Whether his date followed him or not, Arjan had made his way over to the flying torch tag with a huff. He had offered his arm to her and she may have taken it. But even if she did not, he would still make his way over in a huff. He was silently fuming, despite his best effects to look calm and presentable. His face had a blank expression.
How dare he not be named the Durmstrang champion? This whole thing was clearly rigged! He was, obviously, the most suitable. They just did not want Durmstrang to win. Or maybe this Yefim guy cheated. It was obviously something dodgy because if they were picking the most worthy, it was clearly Arjan. Who else was strong, brave, smart, handsome and skilled as he? No one. He was amazing and everyone knew that.
Flying through the skies and burning everyone else's flags will put his mind at ease. It would calm his anger to win this and show people how truly amazing he was. Putting away the pocket mirror he had taken out, he moved straight to the brooms and grabbed the best looking one. Admittedly, they were all the same. But this was Arjan and he acted solely based on looks. So he picked the one that looked the prettiest - which meant the least scuffed, the least worn and the cleanest. Within a few moments, he was ready to play this game with his broom and flag in hand.
If he was allowed to, he would also grab a torch rather than using his wand. The torch seemed more violent, it seemed more fitting. That and it just seemed like the obvious solution. Arjan was, surprisingly, not one to wave his wand around as much as people thought he would. The torches were just there and they seemed as though the item they were supposed to use. He did not bother to think more about that than necessary. He did not even consider taking out his wand, though perhaps that would have made more sense. If he was told he cannot use them (that they were for first years only) then he would glare, grumble and pull out his wand.
Mounting on the broom, he pushed up to take to the skies. The flag was quickly tied around his waist. If someone wanted it from him, they would have to take it from him! He was ready to start burning down everyone's broom - uh flags - and win this thing. He muttered to himself some words of encouragement, basically saying he could do this and he would easily win.

Trix walked hand in hand with Mandy into the grounds, feeling like they were walking on air. Mandy had asked to hold their hand, and Trix was elated. They could tell their hand was a little sweaty due to their nerves, but holding Mandy's hand was the most pleasant thing in the world for them. Smiling they looked around at everyone's clothes and noticed everyone's attire. "Oh no, Mandy! Your dress! Will you be okay flying in it?" They looked down at their attire, much more suitable for flying with pants instead of a skirt, and felt a little bad for Mandy.
They looked around and spotted the torches and brooms and got excited. "Look! There are the torches! Let's go see if the flames really don't hurt you!" Pulling Mandy along, they rushed to the torches and brooms. They grabbed a torch in one hand and then realized they needed their other hand. They didn't want to let go of Mandy's hand, so they stood there for a minute looking at their hands intertwined. Finally, they pulled their hand from Mandy's and blurted out their first thought with a bit too much volume. "I liked holding your hand!" Feeling the heat of embarrassment, their hair turned a cherry red. Pushing it out of their face they nervously shifted their feet. "You need help with your flag?"
They tied their flag to their arm, feeling like it would be easier to defend. They went to help Mandy tie on their flag and then they got serious. "Alright, we need a strategy. We should fly close together, with our flags on our innermost arms. That way we can defend the other, making it harder to burn our flags. How confident are you in flying?" They mounted their school broom and kicked off, hovering low to the ground. Spotting Emma they waved and smiled. They knew it was probably best not to distract their friend from doing her job, so they just waited for Mandy to get on her broom and join them in the air.

Mandy squeezed Trix's fingers as they walked onto the courtyard. They were regretting it already! Mandy was so scared she could puke. She almost missed Trix's question.
"Um, y-yeah, I'll be fine, no need to worry. I mean, I have to die fashionably, am I right?" Mandy said in a poor attempt to make a joke about BURNING TO DEATH. OH MY GOD. If she screwed up, she would be DEAD. And she wanted to crack a joke about it? No!
But on the flip side, it was nice holding Trix's hand. Usually if Mandy was holding the hand of someone that sweaty... well, she wouldn't. That was gross. But Trix? She didn't mind. It made her feel better.
Mandy's eyes widened at Trix's request as she was pulled with them. "How are we going to check? So I light myself on fire or- oh." she muttered as Trix grabbed a torch with her free hand. Mandy did the same, then glanced at their hands intertwined, waiting for them to pull back, because Mandy sure as heck did not want to.
Eventually, Trix was the one who pulled away, but then immediately said afterwards, "I liked holding your hand!"
They did? Oh gosh. Was Mandy having a heart attack? Her heart was racing like it wanted to be first in a marathon. But in a good way. If you can have a heart attack in a good way, this would be it. Ugh. Nevermind, Mandy thought. That was the worst analogy ever.
"Yea!!" Mandy said too eagerly when Trix asked if they needed help. Oh no-they sounded like a creep! "I mean...yes. In a normal tone."
Mandy smiled as Trix tied on Mandy's flag, but the feelings of worry came back again. If she burnt, who would take care of Mei? It was very irresponsible to burn to death straight after adopting a pet. And her poor mom! She'd be all alone! Her heart starting beating fast again, but for a different reason. It was like a heart att- oh, never mind. It felt awful, and she couldn't draw in enough air because she was going to burn!!
Before Mandy could spiral into full on panic-attack mode, Trix began explaining their plan. She listened closely before grinning at their last question.
"I can fly, alright. Some people call me- Bird Girl!" Mandy lied boasted, mounting her broom. "Well, I'm the only one who calls me that. But if you did that too, that would be very appreciated. Also, nice plan! You're so smart, Trix!!" she called out before kicking off into the air.

