Florian watched as other game participants arrived, wondering if he would see anyone he knew. Well, clearly he wouldn't be seeing his date here, seeing as she hadn't signed up for any of the activities. He was actually glad she hadn't though, he was ready to let his pure unfettered anger and sadness about the results of the Hexwizard Tournament champions onto the rest of those around him. And, luckily, there was only one other student from Beaxubaton, everyone else was fair game... fresh meat.
Florian cocked his head to the side as one boy asked if they could levitate themselves. Florian couldn't help but scoff, wondering how on earth someone could have thought that is what the game was about. Sure it wasn't like this was a common game, but honestly, anything with the word 'flying' clearly meant on a broom, at least in the young French boy's mind.
It seemed there were a few latecomers to the games, and Wynn had decided to give them extra time to join. When no one appeared, Wynn decided to continue, giving them a quick reminder of the rules. Burning someone's flag sure sounded like quite a lot of fun to Florian.
Taking the school broom excitedly, he mounted it and kicked off into the sky, his wand in hand. Wynn began to count them down, and Florian began his flight around the open field. The time to decide what to do was now.

As Maximilien "Maxi" de Fostoncy [x]
English · #586d9d | French · #056b68interacts Phyllis Stanwood (@Bridget Collins)He had to admit that Phyllis was right, for bluebell flames were indeed harmless. “Yeah, you do have a point.” he agreed, somewhat reluctantly. It wasn’t that Maxi was expecting Incendios to be used in the game - just, he had not yet adapted the fact that Hogwarts was starting to take security measures. And…this meant Phyllis was correct. Hogwarts didn’t seem that dangerous after all, perhaps. Maxi grumbled to himself silently about this change, though suddenly he remembered the firewalking event - it had something to do with coals, huh? And coals…they were sure difficult to deal with. That was really a Hogwarts-standard game, he thought, and what a pity he couldn’t point it out to Phyllis himself at close range.
Though he did not regret his choice, especially seeing that Phyllis was quite into it. After all, he himself was on the celebrated Beauxbatons broom racing team - well, even just for a term - and flying was deeply loved. Speaking of broom racing, it was known as dangerous, and perhaps much more dangerous than roaming ghosts, randomly directed Knockback Jinxes, or fallen tents (those were what he suffered from during the past Hogwarts balls he had attended). It was easy to see that Maxi was, by no means, a coward. He was just…wary of the Hogwarts balls, and perhaps a bit jealous of it being so celebrated even though scary things happened every time. Take Beauxbatons as an example. It was, no doubt, capable of holding such grand events, and Hogwarts should never be the only one praised every year for its annual balls. That’s obviously unfair, thought Maxi - and scanning over his opponents tonight, he decided that he’d show them - no matter Hogwartian or some other foreigners - some true skills.
He kicked off, and was soon high up in the air. Twirling his wand in a careless manner and controlling his broom single-handed, Maxi’s dark grey eyes scanned his opponents. Most of them seemed excited enough about the game, and a few’s impatience was all written right on their faces. Shaking his head slightly to himself, Maxi turned his broom and let go of both his hands. Riding on the broom without holding the handle, he gave a small wave using his spare left hand towards Phyllis’ direction. No, he really wasn’t showing off his broom skills to her. Just a salutation, he assured himself - probably, though deep in his heart he really wasn’t sure. Realising that he was actually playing with fire, he offered Phyllis a smile and quickly held his broom tight again - being shoved down by the wind or some other force and fell down to the cold hard ground wasn’t the most favourable thing in the world. And of course, he didn’t want to be out even before the game had started.────── ✢ ──────

Ari hovered in the air on his broom a little higher. He felt at peace here above the grass. A broom was one of the few places where he felt free, secure. Sure, he usually flew at alarming speeds on a broom through obstacle courses and sustained a few injuries in the process, but it was too much fun to deny the good feelings it gave him.
The fingers of his unoccupied hand brushed over his arm, over the scars from the first broom race of the season. Bundimun acid. He'd never forget the pain as it tore through his hoodie and burned into his skin. But he had healed now, and that wasn't stopping him from doing what he loved.
Now he was playing with fire.
He kicked off into the air at the signal for the game to begin. The rush of the wind tore through his bangs, burning his eyes, but it was that feeling that made him feel so free. He was going to make sure he enjoyed this game.
