I noticed that you said her mother was dead, or something like that, why don’t you add that to you history, if you want I can send you a template I use when writing a more advanced History. It’s similar to the one about starters, asking you questions so you can see them visibly and you can answer them, then put it all together in the end.

It takes months for me finish a history, what you see in my ency uis only a place holder and so I know what to add and where all the details go. And even after that, I’m always tweeking and adding more details.

These are all great points, I do have to add that gender identity shouldn't exactly be 'everything' nor be a 'personality'. I incorporated a thorough story to my character that connects with their identity but not in a crazy way, my character's mother was too ill to care for Jay which then resulted in her abandoning them. My character then grew up around other orphans and in a messy orphanage, they were not treated the best and they had a lot of influences from older orphan boys. Because of the way they were raised, led to questioning gender identity.

My character's childhood also has many other impacts on their personality and how they perceive others. When writing a story for your own character, it is important in my opinion... to not make gender identity the [main] story at least.

Oh and to add on, seeing from other people on other rp websites, making your character lgbt simply to create 'problems' is not the way to go, only change your character if you truly feel like it is what they would be. You mentioned "to add more to her history" and this came up in my head lol

I myself am gender fluid and somewhat incorporated my own experiences into my character's history in order to help its authenticity.

Yes. It takes me absolutely forever to come up with my early life for any character. Always trying to include their personality, what they like, but also making their history shape my characters personality, sometimes, it gets so much I have to drop it for a bit. Because you personality defines who you are but your personality defines the choices you make. It’s stressing sometimes