Flying Torch Tag
Flying Torch Tag. It certainly seemed very simple and self-explanatory, and Ami glanced around at the various torches and students with a wide grin on her face. Now this.... this was what she excelled at. She and her date separated as they arrived at the event, and they went to search for their brooms; while Arjan opted for the prettiest one he could find, Ami grasped the handle of one that seem sturdy and worn enough that it could be considered reliable. It certainly wasn't her own trusty broom, but she would be able to make do. Similar to Arjan, she would also reach for a torch. She was much better with her hands than with a wand (as evidenced by her preference for Quidditch as opposed to duelling), and she felt like the torch would simply give her more control than her wand. However, if the torches were to be reserved for the firsties, she would sigh and removed her wand from it position nestled in her hair.
"Arjan!" she called over to her date, who was quickly mounting his broom and tying his flag around his waist. She would take her own flag and use it to tie the skirt of her dress to one side of her hip, revealing the tight black biker shorts she had worn underneath her party dress. Mounting her broom with the practiced ease of someone who essentially ate, slept, and breathed Quidditch, she took to the skies and hovered by her date. "Let's get these punks," she crowed with a wicked gleam in her eye, surveying their competition with a disdainful smirk. "They're never gonna even know what hit 'em. Easy peasy, yeah?"
Interacting with Arjan Oberoi (@Serena Towers).

Della was relieved to find herself safely outside. She had successfully escaped the ball without the ceiling crashing down on her this time. Students were already assembling under the inky sky, getting their brooms ready. She scanned the group; she only recognized Ari, who was a member of the Ravenclaw broom racing team. She made a note to keep a special eye on the eagle, their impending broom race on her mind. Everyone else was a mystery. There was a good mix of foreign and Hogwarts students, so she had no idea what to expect once they got into the air.
Della picked up a school broom. Feel its rough texture between her hands made her miss her Silver Arrow. This broom felt a little off-balance, and before even sitting on it, she could tell that it wasn't nearly as fast as she was accustomed to—but fair was fair, they would all have to rely on skill only.
She tied her flag around her waist. It almost looked like a fashionable accessory for her spring romper—almost. She grabbed a torch and her wand, trying to get them ready as she stood over her broom. It would be difficult to hold both: the torch was more important, but Della doubted she wouldn't need her wand for a game like this. She held the torch in her nondominant left hand and placed her wand in the left romper pocket. She practiced reaching for it with her right hand. It seemed quick enough, so it would have to do.