Surveying the area, he kept still for a moment, occasionally turning his head back in case someone came up from behind to take his flag. He'd keep those bold blue eyes of his as attentive as he could.

"Of course," Arjan replied to his date as he glanced over his shoulder towards her, with a nod. It was a little odd for him not to be full of more words but he was a little speechless for the moment. Rather odd, indeed. Anyone who knew him would probably have expected him to say something flirty towards his beautiful date or insulting towards the other participants. Instead, he chose to say almost nothing and just agreed with her.
Without further ado, he took to the skies and raised his torch (or wand, if he was not allowed to take one), eyeing up his target. He wasted no time in selecting someone. In truth, his selection process was simple. There was no strategy or thought behind it. He simply wanted to get rid of everyone and everything around, as he silently fumed on the matter to himself. It was a good way to get rid of his anger - by taking it out on the innocent participants of the game. The only one who was free from his wrath - for the moment, at least - was his date. She got bonus points for, well, just being his date. Everyone else, he planned to take out. So, he went after the first person he saw that was not Ami. It really was that simple.
ACTION: Burn a player's flag (if he's allowed to use a torch. Otherwise cast bluebell flames) - Target: Random, except for Ami.

Being in the air so close to Mandy made Trix's heart thump. The thrill of flying and seeing Mandy in the torchlight was breathtaking. But they had to keep their wits about them. They could tell Mandy was anxious, so they flew closer to them. "Not to worry! Look! They don't burn!" They touched the flames, briefly letting go of their broom to do so. They wobbled a little and quickly reached onto their broom, their hair flashing a scarlet red as they caught their balance. "Now like we planned! Stay close!" They felt a little silly,
Trix admired how brave her friend Emma was. They didn't think they could run an event, and here she was being a great organizer. They smiled at her before taking off, looking for a person to go after. They spotted a few people. There was, of course, Pax. They had just met them, would it be okay to go after Mandy's friend like that? No, they didn't think so. A few people looked like them and Mandy could take them on and win, perhaps if they catch the Slytherin boy off guard. Looking around they decided on a plan and telegraphed it to Mandy, touching her arm as they began to move.

It wasn't very long before the awaited countdown came. Phyllis mounted her broom, thanking her past self for choosing to wear biker shorts underneath her dress. A dress was still not the best of attire for broom flying, but she was glad that choice for comfort was coming in so handy. She was pretty sure she'd flown in dresses--not ballgowns, though--as a little girl sometimes, so this wouldn't be a first. With a hard kick, she left solid ground behind, loose hair flying in her face and the world opening up in a whole new dimension.
Her wand had been pressed tightly against her broom handle, both hands wrapping around the shaft of each, but now the fingers of her right hand curled around the length of wood and brought it out to her side. It felt a bit awkward, considering she didn't typically fly with her wand on her, but at least she wasn't trying to get used to flying without two hands. Looking up to Maxi, apparently he was doing no hands. She grinned, securing the broom tightly between her legs before doing the same to wave back.
With minor showing-off done, the countdown was being called, and she figured she should probably ride with one hand, especially since she was going to need the mental focus to figure out this casting mid-flight thing. Doing a lazy circle around the loosely-defined playing area and sparing two fingers of her wand hand to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear--she really should have brought a ponytail--she surveyed the competition. Alright, here we go.

Mandy wiped sweat away from her forehead and sighed a bit. "True, you're right. It's not going to hurt me, it's just...y'know, fire." Mandy scratched nervously at her arms, calming down a bit. Well, at least she wasn't going to be burned. Why did she even think that in the first place?
Mandy gasped a little when Trix wobbled on their broom, but breathed a sigh of relief when they steadied themselves.[ color=#826dba] "Okay, I will. Be careful, okay? And good luck."[/color]
When Trix began flying, Mandy followed them, helping search for a potential target. Unfortunately, a lot of them didn't look very weak, so Mandy was stuck with not a lot of options.
She could go bold and choose someone who was strong, but that would be really stupid. Mandy glanced over at Trix for help.
Luckily, it seemed like Trix had already chosen someone to attack, and Mandy neared Trix to listen to their idea- which she couldn't help but smile at.
