Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 4

And another miss. Trying to hit the gryffindor seemed practically impossible, partially wondering if the upper year had eyes on the back of their head- it would explain how he managed to dodge every spell that came his way plus focus on spreading a spell to two targets. It'd be impressive- if Lea wasn't one of the targets. But she was, so for the time being the skill would be considered annoying. Not to mention the smoke that returned, the second year blinking rapidly in order to try and see anything in front of her. The ravenclaws had done something similar- and it had worked. So it made sense that the hufflepuff would witness the strategy once more.

So things weren't optimal. Alright. They weren't the worst they could be either though. Right? Lamik focused and threw up a smokescreen, one that he reckoned would stick around for a but longer before dissipating. He managed to avoid being struck, though who knew how long that would last for. What could he do next? What choices did he really have? He had already been in a 2 against 1 situation, but never this early in the duel.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 4
Blinking at her wand, Lydia had a moment of slight confusion. What was she doing? Why did she choose that spell, when she hadn’t mastered it yet? Shaking her head, she looked at her duelling partner with an apologetic look, before she focused back onto Lamik. But of course, the field was once again filled with smoke, and Lydia felt the frustration growing bigger. They already didn’t have any luck at hitting Lamik so far, with the thick smoke things could only go worse.
Collecting herself and her thoughts, Lydia thought about what to do next.Action: Doing as strategised

Both sides seemed to have grown a little wary of their surroundings, and sought to nullify their disadvantages.
The thick smoke covering the stage wasn't giving only Dee trouble; the Hufflepuffs too didn't trust their ability to hit the elusive Gryffindor through the haze. Thankfully, the wind jinx was a spell that Lydia had mastered perfectly, and it made quick work of the smoke Lamik had so painstakingly conjured, blowing it off the stage and... into the audience, some of which started coughing and cursing behind Dee.
Lamik had obviously decided he was sick of the thundercloud growling at him from above, and decided to send that little present right back to the Hufflepuffs. The wind jinx he cast split in two, one gust pushing the cloud away from him, the other headed straight for Lea. The Hufflepuff was already not doing too well, and had decided to focus on evading any incoming attacks for the moment: A wise choice, for she easily managed to twist out of the way of the spell. Sadly, there was another attack that did not come directly from Lamik, who had gotten rid of the cloud in the nick of time: Just a moment after it had settled above the Badgers, lightning struck down at the girl, leaving her looking a little singed at the edges.

Papertrail: I had the wrong target for Lamik's spell, that should have targeted Lea not Lydia. Fixed it above, results have not changed. @Lamik Fillestar @Lydia Cooper @Lea Hirsch

Lamik groaned as the smoke was blown away. He at least got rid of the cloud problem, but his opponents had gotten rid of their own obstacle. There were still options- some more risky then others- that would let him get the edge. He just had to settle on one.

While Lea would be able to avoid the spell coming directly towards her, trying to dodge a lightning bolt was not doable. At least the smoke was gone, but Lea was stunned for a minute trying to blink rapidly and return to the duel at hand. That- hurt. Still, the duel was ongoing- so the hufflepuff was quick to try and shake it off, preparing for the next round.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 4
The satisfaction of seeing the smoke go away from the platform was incredible; finally they were able to see, and hopefully also manage in hitting Lamik with their spells. So far they hadn’t managed to yet, and Lydia had to admit that she was quite impressed with the evasive abilities of the Gryffindor duellist. But hopefully that won’t stay like that for too long.
Of course with the smoke gone, Lydia was able to see how Lamik had moved the stormy cloud back to them, and if she felt grateful that she didn’t get hit by the lightning, she stared, helpless, as Lea got struck. “Oh gosh, are you alright?” She asked, moving closer to her. Then, she looked towards Lamik, wondering what they could do next.

Lightning
ReducioLamik: [d20: 9], fail
After the cloud had already struck down at each team once, neither side seemed willing to suffer it over their heads for long. Had Lamik blown it over to the Hufflepuffs not long ago, wher eit had immediately made its displeasure known to poor Lea, Lydia was not going to risk another lightning strike on her team and moved it back to Lamik with a solid wind jinx - where it kept grumbling, but did not strike.
Lamik and Lea, meanwhile, had their wands aimed at each other. The younger Badger was clearly not doing too well anymore, and Dee reckoned that with the power of Lamik's spells, he could well take her out with another hit, unless she was sorely misjudging Lea's sturdiness. On the other hand, Lamik was still unharmed, had so far been too nimble to be caught by any of the attacks the Badgers had thrown at him. This was about to change: Perhaps too eager to remove Lea from the duel, Lamik's spell fuzzed oddly... and backfired against its caster. The whole force of the knockback jinx slammed into the Gryffindor, sending him stumbling, and was quickly followed by a well-aimed jet of flames from Lea's wand, which left Lamik's left leg on fire.
Dee started, surprised by the mishap. Despite Everly being out of the equation so early, the last few minutes had looked like Lamik might be turning the tables back in his favour. Now it seemed like the Badgers might be able to cling to their advantage. Would there be more surprises to come?

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 4
There was only one thing Lydia could think about, and that was to move the storm clouds back to Lamik as quickly as possible, before they hit her or Lea. Pointing her wand towards them, Lydia felt extremely happy and relieved when she successfully cast the wind jinx, moving the storm back to where she had originally cast it.
Her morale was definitely better than during the previous duelling stages, even though she hadn't managed to hit Lamik yet; it definitely helped seeing Lea successfully hit the boy, knowing that at least her duelling partner could succeed where she failed made her smile at the fellow badger. "Good job! That was really good, Lea!" Of course, seeing Lamik hit himself with his own spell did confuse Lydia a little, and she almost felt bad for him, knowing how much it sucked to have your own spell backfire against you.
Then concentrating back to the task at hand, Lydia looked back towards the Gryffindor side, determined to continue the duel and give it all she had.