Flying Torch Tag
Everyone had seemed to be fine with the rules she had explained, so Emma had jumped slightly when someone raised their hand, asking a question@Avery Chen as Akira Shimizu. Blinking at them for a moment, Emma cleared her throat and did her best to be forceful but probably came across a little squeaky. Her thought was that if she was at least a little forceful now there would be less problems later. “Ummmm….Yes, I’m sorry if that wasn’t clear and honestly I hadn’t thought about that interpretation so that’s quite clever, and maybe…… something to consider for another ball? But well, it wouldn’t be fair if others were managing brooms and torches or their wands, and there were only a few on the ground levitating the torches. So….yes, to participate, you need to use the school brooms. Ummmm…are you okay with that?” Emma cringed slightly at that whole ramble which honestly just was not what she had intended to do. But she hadn’t wanted to come across as too authoritarian and really, that wasn’t her. Oh, who was she kidding, she definitely was not authoritarian at all.
Having mounted her broom, and taken to the air, she watched as several of the others did the same. She had taken a quick count of names on the list and there should be 16, so it would be an even game, and the school brooms evened it out further. Emma could see that several of the people seemed to know each other and were conversing among themselves so she gave enough time for everyone to have their chance to speak before deciding a count was in order. She took a quick moment to wave in the direction of Trix and Mandy@Simon Corbin, having seen Trix @Trix DeLuca wave at her. Then mumbling under her breath, she did her best to keep from counting people more than once. Raising one hand shakily off the death grip she had on her broom, she moved her index finger from one individual to the other, mumbling under her breath. “one, two… three, four….. five, six, seven…..no no no, I’m sure I’ve already got them. So they would be seven, and eight. Thhhhhheeeyyy’rrreeee nine…..ten, eleven, did I get them? Well now they’re twelve……thirteen….fourteen.” Realizing that there were still two that were missing and had signed up for the Flying Torch Tag, she stayed awkwardly in the air where she was for a moment, trying to decide what she would do.
Deciding she needed to start, as there were still things planned for after the activities, Emma did her best to shout out loud, wishing she had a megaphone in hand. “Alright, it doesn’t look like everyone’s here yet so we’ll wait a few more moments. In the meantime, please make sure you have a broom, a flag and a torch if you need one. You can also use your wand if you know the bluebell flame spell and would prefer that over the torch. Make sure the flag is tied tightly and visibly!” Emma pointed at the group of objects below, and smiled as she could see that some had already tied the flag onto different parts of their body.
Taking a breath, Emma did a few figure eights, trying to decide if enough time had passed. Several minutes later or at least what felt like several minutes later as Emma didn’t have a watch, she took another deep breath and said loudly. “Alright! It looks like we’ll have to start without the rest! On the count of 3, we’ll start! Remember the more flags you burn the more points you get. If your flag gets burned, you’re out and please return to the ground. Most points win!” Coughing, she lifted a hand off the broom to cover her mouth. “Sorry! One…..two…….three….go!| Emma nudged her broom into motion, making sure she was staying on the edges of the game but also had a good view of what was going on to catch anyone who tried to stay beyond their flag burning, or tried to cheat their way into the win.
OOC Info:
1. You have one week to reply to this thread after a mod post. (Next Mod Post: Saturday, May 7th, 2022)
2. Each flag burned is a point. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins. If there is a tie, there will be a last man standing tie-breaker.
3. If your flag is burned, you are out.
4. Your flag must be tied to a visible part of your body and cannot be tucked into clothing. IE. Wrist, head, waist.
5. Please include your action with either the name of the person you wish to target or the word random in an OWL sent to My Account (Emma Wynn). When targeting a random person, I will use a number generator to pair people up. For the first post, you WILL NOT include any actions. Reminder, the deadline is May 7th, 2022.
6. DO NOT use actions other than the ones listed below.
7. Any cheating that is seen will result in your player being removed for one round.
8. Your first post should be arriving to the area, grabbing a torch or pulling out your wand and then mounting and taking to the sky. You should not put any actions in until the next round.

Dodge - the player dodges all incoming attacks. The rolls are an evasion roll, the player's
evasion+5+25% of player's evasion (the dodge bonus is the same as the dueling bonus).
Cast Bluebell Flames - a 2nd year+ student casts the bluebell flames at another's players flag with their wand. The rolls are a wisdom roll, acc roll vs. evasion roll
Burn a player's flag - a first year tries to burn another player's flag off with the prelit torch. The rolls are an acc vs evasion roll
Disarm a player - a player tries to disarm a player of their torch/wand. There are a wisdom, acc, vs. evasion roll. If the player does not have expelliarmus in their trunk, they can instead attempt to disarm the player with non-magical means, which will be an acc vs. evasion roll. If one does attempt to disarm a player with non-magical means, there is a chance that you will be forced to sit out one round as punishment if caught. To determine if the player was caught cheating, a d10 dice will be rolled and if the dice rolls 1 to 5, then the player has not been caught and will not receive a punishment. If the dice rolls 6 to 10, the player was caught and will have to sit out one round for cheating.
Search for Wand/Torch - If a player is disarmed of their wand/torch, they must then search for wand/torch as their action in the next round. They will receive a bonus to their evasion roll while doing so equivalent to half of the dodge bonus (5+25% of the players evasion stats/2).

Hiro flew up into the air and turned sharply around to face the others.
Where was he?
Akira wasn't on the Quidditch team like he was. He didn't seem to like brooms. Why he didn't was beyond him, as Hiro knew Akira had a Silver Arrow. How could he not like to fly when he had something like that? The girl in charge of the event looked like she was counting and Hiro was tempted to go over and try and help her do so. But he didn't know the number of participants, so he might not be able to help and had the potential to actually hinder her too.
Therefore, he remained where he was.
As expected, it seemed as if not everyone was present at the moment.
So the girl said they would wait for a few minutes. But after a time, she decided to start the game, reiterating the instructions again for them all to think about on their own.
Hiro ran through his plan in his mind and considered the options. Eventually, he decided on one of them and glanced around the area. How many people would decide to do what he was going to do? The pink haired boy looked for Akira again. Ah, there he was! Hiro sped forward on his broom towards him, being careful to avoid anyone who looked like they were going to try and attempt to burn his flag. And then finally, he was within hearing distance of his date.
A smile came to his lips.
It was nice being in the air with Akira, he didn't usually get to do this.