"Oooh! Time to burn some flags!" Mandy said giddily before heading for the target with Trix.

Emma, a first-year Hufflepuff, shakily explained the rules. They could really only use the Bluebell flames spell or the disarming spell with their wands, two spells that Della didn't know. That put her at an immediate disadvantage. This was going to be tough. She hoped her flying skills would be enough to keep her out of everyone's aim. But she didn't know a lot of her competitors' skills either. She would be flying in the dark, literally and figuratively.
Della got on her broom, eyeing her opponents. Would it be better to take an offensive stance? She could try and get someone out early, but that might put a bigger target on her back early on. Or she could concentrate on evading everyone, and try to get an idea of who was the strongest first. A problem with that approach: This game was probably going to move fast. Everyone would be throwing fire and torches this way and that. Della imagined it would be hard to get a second to think before flags went up in flames.
Whatever her strategy was going to be, she knew that she would have to stay flexible, stay alert, and take any opening she had.

Notes
ReducioJust a few notes! All rolls were done shortly after I received the person’s action. If a person chose random for their target, I used tatsu to roll a d14 to choose the target(s). I’ve left everyone in the order my first post contained that listed the participants, and just numbered everyone accordingly. The casting of the Bluebell Flames for second years+ requires a WDC of 13+. I have not necessarily kept the actions in the order in which I received them.
Emma had caught the words of the student who had been asking the question about flying but had just thrown them a smile, glad that they hadn’t pushed back but eager to get started.
Now that the game had begun, Emma found that there was too much going on to be worried. She was trying to stay on the edges, only occasionally weaving among the players and only when she had a hard time seeing what was going on in a particular area. She was happy that only a few moments in, everyone seemed to be playing by the rules.
Catching sight of a blue flame getting suspiciously close to a flag, Emma moved closer to that specific pair while staying far enough away that she wouldn’t accidentally run into either of them if they suddenly decided to make a swift turn. Sure enough, the flame of one student Hiro Bakugo was almost reaching the flag of another Phylicia Stanwood. Focusing entirely on the pair, Emma did her best not to blink.
To Emma’s surprise, the second student was able to evade the first’s torch. Deciding she had focused too much on the pair for too long, Emma turned her back resolutely on them, scanning the field. Seeing her friend, Trix DeLuca, Emma headed in their direction. Looking around for a moment to ensure there was no one about to run into her, Emma turned back and had to bite her lip as someone Akira Shimizu was getting awfully close to Trix. Coming to a stop, she watched them anxiously.Hiro v. Phylicia
Hiro’s Acc ((1d20:11) + 9 = 20) v. Phylicia’s Eva ((1d20:14) + 9 = 23)
Phylicia is able to evade Hiro’s torch.
Akira v. Trix
Akira’s Acc ((1d20:3) + 8 = 11) v. Trix’s Eva ((1d20:14) + 6 = 20)
Trix evades Akira’s torch.
Emma breathed a sigh of relief that her friend had evaded the torch headed for their flag. Weaving in and out of the action, she craned her neck, trying to decide where she would be able to see the action best. Stopping suddenly, she almost missed a student @Pax Zhang who was almost touching the flag of anotherHiro Bakugo, one of the students Emma had noticed earlier. Gasping, she watched with fascination as the action unfolded.
Emma was excited to see the first flag be burned. She said quickly, “You’re out! But you can still watch from the ground if you’d like.” Pointing at the student who lost their flag for a moment, she watched to see if they would leave. Once she was certain she could move on, Emma did a round of the game, searching for action.Pax v. Hiro
Pax’s Acc ((1d20:9) + 7 + 3(Muggle Condition) = 19) v. Hiro’s Eva ((1d20:3) + 5 =)
Pax burns Hiro’s flag. Hiro is out. Pax receives a point.
