slightly difficult to find.

As it was though, his performance so far was unacceptable. It was this long and he had yet to garner a single point. He grumbled a bit as he again went over how they would NEVER have hit him on his Silver Arrow.

Just over half of the participants are out! To make things easier for targeting purposes, I’m going to put slashes through the participants list in addition to the eliminated list. This does not mean you cannot participate in the thread still as a spectator but it just makes it easier for those who remain to see who they have left to target (if they choose to target a specific person).

Just a few notes! All rolls were done shortly after I received the person’s action. If a person chose random for their target, I used tatsu to roll a d14 to choose the target(s). I’ve left everyone in the order my first post contained that listed the participants, and just numbered everyone accordingly. The casting of the Bluebell Flames for second years+ requires a WDC of 13+. I have not necessarily kept the actions in the order in which I received them.
Emma was impressed at how everyone was acting. Other than the one cheat by Trix, no one else had chosen to do so, or at least she hadn’t caught them. And the few people she had seen after burning a flag did not seem to be sore winners, which was always appreciated. That was the last thing they needed to happen, someone to be angry that they were out and wreck chaos. Emma chuckled, imagining what that could look like. But then she quickly removed the thought from her head, knowing that she could have just jinxed it.

Shoving the small pencil and spare piece of parchment with the points and eliminated players, all with descriptions, in her pocket, she moved her hands back to properly hold her broom, and started to wonder around. She put on random spurts of speed, enjoying the night air on her face. Catching sight of a moving wandPhylicia Stanwood, Emma paused in her actions, watching what happened. She quickly realized that the target Dan Palmer had been the one that Trix had disarmed last time, and she wondered what he would do to avoid the spell.
Phylicia v. Dan

WIS (1d20:1) + 8 = 9, but it doesn’t matter as the spell has critically missed. A target was chosen at random, and Phylicia’s Accuracy stat will not be added to the d20 roll because of the critical miss.

Random target(D14: 7 (Ari Gwild))

Phylicia’s Acc ((1d20:15) + 0 = 15) v. Ari’s Eva ((1d20:10) + 8 = 18))

Ari evades the spell.
Emma gasped in shock as the spell seemed to have a mind of its own, going towards a different student Ari Gwild. She watched to see if the spell would hit the unintended target but it missed them. Emma was shocked, she had not expected that at all.

Emma stayed still for several moments, still not believing what had just happened, before movement out of the corner of her eye caused her to turn. Watching as a student (Florian LeRoy) approached another (Akira Shimizu). Then a third student came close to the pair, and Emma realized it was the student (Maximilien de Fostoncy) who had managed to get two targets out last time.
Florian v. Akira

WIS (1d20:7) + 9 = 16

The spell succeeds

Florian’s Acc ((1d20:12) + 9 = 21) v. Akira’s Eva ((1d20:10) + 8 = 18))

Florian succeeds at burning Akira’s flag. Akira is out and Florian receives a point.
Akira v. Florian

Akira’s Acc ((1d20:16) + 8 = 24) v. Florian’s Eva ((1d20:5) + 9 = 14))

Akira succeeds at burning Florian’s flag. Florian is out and Akira receives a point.
At the same time as the first student (Florian LeRoy) burned the second student’s (Akira Shimizu) flag, the second student turned around and managed to catch the first student’s flag with their torch. The third student (Maximilien de Fostoncy) had also managed to burn the first student’s flag (Florian LeRoy) at the same time See below for rolls. There was just so much going on!

And the action just kept going on! Emma hadn’t realized that the student’s(Maximilien de Fostoncy) spell had split again. So while it had burned one student’s flag(Florian LeRoy), the second student(Dan Palmer) who the spell had been targeted at had managed to evade.
Maximilien v. Florian and Dan

WIS (1d20:20) + 11 + 2 + 2 (Lovely Creature, Spell Spread) = 35

The spell succeeds

Maximilien’s Acc ((1d20:16) + 11 – 2 (Spell Spread) = 25) v. Florian’s Eva ((1d20:12) + 9 = 21))

Maximilien’s Acc (1d20:6) + 11 – 2(Spell Spread) = 15 v. Dan’s Eva (1d20:10) + 10 + 6.25 (Search for Wand Dodge Bonus) = 26.25

Dan has lost his wand, and is currently searching for it so he gets the bonus (5+10 X 0.25/2 = 6.25)

Maximilien burns Florian’s flag. Florian is out. Dan evades Maximilien’s spell. Maximilien receives 1 point.
Emma couldn’t believe it. One of the studentsDan Palmer seemed to have excellent luck as he managed to not only have a spell misfire and thus target someone unexpected, but also evade someone who had managed to get two players out last round. It was amazing! Emma was really quite enjoying the game, there was so much going on, but it was so interesting to see what’s going on. Realizing she should say something, she pointed at the two students in this whole mess who had been eliminated (Florian LeRoy and Akira Shimizu) and said, “Thank you for playing! I hope you’ve enjoyed!”

Looking away for a few moments, she faced forward again, seeing that a player (Ami Procoppio) was approaching the student(Maximilien de Fostoncy) who could target several people at once. She was curious to see if the first student would be able to burn their target’s flag. It seemed like the target was a proficient spell caster and she wasn’t sure the person with the torch could catch them.
Ami v. Maximilien

Ami’s Acc ((1d20:13) + 14 + 3 (Muggle Condition) = 30) v. Maximilien’s Eva ((1d20:10) + 8 = 18))

Ami burns Maximilien’s flag, and receives a point.
Emma was pleasantly surprised. She honestly had not thought the attacker would be able to take their target out of the game, but they had. Now it looked like if someone could stay in for a couple of rounds and burn some flags, then they would be able to catch up to the highest point earner who had just been eliminated Maximilien de Fostoncy. "You're out! Thank you for playing."

Taking a moment to take a breath, she pulled out the parchment and pencil, quickly scratching in the newly eliminated players and updating the point counts. Looking around, she flew down towards where Trix was and said “Alright, you’re back in, but no more cheating.” Emma grinned at Trix, before heading back into the sky.

Dodge - the player dodges all incoming attacks. The rolls are an evasion roll, the player's evasion+5+25% of player's evasion (the dodge bonus is the same as the dueling bonus).

Cast Bluebell Flames - a 2nd year+ student casts the bluebell flames at another's players flag with their wand. The rolls are a wisdom roll, acc roll vs. evasion roll

Burn a player's flag - a first year tries to burn another player's flag off with the prelit torch. The rolls are an acc vs evasion roll

Disarm a player - a player tries to disarm a player of their torch/wand. There are a wisdom, acc, vs. evasion roll. If the player does not have expelliarmus in their trunk, they can instead attempt to disarm the player with non-magical means, which will be an acc vs. evasion roll. If one does attempt to disarm a player with non-magical means, there is a chance that you will be forced to sit out one round as punishment if caught. To determine if the player was caught cheating, a d10 dice will be rolled and if the dice rolls 1 to 5, then the player has not been caught and will not receive a punishment. If the dice rolls 6 to 10, the player was caught and will have to sit out one round for cheating.

Search for Wand/Torch - If a player is disarmed of their wand/torch, they must then search for wand/torch as their action in the next round. They will receive a bonus to their evasion roll while doing so equivalent to half of the dodge bonus (5+25% of the players evasion stats/2).