They matched. He was wondering if Bakugo-san noticed as well, but the other boy's cheery, cheeky grin and the way he immediately pointed it out only showed Akira that he had noticed that their outfits matched by coincidence. Akira pursed his lips and and glanced away, hoping to find something else oh-so-important that would demand his attention, so that he didn't have to think about whether he and Bakugo-san were destined for each other or not. "Quick, let's pay attention now, and listen to the instructions," he said hurriedly, hoping to divert Bakugo's attention as well, so that the boy would miss the fluster beneath his seeming dissatisfaction.
As he listened to Miss Wynn's instructions, Akira's alabaster skin would only grow paler. They really had to fly? It was one of his worst fears -- one that he thought wholly rational, because who knew what could happen 50 meters above ground if one just so happened to lose their balance? Sure, magical medicine could often fix a person within a matter of days, but that was still time well-wasted and unnecessary pain much-suffered. All in the name of fun? Absolutely preposterous.
His question, asked in the slightest, slimmest hope of being able to stay on the ground, served useless. Miss Wynn was judicious and cordial in her response, if a little nervous. "Oh, yes, I'm okay with that, not a problem at all," Akira responded hurriedly, more nervously than he intended, not sure whether he was the more nervous one or Miss Wynn. Certainly, it was him, since Akira Shimizu was being forced to fly. "Thank you for explaining, Miss Wynn. I'm all for fairness in a game, so I wouldn't want any exceptions made for me." As much as he wished it were the case.
As Miss Wynn counted the players and waited for any stragglers to arrive, Akira wordlessly accepted a broom and a torch from Hiro as if he were on auto-pilot, his eyes a bit dazed and his mind elsewhere -- mostly focused on his impending doom. Normally, he would've thanked the boy (polite as Akira was), but he unfortunately lacked the capacity to do so now.
Nervously, he gritted his teeth and mounted the broom with one hand, torch in the other, flag tied to his waist. They had to fly with just one hand? Well, shit.
Akira balanced precariously, clutching the broom for dear life, then looking up to see Hiro circling back easily on his broom to check on him. "Bakugo-san, feel free to go on without me," he would utter quietly, not intending to hold the quidditch player back. He would have to hang back a bit and gain some confidence before he could even attempt to light anyone else's flag.

Grinning as they waited for the game to start, Pax did a few small circles as they surveyed the other players of the game, wondering who to target.
Of course, there was Mandy, who they'd come to the ball with. There was also Trix, known best to them as Mandy' crush. And then, there was the new guy, Hiro Bakugo, who's they'd met just that evening. Did they really want to potentially ruin some friendships by targetting them? Not really. But were they very competitive? Hell yes.
However, they could still just target someone they didn't know. That was a viable option. But they didn't know them as well, and knowing their abilities was definitely a benefit in this game. Besides, some of the older students looked pretty intimidating, but that couldn't stop them.
A loud yell from Emma reminded Pax that they were midair, shaking them out of their strategizing. As they counted down to start, they took a deep breath and quickly steadied themselves. Whatever they would decide to do, they had to do it now. After all, there was only one way to play, and, as they had learnt from their superior Gryffindor quiditch captain, offense was the best defense.Stats:

At the starting signal, Dan pushed off on his awful, terrible, basic ass, Not-Silver-Arrow broom. Though, an eyebrow was certainly raised when this boy from Mahoutokoro asked if they could stay on the ground and just levitate a torch to do the attacking. Like, what did this kid think Flying Torch Tag meant? Did he actually think the torches would be the things flying? What did he think the 'tag' part entailed then? He truly had no idea what the Mahoutokoro boy could have been thinking.STAMINA: 9

Depressed as he was, Dan saw what needed to happen in order to win. That was the Quidditch Captain in him, for sure. Even depressed, his strategic mind was working.
He surveyed the rest of his competition. It looked like the boy with anime hair and the boy who didn't understand what flying torch tag meant were a couple.
While Dan was happy for them, the couple also served to depress him further, as he remembered that he used to feel like anime boy looked with Ozzy. And to a lesser extent Andy, but, to his dismay, that was unrequited.
It entered Dan's mind. Maybe... he should find another boyfriend... Perhaps... the lack of someone special in his life was only causing a constant loop of depression...
These were thoughts for later. Now, there was a game to win.
Doing as strategized.