Emma’s eyes widened as she realized that there had been another pair Dan Palmer & Phylicia Stanwood that looked to be very close to deciding who would succeed. Spinning around quickly, Emma shrieked, grabbing tight to her broom to prevent herself from falling. She had closed her eyes instinctively, but quickly opened them when she realized she was safe. Scanning the skies, she found the pair she was looking for, and shot her broom toward the action, making sure to stop far enough away that the pair had room to maneuver. This time the student Dan Palmer was using his wand to cast the bluebell flames at his target Phylicia Stanwood
Sure that the action had been finished, Emma moved away. Spotting Trix, Emma grinned at them but realized they were moving towards another student Dan Palmer, one who had just been engaged in battle a moment ago. Emma was a little confused as Trix didn’t seem to be extending their torch. Widening her eyes, Emma was surprised to see they were attempting to disarm Dan without their wand.Dan v. Phylicia
Dan’s WDC ((1d20:10) + 15 + 2 (Lovely Creature)) = 27
The spell exceeds the WDC so it succeeds.
Dan’s Acc ((1d20:10) + 10 = 20) v. Phylicia’s Eva ((1d20:16) + 8 = 24)
Phylicia evades the spell.
Emma gasped when they managed to disarm Dan. Shaking herself, she realized she needed to punish her friend. Groaning, as she really didn’t want to, Emma yelled but not in an angry way, in a kind of exasperated way. “Trix, I saw that! Really? You’ve got to sit out a round.” Emma pointed to the ground, not feeling the need to watch them go.Trix v. Dan – Wandless disarm
Trix’s Acc ((1d20:18) + 4 = 22) v. Dan’s Eva ((1d20:10) + 10 = 20))
Trix’s manual disarm lands, Dan will have to search for his wand/torch next round.
To determine if Trix’s actions were caught:
D10: 6
Higher than 5 so Trix has been caught and must sit out a round.
Ready to move on, Emma was about to turn her broom to see what was going on at the other side, but realized someone was approaching the studentDan Palmer that Trix had disarmed. And that someone was Mandy Corbin. Sighing, she shook her head realizing that Trix had likely disarmed the student for just this reason, but she just stood still.
And the poor student Dan Palmer who had been ganged up on managed to evade Mandy’s torch, so Trix’s sacrifice was for naught. Emma debated saying something to Mandy but realized that would give it away and she didn’t want to paint a further target on both their backs so she remained silent, just turning away from the group. Which was a good thing as she almost missed some of the action!Mandy v. Dan
Mandy’s Acc ((1d20:3) + 7 = 10) v. Dan’s Eva ((1d20:5) + 10 = 15))
Dan evades the torch.
Emma felt a little disappointed that the flag had not burned, but then she was dismayed that she was wishing for a flag to be burnt. Maybe she was getting a little too into the game, or a little bloodthirsty, she wasn’t sure which. Flying around, she did her best to look for some likely action, but then almost missed what was going on just ahead of her as her head scanned left and right.Della v. Tarja
Della’s Acc ((1d20:5) + 5 = 10) v. Tarja’s Eva ((1d20:10) + 7 = 17))
Tarja evades Della’s torch.
Moving into the center, she found what she was looking for as a student Maximilien de Fostoncy seemed to be gaining on Mandy Corbin. This time, she didn’t have to struggle with biting her lip to keep silent, but she did grip her broom tighter, depending on that to keep her from waving or pointing as a warning to Mandy. She had just met them, but they were friendly (or maybe even a crush?) of Trix, so she didn’t want her to be out. Another student Della Barfield moved close to the pair, and Emma’s eyes widened not sure what to make of it. She was even more shocked when a fourth student Phylicia Stanwood snuck up on all three players.
Maximilien v. Mandy and Della (Spell Spread Ability used by Maximilien)
Maximilien’s WDC ((1d20:17) + 11 + 2 (Lovely Creature) + 2 (Spell Spread)) = 32
The spell is greater than the WDC so it succeeds.
Maximilien’s Acc ((1d20:16) + 11 – 2 (Spell Spread) = 25) v. Mandy’s Eva ((1d20:13) + 6 = 19)
Maximilien burns Mandy’s Flag. Mandy is out. Maximilien receives a point.
Maximilien’s Acc ((1d20:11) + 11 – 2 (Spell Spread) = 20) v. Della’s Eva ((1d20:5) + 7 = 12)
Maximilien burns Della’s flag. Della is out. Maximilien receives a second point.Emma was shocked that the first student Maximilien managed to burn two flags in such a short period of time. Speaking loudly, she pointed at the two students, one at a time. “I’m sorry but you’re both out. You can watch from the ground though.” She was also shocked that the fourth student Phylicia Stanwood had managed to sneak in among the group. The two attackers Maximilien and Phylicia had managed to burn the flag of the third student Della Barfield simultaneously, so Emma mentally awarded both a point.Phylicia v. Della
Phylicia’s WDC ((1d20:19) += 27
The spell is greater than the WDC so it succeeds.
Phylicia’s Acc ((1d20:20) + 15 = 35) v. Della’s Eva ((1d20:12) + 7 = 19)
Della’s flag is doubly burned, so definitely a crisp. Della is out. Phylicia receives a point.
Turning to the left, Emma saw someone Arjan Oberoi approaching another student Trix DeLuca. Emma squinted, trying to determine who either person was, and her eyes widened, seeing it was her friend Trix. She had thought they had been descending but it was fine for the moment. It meant there would be another target in the air. Once she had a chance to breath, she would make sure that Trix sat out for one round. She flew quickly closer, approaching from behind so neither could tell what was going on. Doing her best to stay as unobtrusive as possible, she kept silent but sent her thoughts to the universe hoping her friend was able to evade.
Emma breathed a sigh of relief when Trix managed to evade the torch of the student, and then instead of shouting out loud and showing her potential favoritism, Emma moved along, flying calmly around. The more she flew, the more comfortable she felt.Arjan v. Trix
Arjan’s Acc ((1d20:9) + 10 = 19) v. Trix’s Eva ((1d20:15) + 6 = 21))
Trix evades Arjan’s torch.
Turning her broom slightly, she waited a few moments, a bit tired. Catching sight of movement out of the corner of her eye, she saw a student Florian LeRoy with their wand out, and looking like they were in the middle of casting a spell. Watching carefully to make sure there were no shenanigans going on, Emma saw blue flames erupt from their wand directed at someone she didn’t recognize and who she assumed was one of the students from another school Arjan Oberoi.
Figuring she didn’t need to point this time, she just said “Excuse me, but you’re out. If you’d like to watch the rest of the game, you can cheer on the ground. Thank you! I hope you enjoyed.”Florian v. Arjan
Florian’s WDC ((1d20:4) + 9) = 13
The spell is equal to the WDC so it succeeds.
Florian’s Acc ((1d20:18) + 9 = 27) v. Arjan’s Eva ((1d20:5) + 8 = 13)
Florian burns Arjan’s Flag. Arjan is out. Florian receives a point.
Moving slowly forward, Emma found there were several things going on at once. She did a mental eenie meenie minie mo to decide which of the pairs to get closest to. In the end, it was one where a student Ami Procoppio was after another studentPax Zhang with their torch. Emma recognized one of the students Pax Zhang from earlier who had burned a flag from their opponent Hiro Bakugo. Drifting slowly towards the pair, she turned her head slightly to observe the action better.
Emma gasped at the extremely close call that had occurred with the two students. She could have sworn the move with the torch was going to succeed but at the last minute they had not.Ami v. Pax
Ami’s Acc ((1d20:3) + 14 + 3(Muggle Condition) = 20) v. Pax’s Eva ((1d20:14) + 6 = 20))
Ami and Pax’s rolls tied, and so it was a close call but Pax narrowly escapes.
Emma couldn’t believe all the talented students who were participating and managing to evade the flames coming for their flags. She herself could only imagine that she would be out in the first round if she was playing. Grinning happily, Emma took a spin around the flying students, trying to catch sight of anyone who was close to their targets.
Emma stayed where she was, taking a moment catch her breath after all of that action! There had been so much going on and she was glad she had kept a small piece of paper she had ripped from one of her notebooks and a pen on hand. She quickly wrote down the points and who had received them, and then the people who were eliminated on the other side, so she could keep things straight. Mind you, she was using descriptors as she only knew a few names but better than nothing. After she was sure she had everything written down, Emma looked for Trix, headed her way. “Alright, Trix, you’re out. Please head to the ground for a round.”Ari v. Pax
Ari’s Acc ((1d20:5) + 9 = 14) v. Pax’s Eva ((1d20:4) + 6 = 10))
Ari burns Pax’s flag. Pax is out.

Dodge - the player dodges all incoming attacks. The rolls are an evasion roll, the player's evasion+5+25% of player's evasion (the dodge bonus is the same as the dueling bonus).
Cast Bluebell Flames - a 2nd year+ student casts the bluebell flames at another's players flag with their wand. The rolls are a wisdom roll, acc roll vs. evasion roll
Burn a player's flag - a first year tries to burn another player's flag off with the prelit torch. The rolls are an acc vs evasion roll
Disarm a player - a player tries to disarm a player of their torch/wand. There are a wisdom, acc, vs. evasion roll. If the player does not have expelliarmus in their trunk, they can instead attempt to disarm the player with non-magical means, which will be an acc vs. evasion roll. If one does attempt to disarm a player with non-magical means, there is a chance that you will be forced to sit out one round as punishment if caught. To determine if the player was caught cheating, a d10 dice will be rolled and if the dice rolls 1 to 5, then the player has not been caught and will not receive a punishment. If the dice rolls 6 to 10, the player was caught and will have to sit out one round for cheating.
Search for Wand/Torch - If a player is disarmed of their wand/torch, they must then search for wand/torch as their action in the next round. They will receive a bonus to their evasion roll while doing so equivalent to half of the dodge bonus (5+25% of the players evasion stats/2).

Hiro grinned at Akira.
The fact that the two of them matched and hadn't even planned on doing so...
Well, wasn't that a sign from the universe? The only question was whether such a thought had occurred to Akira as well and Hiro looked over at him. But Akira only tried to divert his attention elsewhere. What did that mean? Hiro couldn't tell if his date was really that interested in paying attention to the rules, or if he was just trying to cover his initial reaction to them being an item. Or maybe it was a bit of both? Akira rose into the air, albeit slowly.
The pink haired boy felt torn between wanting to stick near him and to try and get a point. But Akira made the decision for him by telling him to go on without him. Hiro assumed he was going to try and go after someone himself and didn't want to appear weak to others. So, he nodded, and headed off to try and do the same. As for who to target, well he decided on a random person. The girl he'd chosen seemed to be good at evading though. Ah, tough luck.
Still, he hadn't thought his target would evade him that easily.
It was a shame.
He'd almost caught her unawares but the girl had turned at the last moment. Hiro flew off, not giving her the opportunity to try and launch a counter-attack on him.
Apparently, Akira had also tried to burn someone else's flag at the same time and his attack had failed too. Hiro circled around, trying to keep track of all the players, knowing he had to protect his own flag but wanting to go after some points too. Unfortunately, someone tried coming after his own flag around this time and although Hiro spotted them, it was hard to avoid them. Pax was really good at this and the two engaged in a little mini-battle for a time.
One that had to do with avoidance. Although Hiro was a good rider, on a Hogwarts school broom his equipment wasn't fast enough to escape his pursuer. And eventually the battle ended with Pax being able to burn his flag, making him the first player to get taken out. It was kind of distressing, especially as he'd promised Akira that he wouldn't let them down and would win for him. Hiro knew it was a game and that it shouldn't matter who got taken out.
After all, everyone would probably get taken out eventually.
But it still sucked to be the first one.
Plus he'd finally gotten Akira up into the sky and he hadn't been able to spend any time with him. Hiro pouted without realizing what he was doing and cast a glance over at Akira before he swept downward on his broom to alight on the ground again. He stared up at the boy, who was still high up in the air, and wondered if Akira would want him to watch him. Or if he'd prefer him to leave. Hiro debated on what he wanted to do. Maybe he'd stay and watch now.
After all, he wanted to support Akira. It was the 'couple' thing to do, he thought with a faint smirk. However, if he got the impression that Akira wanted him to leave, he'd probably do so. Akira was the only one that Hiro tended to sometimes consider requests from. Even he wasn't quite sure why that was. He watched while a bunch of players tried to go after flags and kept failing all the time. Maybe it just wasn't possible so early in the game. Well, except for him.
But at least he'd gotten some flying in.
Two more players got their flags burned soon afterward, thus proving him wrong.
Another player's flag was burned and then Pax's flag was burned, sending him out of the game too. By the time the round ended, five players had been eliminated, including him.
There were only 9 players left.
If Hiro had to guess who would win next round, he would settle on the boy with two points.
Hiro's stomach grumbled and he abruptly realized that he was starting to get really hungry. Maybe Akira wouldn't kill him if he just quickly went off to grab some snacks.
